A whiskey lovers paradise staffed by complete enthusiasts! Their approach is to have 3 cabinets, and that's how they sort the whiskey to flavour. Their pricing mechanism is very straight forward too, coloured dots on the bottles showing their price bracket, but only going up to about £30 a dram. The centre piece though is an oak table that holds their cocktail whiskey for about a week and then they bottle it. Very clever! I love it!

A different approach to the world of whisky. The display cabinets are divided into flavors, making it easier to explore a new brand based on your taste. The table cocktail is unique and you can see the whiskey aging inside the table! No wonder they won so many awards for the specialist whiskey bar!

This was hands down one of my favorite whiskey bars to check out in London! I brought a few friends who are not into whiskey at all, and even they had a great time talking with the employees, trying some unique whiskeys, and sampling some of their cocktails. I tried both the Scotch and American old fashioneds that they age within the giant Oak Table that runs through the middle of the bar, which is super awesome! They have a glass channel on top so you can look into it and see the cocktails resting in the Oak, super unique. The cocktails were excellent, and the way they had organized the whiskeys in the cases based on flavor profile and intensity was amazing! I got a chance to try out some unique whiskeys that I've never tried before, and the staff was more than kind to pick some out for me based on what I liked and don't like! It's so much fun to see how passionate everyone we spoke to here is about whiskey! You could take someone who hates whiskey, bring them here, and I guarantee that they'll leave with a different impression on it! Huge thanks to everyone here and especially Alex for making our visit something special!

Loved this place, so glad it popped up on a random Google Maps scroll. Great ambience in this cozy tasting room and the staff are very well versed in their profession / passion for whiskey. Amazing selection of course with an easy to understand pricing system and water literally on tap at each table.

Hard to find, but excellent whisky bar in London. They have a great selection of whiskies and the staff is very knowledgeable to help introduce you to new ones as well. It’s small, so be sure to make a reservation before you go!

If you are into whisky - this is a really cool bar. The service is really good - the waitress was really helpful, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. I really love their old fashioned cocktails which they age in the oak wood tables. We also took a discovery flight tasting menu of three whiskeys - which was good.

Just stumbled upon this place with my mate after visiting the Barbican Centre last night and really pleased that we did. If you like whisky/whiskey or just want to try something different, definitely check it out. Probably the best old-fashioned I've ever had and really friendly, knowledgeable staff who helped us pick two drams to try from the many options in the cabinets. Will be back again for sure!

When we stumbled into black rock we didn't even know it was a specialty whiskey bar. Imagine the surprise of descending into a cozy single dimly lit room bar. The whiskey connoisseurs were extremely knowledgeable and helped up navigate the impressive collection based on our preferences. Although the room is small, it is well laid out, intimate and welcoming. I really like the long oak table that centers the room.

3 people. we sat down, ordered rounds of wine and jagerbombs. We discovered it was happy hour so we ordered a round of pints. We ordered a second round of pints within the happy hour deadline. When the bill came we were charged full price for second round of drinks. Didn’t mind paying extra but I’m unhappy with the principal of the situation, manager/supervisor wasn’t interested. Food was good but poor service. won’t go again

A fantastic experience at one of the few whiskey bars in London. You can feel the passion the team has for what they're doing, and their knowledge was invaluable in guiding the evening. Whiskey selection itself was excellent including a few rare treats, they cycle through their bottles relatively frequently so there'll always be something new for the locals. Make sure to book in advance, and go enjoy a dram!

Very impressed! A place with a unique vibe, knowledgeable and cool staff members (particularly Dexter) who really know their whisky inventory;-) Also, unforgettable cocktails. It was an experience like no other. The only tiny, tiny disappointment was the lack of any food as we planned to have snacks there alongside our drinks, but ended up turning up to our booked table with empty stomachs and finding out there was no food available that evening. We got dizzy very quickly as one can imagine, but luckily some small bowls of popcorn came to the rescue from the considerate members of staff;-) Thank you for making this place so special.

If you like whiskey this is the place to go. Hidden under central London is this gem of a bar. Vast selection and staff with an incredible knowledge of all things whiskey. They clearly love their job and have the knowledge to back the passion. Their custom old fashioned blend sitting in their custom cut table acts as a centerpiece to this place would highly recommend.

What an experience. Walked in on a Saturday night not knowing one needs a reservation and was lucky enough to be welcomed for half an hour, only to be allowed to stay for longer. They have 250 whiskeys which will grow to 400 at the end of the year. What matters more is that they have such wonderful staff who can help you choose the right whiskey for you. A great experience, especially because of the staff!

Nice atmosphere, and a fun setup if you’ve never been to a whisky bar before - several different whiskies arranged in cabinets by flavor. It was rather disappointing to me, as the staff was not very helpful in choosing a whisky, and unlike many whisky bars, they did not offer tasting before buying a dram. The whisky selection was also quite small (maybe 50-100 total whiskies).

I wish I had this bar in the US. The whiskey selection is great, the waiters were super knowledgeable and the cocktails were some of the best I've ever had. I will 100% go back the next time I'm in London.

Nice selection of whiskies from around the world, some rarer than others. Crucially, very knowledgeable staff. There are two house whisky rivers on tap which have been expertly blended as ready pour cocktails. It’s a nice atmosphere and there’s water free flowing at the table - handy for remaining hydrated as well as adding a few drops to open up your dram of choice! Pricing is fairly reasonable with none of those on offer breaking the bank.

Really love this place. Very good choice of whiskies, organised by the dominant flavour profile, quirky atmosphere, and a long table which doubles as Old Fashioned cask! What else do you need? Did I mention the weekly tasting sessions with different distilleries? Definitely a place to try!

Great whisky bar. What an I credible selection. Over 400 whisky’s and the staff was so knowledgeable about the flavors. The table was also incredible they were aging whisky under the glass. I had a great time with the flights and will definitely visit again to try the cocktails.

Absolutely brilliant experience, the team were really patient and happy to help. They had a lot of knowledge on whisky but also listened to our rather inexperienced opinions. Great set up, love the vibes and well thought out with a tap on the table. We ordered 2 flights and were able to test a lot of whisky between us. Only 2/3 servers so could get slow in places but totally worth it

A great sub-terrainian bar specialising in whisky's from all over the world. Painted black with large oak tables like you have never seen before gives this place an atmosphere which is second to none. We went for a guided whisky tasting there, which was a real experience. Our host delivered information and guidance with an enthusiastic manner and we left feeling we had had our horizons opened ... Japanese Whiskey! Who knew. I can't recommend this great bar highly enough.

Amazing experience for people who like whisky. The food is ok, the staff and service is really great, and the atmosphere is very nice and cosy. Although they did not have a bunch of whiskies that I asked for, they still have a large assortment of options

Cannot rate this place enough. Took my husband here for his birthday and we were instantly made to feel welcome and the team.worked so hard to make our night personal and special. We got an extra dram on the house, they moved us to our own table, the staff were super knowledgeable about the whiskeys and they have over 350 to choose from! Oysters were top notch too! Thankyou all so much. Big thanks to Dexter our personal bar tender.

Not sure what all the hype is about. It's a decent, if slightly pretentious, place with a fairly decent collection of whiskey. Quite expensive for the booze that is actually on sale. Nothing great to write home about. Staff seemed very stand offish and condescending and unfriendly; definitely wil not go back just for the staff.

Got sat right away even without a reservation, but then were ignored for 25 minutes before we left. Two other couples without reservations who arrived after us were seen to right away. Tried to get the attention of the 3 staff on to no avail. Left and they didn't even poke their heads out. The bar is small so easy to see we had been sat without even water glasses for ages. Not a nice way to end our Valentines date night!

A hidden gem of Shoreditch. Cosy , relaxing place in a dimly lite setting. Small bar and it's popular so booking ahead recommended. The whiskey selection is really good , the bottles are organised in cabinets by flavours from light to heavy, very clever and makes choosing a little easier. We been looked after by Glen , he was extremely knowledgeable , fun and provided an awesome service. We tried some of the snacks too , my days it was the best scotch egg I have ever had. Made on a spot too ! Also recommend to leave your credit cards at home ... Easy to get carried away 😂 It was a perfect date night , we be back ! If you love whiskey you must visit too and if you don't you might just start liking it after your visit to the Black Rock 😋

Amazing whisky bar, best I've been to in London (or in fact, anywhere). Knowledgeable, friendly staff who are happy to help with recommendations whether you're new to whisky or not. Great organised whisky 'library' and super interesting table in the middle of the place where they are making their own whisky blend. Even if whisky is not your thing, their cocktails are amazing, and it is completely ok to ask what they'd recommend for someone who doesn't like whisky! They also have beer and great snacks, including oysters and the best scotch egg I've ever had (which can take some time, but is so worth it).
