Marlow Fish Bar

Fish and chips takeaway

😐 We have passed this fish bar quite a few times while we have been taking the dog for a walk and decided to give it a try the other day. To say they have been in business since the 60's, It was a little underwhelming. The chips were soggy, the fish was a bit watery and tasteless as it had been froze... People often mention fish, chips, years, quality, local, great,

We have passed this fish bar quite a few times while we have been taking the dog for a walk and decided to give it a try the other day. To say they have been in business since the 60's, It was a little underwhelming. The chips were soggy, the fish was a bit watery and tasteless as it had been frozen. The batter on the fish was quite soggy too after being wrapped. Curry sauce was nice and tasty - standard chip shop curry, and the battered sausage was adaquate. All in all I wouldn't rave about it but if you need a fill on a Saturday dinner time then give them a go. Spending £40 for three of us was a little on the expensive side for the quality

Sad to say we listened to the praise lavished on this outlet and decided to have a Saturday lunch treat. Perhaps if we had visited later may have been better, but chips were greasy and slightly undercooked, the fish was excellent but the batter was soggy and limp. I have two stars for friendly staff and excellent fish, but nothing higher for the poor cooking and greasy food.

I tried Marlow Fish Bar recently after many recommendations. The service was fantastic like I'd known them for years. The quality of the food was spot on and couldn't fault it. I bought a Spam fritter to try later in the evening after having my fish n chips I'd just purchased. Sadly the Spam fritter didn't make it home as I too one curious bite in the car and then the whole fritter was gone by the time I got home! <blush> It's not my local chippy, but I'll definitely visit again! x

Back to Marlow Fish Bar after 45 years. Was my late father's favourite chippie. Unbelievably Moses the guy that started it all back in 1962 still serves behind the counter on a Friday night however today we were served by Moses' Junior... and what a nice bloke he is. Beautifully cooked fish and chips at a terrific price. Highly recommended and will return again very soon.

I have been going to this lovely fish & chip shop for about twenty years and have always had perfect food which tasted amazing however after a break of two years I returned to have rock & chips and was so disappointed the fish batter was hard and the fish was overcooked and the chips were greasy and tasteless and i sadly threw it all in the bin ,I hope this was a one off as this establishment used to one of the best in London.

Quality local chippy. Might be the best I've found in London, reminds me of my Midlands hometown. Chips are soft but not soggy, fish perfectly fried. Everything is done to order, so you could save yourself a wait by calling ahead. Cash-only, sadly, but very friendly service.

First time tonight, really good fish and chips, been in his family over 61 years, nice guy, cooks to order, cooks traditional in beef fat, can tell he cares and is passionate about what he serves and how he serves it. Old school place, really clean, great tasting fish and chips, keeps it simple with simple menu

This is probably one of the best fish and chip I've eaten.. Definitely the best in/around London that I've had. It's family run and has a really traditional style. Plus they're all really friendly in there. I'm so glad it's in the area.

I have only ever had a great experience at this amazing local delicacy, but we were very disappointed this week - the portions are notably smaller and the usually wonderfully crispy batter was limp, wet and tasteless. The chips were also soggy, when they’re usually the best fish shop chips I’d ever eaten! If they’ve changed their recipe or bought cheaper ingredients to make it, PLEASE revert back to whatever you were doing before. It was delicious. N.B. I by no means mean this to be a negative review, I am just worried to be losing such a great food option in the local area.

Run by a lovely family, consistently fantastic fresh fish and chips for over 20 years of my memory! (Having grown up with it, fish and chips elsewhere has never measured up, even down on the South Coast!). Always cooked fresh, and the owners source the fish fresh every day, so for the quality it's extremely good value. (Source: My parents have used this chippy for well over 30 years, learn a few things along the way!)

Incredibly disappointing. I understand the prices going up but the portion sizes are now much smaller and the quality was lacking. It was a busy evening period so hopefully this is just a one off.
