Next to, or part of Russia Dock Park, the Ecological Park has paths to explore, and the Stave Hill part gives wonderful views across the skyscrapers of London At the top of the hill is a bronze work, showing the docks as they were in 1899. Very pleasant place, especially on a warm afternoon like today

Stave Hill is probably one of the most amazing view points in Rotherhithe, yet is only known by locals. Just a few stairs and you will raise above all trees within the surrounding area, with 360 views to all London, highlighting City of London and Canary Wharf.

I have many memories of visiting Stave Hill especially with my dearly departed Yorkshire terrier Ben. Bless him. <3 Stave Hill is a nice place to visit especially during the summer months when the sun is shinning and there are clear blue skies. A great place for photography where you can take photos of the sky scrappers in the distance. A good place to exercise too for running up and down the stairs if that's your thing! :) I never get sick of the views whenever I visit this place. :) Be sure to check it out too! :)

Great little hidden gem! You have amazing views from the top of the hill: Shard, Gherkin, Canary Wharf etc. There is a place where you can have picnic which is great. Fantastic walk through the ecological park. It changes from walks around the dock. I highly recommend!

Odd man made hill just south of the Thames in Rotherhithe. It’s an easy climb up stone steps and there are terrific views from the top across to the ever expanding number of skyscrapers in Docklands and back to the cluster of skyscrapers in the City. Apart from St George’s Wharf you can see every tall building in Lindon from here. There’s a lovely little ecological park at the foot of the hill.

Great little area which is attached to the ecological park. It has great views from Canary Wharf as well as back to The City. Sometimes people using the stairs to exercise can overtake things. It’s great to sit up on top of the hill on a lovely summer’s day.

It's a great oasis in the concrete jungle. You climb up the 30 stairs...or run up the side of you're in a workout mood...and you're rewarded with 360 degree views of London, primarily Canary Wharf and the City. It can get crowded in a nice, sunny day, but totally worth the stop. Highly recommend

Would recommend to anyone who loves a good view or even a good walk I managed to walk alot around this place it's massive! And it's so cool how it is right next to the Thames and litreally next to the centre of London! Very unexpected but cool piece of London!

Well maintained woodland area near Surrey Quays. Perfect place to go for a walk. Quite a few different trails and areas to explore as well as a cool viewing platform and a small lake.

A quiet and surprisingly well-kept bit of wood with a scenic view over part of London. I quite enjoyed walking here with my kids as we viewed birds, spring blossoms, and half-slumbering toads. It was a nice retreat as the pandemic began, and a reminder of another world outside of busy city-life.

This is a lovely example of an urban ecology park providing a home for a wide range of flora and fauna. It's thoughtfully constructed with a range of habitats so creating an urban oasis where wildlife can flourish. Hopefully by 2025 Oxford St will be converted to an urban ecology park and Niketown will be levelled and replacement with a pond.

Lovely park, partially wild. Great place to exercise and test your stamina on the 60 steps to the top of Stave Hill. Great view of Canary Wharf and city landmarks.

Great park near the Thames. Fantastic view from the top of the hill. You can see the shard, Canary Wharf, the gherkin building. Nice walk through the ecological park. There is a open area that you can have picnic and a few things like climbing frames, swings that the children can play. There is free parking nearby. We had a nice time here.

The best ecological park you’ll ever find. Potentially the only one. The huge volunteer army that runs this place is quirky AF and keen to prove it. Expect to get lost, and love every minute of this eccentric Frankenstein nature labyrinth. Go at night for extra spooks. No lighting and generally empty. If you run into someone you’ll get the fright of your life and scream like a girl. At least that’s my experience.

If you're in the area, Stave Hill is a great spot to get good sunset views over the London city centre and lovely hues looking eastward towards Canary Wharf. Also take a walk through the lovely natural eco park paths, woods and meadows.

In the centre of the park is an iron 3D map that shows all the quays and the area in general, many years ago. Been here with mi parents ever since I was a kid, great hidden gem this side of the river! It feels like the countryside especially in the summer, theres tons of flora, fauna, paths to get lost in, banging views of the city centre & Canary wharf and secret fruit trees you can snack from :))

Hidden little gem of a park in the docklands. Great sight lines to various parts of London from this promontory. Hidden little paths in/out to get here. What a treasure! 🤛🏽💗

Great 360 view from the top of the hill. The park is lovely with nature reserves. A little oasis in the middle of Rotherhithe. Popular with joggers and dog walkers. Local fitness classes here as well.

I love this local park so much! Well-kept, still a bit "wild" so I feel like I'm in the country when I visit.

  • 5/5 Thomas H. 11 months ago on Google
This location is connected to a very diverse set of path (unpaved) and paved trails that extend for nearly a mile. With the loops and return leg, you easily can log over 2.5 miles of walking/running in the adjacent Russia Docks Woodland area. There are so many small ponds with water fowl and species of trees/plants, you cant help but forget that you are in the city.

Stave Hill and the surrounding ecological park is a fantastic place to get a 360 view of SE London and beyond or to train using the gradient of the hill or the stunning nooks and crannies of the park. My clients look forward to our PT and Yoga sessions here. It's fantastic to meditate at sunrise or sunset or even to watch the space station fly-overs!
