Found an amazing little hidden gem near our place! It’s a lovely atomsphere authentic Izakaya (居酒屋) run by a friendly Japanese chef Taro and his wife Eliza offering a true Japanese experience. The quality and freshness of fish was really awesome. We ordered few dishes, Fried Oysters and Chicken Karagee are especially delicious and authentic. Really hard to find a good Japanese restaurant in London, glad we found this place. 美味しい 😋😋😋 May 27, 2021 We were here last week and revisited yesterday with my children for an afternoon lunch. We ordered Chirashi Don set and Curry Chicken Karaage set, both are very good. Very happy to find this tiny jewel, will continue to visit to explore more dishes 😋 June 4, 2021

Lovely, quite small and intimate izakaya style dining experience. Food was good, sashimi was of high quality and freshness (compared to many other places in London!). Will surely come back - karaage and grilled dishes were good as well.

Food: This type of restaurant is like your Japanese version of tapas where you share little dishes. Great quality tasting dishes and variety to choose from. Service: The Chinese lady with glasses was friendly and provided excellent customer service. Atmosphere: Nice little restaurant with only limited to seating, so make sure to book a table to avoid disappointment.

Food was great but on the pricy side. We were not full after spending £30 each at dinner. Lunch will be much better option.

For me, this was an overrated restaurant. Despite higher prices, the choices were limited. I ordered many of the recommended dishes, including sashimi, handmade dumplings, and fried oysters. As the picture shows, the sashimi seemed like a frozen supermarket product, or possible freezing and handling issues in the restaurant. The fried food was excessively hot. We were greeted by a student part-time employee who was very friendly and positive! We immediately mentioned that the fried food was too hot, to which the employee responded, “It's tastiest when it's extra hot”.

Price Lunch: £11 and up Dinner: Min £30/ppl Popularity: Reservation advised to avoid frustration. Very authentic. You can extrapolate their efforts to resemble the Japanese cuisines simply from their wasabi pick. It’s almost like the real one! (P.S. Wasabi root mash can be as expensive as your sashimi!) Tuna & Toro Definition of Umami. Toro was more to the lean side. Tuna said to be from bluefin tuna. Assorted Mini Don A bit of everything! Make sure you also add their homemade shoyu. Deep Fried Oysters Nicely done! Well coated and oysters within are still fresh and mildly sweet.

This is by far the best hidden gem that I've discovered in London. The food is incredibly tasty and authentic (especially the deep fried chicken cutlet!), and the owners and staff are easily some of the friendliest people that I've ever met! 10/10

Really great Omurice (omelette, curry, and rice) lunch special, and the people were really nice! Great quiet and cozy lunch spot.

I wouldn’t call it a destination restaurant but if you work or live locally, it’s a nice place to have homely, decent Japanese food. They also have Kirin ichiban on draught which is a bonus 🤣😋 Service was warm and friendly 😊

Very good quality, and excellent value for money. Friendly people who served me after initially saying they were closing up as they’d been really busy and run out of most things on the menu. Interior is simple, clean and modest (with a scruffy corner with boxes and old furniture so some may be a little put off) but if you’re looking for authentic, good sashimi with some pickles and soup, with no fuss, you’ll be impressed.

Authentic Japanese food can be found here as a hidden gem in Canary Wharf! It was served very quick!

We were very excited to go and try some traditional Japanese food at this place as it has such high ratings. However it turned out to be very small and cramped which meant the waiters were stood right behind us watching the whole time. So not the best place for a date night, but that’s fine. Food was okay, super small portions. 12 pieces of sashimi for £30. They were also out of many ingredients. Overall we paid £80 for 2 and left hungry. Wish I could give this place more stars but we just didn’t feel like it was worth the price we paid.

Amazing sushi. You will need a booking and the cost is a bit higher, but definitely worth it. The atmosphere is perfect here as it only has a couple of tables, making it feel very intimate. Perfect for dates.

The service attitude is sososo bad. We went there at noon, their order is according to the number of people. For the service, which we feel so rude is that when there were more people at the opposite table than us, they didn't serve us, even we arrived here is earlier. It doesn't compare to the fact that there are more people at the opposite table than we are. It's ridiculous. Also they urged us to order. We feel really bad from now on. The good mood of the day is gone. It should be a happy meal but not. Will never come here again. If you wanna Experience bad service, you can try here~ BTW the food is okay. Hope everyone can have a nice day, although I don't have it today. F^k🥰

The best new restaurant I've been to in a few months, and I'll definitely be back. Amazing sashimi - the tuna was possibly the best ever tried - at a reasonable price, and generally a great, satisfying, home-style cuisine (try the omelette!). Very friendly service, free tea and cozy atmosphere. Brilliant place, well done!

A good place to go if you missed a good authentic homecooking Japanese food. Bear in mind the place is very small, so book in advance is recommended. They have different menu during dinner and lunch. I always come during lunch, never during dinner, although they offer more dishes selection during dinner.

Really delicious, authentic food! Reminded me of my time working in Japan. My husband and I came here for lunch with our baby. I had the sashimi which was good, but his karaage was 😍😍😍😍 I can’t wait to go back and get my own portion of it. The owners were really kind and friendly as well. Reasonably priced and great portions.

My wife and I love coming to Uoichi. The food is great and well priced. It's restaurants like this that make living in Canary wharf great. We love the owner and his wife as well. Always important to have bookings done in advance though as the number of tables are limited and the owners try and manage the amount of food they keep on hand based on the bookings for that particular day.

There aren't many tables, so do book ahead if you can. Beautiful izakaya dishes to share. Would recommend the tofu, and sashimi.
