Terrible hotel - staff that barely acknowledge you exist, the carpet are the filthiest I have ever experienced, room is meters from the BUSY railway lines. No air-con or fan so your only choice is to leave the window open(handle broken) or sweat. Bedding is a thin sheet, bed was actually ok. Bathroom is filthy, soap/gel dispensers are empty. Managed to get a little bit of sleep before the 04:45 train rolled by. All for the bargain price of £200 a night.

I generally try to avoid writing negative reviews. Until now. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my life. The man that checked us in was rude and uninterested, he barely even acknowledged us. The room was on floor 4. The carpet is absolutely filthy, the bathroom is dated and dirty, the bathroom window doesn't open at all, the room backs on to a ridiculously noisy train track for the DLR which goes past every 3 minutes until 0030 and starts again at 0530. There's no air con, and the room was like a sauna, you have a choice of opening a window 2 inches and being deafened by the trains or closing them and being so hot you sweat just sitting still. The bed is hard, the pillows are like rocks. The whole thing is dirty and dated. For £109 a night I'd have expected better.

The room was not clean stains on the curtains, limescale on the shower head. Shower not cleaned properly limescale on shower floor and had a funny smell. Went to the premier inn the next day for roughly the same price better value for money. One member of staff had no emotion when welcoming me and was what to go for her cigarette break. It was my first time staying at this particular travel lodge. Apart from that staff were okay, the gentleman also working on the desk was friendly and nice. Worst travel lodge I’ve stayed in.

On the positive side: my bed was reasonably comfortable. On the negative side: the hotel is generally pretty scruffy with really old and faded carpets; it's RIGHT next to the train line so if you want to sleep in much past 6am it's impossible; we had no shower gel in our bathroom and when we asked for it to be replenished nobody bothered so we were still without it the next morning; and there seemed to be a mass issue with key cards on the Saturday night, with loads of guests having to come down to reception saying they couldn't get into their rooms. Best avoided.

Good location for sightseeing. Rooms were clean and tidy. Excellent shower. Excellent breakfast (buffet type) with plenty of choice. Two Minor irritations :- Couldn't get anyone to serve us with some food late evening. Asked us to wait until the night shift came on, when they did, they said they were out of pizza bases. £9.75 for breakfast which is a good price but every day we were there they never had any change so paid £40 for 4. Please call it a tenner and be honest to everyone. Would stay here again though

We paid £92 for a twin room on a Saturday in mid-June and were very satisfied. The manager and staff bent over backwards to be welcoming. We were able to leave our luggage before check-in and the same after check-out. Buffet breakfast would have been £9.75 but we had breakfast on the high street.

Although this hotel has been reviewed on its “Noise of trains” yes they are noisy but anywhere in London is noisy! However the polite, pleasant and extremely helpful staff need recommending! Colleen and Sarah are a credit to your team travelodge! They made us very welcome! Rooms are clean and tidy and come with a fan which is a bonus in London something I wasn’t even given staying in tower hotel the week before!

If I could rate this hotel a negative five, I would. DO NOT STAY HERE. Is the location good? Yes, it is a quick walk to Tower Bridge, and Tower Hill. Is it worth it? No. Immediately upon arriving, I knew that this place was not good. The outside is nothing like it looks like it in the images they have, there is an alley way in between some of the rooms where 'the homeless people live' but don't worry because 'they are friendly' as one staff member said to me when I said I did not feel safe. The reception do not both making sure you are who you are during check in, the key card system was broken, and overheard another member of staff on the phone to their manager stating 'everyone is quitting, no one is here to clean the rooms, we have no kitchen staff, I can't deal with this alone'. Furthermore, I had a staff member directly tell me 'you should have stayed at a premier inn'. My room after being moved from the alley way due to my safety concern was next to the lift and train tracks, all you could hear and feel was the train - it was so loud that the room shook and let's just say I had no sleep that night, perhaps it would have been better just to sleep on the streets. My bathroom had not been cleaned, there was pubic hair or beard shavings in the sink which never drained out, and it was just awful. I was so thankful to be leaving the next day.

Location of hotel is adjacent to railway track! Ideal room if you are a train lover and deaf otherwise extremely noisy. The staff were very attentive. Breakfast was a good buffet style which was replenished as required

Was rather tired but room was clean. Was close to DLR train line but this was not a problem in the room we had (410) picked this hotel as was conveniently situated for what we had planned . Breakfast was really good and all the staff were great.

Whoever labelled this Travelodge, a 3 star hotel, should be jailed. If I knew this place was this pathetic, I would not have accepted the booking to lodge here. I have never seen such a pathetic and disastrous hotel since my existence. Noise all through the night. This is not a hotel but a hostel!!!! What I do not understand is why anyone would book such a place for someone. Walking through a very lonely road to get to this place was so scary. I was so scared of being mugged. Gosh! I feel so miserable coming to the hotel. Never again!!!!!!!!!

Decent hotel, the room has everything you'd expect. It's all clean and well maintained. Good value for money. The hotel is right next to a railway and close to a railway bridge, so it's a noisy location. You can hear the passing trains clearly. The main entrance is on a street that didn't feel very safe at night.

Windows did not open. No air conditioning, just a fan in the room for air. Asked for 2nd pillow to be advised that in the whole building, no extra pillows were available. Have stayed I a lot of travel lodes over the years, but this has to be the worst experience we have had so far. With no apology or solution offered when problems raised

Beyond grim! Those are the only words to describe this place. It’s a place so bad I’m not sure even Allan Partridge would want to stay here. My room was tired, stained and immediately overlooking train tracks (like I could almost touch the train) with minimal sound proofing with the windows shut. Combined with the fact there’s no air con this made for a tropical climate so creating the fun dilemma of choosing to open the window or not when weighing up if you want to slowly sweat to death or listen to the trains rumble past your head at 10 meters. Oh and the staff have no interest in helping at all. Avoid this place at all costs!

Had a one night stay here for a business trip. I purposely chose this one over others of a similar distance from where I needed to be; I'd read reviews before booking and thought a hotel so close to a railway line that it shook the building when trains came past sounded so funny. And well, I wasn't disappointed. The C2C and DLR services really do run about 50 metres away from the rooms facing that side. You really get the experience of sleeping in a railway station. Great for people-watching and for rail enthusiasts, but means bringing earplugs to be able to sleep is absolutely non-negotiable. WiFi login system was baffling, beds and towels were spotless, front desk staff were lovely. Shower worked fine. Kettle, iron, hairdryer provided. I can't reasonably give this more than 3 stars but it was quite a novelty and it's a fantastic location at the price you would expect.

Its okay for a short stay. There’s train lines just beside the hotel. Many rooms will have issues with the noise of train passing all the time. So make sure you get a room other side of the rail passing. The water pressure is horrible. The breakfast starts at 7 and goes till 9 am. Not the best in the town but you get something to eat. I was given a room with window broken but later changed to another one. The staffs are friendly and try to help.

Probably the worst hotel i ever stayed in the noise of the trains going past felt like i was actually inside a train station 🚉. Carpet dirty and stained in the room. I do not recommend. only decent this was that it was near where i needed to be for work.

Now, I can't stress this enough, everything I suspect to be with the staffs control was excellent. They were a credit to the hotel, they were professional and helpful at every stage, I didn't have a bad interaction with any of them. But, the bad things outside their control. Breakfast, nicely cooked and presented with the space but quality of ingredients not good, eggs were pretty much white with no real colour, bacon was a good percentage fatty and coffee machine was awful. Rooms, clean but badly planned, had to change from first room as taps mounted on side of bath and the shower head above, the shower head holder was broke so the only position it was in meant I was literally touching the wall and the curtain while doing a stretch to miss the taps, had to change rooms. Second room just as clean and well presented but again taps mounted mid bath so you couldn't really get under the shower, I have the bruises on my legs to prove it! WiFi, free for 30 minutes and then have to pay, this was a business trip and it's 2023, I mean, come on, charging for WiFi, catch up, had to piggy back of my limited phone speeds as expenses to tight for food let alone WiFi as well. Lift, needs some love, doors don't quite close and one of the times there was 3 of us in it and it flashed up errors about being overweight, supposed to take 8? TV, worried, decent signal and good picture but the mount was rather loose, live how you could turn it to bed or desk though. Desi chair, not a good design, meant it could go under the desk so wherever I put it was in the way and couldn't really use the desk as chair didn't reach as client go under. Bathroom, needs a little love (apart from the afore mentioned shower) hooks loose etc and as silly as it sounds but toilet paper worse than stuff I used to get in primary school! Just to reiterate, staff excellent, but what I suspect to be the head office controlled stuff really let's them down, cmon corporate get in touch with your hotels and help them out, the WiFi situation alone puts me off the whole chain for future events.

Bedding and towels spotless. Room and bathroom quite tired. Shower was powerful but temperature kept going cold every 30 seconds or so. That didn't matter though as it was a pleasure to be cold as the room was so hot (no AC and no heating but it was the middle of October! It must be unbearable in summer). The bathroom was even hotter still as the large mixer tap on the sink was at least 50c (almost too hot to touch), so must have been warmed by conduction from the pipes and was acting like a mini radiator. Once turned on it took a while to get cold water. I would have opened the window to get some cool air but being at the rear of the hotel my room was level with and maybe 30 feet from multiple DLR(?) rail lines. From about 5am there was a train every couple of minutes. I'm partially deaf and even without hearing aids I heard it all night and you can also feel the sound through the building fabric anyway. Buffet breakfast was ok and a pleasure they had a few vegan options. The street is a little dingy and quiet and shady and I could imagine lone female travellers may be nervous if walking there on a dark evening. If I was able to guarantee a room on the front I imagine it could upgrade to a 3 star rating.

Stayed here for 2 nights and definitely won't be returning. Carpets blood stained dirty mouldy bathrooms heating doesn't work in the rooms so can be quite cold. Windows look like they haven't been cleaned in years. We stayed on the first floor absolutely filthy had to step over a pile of towels and a hoover for approximately 36 hours of the trip. Keys had to be reprogrammed to each room most nights as they didn't work. Breakfast very poor never any change not much flavour generally all in all a shocking hotel and needs shutting down

Our room was good, we got a family room and it was spacious. Location was good, but the corridor floor was messy. The cleaning vacuum was on the corridor the entire time we were there, it should have been moved as the corridor was small so there wasn’t space for us to walk properly

Whilst this Travelodge served its purpose, I won't be back. The reception service was efficient, friendly and polite but beyond the noisy metal ramp to the lift, think building site or emergency evacuation, the corridors were dingy with exhausted carpet and my room, whilst perfectly clean and made up, was very poor. And don't get me started on commuter train noise! Again, there's nothing actually wrong for this hotel's function but it's now so out-dated, noisy and poorly located... but, I must say once more, the receptionist was very good 'front of house'.

Fine if you are on a budget. Great location for the Tower of London. Nearest tube station is Tower Hill. Just be aware that this is right next to the DLR and the trains will wake you up at 5 am! Room was clean and beds very comfy. Very hot, no air conditioning but there is a fan in the room. We were there for 2 nights which was enough with disturbed sleep.
