Great selection of wine and cheeses! I don't drink wine personally. My girlfriend does. She loved it. I loved the cheese selection and the atmosphere. One of the strangest places I've been in London! I definitely suggest sitting inside! That's where you find the history! It's like going back in time. The candle lit arched cave like rooms make you feel like you're in old London. I was recommended by a local. I wouldn't have known of the place otherwise! A great experience!

A must visit in London! Great selection of wine, cheese, and charcuterie. They have a nice patio area but I’d recommend sitting inside as the cellar really made the experience.

We visited here Sunday 6:30pm and we waited for about half an hour to get a inside table but it was worth! We enjoyed this bar a lot! And unlike some reviews, the cave(?) was not really noisy. The vibe in the cave was just exotic and good. Must try in London!

My first visit to Gordon’s after a friend has been recommending it for years and it did not disappoint! Such a wonderful experience, friendly staff and great ambience. Wonderful selection of cheese and charcuterie, generous portions and love the cheese and suggested wine pairings listed on the menu. Will definitely be visiting again.

This was our first time at Gordon’s and YOU have to visit! It is a lovely little spot with amazing wine, food and service! The ambience was cozy and charming with seating inside a cave! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations - special shout out to Maga! He was super helpful and had a great energy about him! Highly recommend this place! 😊

Lovely wine bar with the indoors bar section in a cellar or maybe cave that’s so well lit and nicely decorated. Being in here feels like I had taken a trip to the past. The wine selection was spot on, great recommendations by the gentlemen that serve at the bar. To top, the cold cut and cheese was one of the best I’ve ever had. Due to the popularity, you might expect to queue for a bit but it will worth it. We are definitely coming back for a dining experience. Highly recommend.

The blonde waitress was EXCELLENT helpful and attentive. The sharer and wine we had was SUPERB!. However. The cleaning of 90%!! Of tables after customers moved on was nigh on non existent!. People were just sitting down straight after others. NO tables or chairs being wipped. NOT acceptable in todays covid times. Come on GORDONS, you are better than this.

Visited several times and it's always a pleasure. The meat and cheese boards are great but the wine is exceptional - The staff will recommend and pair - and it's in an ideal location in central London. Just prepare to wait a while for a table as its excellence is reflected in its popularity!

Great location. Wine cellar with THE best cheese and paired wine tasting. Staff go above and beyond to cater with care. I love it, it's a great experience. It is dark and cellar-like which I find charming. Others may prefer high ceilings and well lit spaces, this isn't that! Loose yourself down here!!! It's otherworldly fabulous.

Gordon's Wine Bar is a wine Paradise. This place is located near embankment tube station. They have a huge collection different types of tasty cheeses and wines. We went there at evening and had a great time. The staffs are helpful and kind. We seated outside under the radiator lights in lightly cold weather.

How often can you experience dinning in a world war 2 bomb shelter! This is Such a nice lovely, you get the choice of sitting inside or outside, if you really wanna live the romantic experience they dine inside, however there might be a waiting time for that. The resturant got a lot of wine options to choose from and the main plates are sharing bites like cheese platters …

Stunning wine bar located just outside Charing Cross station. This little beaut does not take bookings, so it’s queue only but if you’re lucky you may get to walk straight in if you want to stand by the bar. The wait is totally worth it though, the inside is stunning and looks barely touched since it opened. They also have a very smart outdoor area which is very large and therefore the waiting time is drastically reduced compared to sitting inside. Outside has heaters too so it’s cosy. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Huge choice of wines to suit all tastes. We had a charcuterie board which was nice, we ran out bread and they replenished it free of charge 👌 haven’t tried any other food yet, but we will. Highly recommended and I will be back soon for sure! 🍷🧀🥃

We had a great night here catching up with old friends. Excellent and knowledgeable service and a comprehensive wine list. Everything you want in a wine bar. Would recommend to sit outside as the old cellar felt a bit stuffy and hot.

Totally worth the wait if you end up having to queue. I absolutely love this place. I much prefer sitting inside bc it’s got such a cool, cavernous vibe, but there are rarely tables available. Fortunately, the outside seating is still absolutely lovely and well heated in the winter.

Really nice bar. The outdoor seating with the heaters was great! Even sitting out there in the winter I was fine and really enjoyed myself. The wine we had was lovely and I didn’t get any food but it all looked so Amazing

Great location and selection of wines, but the service was not on the level you would expect it for such a place. First of all, no one said anything about wines we ordered and our bottles were not opened at the table. This place could use a more professional staff that does not run around all the time which really makes you nervous. Half of the staff was barely doing anything other then making jokes with each other. Perhaps hiring a good sommelier? Secondly, you do not get an outlined bill but just the confirmation of the payment. We really did not mind prices which are higher than in most other wine bars, but some harmony and communication with your guests would not hurt. I do have to mention that most waiters spoke several languages but did not make the effort to even do a small talk. This place has serious potential but some fundamental changes need to take place.

Great selection of wine and cheese, but the scotch egg & salad was gross… bland cold potatoes and greens with no dressing, only olive oil. My bad though, shouldn’t have ordered. Maybe that’s just how scotch egg and British salads are. No reservation, waited ~30min.

Worth the hype, although we got in before the line formed. Didn’t know it was that popular, but it is in a tourist zone. Great location next to a park which is next to the Thames. Great cheese and meat options and obviously some great wine. Don’t miss the sherry! While sitting outside is fantastic on a nice day, you must go inside and see the interior. Great history and old cellar vibes.

Somewhat mixed feelings about this one. I believe this place has the potential to be great but needs some carefully considered changes. The venue only allows outdoor seating at the moment which is a shame. The wine has a massive mark up, the bottle we ordered was 3x the price it retails for. This in itself wouldn't be an issue if the service and quality reflected the price point. Service was ok, but no one really told anything about the wines, the menu doesn't include the vintage which is odd and when they're closing the security runs up and down shouting how much time you have left, when the last chance to use the facilities is etc. and this shouting spectacle happens every 10-15minutes during the last hour. I'm sure it could be done in more pleasant manner. On the positive side, the selection of wine is decent and there are some nice wines available. The indoor space looks nice - if only it was used. There are heaters outdoors so you won't be freezing. All in all I had a good time and enjoyed good wine but it wasn't positively influenced by the venue.

Great tasting wine bar in the centre of London with amazing untouched interiors. It feels like you are back in 1890 with the vaulted ceilings and candlelight tables. The prices have been going up so perhaps not as good value as it used to be. But great selection of wine and cheese to choose from.

Absolutely love this place - insane wine collection (The Provence is my fave) and a load of cheese and meat boards to cheese from… bit of a hidden gem but somewhere you’ll keep going back once you’ve been!!

This is the best wine bar in town. Expect it to be overly busy at peak times. It's worth the wait. £30 bottles as well as cheaper and wayyy more expensive if that's the vibe. Don't recommend for tourists as there's no bookings but if you chance upon a decent table you're in for a great time. Cheese and food is great if slightly limited. Last real boozer in central? You tell me.

Get here early (pre 5pm) so avoid waiting in a queue. Staff are very friendly, accommodating and chatty. I would recommend sitting outside for larger groups even in winter because there are heaters and shelter to keep you toasty and dry. It's much more intimate and romantic indoors but a bit tight. The food wasn't spectacular for what you pay but people don't come here to eat. Drinks are competitively priced so all is forgiven! Would definitely recommend and revisit!

If you like casual pub and like informal venue, you will love this place. Inside locate under the cave, so could be bit noisy especially if someone has loud voice. I prefer outside sitting, usually very busy but you can share the table with strangers! Need to order wine and food inside the bar, self-service!

It's been a while since we were last able to visit which is a shame. We just had a bottle of wine and some hunks of cheese and bread for lunch. Surprisingly good value for such a great unusual place. Its one of those places you can't help telling your friends about.

Very lovely atmosphere and great wine. The interior is quite authentic with old newspapers and candle bottles are amazing. Even waiting area bar is good and most of staff are very nice. 👌🏻 P.s. service is not best. I am married woman and we had girls night, but they tried to make us sit and share the table with some guys which is rather inconvenient and uncomfortable.

This is an amazing hidden gem in London just outside embankment tube station. We sat inside in the cave which is almost entirely lit by candlelight. A fantastic wine selection with so many to chose from but if you have no idea what you want, the friendly staff will help you select one. Great grazing boards too, we opted for a 2 slice cheese board, and went for the suggested cheeses to match the wine we were drinking. We were not disappointed. Will definitely return here when next visiting London.

Omg where do you start with this Epic place? The service was excellent, from being greeted outside by the pleasant staff to being given some information about how Gordon's works by its friendly staff inside. You walk down several steps to be greeted by the friendly team and given a number to wait for a table. Then you are invited to grab a drink at the bar as you wait in a beautiful atmospheric waiting area. Which has a few stoles as well as places to stand. Once a table becomes free, you're guided to the back half, which is an underground wine cellar setting. With exposed brick and low ceilings. The service throughout was wonderful. The food, even though simple as I went for pate, was gorgeous, and the wine was on point and fairly priced for the setting. We spend a good hour and a half just chatting and taking in the beautiful surroundings and atmosphere. I'd highly recommend Gordon's for any occasion. But please bear in mind that inside is not disability friendly. Gordon's is a perfect place for a date, a catch-up with friends, a pre show treat, or just a sod it Sunday. I'm having a drink. I'd love to return back soon for the food and setting alone. Not to take away from the amazing staff.

I had a fantastic night with my friends at Gordon's! They offer an excellent selection of European wines and a delightful assortment of smorgasbords. We had a great time together. The place is definitely unique, especially with the cellar. The atmosphere is pleasant, with candlelight adding to the charm.

Love this place, always visit when I'm in the area. Feels like a real experience sitting in victorian cellars with the rumble of the trains all around, very atmospheric. Also has a lovely outdoors seating area. The cheese and meat platters are just perfect!

I would happily rate them over 5 stars for their down to earth customer service. Mr Tony was such a happy face who made our long wait super pleasant. His enthusiasm was so infectious and made us return back the next day. In fact that holds true for the other staff as well. Ms Bruni was absolutely stunning with her recommendations. She made us sample few based on the preference and wow we enjoyed the wines. She served us with such involvement that we enjoyed our evenings. It’s always important when the service is exceptional and this place just exceeds expectations. Mr Marin was also fabulous with chatting to us and his service. This atmosphere is quite ancient and provides space for cosy talks. This is most certainly one of the fabulous wine spots in the city. Both the indoor and outdoor spacing is generous and so are the waiting times.

I love Gordon's wine bar, think it has an amazing atmosphere and set up on a sunny London day. I do slightly miss the days where it was first come first serve, people sharing tables and going inside to get your food and drinks. However, it is still a gem of a place, the staff was friendly and we had a great time.

Really great choice of wine and cheeses. I’ve been a few times, they don’t take bookings but we only queued for 10 minutes or so to get a table outside. Inside it’s a traditional vaulted cellar and definitely worth a look. The only thing we were asked to pay upfront which I found strange..

Great place to try wines from all over the world. It looks like an old tavern and you feel like travelling into the past. Prices are good too. They don't do reservation, only walk ins so you might need to wait for a while to get a seat.

One of my top 5 places I recommend when my friends and family come to the city and visit. It’s a unique place that, if you find a seat, you’ll want to spend all night at. The character of this place, candles, antiques etc, is what makes it in addition to the underground running by every so often( the bar predates the tube obviously) Even if you can’t find a place to sit down you can peak your head in and take a look at the atmosphere. Well worth it

  • 5/5 Vanessa 1 year ago on Google
Sitting inside the candlelit cellar is like going back in history and you can feel gentle vibrations from the passing trains, while enjoying wine and cheese. It is a unique experience. We were lucky to walk in with no queue on a Monday early evening so I recommend to visit off-peak.

The location is very nice, wines in the average, food is ok, but the service was terrible with dirty glasses and dirty tables. The staff was really rude. We ask for some clarifications about some special dishes they recommended to us, a bit overpriced in my opinion, nobody gave us an answer and the waiter was just standing next to us with the PDQ machine waiting for the payment, we didn’t even have time to check the bill properly. Shame for a very nice place.

I've not been to Gordon's in years, and I can safely say it is as worth a visit as ever. This was an old haunt of mine during my uni days, when I was near penniless and pretentious. Now that I am no longer a Londoner, it is lovely to go and visit any time I am up in town. It is a dark charming place, well loved by regulars and tourists. My most recent visit saw me stopping off at lunch. I would recommend it. Its heaving any time past 6 in the evening. So it was nice to stop at Gordon's over a more peaceful lunchtime. It was easy to get a table, and some food. I had a few glasses of red, recommended by the barman, since I don't know a great deal about the subject. I can't remember their names, but they were perfectly suited for the cheese board I had. A cheese board for two cane to £24, with two small glasses of wine being £13. London prices, but not as horrendous as some places I've been too. More importantly, the wine was lovely, as was the food. I look forward stopping into Gordon's again and again as the years go by. A must visit if your in town.

Definitely my favorite wine bar in London... Of the few I got to visit. So cute, and amazing. A very unique space. Ps if anyone read my poor review, which I've just deleted, I got it confused with a different bar. All fixed now.

Oldest wine bar in London with great wine and food selections. I wish I would've been able to sit inside! This place was slammed, nonstop, inside and outside. Definitely the coolest part of the bar is the very dark, low ceiling, previous warehouse section. I was there for awhile and those seats went fast. The patio area is huge, and even that was totally full. Be prepared to wait to sit and/or go early if you're a group. Worth it! If you love wine, this is a must.

  • 5/5 Amanda F. 7 months ago on Google
Bought the voucher for the wine tasting and was really surprised for the quantity and quality of the wines and cheeses. Really nice for a gift I’d say. Went on a Saturday so there was a bit of queue which moved pretty quickly for the tables outside. No one explains anything about the wines but I think it was fair for the price and there is a paper to guide you.

This wine bar exceeded our expectations and was well worth the wait. Visiting on our first night in London, we anticipated a 15-20 minute wait for seating. Surprisingly, even in winter, they offered cozy outside seating equipped with ample heat lamps, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server was not only friendly but also informative. Learning that we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, he graciously treated us to two complimentary glasses of champagne. The wines and charcuterie board were simply delicious, leaving us with a desire to revisit during our stay, though time didn’t allow. For wine enthusiasts, Gordon’s is a must-add to your list; you’re sure to love the experience.

Gordon's wine bar is an experience, the "cave à vin" like setting with the good selection of wine, charcuterie and cheeses makes it an excellent spot to take close friends to. The place is atypical with a loud atmosphere and musty interiors. It has a cheap and cheerful setting with no frills. Go there for the wine, food and the experience in a cold underground cellar.

The atmosphere is fantastic, the wine and cheese boards are delicious, and it is a beautiful little place. Everyone should pay a visit to Gordon's. There’re definitely better places for platter experience in london for the same price. Although the wine was decent, quality of food wasn’t very good. The bread looked and tasted like a bread from tesco, but in the menu it was claimed the bread is freshly baked, but look at the picture… cheese and meat was very supermarket like too (I had Italian platter) I’ve tried many cheeses and meats from many places around London, and this was one of the most unpleasant experiences. Wouldn’t come back
