An interesting museum and approaches how to view a museum differently - no plaques, all accessible on a handset. It is free for Art Pass holders but only as a walk-in, can't pre-book. Predominantly Handel focus over Hendrix, three floors Vs one. Something different to try.

By coincidence, Handel lived in a house in London that 200 years later was next door to where Jimi Hendrix lived. The two houses are now a single museum of two distinct parts both of which are very interesting. There is a lot of memorabilia from both eras but I did particularly like the Jimi Hendrix bedroom. It is also quite feasible someone could visit this place who actually went there in the 1960s.

Since my last review I am happy to say it has finally opened. It was nice to see where Jimmy Hendrix lived from 1968 to 1969 at number 23 and where Handle lived at number 25 for 36 years until his death in 1759. It's amazing to think of the two great musicians living so close even if it was many years apart. I definitely recommend a visit

If you want to delve deeper into some history of music, you MUST visit the Händel & Hendrix. As a fan of both of these gentlemen, There couldn’t be a better place to learn about them. They both lived, worked, spent precious hours of their life dedicated to honing their craft! Today they have music to bring their homes back to life. Very cosy feeling throughout the whole Händel & Hendrix experience, it’s as if ( not trying to be creepy) they’re alive , and you’ve come to visit them. I absolutely Love this place!!! Thank you for existing for us to visit today, such a beautiful historical sight!

Super period house where both Jimi Hendrix and G. F. Handel both lived (on different floors at different times) with lots of memorabilia occupying their respective areas. Handel's is sparsely decorated with period furniture and paintings with historical information and Hendrix' areas contain information about his life, record collection, guitars, furnishings and videos of the events that happened in his flat and his life at that time. His bedroom is completely refitted with the exact decor as shown in the many photographs that exists. Some of the materials were painstakingly crafted by volunteers to be exact copies and it's a lovely experience to see it. The docent in that room is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and we chatted for quite a long time about our own experiences.

An interesting idea to bring into one museum the two homes of such very different musicians separated by two hundred years. It was nice to sit in an listen to a live rehearsal performance of classic pieces in Handels music room, performed with Harpsichord and Violin. Handels lived here from 1723 (aged 38) till his death in 1759. The Hendrix part of the museum has some good memorabilia, one of his guitars and jackets, and plenty of information on his brief life including his music collection and some of his music which you can listen to on headphones. However, Hendrix only lived here very briefly, so the flat itself is not so significant as Handel's House in that respect.

It needs a little more to make it feel special. Besides being the former homes of fantastic musicians, the experience can feel boring even to someone interested in either musician. 2 stories are dedicated to Handel, the very top is where Hendrix' appartment was and is now his portion of the museum. The part that makes up for it is the friendly staff. We went on a Tuesday and met the Instrument tuner who was happy to share great info on parts we would never have heard otherwise. Also, the gift shop worker and front receptionist were very friendly. I would give it 3 stars, but the staff deserve an extra one.

What a fantastic experience! It's a wonderful step back in time to see the flats that Handle and Hendrix's lived in. The team have done a wonderful job or restoring it and the accuracy of Hendrix's bedroom is superb. They are closing in September to refurbish further and not reopening until 2023 so go before they close if you can! It's definitely worth the £10 entry fee. The staff are wonderful, friendly and very knowledgeable too.

All you need to know about visiting this historic site Handel & Hendrix in London is made up of two residences: Handel’s house at 25 Brook Street and Hendrix’s flat at the top floor of 23 Brook Street. Handel House has been open to the public since November 2001 and Hendrix’s flat was the administrative office for staff. After substantial fundraising and support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Hendrix’s bedroom has been restored to how it was in 1968-69 along with additional exhibition and interactive space for visitors. Find out all you need to know about visiting from the options below. Below we have listed some more detailed practical information for visitors who have pre-booked tickets to visit during our gradual reopening process. If you have not yet booked a timed ticket please do so via Art Tickets. Is there anything I need to bring to the museum? Please bring a face covering. You may also like to bring disposable gloves so that you can safely hold the handrails on our staircases as you move around our historic spaces. There will be hand sanitiser in several locations across the house so it is not necessary to bring your own.

This place is quite a cool spot. Not exactly easy to find, but worth the trip, if you're a music fan. It's really a museum that has been preserved, where Handel and Hendrix lived. tour doesn't take long, but it's quite a surreal feeling to think about the timeless music that was played and created in that building. The room where Hendrix stayed is recreated from photos that show his bedroom when he was alive. It's a hot ticket, so expect there to be crowds.

This was nice to go to but from talking to the guides most of the items were replicas or as close as they can get. Very few original items. It also only took 40 minutes to go around, reading everything. Not the 1 - 2 hours suggested. Worth a look for hard-core fans but otherwise I'm not in favour of a return visit.

We booked to visit the Handel Hendrix House online during our stay in London. We arrived early for our slot which wasn't an issue as the staff member who greeted us inside let us in early. All of the staff were phenomenal. Everyone was so helpful, knowledgeable and chatty. The house exhibits were very engaging and the mobile guides were a nice addition. Visiting the homes of two very prolific composers was a very poignant experience and something that I was very thrilled to experience as a musician myself. There was live music in Hendrix's apartment which was brilliant and the gift shop at the end was well equipped with things to bring home. Overall a fantastic experience, amplified by the wonderful staff!

Fascinating place that allows you to learn and appreciate something about two very different musicians who lived next door to each other but centuries apart. Jimi's bedroom was the star attraction as it contained so much. Other rooms had his guitars and various memorabilia. All worth seeing. For a Hendrix fan, this felt like a kind of pilgrimage. The Handel house was also full of interesting objects and musical instruments owned by the composer. Very knowledgeable and friendly room attendants in both areas.

I just wondered walking by. No German speaker would realize Handel as Händel. If you don't want to use the Umlaut, which for a exposition should be the standard to use the correct name, then you should spell it Haendel. Good visit, though.

  • 3/5 Petra von S. 4 years ago on Google
Just cannot bring myself to recommending the museum. The Händel- part of the house is rather uninspired. Really old- school exhibition. The Hendrix--part has hardly any authentic exhibits and the highlight is a lookalike bedroom. It is not worth the money. Sorry.

What an amazing find! I love music but am not a classical buff, however this house is like a trip back in time. It's all historic furniture with newly renovated rooms and the care taken shows, I was resting my back leaning in a doorway watching a beautiful visual display with music, when on a side table nearby notes of music started appearing across a blank sheet of musical staves. What a delight! There are no flashy labels, you just need to pay attention. I loved it. Upstairs we saw a group of professional musicians who played two sets of music, had a little rest while listening, and carried on exploring after. They were brilliant and added the extra dimension if hearing what we were learning about, Handel's genius. Then....we found Jimmy Hendrix's old flat which is recreated faithfully from photographs and stood there reminiscing about the 70s. A lovely volunteer chatted to us about the displays and we shared our memories with him. It was a great afternoon of entertainment and we learned a lot. There's also a studio for workshops too, so it would be a lovely venue for young music students to visit. Very helpful staff and a lift to every floor with interconnecting doors to the Hendrix flat. Totally accessible for disabled people, the only request I would make is to put a few chairs on each level for disabled visitors to rest between areas. Do go, your carer is free and the entry fee is a very reasonable £14. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Love the house; love the fact that both Handel and Hendrix complimented each other so well; loved the bits of recorded Handel over the house but especially the wonderful live music both in the Handel and Hendrix rooms - I believe the latter is only on certain days. Certainly worthwhile. Every member of staff was so helpful and friendly.

The museum is fantastic, and the staff are on hand for any needs and are very informative with the museum itself and any queries. My experience here was great, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of either of these artists. I visited the gift shop afterwards and treated myself to a kimono, which is beautiful. Some of the things in the shop are a little pricey. However, I believe it's worth the price :) Ps the wheelchair accessibility is fantastic for anyone who requires this.

A unique tribute to two very different legends of our musical history. An interesting story on the life and works of Handel and if you are lucky some very talented musicians playing his music on the harpsichord. Then the more modern story of how Jimmi Hendrix came to live in a flat above the Handel house and his time there. Both equally fascinating.

This museum is situated in the house where Handel and Jimi Hendrix both lived at one point in their lives. It covers three floors, the first two are giving over to Handel the third to Hendrix. I was more on interested in the Hendrix part, but it was worth looking at the Handel rooms as well.

  • 3/5 hurrikam 4 years ago on Google
The place offers an insight into the private spaces and lifestyle of the composer Handel and the guitarist Hendrix. Not much to see in terms of instruments. I'd only recommend the place to those who are big fans or particularly interested about the life of the two musicians.
