I am posting this on 27th Sept….. my son had SDR surgery at The Portland on 14th May. We had the most horrendous experience in the run up to surgery, even down to the pre op assessment. We waited 1.5 hours in reception without anybody noticing that we had been forgotten, when I mentioned it to the staff, they were rude and dismissive. I asked the nurse to hide the needles and blood bottles (as most would for an 8 year old having a blood test) She made no effort to comfort him, distract him, make him feel safe. Whilst the needle was in, she shouted ‘I need another bottle please’ at which point my son fainted and then vomited. Both practitioners watched and let me clear it up whilst my son cried and clung to me. I am a registered staff nurse myself. Never, have I experienced such lack of communication between teams, no initiative, no empathy. I was calling the billing team for 3 weeks prior to his surgery to pay. Nobody was able to give me a figure, and constant promises of calls back never happened. I was assured that because it wasn’t our fault, that surgery would still happen on the 14th May, and not to worry and this would be settled whilst he was in hospital recovering. Then, arriving early morning ready for admission, I was approached by a lady whom proceeded to tell me that we would not be able to go ahead due to monies outstanding. I explained the situation, and she was so rude, dismissive, and would not even make eye contact with us. My son was clearly distressed, and security were told to ‘not let us in the lift’ Eventually, we decided to just make our way to the ward on level 3, which the cashier was not happy about. We were honestly treated like criminals! Unbelievable that this should happen in any hospital, let alone a private one! I could go on with other problems, but to be honest, I find myself frustrated just talking about it! My son has been seeing a play therapist, and has been diagnosed with PTSD from his time at the Portland hospital and the lack of care and communication are mainly to blame. Since we got home, I have called site managers, governance admin etc etc, and I am always promised a call back by the end of the week to discuss the official complaint that I logged during our stay. Still no calls back, still no answers……. I almost find it hard to believe that they are still not bothering to contact me?! So, from a registered Nurse that has worked and managed medical wards, specialised, and also have my own private aesthetic and dermatology clinic- I STRONGLY advise any parents with children to stay away from the Portland. Quite frankly, you will be cared for better at your local NHS hospital!

The expert care and compassion I experienced from the gynaecology ward was outstanding. Reception was great, my room was spotlessly clean, the nurses were absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much, hugely grateful for the opportunity to be cared for in such an exceptional hospital. Highly recommend.

I went to the hospital to visit Dr Julie Price in February. I got charged over £700 for her talking to me 2x 8 min. She didn't touch me, she didn't examine me, she just sat behind her desk talking but saying nothing. Be very careful when you go private. Paying almost £1000 and not even being examined truly hurts.

As an addendum to the post below - the Portland has failed to respond to my complaint in the time frame they set for a response. I have chased multiple times and have got nowhere. The Portland is a well respected private hospital, so how can customer care be so far down their list of priorities? Someone has had the time to censor me, PLEASE RESPOND TO MY COMPLAINT. A negative review a family member left a couple of days ago regarding an appalling experience with Dr Sushil Beri has been removed - I have no idea why as everything stated was entirely factual. I can only presume that the Dr or the hospital had it removed for self-preservation purposes. If so, it’s impressive that they found the time to do this as I’m still waiting for a response.

I’m not one for leaving reviews, but I feel I have to in this instance. We had our baby at this hospital after viewing most private hospitals and bought into the brand. We found out the hard way that this hospital is the total opposite of what we thought. I can’t say much more as my wife doesn’t want me to, but I will say there was major negligence from the hospital and please rethink putting your life and baby’s life in their hands.

The main front desk (on 212 great portland St.) admin is simply unfriendly and rude. Visited twice and was not helpful at all for the both visit.... The secretary of my doctor was very unfriendly and don’t have any respect to a patient. Rude when I asked questions. The worst experience I've ever had in a private hospital. The worst administration I've seen in my life…. However, Excellent/amazing consultants, nurses, porter and food in a room! Over all....Very disappointed and had an unpleasant/stressful experience to communicate with the administration staffs.

The worst care I have ever experienced. They did not check or do any observation on my newborn son for over 2,5 hours after he was born, as they were short of midwives and busy. My son was oxygen deprived and struggling to breath. Only when I told them did they notice his arms were blue and he was rushed to NICU. I have made 4 formal complaints and 7 months later I have not received a response, an invoice or my refund. The lack of professionalism, care or consideration for a mother and newborn baby has been absolutely disgusting. I am still struggling with PTSD and sever anxiety that my son has been effected for life. That he could quite possibly have a disability and brain damage due to the negligence we experienced. I hope this helps any mother that is thinking of delivering here. It is the biggest regret of my life choosing this hospital and I hope you don't make the same mistake.

I visited hospital in at the beginning of December 2018. After 2 days Portland Hospital took money from my account without letting me know the amount and without sending the invoice - no information at all. Money was just gone. Is this respectful, fair and in line with business etiquette? NO However, I received invoice few days later with request for the invoice to be paid to HCA. I paid, not knowing they already took money from my account. I found that out the same day I made the payment. if you read carefully, I have been asked to pay to HCA, but money has been taken from my account by Portland Hospital. Is that ok? NO. I sent numerous e-mails to HCA customer care and financial department and just received automatic reply. I rang phone numbers from web site numerous times and after hours of waiting and listening to their perfect marketing speeches, I managed to talk to a lady called Leionnie B. Sometime in January after (again) numerous e-mails I received confirmation that the "refund paperwork was raised 11/01/19". One month is gone and no sign of money of anything from HCA / Portland Hospital. NO. If it was Amazon, Argos or any high street store, I would have received refund long time ago. It is disgrace and misleading to patients that this is one of the best hospitals in London/UK/word... NO. They are just after your hard earned money and they do not care at all!

The most terrible experience giving birth at the Portland - consultant led induced delivery. The midwives and everything leading up to it was great but on checking in for delivery it all went downhill. I was under the care of two very dismissive and impersonal midwives (one who unfortunately “helped” deliver our baby). The rooms they show you in the picture are the good ones, I was put in a tiny cramped room with no windows until I pleaded with them to change it when one became available - this one then didn’t have adequate lighting or equipment with even the consultant complaining. After a long birth our baby was in distress and admitted to the NICU, no one checked on us or offered any support even though they said a counsellor would come and see us - in fact they left me completely alone and scared in the delivery room after my husband and baby went to the NICU, traumatising! They didn’t try to encourage any bonding between us and the baby with the midwife getting annoyed that I wanted to breastfeed when it was possible as it apparently was easier for her to feed my baby. After our nightmare delivery in the early morning we were woken up by calls from the front desk telling my husband to go and settle the NICU bill (even after paying the whole delivery sum and 2 nights stay and us still being in the hospital). Not once was any emotional support offered and after our 4 nights there we were discharged with a wrong report of the delivery and no explanation of what happened to our baby - until a midwife highlighted this and launched an investigation! Please avoid this place at all costs - I’m sure the NHS has much better facilities level of care and competent staff. The most traumatic, horrible experience nothing like the 5 star hospital you see in their marketing!

Every time I have taken my son for treatment here, I have had a stressful experience. On one occasion he was admitted for 3 days, it was more like a four star hotel with nurses, no doctors. We waited for a day for the respiratory specialist, who never turned up. They made my son who was unwell, get dressed and walk across the road in order see the physiotherapist to take his peek flow. Surely she could have come to him. They wanted him to stay another night to the respiratory specialist who was not available for another week, so they would have charging us per night stays to wait for the respiratory specialist who does not work for the hospital directly. I find the accounting stuff to be difficult. Instead of sending all invoices to my insurance as we are covered 100% they kept sending it to me even though they had authorisation. As it is not the first time to have a bad experience here at this hospital, who only appear to care about money while providing a low quality of care. I hope to never use them again. I agree they do think we are all idiot foreigners with money.

INEFFICIENT, WASTE OF TIME. Had an absolutely horrible experience today. Whoever registered me for an appointment forgot to put the doctor’s name in the confirmation email. So I was running for 25 min between three buildings before my appointment to figure out where it is. They also don’t put you in the system if it’s your first visit so nobody could help me until I found the number of the receptionist that last called me and asked where to go. Doctor Nnady himself was great. But to get to him I had to wait for another 20 min which was already 40 min past my appointment time. Immediately after I was directed to do an X-ray and told I’d need to wait another 30min for when the person comes back from lunch. When they came back, people who were in line after me got first. Eventually I asked when I’ll be seen. Turns out, they left my paper at the reception so I was just skipped. I was then told to change into X-ray clothing and wait a little more. Finally, they made another mistake and apparently my type of x-ray could only be done in another building so I was asked to change back to my clothes and go elsewhere. I was so done with such waste of my time so I left. Don’t want to come back there again.

The worst hospital ever! This was 6 miles away from our house and costed £50 in travel fees! Get there at 6.30 in the morning only to find out our appointment had been cancelled the day before the surgery! We got the date and time of surgery two months before and they said to make sure we were prepared! They were lucky that it was 6.30 in the morning and I was sleepy that I didn't punch the receptionist and nurse in the face. WHO CANCALS THE DAY BEFORE A SURGERY! This is outrageous! Now call after cal they don't know when it is rescheduled for and said it could take another 2 months.Don't recommend

Absolutely excellent service after a large scale surgery. All the nurses were incredibly kind & helpful. The rooms are private with Murphy beds if you'd like a relative to stay overnight with you. The physiotherapists were fantastic. And the food is truly excellent. The entire environment & staff truly helped with my healing process. Thank you all.

If there are minus star rates, I will give it minus 5 . This hospital is chaos , not organised at all, what they do focus on is how to rip off you. *When I see a midwife, they put another person in room, say she's intern and will take a note. Here you go, later they will charge you as two visit. * Despite you already in third trimester, they kept telling me do again and again diabetes test; once the number reached slightly higher , then they say base on hospital rule , I have to update my package because I am now have diabetes , which cataloged in high risk pregnancy, so I have no choice but move from midwife package to doctor package which is almost doubled out-come bill. * When they insist me do one more time again on diabetes test, I asked doctor, what if I have then , she said she will give me some medical advice next time; then next time I see her , she just told me , my test result shows I have diabetes, you have to see another specific doctor ,I will make appointment for you. Just like this, talked not even 5 Minutes, she charge me 350 pounds for that visit. * After I discharged from hospital two months, I still didn't get back my deposit, I walk in hospital talk to them, they want me wait another week, I waited and ringed again, they want me wait another 3 weeks, later I wrote several emails to confirm , they ignored most of my emails. so so rude. * When I asked doctor's deliver fee, he said 4K, but later from insurance notice letter , I can see he billed 5K. Rip off all the time.

I have a visual disability and I needed help with ordering a taxi, carrying my bags and identifying the taxi outside. A member of the staff on the Ground Floor, Agustin, was amazing helping me with absolutely everything — whilst my daughter was feeling poorly and I was comforting her. He was EXCELLENT and we were very lucky to find him. Thank you Agustin and thank you Great Portland Hospital!

Saw orthopedic sergeant Dr Norman Taylor at Portland consulting rooms with my daughter who broke her wrist. He was an hour late for the appointment and when I had to leave and asked one of the nurses to ask him to call me as soon as he’s done with the previous patient and I’d have a phone consultation with him as I had to leave, he only called me after he saw the last patient on that day - so a couple of hours later. But the worst thing is the way he put the cast on my daughters wrist - it’s been a week and both her elbow and wrist are covered in blisters because the cast edges are constantly hurting her skin, it’s done extremely unprofessionally and has to be taken off now and done properly by someone who can do the job - it’s only a simple cast on the wrist. Will definitely not see him again and would definitely not recommend him to anyone.

We had our baby here in April, and had a great experience. Everything was perfect, and the induced delivery went exactly to plan. The facilities were great (nice, clean), the midwives were friendly and knowledgable, our consultant was amazing and exceeded expectations, the food was good, and they gave us a nice gift at the end. They also had a section in the maternity notes for us to indicate what we wanted for our Birth Plan (lights on or off, music, use of Hypnobirthing terms like “surge” or not, etc). I hadn’t seen that before and was pleasantly surprised by it! The midwife reviewed it with us to ensure we had the experience we wanted, and it worked well. It is expensive, which I think is expected, but it actually cost slightly less than we budgeted, but I suspect that’s because we had a great consultant who gave us an accurate cost estimate up front. Also, was relieved they would let my husband join for the whole time, despite the Covid pandemic and other hospitals restricting when and for how long partners could join. Would absolutely recommend this maternity hospital.

Excelent experience. Every single person was kind, helpful, empathetic. My son did not realize what was going on, he just enjoyed every minute of being there. He loved having his food and the nice plasters. The nurse (Nunzia), the anaesthetic team and the doctor were also very supportive to parents. I would highly recommend this hospital.

Thank you to Augustine, the Portland security staff member, who was on duty on Sat, April 23. He kindly allowed me to park in the hospital lobby while I collected my two daughters being discharged. He was friendly, accomodating and gave us a warm send off on our way out.

Very sneaky of Portland Hospital to include a "free" photography session in the package to only make you pay for the images if you want more than one image. Portland Hospital is a con with unscrupulous money making techniques. Same will apply to your care and the whole experience.

They are so organized! And the entire experience was amazing, they made me very relaxed and I was no longer scared of having my procedure. All the nurses are great especially Diana and Aika....They are amazing and genuinely care. I was well cared for during my stay And the food is amazing. The hospital is very beautiful as well. And I had all I needed. I am very pleased with the overall experience and will surely recommend to my family and friends

Surprisingly negative experience with this hospital. We were going to see a children's doctor. They offered us an initial online consultation in two weeks time just to "chat about my child's medical history" (he is 2 years old so not much to chat about for £260!) with a follow-up face to face consultation in one month time either in Reading or in Oxford. I certainly can get quicker service through NHS and not sure what those locations have to do with the Portland Hospital...

We had our baby earlier this year at the Portland and it was a great experience. We were well looked after and given all the support and aftercare we needed. My wife recovered very well from C-Section and was able to comfortably walk out of the hospital with no support after our few nights stay. The only downside that left a bitter aftertaste is the gift voucher for a photoshoot. The company running them (ImageThirst) have scandalously high prices (£1100+ for a photo album) and you'd be far better served finding another option for this. Prices are communicated only after the complimentary photoshoot so you just get a feeling of your precious newborn images being held at ransom.

The recepsionists are very imprifessional, lack of empathy and collaboration with the patient's family,! They misled me and lied at me to avoid allowing me to visit my nephew. By telling me that the nurse incharge said: that he is already has visitors in his room and that they will give me an exemption only today to visit him. I am aware that the hospital policy do not allow more than two visitors at one the time, however, the boy was alone in his room with no visitors at all..!! In fact, no one visited him yesterday apart of me.! The boy is 15 years old inpatient. He was nearly neglected by the staff.. He was kept in his room for a week waiting for assesment by his doctors! No one cares about him. Until, I have raised the issue yesterday.. Then, I received a call from his doctor saying: they will assess him today Friday 23rd Dec.2022 at 3pm. after being in patient for seven days. His mood was low,. His blood pressure was low 108/59 -even less in the second reading- because he was asleep all day and no one of the nurses cares to check on him. He missed two meals breakfast and lunch, I woke him up when I visited him. He yestetday had one meal the dinner only. Then, what is the point of admitting him at the hospital when he won't be taking care of??!! By the way, this is not the first case of neglegence at this hospital. I was told same thing by one of the mothers. The common factor between my nephew and her daughter is that they are overseas patients..!!!! Their governments psy for their admition at the hospital..

Healthcare was excellent. However, despite calls and emails, I am still waiting 5 months for the credit refund needed to be returned from my advanced payment to HCA. HCA customer services and cashiers team should be returning any credit a lot sooner. Do HCA hope I will forget my credit and they can keep my money?! I hope this is a one off and HCA do not hold onto other customers money for this length of time?

For how much they charge and in comparison to other private hospitals not recommending AT ALL. We spent thousands of pounds for first delivery and I was so disappointed in the midwife who was supervising my delivery. She was so rude and indifferent. I wasn’t even in labor as I delivered via C-section, so a hassle free patient too. I had to ask for help so many times before someone would respond during the night. They would forget to input data in my booklet at routine check ups. I had to ask a couple of times. They didn’t check for gestational diabetes like all other hospitals. My room was so small I couldn't open my bags properly, had to use my bed. They’d over charged me and if I hadn’t checked closely I would have paid extra. In general a very disappointing experience.

Pleasantly surprised with the high standards of this hospital. Knowledgeable consultants and very professional nursing staff. One feels well looked after at all times. Rooms are comfortable and private. You have your own bathroom, TV, fridge, desk, high chairs and... room service with In room dining menu. Five stars!

Didn't get appropriate price presentation of additional x-ray suggested by the doctor just an email previously by the doctors secretary the consultation fee £250 and additionalx-ray around £200. We paid the doctor on the end of our chat £250. No body gave us info how much to pay for the x-ray on the day and couldn't pay anywhere after our appointment. Like being part of a scam where you get hooked in but you don't even know what's coming. We only been told by both building receptions that they cannot tell us anything but we will receive the invoice which we did 2 days later and it was a very shocking surprise of £461 instead of £200. After contacting they complain department turned out the invoice was wrong and the right amount is only £430. Had to ask for the correct invoice to be sent multiple times which I only received via email not on the post as the original one. After paying the £430 they also deducted the wrong amount of £461 from my account without permission. Now I have to run after my money and wait it to be refunded by the hospital.

If I could give no stars I would . My 8 year old had broken his arm in San Francisco and as we had already vacation plans to go to London then Spain , we arranged to have the pins removed at this hospital .we travelled to Spain the day after the pins were removed. 3 days later my son developed a fever, was hospitalized in Spain for 1 week with septic Arthritis ,MRSA and surgery . You need to use sterile procedures people . Our bill was 10000 euro .

Worst Pharmacy Ever!! After 2 months of regular prescriptions - they have been wrong almost every time; incorrect doses (told to make do); over charged; trying to over sell parts of the prescription not needed in advance; refunds take 5-10 working days after they make mistakes. My wife was made to feel like it was her fault. Go somewhere else if you want your sanity and to be treated well!

Excellent care received from the moment I arrived to when I checked out. I had a hysterectomy which required 2 nights stay. All the team from the nurses, consultant, anaesthetist, cleaners and people that delivered my meals were extremely attentive and friendly. Couldn't have asked for better care. The facilities were also perfect - clean and easy to use. Highly recommend.

What an incredible experience. My son & family were looked after from start to finish. Professor Peter Cuckow is an amazing surgeon. Naz the urologist nurse is a beautiful soul. When having my son’s stitches removed she made us feel comfortable and is exceptionally good with children. I would recommend both.

I am working with NHS hospital generally as a catering staff. Today I went Portland hospital for a part time job in a kitchen. The head chef abused me verbally and physically insanely. They don’t have any respect and manners. I already raised a complaint against him. HCA management should take action against him.

My daughter has her MCK nephrectomy procedure here today. The staff are polite and helpful, her doctor is brilliant as always. However, I am surprised at the hospital's refusal to provide an appropriate chair in the room which I could use to work from in the coming days. They have provided a suitable desk in the room and a sofa chair so find it frustrating to be refused this. I am having to work in the first place due to my wife taking care of the little one at home and not being able to take time off. Was hoping they would have been more empathetic.

Absurd charges all over. After having visited Dr Tomas Rosenbaum, been charged 2x the price of ultrasound scan despite no one ever telling us there'd be two scans. On top, he charged £140 for a "follow up consultation" which was an unsolicited call where he said nothing he hasn't already told us before. He then repeatedly ignores requests to provide any reasonable explanation - and on top of it, does not respond to requests of getting copies of our own scan results. The Hospital itself also could not have been less helpful in getting any of these issues resolved. Avoid at all cost, especially avoid Dr Tomas Rosenbaum.

We had the misfortune of having our 2 year old being admitted for dental care at this hospital. Unfortunately, this hospital lacks any meaningful culture of kindness and care. Technically they were fine but the pre and post-operative care was appalling. They are hiding behind the veil of covid, despite PCR tests before arrival, don't expect any warmth or compassion.

This hospital used to be nicer and more efficient. The facilities used to be so good for a private hospital. I was given a room with a shared bathroom in the corridor. :-(. Not happy with that. The procedure was booked at the end of the day which is not ideal and even worse when is delayed. Which meant I arrived at the hospital at 4:00 and left at 10:00pm for something they could have done during the day. Walking with my son during a freezing night to get our transport after having anesthesia at 10pm wasn’t fun. Also I needed water and I had to call the caterer twice after 40 minutes to ask where it was. Disappointed

I had a day Care operation at this hospital. The hygiene, the care, the awaking room, the nurses( only the ones assigned to me) were fantastic. The only downsides are that it does not have any dedicated parking place so as a patient carer you have to take the risk and try to find some street parking closeby. There are also one main building and 2 others. It is time consuming each time you visit you find out this time you have to report to another building and fill in forms go through cvd checks at the reception. So all in all, my experience with this hospital after you get to be seen or check in to the hospital is great.

I had my daughter at The Portland in 2022 and could not have wished for a better birthing experience. Everything was so organised, smooth and calm. The aftercare after my C-section was amazing, I felt cared for 24/7 and felt respected when in a vulnerable state. All the dr’s and nurses were so nice to me. My midwife Leanna who was with me all day and in the theatre for the surgery was amazing, then when the staff changed every single midwife, doctor and nurse were all great. I had to be checked out a few days before I gave birth, within about 20 minutes of my Dr arranging for me to come in, there was a room ready for me and I was immediately seen by a midwife, then a doctor and had all necessary checks. My husband never had to leave my side for the 3 nights I was there as there was a comfortable bed for him in my room. I would recommend The Portland 100% and am so thankful for my great experience!

Rea sends her best wishes and great thanks to all her "friends and fans", including Mariam (nurse) wake-up nurse, Sansiggi & Radi (porters), Claire and Claire's colleague (play specialist), Tim (consultant), the anaesthetist, the catering and cleaning team as well as to the reception staff and everyone else I missed/ forgot the name. It was "the best experience of [her] life" apparently. How wonderfully everyone looked after us, thank you all very much!!

I recently visited Great Portland Hospital and unfortunately, I was disappointed with the reception staff. As a children's hospital, I expected the staff to be friendly and welcoming towards kids, but that was not the case. The receptionist seemed more interested in watching movies than assisting us and was quite rude when we tried to speak with her. However, the doctor we saw was good and provided us with the necessary care. Overall, while the medical care was satisfactory, the poor attitude of the reception staff left a negative impression on our experience at the hospital.

We had our baby delivered via c-section at Portland Hospital (insurance). The standard of care and assistance and facilities were exceptional. Every single member of staff were great, particularly midwives and team in the nursery. So many unsung heroes. We were there for three nights and I’m not sure we would have managed without them. First class, forever grateful (team on 1st floor of maternity wing).

Waiting one hour for a doctor's appointment. No one knows anything or will inform you of anything. They'll just make you wait.

We were very well taken care of during our visit to The Portland Hospital. Everyone we dealt with was extremely considerate and professional. Our thanks to the team we dealt with who went above and beyond to make our son comfortable ahead of and after his successful procedure.

We recently had 3 appointments with my daughter over 2 days with a few different people in the imaging department... can honestly say every staff member that we dealt with were fabulous. My daughter has SEN and they were all absolutely amazing - the guys that did the MRI, anaesthetist, nurses, play therapist, physio therapist and Matthew Pitt who did the EMG. Just brilliant

Service was lovely in general. But they gave my son calpol painrelief to take home of 6+years, even though he is only 4years old.completly dangerous and irresponsible behaviors. Luckily i read the leaflet of he medicine as it clearly states on the leaflet DO NOT GIVE TO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 6.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and put me at ease before my procedure. After my procedure I was able to order some food and thought the quality was really good compared to typical hospital food. I used private medical insurance so I cannot comment on the cost.

Extremely terrible service. Was on the phone for 20 minutes while the operator said I was first in the queue. After being connected I was then passed from one department to another for 11 minutes which ended up in circles until the last person hung up on me while I was explaining my bad experience all to ask about hospital fees. Impossible to get through.

Uninterested doctor was texting on WhatsApp for the entire consultation. Left my girlfriend feeling vulnerable and with an incorrect diagnosis. Had to go to the NHS afterwards anyway!! Showed a complete lack of empathy when she voiced her concerns afterwards. Avoid.

I cannot fault the care my daughter received. An anxious 15 year old - I was very concerned about her having a procedure/ general anaesthetic. She was treated with such care and compassion,. She didn’t panic and found the whole experience a positive one and that is down to the expert care she received. Her nurse, Pip, was amazing with her- calm, friendly and put her at ease immediately. Cara, a play specialist showed her photos of what to expect such as the anaesthetic room and the recovery room- she found this reassuring. Her visit from the anaesthetist answered her concerns, Dr Phil Cunnington was delightful - lovely fun manner - she warmed to him immediately. After the procedure, dr Thomson came to chat with me and discuss how it went, again very reassuring. The room/ toilets were spotless , the food was excellent - all staff were professional and friendly. I am so grateful that her first hospital experience has been such a positive one. On discharge she was given a lovely Portland teddy which she immediately named Pip after her nurse - that speaks volumes! Thank you to everyone that contributed to her care.

Excellent experience having a private consultant appointment for my son. It was so easy to find a consultant in the relevant department, and from booking to seeing him was only 5 days. Both my son and I were well treated from start to finish, and the facilities were very clean.

Our son had his tonsils and adenoids removed at The Portland Hospital. We cannot fault the care he received. Thank you to Mr Hartley, Phil the anaesthetist, Maddie from the Play Team and the lovely Karen his nurse for the day. Thank you for making our son feel at ease during his time with you.

I would like to record all my gratitude to the pediatric team at Portland Hospital. My daughter underwent surgery and we were well taken care of. I want to give my special thanks to nurses Charity, Roberta and Priya, they were attentive and very affectionate with me and my daughter. Hospital food was surprisingly wonderful. Thank you to the whole team.

Totally unhappy with the experience at Portland. No clear pricing on packages and the extra charges. Lots of hidden extra charges. The consultant led delivery package lists 6-week check for mother as included, afterwards only to charge for the post-natal check 240 GBP. Avoid at all costs.

Purely commenting on the pre admission admin. Hours of it, really inefficient, and the phone doesn’t get answered for over an hour with a message telling you from the start that you are “currently first in the queue”!

The doctor is good. However I feel there is lack of management of the whole process. We were told to wait for the blood test and my son was given some numbing cream. We would need to await 45 minutes (from 12:35 pm to 1:20 pm). But upon 1:20 pm, no one seemed to give us any guidance the subsequent steps. I had to ask the reception how long it would take to wait (twice)- but there is no clear indication only asking us to wait. We eventually got the blood taken but that is around 2 pm. I almost missed my following meeting. Very disappointing experience.

Our little one had a day procedure there and I couldn't have been more grateful for their teams. They had a lovely person who came in and showed us on a doll what would happen and then let them choose some toys which they brought itT,n which really helpedshelped putwput our toddlerk at ease. After the procedure we did a burger off the day catering menu, bc we couldn't find takeaway close, and it was far better than many pubs in the UK. I went there for my daughter’s tongue tie procedure. The staff were very welcoming and I felt completely comfortable as we were in safe and caring hands. When I was waiting for the minor op of my daughter, a midwife specialised in breastfeeding called Pia accompanied me and helped me, answering all my questions and giving me some guidance for next steps. I’m really happy that we decided to go there as the result couldn’t have been better!

My son was injured in the bacterium in the operation as a result of an accident. Then I had seven operations to remove the bacteria. Then I traveled to this hospital. Thank God with Dr. Bell. The bacteria were controlled within a week without operations. Although I did not sit with the doctor long, he only asked me after the examination. I told him the bacteria in the wound process and said only this I said yes he said Atman will improve and we thank God improved boy

Bad organisation left to organise everything and when you’re there no ones even aware of what treatment you’re getting and this is the 5th time I’m here and I’ve spent over £60,000 here and it’s getting worse and worse they need to step it up immensely

Came in for a covid test the other day and they have lost my result. 99.9% sure I haven’t got it but still not as if they have to process tens of thousands a day I was like the only person who tested myself the entire day.

Today I went with my little girl to the hospital in Portland and I would like to thank Daniele Pellegrino who was very kind and gave my daughter stickers after the medical check up. The hospital is located in the centre of London, easy to reach!

Mind you if you sign at the wrong box at the check in process one particular receptionist called “Rachida” doesn’t shy back in calling you rude not once but a couple of times before continuing with the admission process. Really sad because when she got approached by her Supervisors she denied all wrong doing! However the nurses at The Portland hospital are very kind but this kindness did not make it to the ground floor where you get your first impression from this establishment.

To all the Nurse's on the children's unit you went above and beyond, you all do a fantastic job. I could not fault a single thing with the care they gave my daughter (and also me). Highly recommend. Any nervous parent/child will be put as ease, with the care from each & EVERY member of staff. The amount of times they check on my daughter throughout our stay was incredible. Explaining every little detail to us. I want to say a big thank you to my daughter's Nurse Pip, you made everything so calm and reassuring for her and I'm most grateful to you. Thank you so much.

Excellent service throughout with regular midwife appointments and always at hand to discuss issues/concerns on the phone; this became particularly important as we approached the birth being first time parents; always had someone to talk to; when we came into the hospital after contractions the room was ready and we were shown straight through and saw a midwife to confirm stage of birth; a midwife was in attendance the whole time during birth; great support and care; thanks!

Thank you to everyone at The Portland. Our son was so well looked after when he was in for an operation. Everyone was excellent. Stuart, our son's nurse, was so excellent, putting him and us at ease at every stage of the process. The food our son was given after the operation was excellent and the kitchen catered for his coeliac gluten free requirements perfectly. Thank you all so much.

My son suffered an arm injury while we were on holiday in Regent's Park and we visited this location for assistance. The staff was very friendly and attentive, they did a great job of making sure my son was comfortable. We received x-ray imaging, fees were reasonable. The three-star review is mainly based on the fact that we were given follow-up instructions that actually did not comply with the facility's practices (we were told that we would be given xrays via email for a follow up, but that's not possible).

It is a shame to read the negative reviews below - especially as most of them are to do with billing issues rather then the care they received from the hospital which surely is what it should be being measured by? I had my second baby here by c-section in Feb 2021 during lockdown. It genuinely was a wonderful experience, which I look back on with very fond memories. The midwives were so kind and helpful, particularly Cat who worked the evening shifts. I felt extremely well cared for by the excellent obstetrician Dr Patrick O’Brien and the Portland team. The procedure went very smoothly and the aftercare I received during the following 2 days I was at the hospital was excellent. I was seen by every possible dr/specialist you could imagine as part of the package. The rooms, whilst not luxurious, were very comfortable (I believe they have just opened the new renovated maternity suite) and having the option to order food for yourself and partner from an extensive menu is a treat. It does feel a bit like a hotel rather then a clinical hospital set up. The packages aren’t cheap, but if it is something you are considering, I would highly recommend. I had no complications following the section (unlike my first natural birth via NHS) and baby is doing very well.

Absolutely terrible experience - my consultant did not call me at all at my appointment time, just to have her secretary call me 2 hours later after numerous emails chasing, that they did not receive my diagnostic report so couldn't proceed with my appointment. My diagnostics were done 2 weeks ago! This clinic is really doing nothing but delaying my treatment. I requested to have my reports sent directly to me and received no response - AVOID AVOID AVOID - no one needs this amount of stress considering we are paying hundreds of pounds for a single appointment...!
