Not a good experience at all, it was hard to tell if the staff had no idea what they were doing or if it was just generally managed badly. Soo many things went wrong with my dining experience here . 1. No ribs & no calamari which is of course fine but the waitress was back and forth saying that they didn’t have the ribs, then came back and said there were two portions left only to come back a third time and say that there actually is. Bad communication between staff& kitchen 2. Drinks were good , however service was atrocious . Yes we were a decent sized group, but we had asked for water 3 times to different people only to never get any half an hour later. Every time we’d call over a waiter because we would’ve liked to have ordered more drinks, they would they they would be back but then would never come back 3. Waitress took our order wrong, thought we had ordered 5 portions of fish and chips when in reality it was 2 and the other 3 were supposed to be the fish sandwiches. Then we had all received our food but the 3 other fish sandwiches took another 30 minutes to arrive so by then every one had finished eating what they could. Plus the waitress thought we had 5 portions of Mac and cheese when it was only 3. Mistakes are totally fine but she did not check over our order so it’s no surprise there were mistakes 4. Mac and cheese was disgusting , the curry was the worst thing in the world . I’ve never seen a dry curry before and the naan was rock solid . The wagyu burger was also awful, it was burnt and hard. Onion rings were soggy and chips were either undercooked/ drenched in oil which is obvious by the photos I posted 5. When I had complained and we received the bill. At first I thought everything was great, they took off the service charge, gave us a discount and also took the curry and burger off our bill ( because they were inedible). However , they did not take our £140 deposit off of the bill which to me is outrageous . How do you forget that we’ve already paid £140? Also to make it even worse , added onto the bill was two portions of ribs , which we never received because they didn’t have any and also a bottle of Malbec that we also didn’t receive because they didn’t have any in stock. To me this is just plain carelessness. How do you not check over the bill and take off the items we didn’t get? Overall it was awful

The food was average. They didn't have food & drink in stock. The service was good and friendly. It's a nice place, but I expected much better.

Lovely place. But service terrible. Dinner arrived minus cutlery. Partners dinner was cold. And the chicken presented with all the bone and unders showing .I had to get up and look for cutlery as there was no staff available. Then went outside and waited a long time for a drink. . Would like a refund for my service charge. Please

Popped in here for a light lunch before heading to Docklands museum close by. Both food and wine were very good and service was excellent. Will go back again for sure.

The environment & decoration is nice. The food is not. I order a simple fish and chips, the batter was greasy and the chips were terrible!!! They tasted as if they were old or has if they have been re-heated. Not good.

Culinary Delight Beyond Expectations Dining at The Sipping Room was an unforgettable experience that left me thoroughly impressed and satisfied. The menu at The Sipping Room is a symphony of flavors that caters to diverse palates. Each dish is a masterpiece that showcases the chef's creativity and expertise. I was thrilled to find both classic favorites and innovative creations, and every bite was a delightful surprise. The attention to detail in presentation and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients were apparent in every dish, elevating the dining experience to new heights. I ordered chicken skewer and brocoli. Chicken was very smelly. Even my colleagues were unhappy with their dishes. Not good quality or taste of the food, which is quite disappointing. We liked the Christmas decorations and atmosphere of the restaurant, though.

My first time in this place, I had a brunch with a friend and I didn’t like the food, the poached egg was too well done, not melting as per the photo, and the bun taste was not nice, seemed like a very basic corner shop bread. Then, when we were about to split the bill, the waiter charged us both FULL amount (45 pounds each, instead of splitting) which seemed quite cheeky. I’ve called the manager asking for a refund and I received after a few days, but I wouldn’t go again/recommend.

Beautiful outside seating area, awesome and friendly staff, and delicious cocktails. Stopped in for my first Negroni and was met by wonderful bartenders who were knowledgeable, talkative, courteous, and friendly. Made me a delicious drink! Lots of seating available on a Monday evening.

Have hosted several events at the Sipping Room over the past few years. Managers / staff there are simply fab. They have always been super helpful and responsive whenever we book the place. For those looking for an LGBTQ+ friendly place to have a great time, this is for sure an inclusive venue to do so!

Came here for a few nibbles. Nice seating area, nice bar. Olives were very good, sourdough was very good. Squid was good, a few bits were too tough and there was a lot of chilli on the plate. Would come back.

The Sipping Room hosted us for our company Christmas team lunch and was absolutely amazing in providing great customer service to us all. The food was great, the staff were all friendly and one particular manager who was working with the chefs, who worked downstairs was absolutely accommodating to our needs. I didn’t get his name but a very nice person indeed.

Nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. Couldn't give more than three stars as the main attraction of the restaurant - food was quite average. Some are good but some aren’t. Personally, I love Salmon teriyaki skewers but fried food was a bit greasy, especially the chicken burger which my partner ordered wasn’t well represented and he didn't get impressed with the taste too - but I think it would be nice for coming to get drinks after work, for sure.

Beautiful garden with view on canary wharf. Great atmosphere. Simone helped me with choice of food and cocktails and he made sure about all the details as I have nuts allergy so he asked if I do have any allergies. Very good thank you for this experience

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant and bar with its inviting indoor and spacious outdoor seating areas. The drink selection was impressive, and the food was equally delightful. Being close to the water added to the charm, but do keep in mind that during winter, chilly winds can make outdoor dining a bit brisk. Nevertheless, it's a wonderful spot to enjoy a meal and drinks in a scenic setting.

What a gem ! This place is incredible . Thanks to Anton & his team for making our first visit very special. Can't wait to come back and do it all again. Perfect setting right by the water & close to the DLR...please check it out , you won't be disappointed !

Very poor experience. We arrived and sat at the terrace. It took 15-20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. It appears we had to order and pay online (we just guessed it after long wait). We did and Apparently we ordered something that wasn’t available on that day(which a waiter could have explained if they came to actually do their job). After ordering it took ages to get a starter. No drinks or cutlery. We asked please for the drinks twice and it took another 15 minutes to bring. Only when my friend stood up to get them herself these came. Food average. Overall I feel a robbery that they charge you 12.5% service charge when they do actually nothing and the service is so bad. I will never return just for that apart from the whole bad experience. Soon I will have to get my beer and still pay service charge. Incredible. What a way of laughing at you.

Atmosphere was good, lots of post work drinkers, bar seemed under stocked as 2 times we asked for the house cocktails and were told they didn’t have the stock for it, also the message in a bottle drink, a nice idea however I think the stickers on the bottles need to be replace/removed and potentially wrap something that could resemble paper e.g pandan in the glass to look like a “message”. Overall enjoyable experience however.

Drinks for outside took around 15-20 mins. No big deal as it was quite busy. Glass came with lipstick stains on the lip, didn’t raise it to staff so I just drank out the bottle.

I visited the Sipping Room twice during my stay. Once for an old mans rugby reunion and another having dinner with an old friend. Both experiences were great and the staff were very accomodating and extremely helpful and personable. The outside is well decked out and is ideal for the trendy crypto bandits that work in the area. The inside is ideal for the old man who wants to sup on a pint and eat fish and chips. Whatever you choose the atmosphere during my visits anyway was very relaxed and whatever age you are you will feel comfortable. Check with them during busy times because they have functions there that can limit where you can sit. Enjoy your visit, I did, both times.

Finally paid it a visit for a birthday celebration. It was worth it, a day in the sun by the river. Would have been 5 stars for food, but my daughter was not sold on the vegan burger. All good otherwise.

Overall, the staff and location was really nice. We felt well looked after. The menu was varied and we found something for everyone (we had two kids and I am a vegetarian). The only critique I have is that the food lacked enough flavor.

Really nice atmosphere with Christmas decorations. Went on a Thursday evening and it was surprisingly busy. Staff were very polite. Good selection of vine and food was reasonably priced. I ordered fish & chips and the food quality could have been bit better. Overall was a good experience.

Good place to meet and drink. Amazing to look at and has blankets for outside. Toilets are on the same level so good for disabled people. Good choice of cocktails but waiting times aren't the best! Food is OK, our food was very dry but that was just nibble style food. X

I’d got a great time in restaurant. The food is delicious and I’d got a special service from Aya. She always was smiling and was extremely attentive to us.

Truly dissapointed... When we came everything was alright, our table was ready and got the drinks really quickly, can't complain about that. Ordered some food, nothing special, had to wait nearly for an hour and a half because none of the staff couldn't understand what's happening and where is the food, finally somehow they managed to get it and still half of the order was missing so that really made us sad. Music is so loud can't really hear what other talking in front of you and service charge every time you order doesn't matter on phone or bar that kinda stupid system. If you are coming just for a drinks it's a nice location place but nothing more.

Lovely place and great staff. Totally will come back soon! Me and my girlfriend were really good impressed by the amiability and style of the guy at entrance. He managed a table on a busy day and always asked us if we are happy, well done Thank you Alex!!

Service was slow and took the first round of drinks to another table. Despite we ask the team where our drinks were, it took them over 30 min to work out what had happened. Sharing platters were ok, nothing so delicious and exciting I’d remember.

Visited The Sipping Room at Canary Wharf last week for drinks and nibbles for my wife’s birthday. Good selection of drinks and food, and loved the fact they had blankets for outside dining. Also the heaters worked really well so we were all very comfortable 👌 Would visit again 👍

A very elegant and quite distinguish restaurant that serves good food and has an excellent selection of wines from all around the world. The staff is friendly and engaging in concersations to make you feel welcomed. The view is spectacular, and the feeling you get by looking around is worthy of Canary Wharf. The prices and portion sizes are also aligned with this area, therefore a bit high. The steak was done as asked and was delicious, especially with the peppercorn sausage. The only recommendation I have is about the chips: but too plain and not complementing the meat.

This is a wonderful place to visit with friends/ family/ a date/ colleagues! The cocktails a delicious... The decor, outside and inside, is beautiful. This is definitely a place Instagrammers/ millennials will enjoy taking pics! The staff are all lovely, too.

Not good. WAS good to start with - friendly, etc. Starter was nice. Bit odd that we needed to order at bar when we've got a tab (but were never told table/tab number). Main course never arrived - waited over an hour after our starter plates were cleared. Chased up twice - "it'll be two minutes" - it wasn't. Quality wise, the starters were nice. My partner's second beer (London Pride) was flat and tasted odd - undrinkable. Not sure what the issue is with this place, but the staff we spoke to were all really lovely and seemed to be working hard (particularly the lady with long dark hair who first served us, sorry we didn't get your name!). Probably a nice place to go for drinks at quiet times.

Truly dissapointed... this place gets a two star review and that's at a push. Randomly ended up here. The staff need training on customer service and how to handle disgruntled customers in a professional manor. The food is awful, I ordered Fish and Chips which was drenched in oil, the chips were overcooked, and the mushy peas was like soup. Also, I had to put my phone tourch on to read the menu, music was extremely loud felt it was hard to hear what the other person was saying.

  • 5/5 Tiana 2 years ago on Google
Love this place! I've been twice and I've already mentioned to other friends that we need to go. I just love the decor, it's like a cabin in the woods inside. So cozy and very autumn and winter vibes. However, if you sit outside you're in a cool cute bar on the side of the river. The food is also very good!! It far exceeded my expectations. It gets quite busy during the week so make sure to book ahead of time.

Lovely place I have been coming for years Last night was the first time in two years I had been there since the pandemic and it did not disappoint. Staff are very friendly. Drinks were fabulous.. Service was great. (Our bar man with the ponytail and glasses) was extremely helpful in finding me the perfect drink after the previous one was not in stock. Would definitely come here again

Beautiful place, it's a shame your bar staff is not very friendly, we asked for some drinks and he kept criticising our choices. Train your staff properly, hospitality is a must...

An amazing experience thanks to Anton! An exceptional view and food. We came to celebrate my sisters Graduation and we have nothing but amazing things to say. Everything was easy and the staff are superb! Highly recommend for a private and intimate dinner with friends or family. Thank you for having us!
