👍 Amazing place! Better to check the starting time of every days session before you go there, otherwise have to wait a long time. Each session usually lasts around 50 minutes. Staffs are helpful and well behaved. People often mention rink, skating, experience, time, skate, staff, good, session, people, kids,

Decent Ice Rink. I like that it's covered overhead so there's no chance of rain making the conditions slippery – which is a problem you might face at the National History Museum ice rink. I went on a Monday, around lunchtime, which was quieter, and gave me room to skate rather than the game of trying not to bump into people. Be careful going around the edges of the rink though, it's rough and uneven, so you're prone to tripping.

Best day I've ever had! The staff were friendly and helped me up when I fell, the ice rink was big and had music on while skating. Going in was quick and simple. The place itself was great looking and clean. I would've loved for the tickets to be a little cheaper though, so I could go again, I mean it is quite pricey.

This place is amazing. Best enjoyed if you book one of the first two sessions of the day - as it won't be crowded. I love their music and the big screen and it's great for kids too! They have lots of options for little ones. You can purchase skate aids (they're not included in the ticket price and have limited availability!) or get double blades to tie to your little one's shoes, instead of wearing the one blade skates they offer kids, as the double blade helps kids feel more confident on ice. There's a car park nearby and lots of options for quick and tasty food around. Really recommend this place.

The booking fee, rip off. The website infers that booking online is essential, however it isn't. I think it just so they can increase the price by the £2.50 booking fee. If I'm going online on MY internet and selecting dates and times for MYSELF, why do I need to pay a booking fee? The tickets isn't printed and if it is it's from MY printer! So what is the charge for? Then it was raining, it was more like water skiing than ice skating. When questioned before our pre booked tickets were scan, one of the girls said 'rain makes no difference except that you get more wet if you fall over.' I beg to differ!! There was not even an ice resurfacer before we got on, just pools of water. The polar bear they advertise for £5 and only for 12 and under, was being taken by any one who fancied one! Adults were using them to push their friends around while staff just stood around having a chat (if someone fell and their back wasn't to them they'd ask if they were ok)! These adults misusing these ice aids posed a safety risk to other skaters. Nothing was done by staff! Even the prices are misleading. For ages 4-12 it says 'from £9.95.' You click and the price jumps to £10.95. Early bird was only available on the 1st day, so why is it still showing the prices if people don't have the option? Staff were there in abundance, but had too much time on their hands. They stood chatting while few were taking shoes etc. Not good when there's a queue of wet people (most likely disappointed about the amount of water on the 'ICE skating rink') waiting to get their footwear back, when staff are stood around having a good chat.... All in all a very disappointing experience and not worth the money.

What I liked: The lights there really give the Christmas mood. The ice quality is good and the music is nice. If you don't know how to skate there are the supportive 'chairs' available (see second photo). We went there on Wed evening, it was not too crowdy. I liked the experience at ice-rink CW, 1 hour there has flown extremely fast. What could have been improved: It can be crowdy depending on the date and time. The ice rink is not big and you skate always in the same direction, counter clockwise — it would have been nice to have an opportunity to skate clockwise as well. Booking in advance on the website causes a booking fee, it might be cheaper to buy the ticket directly at the venue.

We bought our twins and youngest for the twins 8th birthday. The whole family had the most wonderful time and the twins were made to feel super special for their birthdays. We have to give special thanks to Eesha, the Deputy Venue Manager, who went out of her way to make my daughter, who has cerebral palsy and autism, feel confortable and confident on the ice after an incredibly shaky start and Oliver, who took our son around for the whole session in his wheelchair.  We really appreciate these amazing little touches to what was already great customer service. Thanks again for a very special day!

My 2023 update: The Ice Rink is OPEN again, until the 24th of Feb! Fantastic! Added a photo of the central Christmas Tree! My 2022 update: It's back again, great as ever, now with a live disco evening every month! Have added pictures of all Disco on Ice sessions. My 2021 review: Absolutely glorious: fantastic location, large ice rink with great ice that is actively maintained with a zamboni, very helpful staff, many stewards on the ice, good skates, plenty of new 'penguin' skating aids and also the new 'banana' sleds that someone can push while up to two people ride on it, including adults!

It was a smaller ice rink but really fun. The staff are super nice. Layering up is important as it's really cold.

Had a wonderful time with the kids! Pre booked online for a time slot. Make sure to get there before your time and to pay the cashier if you need the penguin to help with your kids ice skating. My son really needed it and it saved me and my husband from holding him up.

I found the ice quality to be really good. Pretty smooth and well kept and it wasnt busy (at least after lunchtime on a week day). What really put me off is the prices. You dont get any discount if you bring your own skates (unlike most places). The price is very expensive and they charge a ridiculous booking fee even if you book it yourself online. They also charge for lockers, as you cant leave your shoes and things behind. If it wasnt so expensive I would definetly go again.

Great place to ice-skate. Went there on the opening day, the 22nd of October, a Saturday at 6pm, and it was pretty empty, which was very nice. It was 18°C yet the ice was fine. The only annoyance is that you need coins to use the lockers, so keep that in mind if you want to lock your bag or anything else you might have with you that you don't want to take on the ice.

Helpful and friendly staff. The ice rink size was enough and also, i suggest going there earlier before 1700. We went there and had the experience at 1630 and when we finish our session, it was 1710 and lots of people were waiting outside for the next batch. There’s music too while we were skating. Lovely place! 👍🏻

Went as part of a school trip with the kids. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good size rink. Only downfall is toilets are in a different building. You have to leave the building to go to the toiket, which is a little annoying when travelling with children and small bladders.

Had a wonderful skate today big thanks to Jordon he was giving us good tips and my sister because she has confidence issues but he managed to get her to open up and skate away from the wall. But I have to say the TL on the ice I took his name (Andrew) was really abrupt and rude which then ruined me and my sisters skate experience.

I went on a Monday evening and it wasn't too busy. A little pricey but it's a lovely ice rink and the staff are great.

Quality ice skate rink and well organised but very poor for family viewing, you are not allowed to view anywhere when you go through to the rink and are told to go to the bar outside at the other end which isn’t ideal when you have Young children to look after. The bar was full of drinkers so nowhere to sit and view the rink. Very poor planning and there should be a more family friendly viewing platform.

A nice set up and always enjoy when it's here but you NEED to sharpen and better look after the hire skates.. I had to change skates as the first set was unusable, the 2nd pair was even slightly rusted but just about managed, which is a real shame when it works out at nearly £25 a head.

Its a nice place and everything just we couldn’t stay full 45min because it was over packed. Not everyone knows how to skate so you need to be careful when skating making sure no one bumps in or changes their ways. In my opinion the number of people should be reduced so when you spend 20£ pp you can actually skate without any worries and getting fustrated.

I recently visited Ice Rink Canary wharf and found the skating experience itself quite enjoyable. The ice was well-maintained and provided a pleasant skating environment. However, there were a few areas that I believe could be improved. Firstly, upon entering the ice rink, there was a noticeable lack of guidance or instruction. As a visitor, it would have been helpful to receive some basic instructions or guidelines on what to do and what not to do. This is especially important for beginners or those unfamiliar with the facility. Another issue I encountered was with the storage lockers. While it's great that they provide a secure place to store belongings, the lockers required a £1 coin to operate. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that every time you open and re-lock your locker, it requires another £1. This can add up quickly, especially if you need to access your belongings multiple times. A more customer-friendly system would greatly enhance the overall experience.

The rink itself offers a good experience, it's not massive or super fancy, just a decent-sized rink to enjoy skating on. The star drops go due to staff who seemed not to bother so much and left us waiting for nearly 10 minutes once our session time had already started to provide us with a penguin for our little one. The staff was basically composed of aparently teenagers who were very relaxed just chatting and laughing at each other - we had to ask 2 or 3 times for someone to finally pay attention to us before entering the rink, in a Thursday afternoon when it was not busy at all, there were only about 10-12 people skating max - see photo below. Tip to the owners: Please pay attention to customer service and experience offered beyond the rink itself.

Nestled in the heart of our community lies a winter wonderland, the local ice rink, where frozen enchantment meets the joy of skating. The moment one steps onto the glistening ice, a sense of exhilaration and nostalgia sweeps through. The rink itself is a spectacle - a pristine expanse of smooth ice, meticulously maintained to ensure a perfect surface for gliding. The ambiance is electric, with the echoes of laughter and the graceful movements of skaters creating an atmosphere brimming with warmth despite the cold. What sets this ice rink apart is its accessibility to everyone. From beginners tentatively taking their first strides to seasoned skaters executing elegant routines, the rink accommodates all skill levels. The staff's patience and eagerness to assist, whether in tying skates or offering tips for balance, contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment. The facility's amenities further enhance the experience. A cozy warming area provides respite for chilly fingers and toes, while the snack bar offers delightful treats and hot beverages, perfect for refueling and unwinding after a spirited session on the ice. An added charm is the variety of events hosted at the rink. From themed skating nights to lessons and even competitions, there's always something to engage visitors of all ages. It's a hub for community bonding, fostering a sense of camaraderie among ice enthusiasts and spectators alike. For families seeking a wholesome outing or individuals looking for a serene escape amidst winter's embrace, this ice rink is a gem. It's not just a place to skate; it's a canvas for creating cherished memories and experiencing the sheer delight of gliding on ice, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking winter magic and an unforgettable skating experience.

I booked the day before for a party of 5 for the time slot we required. On arrival, check in was fairly quick. Queued for ice skating boots, managed to get a penguin aid for the youngest. Shame the lockers (£1) aren't free. The 45 minutes does go quickly. Boots returned easily at end of session. The attendants on the ice are good, and were looking out for those that need help. I actually feel that helmets are needed and should be provided. I saw a number of people fall and bang their heads and obviously hurt so much that they were almost in tears. I had a fall and banged the back of my head, but I knew it wasn't serious and I was able to get back up. It is so easy to get concussion falling on the hard ice. Helmets should be the norm like skiing.

We had a fantastic time Ice Skating here, we were lucky and had the rink to ourselves. The staff were lovely and super helpful, they even let us choose any songs we wanted. Way better than our experience at Hyde Park WinterWonderland

Went for an early morning session as I wanted a nice quiet time to really practice as I'm new to ice skating. Hands down the best surface I've skated on so far and really warm staff. Oliver really helped me feel comfortable and gave me some super tips instantly helping me feel 1milllion times more comfortable on the ice. A much recommended visit whilst open

Edit: Make sure you read the FAQ in the website thoroughly before booking. This details the height restrictions on skate aids, as well as the need to book them 30 minutes in advance, and the charge for them which is £5.95. For me and my daughter it was £41. You have to stow any bags, and they charge you a non refundable charge to put your stuff in lockers. Also skating aids are only available to children of a certain height, though they don’t actually measure your kids, and more eyeball it. My seven year old with mobility issues was refused one, so go at your own caution.

The rink is really small and a basic circle shape. After a short while it’s boring. It needs to be a bigger circle and/or different shape (odd shape). The music is also boring bar few songs. And I went on a Saturday evening 8pm, a time I expected to be much more entertaining. Additionally unfortunately there isn’t a water fountain, not even a small bar to purchase soft drinks and snacks. Disappointed. The really positive point is the rink overcrowded, so is it because the rink isn’t popular or is it because the number of skater is limited? A second positive and last point is the session is meant to last 45 min but we’re now over 1 hour and 15 minutes and there isn’t any sign that the session is closing. I’m taking a break and wait for my kids who have more energy than me after skating for that long.

First time visiting. Was a spur of the moment plan and it worked out great. Sessions start on the hour every hour for 45mins. Luckily we arrived at 11.45 so by the time we brought our tickets (everything is purchased online) and changed into my skates it was 12pm and we were good to go. The ice rink is a great size and has a central podium where you can skate to and from. They also have the safety penguins for the younger kids to use for balance and these can be purchased for use additionally. They had free face painting for the kids happening as it's Halloween which was a nice treat and various Halloween decorations throughout. Overall a great experience. Only downside is was on the pricy side. I paid £40 for x1 adult and x1 child so bare this in mind.

Amazing spot! Had lots of fun! Only downside was- way too busy, lots of kids falling all around so there was a lot of zig zag needed. The ice rink used to be a lot bigger in past years - I think...

It was decent. We booked beforehand and got to start skating at the appointed hour - despite it being a peak rush hour on a Saturday evening. It wasn’t super crowded. It was managed well - plenty of people helping out others on the ice, shoe and skate collection were without hassle. We had a lovely time there, worth a visit.

A good experience. Wasn’t crowded on the Wednesday evening we attended. I suppose the numbers were well managed. Although it didn’t have the wow factor but enjoyable nevertheless.

Lovely place to ice skate. Rink is big enough to hold quite a few people, and there is more than enough eateries dotted around Canary Wharf. My daughter absolutely loves it.

  • 5/5 Lisa P. 1 year ago on Google
It was a lot of fun, staff were friendly and helpful. The shoes were comfortable, one might say that they healed my blisters instead of creating them! Cool concept, will probably come back for more.

  • 4/5 Conrad M. 5 years ago on Google
Overall a good experience but I (And those in my group) felt they let on far too many people at once. It's a fairly large rink, well maintained. But it was just too crowded. And this made leaving a pain, as you had a few hundred people all trying to queue for their shoes at once. We did manage to get some good skating in here and there, so I guess that's all that matters. But the experience would have been much better for everyone (including the poor staff) if they cut the number of people per session by half!! The amount they charge, and the fact it's booked up solid throughout the day.. they would definitely still make boat loads of money even with half the amount per session. Probably won't return, but the setting and backdrop in the evening was definitely worth the (one time) experience. I recommend trying it out, (as I said the location and backdrop are quite cool especially in the dark). But be prepared for overcrowding.

Nice venue situated in the heart of canery wharf. Staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. They do a family ticket which is good too. Bookings are done online so don't just show up as you won't be allowed entry. Sessions are 50 minutes. There's a car park local also a shopping centre for those who love to shop till they drop. Excellent day out for the family.

really love the place, come to skate every year, the only reason i don't give 5 starts is becouse of the lockers they have at this place, had to spend £4 to get them closed. you really can come up with some smarter lock up.
