Love this place! This is the first micro pub I've been to and I absolutely love it! Nice and cosy. Encourages talking to each other. Beers are excellent, well-chosen and kept, and *very* reasonably priced. Decent cider too. My new favourite pub in Greenwich, along with The Pelton Arms, and closely followed by The Crown.

Came for the late opening hours on a Sunday, stayed for the cider. Me and a friend found about this place on a Sunday evening after attending a concert at the O2. It was the closest place opened after 9:30pm on a Sunday offering a good selection of craft beer. When we arrived around 10pm, we were surprised to see the front room was still very busy with locals this late at night. We sampled a couple of beers, but then we noticed the awards for Cider Pub of the Year so we decided to give the ciders a go. And oh boy, was it he right decision! We got some incredibly smooth ciders, low carbonation and packed with flavour, something we haven't experienced before. Tried 5 or 6 different ciders from their blackboard menu and all of them exceeded our expectations. Will definitely return to this place next time we are in the area to sample more amazing drinks!

Excellent Greenwich pub in a former shop not far from Westcombe Park Station. Six cask ales available when I visited including a porter together with a great choice of real ciders. The River Ale House which opened in 2017 is currently the only micropub in Greenwich. The ales are poured straight from the casks that are kept in a chilled room. There are two separate bars with a rustic feel. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Small micro-pub serving local (London and UK) ales and beers. Wooden interior with a quiet zone (silent mobiles) in the back. Seems to be popular with middle-aged/old men enjoying good beers and good conversations. London should have more pubs like this!

One of the best pubs with cask beers in South East London. They usually serve beers from South East London, Kent and a few casks from across the UK. Also, they have a wide selection of ciders of your choice: sweet, semi-sweet and dry.

My first visit yesterday... Very impressed and can't think of anything that I would alter about the place. Great to see someone running a bar who knows what he is doing. Should get a 6th star for playing both Lou Reed and the VU.

AMAZING! no stupid music, nothing but a rich selection of beers, ciders, perries and gin. Had a great time there and a real pleasure to taste good drinks for fair price and watch locals playing board games and enjoying Sunday evening. Would definitely come back 🌟

Unassuming from the pavement but a wonderfully cosy ambiance inside with weekly changing lineup of lovely beers and more! We were so impressed we bought a t-shirt which was also comfy as. Top marks

I visited this bar for the first time on Saturday 11th November recommended by my partner and I wasn't disappointed. Great friendly atmosphere. Superb choice of beers and gin plus a very good sauvignon blanc wine. Trevor the owner was so friendly and efficient. Just loved the place and definitely will be returning SOON. No kitchen but there is a menu on the tables to order from local takeaways, to eat in, which is perfect.

Background: Have been here briefly twice, once in April and the 2nd time on Fri 22nd Sep, between 2:45-2:55pm. Positives: 1. Interior looks nice, has a homely feel. 3. Male toilet appears clean. 4. Going by other reviews, it seems their drinks are great. Negatives: 1: I went in on 22nd Sep, to use their toilet to wash my hands. 2: As I was leaving a blonde lady said with an attitude, “Can I help you?”. 3: I explained I came in to use the toilet. 4: She said with partially contained anger, to ask next time as it’s only for customers. 5: As she seemed so put out I apologised to be polite, but I don’t think I was in the wrong as: 6: there was no clear signage you had to be a customer to use a toilet. 7: it was virtually empty (looked like only 1 customer present), it wouldn’t possible for customers to be inconvenienced by me as there almost weren’t any. 8: When I last came in there was no issue with using the toilet without being a customer, so naturally I thought the same would be the case on my 2nd visit. 9: I noticed a lead tied at the bar and went down diagonally to a dog, the lead was well above the ground, covering the whole path. 10: As I came to the lead I thought this staff member would move it (or ask someone to) as it was next to them and they could see the obstruction. 11: The correct thing would be to remove an obstruction hindering someone leaving, especially if it’s a potential trip hazard. 12: They deliberately left this obstruction/hazard in my way, this was unnecessarily disrespectful, I’ve explained why I didn’t act badly and was polite despite facing hostility. 13: It was also unsafe as someone may trip when walking over something, especially if (in this case) the dog suddenly moved being attached to the lead (the obstruction) while I was walking over it. 14: Due to the negativity I experienced I didn’t prolong my departure asking someone to move the dog/lead, I sensed this could lead to more hostility. Feedback: 1: If it is an important venue policy for the toilet only to be for customers, please make this clear with signs so people know. 2: Even with signs, it’s possible someone may not ask to use the loo as they may be very desperate, sick, or have some type of mental burden e.g. experienced a bereavement etc. 3: So it’s worth being polite as you don’t know what someone else is going through, it doesn’t help anyone to be rude to a person in potential difficulty. 4: If you see an obstruction that not only makes it more difficult to leave, but is unsafe, don’t ignore it but remove it.

Amazing! Could not be happier to have found this. Best beer selection I’ve ever seen and run by wonderful people. Best thing about living on the Peninsula is being reasonably close by to this gem. Things to know: - huge rotating beer menu - very good cider, wine and spirits selection - food is mostly bar snacks, but you’re encouraged to order in from a nearby takeaway - technically it is a Charlton pub, but I wouldn’t think of it as a sports pub at all.

Superb pint of Goachers Old 1066 (6.7%), friendly, exceptional micropub between Charlton and Greenwich.(177 bus). Well worth the trip., lovely little place.

A truly great evening at the River Ale House last night. From the moment I walked in with my small dog, the barpeople were more than friendly. Within minutes I was chatting with other customers who were regulars. The range of beers was exceptional (especially the Plum Porter to finish). And takeaway pizza from next door delivered to the table. Very highly recommended. Five stars!

Refreshingly different ale house. Some really brilliant choices at reasonable prices. It was a little quiet, in that there were people there but it was hard to have a full conversation as felt like we were disturbing others so moved around the corner. Decent choice of quizzes and games to play as well. Will return and try again for sure

A variety of ever changing beers. Nice atmosphere. Cheap local pizza on a Tuesday as well as locals coming in and playing music.

Great place, recommended by a friend, great selection of well kept beers & ciders and all reasonably priced, I’ll definitely be back, but will leave the bike at home next time. So I came back without the bike and had several drinks, fantastic place for real ales, friendly staff and got chatting to the locals as Charlton had a home match. Came for drinks before going to the O2 so that I could get a decent beer and wasn’t disappointed, I’ll be back for more

Possibly the best community feeling of any pub I’ve visited. Beer is excellently kept and always a good choice at reasonable prices.

A perfect example of what a modern pub should be. I think some might call it a micropub but it’s not actually that small. While some of the long established traditional real ale pubs have chosen to opt for local beers over quality, this place bucks the trend with a superb selection of ales and ciders, with nice staff to boot. One of my ‘Inns of Distinction.’

Loved going but not happy being belittled on social media should i still choose to wear a face mask...it isn't a fashion choice. Fine, will go elsewhere or just get cans from supermarket.

The venue is small but very nice. Rustic decor. The staff were pleasant. The beer tastes great. The prices are reasonable. It's only 4 stars because Greenwich is a nightmare to park. This must have an adverse impact on so many local businesses.
