I went to the fish market with my Mum, sister and my nephew. Seeing variety of different types of fish was amazing. We didn't know which one to buy, they were all good and cheap. Fortunately, we went early in the morning, therefore, we managed to see different stalls with loads of various fish and sea foods. We finally brought sea bass, sardines, sprats, large prawns, salmon, mackerel, and large tiger prawns too. There is a car park facility for the customers, however, it is not free. You can take your own shopping trolly, however, you need to leave it at the entrance before you enter the market. There were lots of water and ice on the floor, which was a bit slippery, we had to be careful whilst walking, it made my shoes very wet. Today my Mum will be cooking variety fish dishes, I cannot wait to enjoy the fish feast with my family.

Arrived at 5am for fresher options of fish and seafood. I’d suggest to walk around and check out all the booths before deciding what to buy. You may notice some difference in freshness and you may come to a seller that you feel more like to purchase from. We got a turbot and lots of prawns. For my next visit I will probably get UK sea fishes instead of Turbot (which is from Spain). Looking forward!

The best place to buy fish and seafood in London is at a bustling market hall where a wide variety of aquatic delights are on offer. Billingsggate Market is definitely THE hub for traders who sell everything that swims or crawls in saltwater or freshwater. Select from dozens and dozens of stands and booths. Here's a tip: Arrive early because the freshest and finest items tend to sell out quickly. Bring cash for your purchases, wear practical footwear that can handle a bit of the wet mess, and carry watertight bags or boxes to transport your seafood haul. You can conveniently reach this market from the Canary Wharf Jubilee station, which is a 12-minute walk away, or via the Elizabeth Line. Additionally, there is ample parking space available right at the market hall for those arriving by car.

Went in at about 7am, would probably be considered quite late but around half of the merchants were still around. Wear water resistant footwear as this place is very very wet. Worth the visit but I would say get there earlier to see all merchants if visiting as a non trade. Would come back again, also recommend bringing an icebox or cooler if possible.

I went here on a Saturday around 6am (which is quite late - some shops were closing) but still had a chance to find some good fish with a good price. Go earlier on a weekday if you want the best ones - they sell out very quickly Don’t get off on Poplar station (Elizabeth line) get off at Canary Wharf please it might seem as there aren’t much a difference geographically but it’s so inconvenient from Poplar since you need to walk around extra 15min to get there I would recommend to bring a bag for the fish since some shops give you transparent bags and you wouldn’t want to carry a orange salmon around in central London

If you can wake up very early (around 4 AM) and you like to cook fresh food this is a MUST. The best moment is before 5.30 AM (afterwards traders start cleaning and closing) and have first a tour of all the traders before buying something. Some traders now start having Cash Machines for Card payments which are excellent and you must remember to negotiate the prices. I've checked all the weights for the stuff bought and the urban legend that the hacked scales are fake! Remember to check the period because you can risk not finding some fish due to fishing restrictions related to the period (I have been there at the beginning of November and I couldn't find sacks of fresh clams). The prices compared to what you can buy at the supermarket are insanely cheap and for a total amount of just £50 I bought: - 500gr alive lobster (£18) - 1.5kg of king prawns (cooked flambe' with brandy they were amazing) - 1kg of mussels - 1kg of frozen clams (coming from Vietnam so not the best quality but I needed them for my recipes) - 1kg sea snails (Very dirty and covered with mud, so clean them before cooking or freezing) - 0.5kg Purple dye murex Go there and have fun!

There is simply no place for fresher fish anywhere in London. This place has all local fish for both fresh and saltwater. The quality is great and as a customer you can get there for 7 AM, although please note some stalls will be closing as the place shuts at 8 AM. Staff is friendly and willing to explain and help although don't expect to be given recipes for fish, they are all about turn around. Salmon here is marvellous both fresh and smoked. Actually smoked is a smashing bargain 5 blisters for £10. You can't go anywhere else this good at 5 AM. Fully recommend!!

Brilliant location. Plenty of parking and you could pay either by coin's or by online. A lot of vendors are selling so better go around and have a look first before buying straight away. There's a tea shop at the corner and a washroom as well.

My wife with Najwa & Atiq went to this Seafood Market at 5:00 am, and I obviously didnt want to follow. Apparently, they were quite late already, as the market starts business at 4:00 am!! But what a bountiful harvest did they come back with!! I was very plesantly surprise to find two fully grown lobsters in the kitchen, along with some huge prawns and fresh calimari... I guess tis' the time for seafood dishes this coming christmas...

A totally unique London experience. Billingsgate market has been here since 1982 and not much has changed since then. It's a lovely time warp with wholesale fish sellers with masses of freshly landed fish for sale. It doesn't get much fresher than this. Also astoundingly cheap: a massive whole salmon, half a kilo of samphire and 8 scallops for less than £40. Beware that most of the fish here will require gutting etc. although some stalls will have done it for you already. Wear warm clothes, wellies recommended and don't wear anything you mind getting a tiny bit fishy. Enjoy this while you can, the whole market is moving to Dagenham in 2027.

Come around 6AM, as by 6:30 soem stalls will be wrapping up already. Despite what Internet says, at least some of the stalls accept credit cards now. Be prepared that all fish come with heads, and although salmon was cleaned, I had to clean the parrot fish myself. But then, that's the first time I've see parrot fish sold in London.

Perfect place for the morning! Lucky we came in summer time with sun rise at 4am. The market started from 5am till 7am. This is located next to Hsbc and Canary Wharf. Car parking is already full when we got here at 520. Has to queue for the parking. Very fresh different types of fishes, oysters, sharks, lobsters, mussels. Remember to check prices at different shops, it can be very vary! All shops closing at 7am and we also also leaving. Worth to come.

Brilliant market that I have been here for last 12 years when I am in London. Wonderful fresh seafood in the London region and probably where most big restaurants or other wholesalers get their seafood from. Definitely recommend others for this.

We got there around 7am and there was plenty of choice and almost all the stalls were still open, in fact they were only really starting to pack up when we left around 8am. Definitely wear waterproof shoes and I'd recommend bringing your own plastic bags, too. Some traders do take card payments, but bring cash just in case. Parking was £3.50 for an hour and a half on the RingGo app. Great prices, and great little caff inside. Definitely worth the effort.

Come here early on, plan to reach here before 5, amazing selection of fish to choose from. They mostly only take cash so come prepared with it. We took salmon, some cod and a kilo of prawns. Very fresh and they tasted amazing

Prefect place for seafood lover with very cheap price! You can get a lot of super fresh seafood, including fishes, clams, lobster, crab, shrimp and oyster here, which is non comparable with all other supermarket and fishmonger across London. But of course, you need to wake up very early and arrive at 4am in order to get these freshness choice!

There are about 100 stores on the first floor of the 13-acre building. When we go here, we go around the market and have a cup of hot coffee at the cafe. Then go to the store and choose what to buy. You can easily find it by looking at the HSBC sign on the building that you saw on the road of your visit, and you can meet all fresh frozen and refrigerated products.

The best place to find fish and seafood. You better get there early in the morning, it opens at 4am and much is gone by 6am. This is the largest fish market in London, still ridiculously small for such a large city

Amazing market. Totally worth the early start if the day. We got there at 6 and there were still plenty of fish to choose from. Prices are between 2 to 3 times cheaper than in supermarkets. There's plenty of paid parking spaces and also a cafe that serves breakfast (closes at 10AM)

Fresh seafood with reasonable price. We arrived there at 420am, lots of choices but I believe we can go there at 520am next time as I didn’t see it empty when we left.

The best place to buy fish and seafood in the London area is at Billingsgate Market, a bustling marketplace where a wide variety of fish from around the world and across the UK are available. Billingsgate Market is definitely a hub for buyers seeking fresh fish that may not be readily available in supermarkets. However, there is no cutting or cleaning facility on-site. With numerous traders and booths, it's recommended to arrive early at 3:30 am for easy parking, as the freshest and finest items tend to sell out quickly. The market opens at 4 am. Ensure you pay the parking fees upon arrival using the RingGo app, with a maximum parking duration of 2 hours, extendable if needed. While most vendors accept debit or credit cards, it's advisable to bring cash for your purchases. Sometimes, your card may be blocked by your bank due to transactions with different vendors in a short time, which can be considered fraudulent. Wear separate footwear that can handle a bit of wetness and the fish smell. Carry watertight bags or boxes to transport your seafood in the car. Note that kids and shopping trolleys are not allowed inside; only carry bags are permitted.
