I visited here in September 2022. It is an interesting little museum focusing on its former owners, the sculptor Dora Gordine and her husband, the Hon. Richard Hare, a scholar of Russian art and literature. It is easy to reach on public transport with frequent buses stopping closeby

Fascinating place. Best enjoyed via a guided tour and take a moment to watch the short documentary about the house to get a good insight into the life of the artist Dora Gordine.

A must see art gallery/ artist’s home for the fabulous story of the sculptor Dora Gordine who also designed the house and studio. What a woman and what a life she lived. I hope someone makes a movie about this inspirational artist.

Great house well worth a visit. Toilets inside no coffee shop though. They were just building a tea room today so I'll try that when we visit again. Intersting short film on the work and life of the sculptress who lived here. Lots of her beautiful work all around the rooms.

The opportunity to see where an artist worked as well as their work is always special, and Dorich House is an interesting building in its own right, as well as housing Dora Gordine's sculpture studio and, on the top floor, impressive apartment rooms and roof terrace (open to visitors). You need to book free visits in advance and we practically had the house to ourselves, an added bonus. After our tour and watching the informative 20min biographical film, our welcoming and knowledgeable host served us with tea and cakes in the garden -- you don't get that kind of service too often 😁

Worth a visit to look at the house and the architecture. Not a huge amount of art on display, which is mostly the sculptures of Dora Gordine who also lived there. Recommend booking to get a guided tour to learn more about the history of Dorich House and Dora Gordine herself. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

I've lived in Kingston 45 years and first time visiting this house, though wanted to go for many years. Absolutely wonderful place, we spent over 2 hours there. Our fabulous volunteer tour guide Alison gave an interesting and insightful walk around, which wet our appetite to spend another hour meandering on our own. Dora Gordine and Richard Hare were fascinating characters and you can feel their presence. Many interesting artefacts in this unusual house. Can't believe more people don't visit.

I was really looking forward to my visit at the Dorich House Museum. I absolutely love art and have been captivated by Dora Gordine’s story for a long time. Although the collection and grounds did not disappoint, the same cannot be said for the staff. Lynesse (I think that’s how you spell her name) could not have tried harder to make me feel out of place. She was cold, she was off, she was rude - but treated the other [white] patrons a lot differently. Despite Dorich House Museum making a blanket statement in 2020 attesting to its commitment to be anti-racist I don’t believe Lynesse got the message. It’s such a shame as the Dorich House Museum platforms art from different cultures, however, it seems that living people of colour are still not welcome within their spaces.

We went for an exhibition open house and wound up participating in a holiday ornament making workshop conducted by a local artist. It was an unexpected and enjoyable activity. Kudos to Anna for enticing this very art and craft anxious person from immediately fleeing at the thought of creating crafty things! Great teacher!

I absolutely loved this little museum. A fascinating place, wonderful art and architecture. Also a brilliant presentation of the story of Dora and Richard and the creative home they built together. Also a small cafe and bookshop; we had tea and cake whilst browsing some wonderful books. Ring the doorbell and enter the 1930's... Parking available.

Took our 5 MONTH BABY, perfect for a short trip to get out the house. Friendly staff, very clean, nice and warm. Lots of sculptures and art work to enjoy. Interesting history and the house is beautiful. Could have stayed longer by enjoying the garden, reading all the information and have a tea etc. Parking available.

We know the house & museum quite well from previous visits. It's a little gem. Today there was a lunchtime concert by music students from Kingston Uni. What a talented bunch they are, and a credit to their tutors.

difficult to find the entrance and the museum was not very interesting itself. There is no disabled accessibility. the cafe was overpriced and was not really a cafe, just a room with tables and some sugar sachets that sat on top. there are toilets available and parking. there is a an OK rooftop but overall the museum itself was rather plain and would not recommend.

I found the collection to be disappointing and somewhat threadbare. I also have to agree with other reviewers who have commented on one of the managers (Lynesse) who comes across as thoroughly unpleasant and unwelcoming. I get the impression that this museum does not like receiving visitors that much.

A gem of a place that has been on my list for a long time ! It’s full of wonderful sculptures and the history of the house built in 1936. Really worth a visit and a tea room for coffee /tea and cakes .It’s also free with tours on some days .If you are interested in architecture ,sculptures by Dora Gordine Russian Icons and the story of this fascinating couple then strongly recommend a visit .

Dorich house is such an underappreciated gem. A beautiful collection of sculpture in the artists home/studio. Free entry. Friendly staff. Well worth downloading the app although there are good explanations of the rooms around the house and a good introductory movie. I've never found the museum that busy but going on Thursday I had the place almost to myself. Highly recommended.
