Small park that could be a bit better maintained as it is quite often full of rubbish. The park used to be known as St Mary's Park, as this was the site of the old 14th-century white church, St Mary Matfelon, from which the area of Whitechapel gets its name. St Mary's was destroyed during The Blitz in the Second World War and all that remains of the old church is the floor plan and a few graves that you still can see. The park was renamed after Altab Ali, a young guy who was brutally murdered in a racist attack in the 70s.

This park is historical in the heart of East London. This park accommodates the Shahid Minar remembering the martyrs for Bengali Language move in Dhaka 21st February 1952. It was named after the victim of racist attack, Altab Ali. The park is spacious for the kids play around.

Quite why this place is down as an attraction is a puzzle. As parks go, it's reasonably well kept. Being the site of a former church, there'a a few pieces of artefacts left over. Otherwise it seems to be a hangout for the local homeless, drug dealers and their clients. Only visit f you're REALLY REALL interested in local history

Altab Ali Park is located off London’s famous Brick Lane. As soon as you leave Brick Lane and head east into Altab Ali Park you can really smell the fumes from fresh paint released by plenty of spray cans. During the day, you can watch graffiti artists live creating their murals. A lot of these artists will bring their equipment, selection of paint and ladders to the park which is great to watch. And one more thing which makes this park special is that it is directly adjacent to a city farm further east of the park which is home to goats, lambs and donkeys.

A small but a very unique park dedicated now to Altab Ali which it has renamed after his murder there in 1978. There it used to be a church called St Mary Matfelon and it was built with white stones and that is where the name White chapel is originated from of the area. You can still see the foundations today and there are a few tombs from the cemetery from 1826. The wall around the park it was built from the stones of the church, which you can see by walking around it. The park is busy with office workers and dog walkers. The park is near Aldgate East Station and opposite Whitechapel gallery.

This is a small but historical park as it’s named after the martyred Altab Ali. Altab Ali was murdered by the White fanatics in 1970’s. The park has a significance to the Bangladeshi community in the East London as it has a ‘Shahid Minar’ in it, to commemorate the Language Movement ‘Shahids’ ( martyrs ) of 21st February 1952.

I wish it were to look like as green and clean as the photo. It is a very good initiative to have the memorial shohid minar in the heart of London. But the the park environment needs urgent attention. I would like to request the council and whoever is responsible for its maintenance to make sure that the park is worthy and safe for us to enter and spend some time with family and friends. It is always crowded by people who are not safe to be around and its very very dirty. I have seen many using it as a place to drink and consume illegal drugs. Compared to the other parks I visited in London this is the worst. It feels like we named it after Aftab Ali not to remember what happened to him but to disrespect his act of bravery.

OK during daylight hours, gets dodgy real quick as soon as it gets dark. A lot of needle users, please be careful if you go through the park with little children.

A lovely small park a short walk from Aldgate East tube station that has a green square allowing for some breathing space in contrast to the cramped and often claustrophobic environment the surrounding streets and alleyways have. A good place to sit and have a coffee, or meet with friends. There are decent public transit connections and a cycling superhighway nearby. However there are sometimes smokers or drunk people around, so do take care especially after work hours.

Dirty, litter and dog-waste ridden, with scabbed-out lawns and chipped monumental seating. Your caricature of a city park.

Good place to visit if you are a Bangladeshi, the rocks and the grass and other seating places provide plenty of space to sit. However, sometimes there are people there who might make other people uncomfortable, like drunk people, addicts etc.

It's an amazing place to spend some leisure time. For Bangladeshi people, you will love see a Shahid Minar here which is representing our pride. With some snacks with your few friends, it's not a bad place spend time.

Small park near Brick Lane in Shorditch. Good enough to sit and spend some time alone. Not suitable for exercise or running in my opinion.

The park is interesting because was the place where the church which gave a name to the borough, the 'white chapel' that stood there since medieval times. You can see some remainings and even sit by them.
