Unfortunately, I am not happy about my experience with this hostel. At first, I was sent to the room that was reserved for me, where I noticed that there was no bed available. I talked to the manager and he sent me to another room where I found a bed I had to make up myself, which was no problem. A very big problem was the door of the room, which made extremely loud and disturbing noises (including an alarm sound) when it was opened. When people went through that door in the middle of the night, everybody woke up. Also, some peope at the reception watched movies without headphones, so everyone in my room could hear the sounds. And if that is not enough, the manager came in at 6 am, switched the light on and woke everybody up because the room seemed to be overbooked. He asked everybody for their names and removed one guest from the room, who came back later. Being waked up a several times when you need to sleep is, in my opinion, an extremely serious issue. Furthermore, the hostel is in a bad condition. The trashcan in the bathroom is so full that there is trash laying on the ground. Please think twice if you plan to visit this place, and don‘t forget to bring some earbuds or sleeping medication.

Run down house with no working cooking facilities. Showers are of poor quality and the beds are very uncomfortable. Massive amount of rats outside the building

Far from the toilets being communal, the entire hostel is in fact a communal toilet, and is treated as such by staff and guests alike, between whom is a very thin line indeed. Some guests have clearly stayed in this hotel for at least several years, usually due to drugs and/or alcohol rendering them incapable of paying London rent. Rules are merely a sign on the wall to make the small percentage of genuine backpackers feel more comfortable, whilst things such as urinating on the carpets, curtains, walls and beds are no more than frowned upon, as is defacating in one's chosen location. I had a lovely time at East End Beds and can't wait for my next visit.

I’d deffo not stay here again. The room are located in a not to nice area, small room, communal toilets and showers. No hot water so couldn’t have a shower. No towels to even be able to have a shower and had to make our own beds, which when you come to walk round London, the last thing you want to do is waste time making the beds. Heard fighting outside in morning and was dirty. Only good thing was the sink in the room

My stay was for the most part quite pleasant. The location was quite convenient for working in Bow/Ilford because its a minute walk from the district/Hammersmith line and local buses. Surprising had a good sleep despite being on the mile end road and quite were mostly respectful of sleep times. Now the rooms were small but cosy, I was in a two bunker room with four others. It also conveniently had a small sink and mirror to brush your teeth and a long table for your toiletries. However, there was mold on the walls right above my head. The room and also was not central heated which meant it got pretty cold but we did have a small heater in our room which worked well. Bed linens and duvets were provided clean with no extra charge except to bring your own towels and other toiletries. The only thing I missed was extra space to put out coats and bags as no lockers were in the room so I put mine under the lower bunker but our winter coats were all over the place. The showers worked really well but again the bathroom was not heated so I warmed up the shower first which did make the bathroom warmer. It was actually much cleaner than expected and so we're the toilets which had a lot of paper rolls and space. Both were stocked with soap dispensers too. Overall not bad compared to what I expected from the reviews. The central heating could be fixed and added to the bathroom but it was worth it and would stay again in the future, hopefully with the same or better experience.

Two stars just because the people at the reception were really nice, and the location was just next to the tube, but everything else was kept really bad, the toilet and the showers were very dirty, and in 3 days the toilet was clogged twice. Inside the room the beds weren’t numbered bringing people to randomly choose a bed daily. The mattresses were mostly really ditched and old. It’s a shame because with a bit more maintenance it would be a nice place stay.

Even if it’s cheap, I really recommend you to stay anywhere but not at this hostel. There was only one restroom on each floor which was dirty, people’s underwear hanging there for several days, mold in the ceiling etc. In the room (a private room for 3) the bed linen weren’t very clean as was the mattress. Some stains on the walls and in the ceiling in our room that looked like blood. There was a distinct smell of smoke in the building although that was forbidden. It did not feel confortable since other people staying at the hostel looked like they had used some kind of drugs and there was also a clear smell of vomit as we came back one evening. We were at first stopped to go further by another guest, he said it was a complete mess. The staff however was cleaning there but it didn’t feel very well to use the public areas after that. Quite noisy since people were shouting on each other just outside the building and we didnt feel comfortable in the neighbourhood in the evening. It was good that it was close to the underground but when we walked from the station around 11pm there were several policemen arresting a very violent man as we went by. Also high police activity in the area in the night. We left after two nights instead of three since we didn’t feel safe there, but we were pleased with the friendly staff of the hostel.

There was nothing positive about this experience. I'm very traumatized. I would have felt safer/cleaner sleeping on a park bench. Have been fighting for an entire month to get my refund, booking.com ended up having to cover the entire refund. Spend the extra money and stay literally anywhere but here. The room reeked so badly of smoke, as if someone had smoked 40 cigarettes or drugs in there. There was blood on the sheets. Room was absolutely filthy. We stayed for 1 hour while we found a new place to stay. Attempted to make the bed ourselves. Mattresses were yellowing and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was bed bugs. Did not feel safe or clean at all, looks nothing like the photos.

Stench of feces and urine throughout! Reception: The reception was unmanned for a long period of time with the building door locked. And I am talking about the middle of the day. It was impossible to get in touch with any hotel staff via the provided phone number or the doorbell. We had to wait on the crowded streets for half an hour before a staff member turned up. Despite keeping us waiting and not answering the phone or doorbell for this long, he was not apologetic. It seems this is the routine welcome drill here at this establishment. The reception area itself smells of putrid urine. The receptionist seemed in no rush (despite us reminding him that we are in a bit of a rush) and was texting on his phone while checking us in. Took his own sweet time. Had to pay in advance, and only then we were informed that the private room (or as the receptionist called it "suite") was in another building 100 meters away! This was not informed to us at the time of booking or payment. We had to drag our luggage downstairs through the narrow stairway and along the crowded (and filthy) streets to a dilapidated building which was a 10 minutes walk. The neighborhood is extremely dirty with rubbish strewn all around and crowds of people sitting around and smoking. It did not feel like a safe neighborhood even in the daytime. I would be scared of walking around after sunset. On reaching the second building (where the private rooms are located) we were expecting at least a decent setup. To our utmost disappointment, as soon as we entered this building, we were greeted by the stench of feces (I wonder if it was a malfunctioning toilet or the ventilation system is non functional). I was in no mood to walk inside but given that I had to rush to an appointment, I walked in. The stairway was dirty with rubbish strewn across. And we had to climb three stories of narrow stairs holding our breaths for as long as possible (coz of the stench). The owner did not even care to show us our room. He just told us to climb up to the top where the "suites" are located. Room: As we unlocked the room door, an alarm went off. I wondered if we had entered the wrong room. Coz the room looked like no suite I have ever seen. A small bed (supposed to be a double bed) under a slanted ceiling not even high enough to keep the head straight. No windows. A dirty and sunk mattress with some "clean" bed linen for self service. A bathroom with a skylight and no curtains very much visible to the entire outside. And the fecal smell still hanging in the air. I could hardly breathe in there. We dumped our luggage and left for our appointment as we were running late. On our way, while traveling in a cab, we booked another hotel at a lower cost than this place. We came back in a cab to this "suite" (it was dark and dangerous to walk around this area) after our appointment, collected our bags while the cab waited downstairs, and left as soon as possible, trying not to get robbed or stabbed in this meanwhile. Verdict: I just read other people's experiences at this place and it seems very similar to my experience. I wish I had read the reviews before booking this place. I would NOT RECOMMEND staying at this place if you value your personal health, safety and well-being as well as value your money. You can get a private room for similar price in many good hotels located in better neighborhood of London. This place is a nightmare and it should be inspected by authorities (and shut down for violating many norms of hygiene and safety).

The toilet seat was broken, the shower door didn't lock, and we found a mouse in our room. The service and people were very nice, but whenever I tried to call about changing rooms or explaining that there as a mouse in our room no one ever answered the phone. I would not stay here.

Great location and friendly staff. HOWEVER, the hostel was a pigsty. Dirty toilets, showers and rooms. Never any toilet paper or paper towels. The mattress in the double room was filthy and we found garbage under the bed when we checked in. There was no mirror in the room, as described on the booking website. The day we checked out, I realized there was a rat or a mouse in the floor, trying to scratch it’s way in from underneath the carpet (I heard sqeaks and the carpet was moving.) I’ve lived in cheap hostels before, but this was absolutely disgusting. Would not recommend to anyone, not even people i dislike.

Great and friendly staff, terrible and disgusting rooms. The rooms are not vacuumed, they don't provide all the necessary bedwear, the curtains hade weird stains on them and so hade the matress and the covers. It is located in a filthy and loud neighbourhood. To sum up, I would never return. Disgusting and hard to sleep with all the sounds, it is not worth the money.

Terrible! We were in the room for 5 minutes to book new accommodation. This is unreasonable and life-threatening!!!! Mold, cobwebs and dirt on the walls, floors and in the bathroom. Criminal area - There is no way I would ever recommend this accommodation to anyone!!
