Super friendly owner and staff. The owner popped round to ask us how we enjoyed the food. Corner shop chippy, had 3 tables inside and a few additional ones outside. Crispy fish and chips, delicious. Ordered standard size rock and chips, it came with salad was definitely plenty enough, had tartar sauce with it, the rock had a fish cartilage which I originally thought was bone, tried it after owner said it was edible. Was even offered more chips. Friend had cod and chips. The rock was better, less fishy, more delicate flavours. Don't live in the area, picked it based on reviews and it didn't disappoint. And it also had a small toilet available to use which was clean and tidy.

I've been living in Greenwich for the last year and had never visited this lovely, unassuming place. My mum was visiting from Malaysia and we finally had an excuse to go as nothing is more English than fish and chips! We were seated promptly (which is lucky as there are very limited seating - 12 pax tops!) The service was wonderful - the waitstaff are very friendly and accommodating. We ordered the cod, haddock and jacket potato with tuna. Let me start with the fish - it's the best fish I've ever tasted in a fish & chips dish. It was fresh, and juicy with a super crispy coating without being too greasy! The Mediterranean-style salad was lovely and refreshing! The chips were a bit undercooked for our liking - thus 4 stars. The jacket potato was HUGE with a generous topping of tuna and was very filling. We will definitely visit again - attached are photos from our visit to make you salivate!

Fresh, delicious food with a friendly atmosphere. I have nothing but good things to say about this amazing little restaurant. Our fish and chips was cooked fresh to order and came out piping hot. Batter was crispy and the side salad was deliciously fresh, with mint and coriander added into it. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. Big smiles when we arrived and throughout our stay. Seating inside as well as outside under an awning. Take away available as well. We’ll definitely visit again!!

Beyond Amazing!!!! This place is a must try if you’re visiting London! My husband and I were visiting from Arkansas USA! Don’t hesitate for one moment to go to this marvelous establishment! It’s a cozy little corner spot! The owner and staff were phenomenal! Very friendly and down to earth! We felt like family when we left! If we could visit every week we would. Seriously thinking of moving to London because of this one experience!

Wow. The best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The cod was tender, soft and it didn't have a strong fish like taste. The coating was crispy and not very greasy. Fish and chips came with a salad and tartar sauce. The staff was very nice and professional.

This was my first experience eating fish and chips in UK, It was really nice. I ordered large Cod fish. The staff is very welcoming and polite. The owner of the shop is also very caring, he came to me and asked how is the food, and even offered me to give extra chips. Loved the experience.

What a wonderful fish and chip shop. My wife and I ate in the shop at one of the tables they have inside. We both ordered halibut, chips and mushy peas, which came with a lovely crisp mixed salad. The halibut was a generous portion, very fresh and beautifully cooked with just the right amount of batter. The chips crisp on the outside and fluffy inside and the peas just how you want mushy peas to be. The atmosphere in the shop is very friendly and the service top notch. I cannot recommend this shop enough, a local business selling top notch food to eat in or take away at prices that don't break the bank. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Chris and the guys strive to give you excellent service and excellent food. We got the haddock. 👍🏻 Meat pies are delicious and such a value if you can find yourself not ordering fish and chips. Mushy peas are spot on. That Mediterranean salad seems different than other fish and chip shops and I really really liked it. My only warning is that if you get the halibut, it is so good, it may make the other fish orders seem bad. We found this place because it was on 3 different best of Greenwich lists. When we arrived, I realized I knew this place from a positive review on YouTube. Take away is cheaper. Dine in the patio for hot and crispy right out of the fryer.

Most amazing food! I had the fish and chips that were delicious and fresh! We also got the fried chicken which was way better than any fried chicken in America. Has a bit of a kick to it! A must go! But go early since tables are limited. The service is very good and love that it’s family owned!

A lovely little shop in London serving fresh Fish and chips. The touristy nature of the place has died down a bit mercifully. We got there around lunch and were expecting a line out the door but we were the only people there, which was nice. Will likely change as we return to pre-pandemic levels. Fish was honestly fantastic, by far and away some of the best fish I've had. And their fresh Tartar sauce was amazing. The rest though.......was not great. Had mushy peas that were grainy and lacking in any flavor. Even after a fair amount of salt and pepper the only thing I could taste was just salt and pepper. And the chips were an embarrassment: tasteless, powdery and oily all at the same. Tasted like McCain's awful frozen thick cut chips. Overall it was well worth the trip, but next time I'll just be ordering the fish on it's own. Would highly recommend!

We heard about the best fish and chips in London and they met the expectations far and beyond. After we ate we were sitting and smoking talking with the amazing owner. Thank you, toda and shalom (the Israeli guys). I am writing the review from Ireland. We will meet again

Golden Chippy is undoubtedly the crown jewel of chippies, holding the well-deserved title of No. 1 on TripAdvisor. If you're a fan of authentic, fresh fish paired with perfectly crunchy yet fluffy chips, this is your haven. The quality of the fish is unmatched – every bite bursts with freshness and flavour. The delicate flakiness of the fish is a testament to their commitment to sourcing the best ingredients. And let's talk about those chips - golden, crispy on the outside, and delightfully fluffy on the inside, they're the perfect companions to the star of the show.

I had my first ever cod fish and chips here. Although I bought the fish and chips to go. But the fish still really tasty when I got to the hotel. I can tell the fish is fresh, it got a nice texture and tastes sweet. I love the salt and vinegar seasoning. A bit sour but mix with the saltiness and oil of the chips, it becomes a very unique taste. I can just keep on eating all the chips! I think this is a must go places for lunch or dinner if you ever visit Greenwich!

Plenty of quantity for the money. Very tasty fish and chips. Me and my family loved it. We ordered the grilled cod with cheesy chips and nuggets. All were very tasty.

When we first arrived in London from New York, our expectation of the fish & chips were quite high… and somehow, through a combination of the food and the tremendous service, Golden Chippy well exceeded them. 100% worth the trek outside of the main area.

The fish is fresh the batter was crispy and not oily but the fish need more seasoning. Of course you can season your fish with the tableside salt and vinegar and tartar sauce. The chips can be made to be more crispy The salad is a good medetrenian side dish. It balanced the richness of the the fish and chips. The staff was friendly and polite. The even gave me extra chips without any extra charge and I appreciate their hospitality.

Fish and Chips is probably one of my favourite food. I was on a quest to try the best fish and chips in London. Havind tried a few places, this has to be one of the best in London. Value for money, good service and it met my high expectations 🇲🇺🇬🇧

Coming from the US, we wanted to find the best fish and chips and the Golden Chippy certainly exceeded that hope. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the owner and felt such a warm welcome. This energy carried through the entire visit and is something you do not get often anymore - I admire this a great deal. The fact that the food was as delicious as it was, makes this restaurant the full package. The fish was light, crispy, piping hot, and flavorful. The chips nice and fluffy. The tartar sauce was easily the best I’ve had and tied everything together. I will come back here every time I return to London. Thank you to the owner and team for the experience!

Very good Fish and Chips. Maybe the best I have eaten. The sizes are huge! Had lunch, was not hungry at dinner time.

I give five stars for everything. I see some reviews giving criticism on certain aspects, but if you are here you will see why this really deserves a five star review. The fish and chips was delicious, the home made sauce was excellent, little sour like it supposed to be and the service was also really good. The price here is a bit on the high side, but it's London, so you'll just have to deal with that. On the other hand, I couldn't finish my plate because of the monsterous big fish I got. To bad I didn't made a picture of the food when eating, because I didn't expect to write a review about it. I recommend this restaurant for fish and chips and if I was staying any longer, I would certainly come back! 9/10

The best Fish and Chips I have ever had so far, fresh and good quality, recommend to try various types of fish, I like haddock and cod, but skate also provide unique flavour. Fried chickens are surprisingly good, so flavorful and crispy. I definitely come back here again.

This place didn’t fail my expectations at all! It exceeded them! The fish was buttery and moist on the inside, flaky and crispy on the outside. We had the cod and the halibut and they’re both very very good. The fries were perfect and did not smell like fish, which is really amazing to me. This also comes with a side salad which is very delicious and crunchy. Definitely recommended, and will definitely come back!

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant while staying in a nearby hotel, seeking traditional English cuisine. The restaurant came highly recommended, and I was drawn to its inviting outdoor seating area. The staff were exceptionally friendly and eager to recommend various menu options. Though the food was good, I couldn't help but feel that it had the potential to be better. However, the sunny afternoon added a lovely touch to the ambiance, creating a welcoming atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the sight of young students chatting and relishing their time, which added a sense of vibrancy to the experience. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, and I left with a taste of traditional English flavors and a fond memory of a sunny afternoon.

Highly recommended 9.5 out of 10. The Best Fish and Chip we have ever tasted - the fish is fried with tempura like batter, thin, insanely crispy but non oily and works well with the jar of tartar sauce provided. The salad is perfect side-dish for fish that balances the flavours perfectly and last but not least are the fat chips that help complete this near perfect deal. Great service from the warm staffs and with sit in service, which means alcohol or other drinks can be order on-site. Best Fish and Chips in London! Thanks!

Stopped by here for my first fish& chips experience in the UK. Really friendly staff and attentive to your needs. They have outdoor seating but a lot of traffic is for take away. Definitely a visit if you are wanting to venture outside of London.

They say it’s the best fish and chips in the UK so we went ahead and tried it. The fish was hand down really good, crispy on the outside and moist and perfectly cooked on the inside. The chips, on the other hand, was soggy and had a lot to improve on. Overall, i’ll come back for the fish. Stick with the basics, such as cod and haddock, and you’ll finally taste what really excellent fish and chips is like! It’s quite affordable too!

Fish and fire are OK. You can sit inside or outside to eat. Water serve available. They use some supermarket available cake for dessert (refer to photo). Dining area is clean and tidy. Fish are cook after you order.

The food is delicious! They have a wide variety on the menu to accommodate everyone. (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free) We ordered a vegan burger, a gluten-free fish and chips and 2 large fish and chips. We didn't have to wait too long for the dishes to arrive. Everything was exquisite! A must-try if you are in the area. It's a 10-minute walk from Cutty Sark. I recommend visiting the place on a nice sunny day! There is the option to order takeaways. We will definitely be back soon! Thanks

Love this shop! The chicken is absolutely delicious, if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. Just so yummy! I drive half an hour just to get some! Staff are polite and helpful, you don't normally expect exceptional service at a local chippy, but you get it here. Thanks guys!

This chip shop has to be one of the best places I’ve eaten. The chips are always cooked to perfection, fish is always fresh and the staff are amazing. Always friendly and attentive! Clean outdoor seating area. You must try these if you’re looking for traditional fish and chips!

It's hard to believe the claims of this being the best fish and chip shop in London TILL you actually go there and try it yourself. Amazing food, this portion was 11 quid. The venue and the extremely friendly staff are just an extra add on but the food alone is superb. I'll be coming back for sure.
