I have been to this hospital to visit a friend of mine who was admitted there for couple of days. During my visit I discovered that this hospital is truly exceptional! From the moment I entered the doors to the reception, I felt welcomed, and completely at ease. I meet the doctor who is in charge and looking after my friend and he has gone above and beyond to be sure that he answered my questions about my friend situation. He assured me that my friendโ€™s health and wellness have been made first priority. All physicians we dealt with were extremely knowledgable and personable. We never were made to wait. And if ever we needed to contact them they were super speedy in responding my inquiries. I wanted to thank all the staff members they were friendly and helpful in every way. The wait times are relatively short. Truly this hospital will be looked after you by such a great team.

I had a heart attack, the doctors at this hospital saved my life. I was treated with kindness and care every step of the way. I am eternally grateful for the work that people at Barts Health do.

The MRI cardiology area clearly has issues. People in reception were nice and friendly. However, took mother into theatre to have MRI, first person giving injection couldn't find a pulse had to do it twice, and hurt her, but didn't seem to care. He was more concerned telling everyone he was leaving and moving to the Wittington and telling everyone else he was going to have his leaving do at Nando's... Waiting area after this and staff were all nice. However, again, once having the MRI, two persons were there. A female who was nice, another male however was arrogant. Didn't seem to care. Huffed constantly when he had to do things. Was not professional at all. After MRI, nobody provided any data of the results or feedback. Oh and my mum died that evening after leaving - heart failure...

Unfortunately I just cannot share any positive feedback about St Bart's Hospital. This is by far the worst place I've been treated at. Extremely disorganised and unprofessional. The waiting times are criminal - they stole 7 precious months from me, when I could have been treated, instead of that I was places on a waiting list due to a mistake they made. 7 months!!! They are unfortunately understaffed and the patient's experience is neglected to the lowest possible point. One has to chase for updates and appointments all the time. They simply just don't answer the phone or respond to emails. A very small example, which I can share is that they asked me to do examinations, some of which quite invasive, then never bothered to check past records and called me to asked me to do the exact same examination, not realising that I have already done that months ago. This happened on multiple occasions. When one trusts a hospital with their health, you expect them to at least take one's case seriously and do their due diligence, spending a few minutes reviewing your case before contacting you. I had experienced one doctor that spoke to me in such disrespectful way, mocking my questions and discussing my condition with an apprentice in front of me, without any sign of empathy that I am there. I will never forget how this person made me feel during one of my most vulnerable moments. Ahead of a procedure I was placed to wait in the staff's cloak rooms due to lack of waiting rooms for patients (this is when I'm paying for private treatment). I've been through so much with them in the past two years that I just had enough and switched to a different hospital. I feel sorry for the NHS and I appreciate that the last few years have been challenging, but no patient deserves to be treated this way, ever! I would never recommend St Bart's to anyone. They used to be a respectable hospital, and it's a shame that they are in a different place now.

Sincere Thanks to doctors and nursing staff at the St Barts heart centre for their excellent care and attention. Couple of points: many friends and family couldnโ€™t reach me as switchboard were unable to locate me despite 10 days in hospital. Ward toilets/showers are often dirty as they are not cleaned regularly or throughout the day. Please allocate more to this essential. Thank you.

General Cardiology - People who are unlucky enough to have a mental health diagnosis on their record are subject to unfair discrimination.Your presented heart problem symptoms are subsequently dismissed as a result and not taken seriously. Was scheduled to see a professor, but instead saw a trainee; this was a terrible experience, and despite my request for an echocardiogram to look into the angina and palpitations I've been having, my worries were dismissed. It is obvious that the NHS only intends to offer respectable services to members of a particular race or demographic. Not inclusive for everyone.

Avoid the minor injuries unit. After waiting for almost 3 hours, Diane and Carmen refused to treat my injury and to give me an xray. They insisted that paracetamol is sufficient (which Iโ€™m pretty sure doesnโ€™t heal broken bones..). The more experienced nurse even made me cry and showed no compassion or concern for my mental health. The place also closes at 4pm and they turn off the lights, TV and put down the blinds and make you wait in the darkness for hours.. they were also taking 20 minute breaks after every single patient.. the first nurse (Carmen?) also made me take tablets without telling me what they are or asking if I wanted to take them.. Iโ€™m considering malpractice action against them. The only nice thing about this practice was Susan the receptionist - she was lovely!

Everything was perfect and ICU looked after my father with great care, this was around 6 years ago I think. A lot of follow up from his surgeon too! They even offered me food because I was sitting next to his bed and was very worriedโ€ฆfor hours. I just wasnโ€™t stable enough to eat or drink, but I felt they genuinely care for patients and their family at the ICU and the surgeons too! But the only down bit was, when my father was moved to a different room, the European Nurse didnโ€™t want to assist him, she treated him very badly and in a rude manner! My sister later on came and challenged the nurse who kept on saying my father is โ€œlyingโ€ the other nurses/manager or supervisor was made aware of this. She was being racist according to my father.

I am so pleased with the care the politeness and real empathy the nurses and doctors had when my father was admitted for pacemaker surgery. I want to shout to nurse Cynthia on ward 3A, she is just a beautiful human being.Thank you for being so kind and positive me in my dark hour. Also to Drs that did the whole thing wasting no time. The hospital is clean, quiet and welcoming, well done to all staff and doctors in the cardiology, you are doing a great job every second of the day!! Much respect.

Until 17th March 2020, I had never been to Barts Hospital or for that matter, to any other Hospital as an urgent critical patient. But talk about saving the best till last! I had very good reason on this fateful St Patrick's day ('Paddy's' Day on 17th March 2020), when I was driven blue lighted by an ambulance (again a first for me) to St Barthomlew's Hospital. Thank God they did take me to Barts hospital!!! The care I received in the middle of what was a Covid-19 pandemic was nothing short of incredible and outstanding! It was a first class top notch care by everyone that I encountered - starting with the paramedics who responded to me at home. The hospital managed to patch me up within 8 days with a bionic present inserted in my chest area, after which I was sent home, from where I steadily recuperated very well. I have nothing great heartfelt thanks and admiration for those that treated me, but also for all our healthcare professionals up and down the country - from the cleaners, healthcare assistants, porters, nurses, doctors, radiologists, phlebotomists, etc, etc. Each and everyone of them was amazing and fantastic!! I consider myself to be very lucky to be here and alive in the first place, writing this review or rather this Thank You note to them. Please let us all indeed, cherish and respect these people who have dedicated and devoted their lives to our care, and let us be supportive of them, especially during the pandemic and always. Wishing all Healthcare Professionals, all the very best. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU, WHEREVER YOU ARE!!! Please continue to show your gratitude and support for those who work in the NHS. LIKE this review, as a recognition to them. I will forever be grateful to them! Thank you for sparing your time to read this!

I have unfortunatley just lost my partner under the care of Mr shamash, after being mislead. We were informed by Mr shamash and his team that my partners cancer was going in the right direction. I can only reach out to anyone who is under Mr shamash's care and say ' ask as may question's and keep asking them until you get an answer that you are Happy with'. I feel devastated and shocked that I have lost this tremendous man. Please share a review if you have been at the hands of the unempathetic Mr shamash

My mum was an outpatient who was bedbound and came to St Barts for an Oncologist appointment. Due being bedbound, she had to be transferred around the Hospital to find a more appropriate place to carry out the appointment. Shows lack of communication between NHS Hospitals. The Doctor was lovely and supportive from the beginning, however there was a power struggle with the Nurses, who were rude and not considerate it all.

Going through my medical procedures for bowel cancer. I was given details to book myself medical check test for Barts hospital RLH. Only I was asked by a female phone staff why I didn't attend a hospital appointment last Sunday because I wasn't notified aware of an hospital appointment. I then got a phone call that didn't allow enough time for me to answer it. I then got two (2) duplicate text messages to say I'll be getting an over the phone consultation regarding my further medical procedures about my bowel cancer check test (s). I take this is the reason why other's go for private health care treatment! Unbelievable! Beyond belief very disappointing to say the least.

My mum had a very bad experience at this hospital. Whilst receiving treatment in the cancer ward, her personal electronic device was stolen by a member of staff. Please be vigilante with your belongings. The trick used by this nurse/cleaner is to say she must have put it in the dirty laundry and conveniently the hospital policy as we found out is not to open closed dirty laundry bags due to contamination. We knew this was a lie, the device is heavy and had headphones attached, my mum left her bed to use the toilet and left the cleaner in her room and when she came back the cleaner and device was gone, there was no way to miss such a heavy device. We reported it to managers and PALS but they were not helpful and said itโ€™s in the laundry according to that nurse/cleaner so we asked to see the damaged device once the laundry was washed but of course never got any evidence. It was so upsetting to know my mum was stuck in a place where someone that is supposed to have empathy and compassion can do something like this, robbing my mum of her main form of entertainment whilst going through gruelling treatment. The member of staff that committed this crime was Eastern European and I found out that there had been reports of this nature previously in the same ward. My poor mum didnโ€™t want to file a police report as she was still in their care and didnโ€™t know the impact it would have on her care as she felt very vulnerable after the incident and wanted to leave as quickly as she could. Doctors were great regarding her actual treatment.

The waiting times and quality of surgeries are CRIMINAL. Still waiting for over 1 year to have a surgery within the ENT department and over 9 months for an appointment for the Colo-Rectal department. The hospital's policy is to not schedule any patients which are not labelled as urgent and to blame their incompetence on Covid. Even though I am not labelled as an urgent patient, it is insulting to be labelled as irrelevant. Even though my conditions are not threatening my life, they are causing me great discomfort, but the hospital's management seems to just don't care. It is also not possible to get directly in contact with the doctor/s that handle my files and surgeries, and every time I had to talk to Admin staff which demonstrate 0 customer service and have no idea about my files/conditions. Also, when trying go contact a department it is very difficult because they don't have the numbers on the website and I have to be bounced around loads of times between the switchboard and various departments. NHS is such a horribly flawed system and it creates more problems than it solves for patients, not sure why I pay such high NI contributions and taxes when the service is appalling. Therefore, I would suggest that management stops hiding their incompetence/inefficiency under the Covid excuse, that they prioritise non-critical patients and allow patients to have direct contact with their doctors. Update: I actually eventually had the surgery (septoplasty) with the ENT department (Dr Santdeep Paun and Dr Freddy Green) and it FAILED. In essence, I was butchered for free by Dr Paun and his staff without any benefit. I was put through significant physical discomfort and mental distress for no benefit at all. The service provided by the ENT department is ATROCIOUS, I can't believe that these people are allowed to practice Medicine, their diplomas should be retracted.

I am still in disbelief at the way we were treated at the breast clinic today. Uncaring, unprofessional and to put it mildly simply rude!! Have never experienced such poor service from the NHS, hopefully my first and last experience of Barts breast clinic!! If I could I would have given 0 stars.

A State of the Art Hospital with staff to match. A close friend attended Ward 3D for an angiogram. The staff were caring, friendly and professional. Although very busy, her every need was attended to. Courteous and efficient, the ward was spotlessly clean and her procedure successful. She was kept up to date throughout the day before her procedure. She was able to speak to a very caring nurse who sat with her for a long time & helped alleviate her anxiety. She was amazing. These staff really deserve a fair pay rise!

Best hospital . Queues are fast. I spent less than a minute when walked without appointment for X ray. And then blood test queue was moving very fast spent 30 min waiting without appointment. This is incredible in comparison to other hospitals where you can spend hours and hours . Very good hospital. Well done.

The medical people are lovely. If it were only about them Iโ€™d give it a 5**. Dan and his colleague were so great with my dad from nuclear medicine. Such lovely kind people. Unfortunately thatโ€™s where to good ends. We got to at Bartโ€™s and had some breakfast. I asked for a bacon sw on brown bread this was impossible and ended up with two slices of bacon thrown on top. Then asked for two breakfasts. I told the person I had also got three hot drinks two coffees and a tea. I then paid asking her for some ketchup and butter which she slid quite abruptly across the counter. Then whilst we were eating she came over checking the receipt she told me that she had not taken for the drinks. So I asked her can we eat the breakfast whilst itโ€™s hot. At this point she was much politer than earlier and was very polite when I paid. However need to be like that at all times. Know itโ€™s busy but manners cost nothing. Next issue. Having had to be her for the past two days. The toilets are filthy. The sanitary bins are overflowing with bloody sanitary products spilling out. Iโ€™ve been to a number of floors for the different years for my dad. Theyโ€™re all over flowing thatโ€™s so disgusting and in a hospital where cleanliness is essential. The food and drinks are extortionate. Even for a london based place. The coffee is not great very very bitter. Need better roasting beans. I have to say that the experience is only good to the medical and reception staff. All the rest is so very very poor. Who ever put their name to having checked the toilets and saying there clean should be dismissed. As honesty should always be policy especially when dealing with members of the public.

We went to A&E and had the misfortune of being seen by Dr Julian Soans. He was not able to explain my partners diagnosis clearly, like he did not know what was wrong with him. Dr Soans was cold and rude. He has a very poor way of dealing with patients, like he lacks empathy and compassion. He looks right through you. He also appears to have poor knowledge as he could not explain himself properly. I just hope we never have to be seen by him again. I fear for the future of the nhs.

I have always thought Barts was a fabulous Hospital, I have had surgery and Chemotherapy there and I cannot fault them for the care and professional approach of all the Staff I have dealt with. Today I visited for a blood test carried out by the amazing Sandra in Phlebotomy. It was very busy. There was a slight hiccup with the paperwork but she gave me as much advice and help as she could and after following her instructions I was back in her office and having my bloods taken shortly after. To Sandra I wasn't just a hospital number I was a real person and she readily gave her help. Well done Sandra & Barts.

Do yourself a favour and do not book yourself here for the pain management clinic. Youโ€™ll receive little, to no care whatsoever. My mother was under them for 6 years, no MRI, no procedure, no plan, no medication review. Received 4 appointments, with no treatment plan. Each time, the doctor had to consult with his seniors and ask us to come in again. They cancelled 3 of my motherโ€™s appointments and received no rescheduled appointment at the end. They would not answer my calls, nor reply to my emails. My motherโ€™s GP had no luck either, at the end we were referred elsewhere and since my mother has received proper medical attention.

Currently in the cardiac unit after being blue lit from hometon hospital. The second I arrived the staff on 3a east were excellent the nurses are total diamonds! They have been superb in their care of me. Putting my mind at ease in a stressful time. The team in the cath lab for my angiogram I can't thank you enough for calming down when I was having a panic attack. They told me each step of the way exactly what they were going to do. The wards are clean and tidy. Nothing seems to much trouble even at 3am. Than you from the bottom of my heart.

Recently, I had the unforeseen need to rush to Barts Hospital due to a back injury. The experience, from start to finish, was nothing short of remarkable, highlighting the incredible value and importance of the NHS. From the moment I arrived, the efficiency and compassion of the staff were evident. Despite what I can only imagine was a hectic day, they ensured I was comfortable and attended to promptly. The medical team was not only highly skilled but also empathetic, providing reassurance and clear explanations at every step of my treatment. The care I received at Barts Hospital was top-notch. The expertise of the doctors, nurses, and support staff in managing my back injury was impressive. They worked tirelessly to ensure my pain was managed and that I understood the treatment plan. Their dedication to patient care was evident in every interaction. Moreover, this experience has reinforced my belief in the necessity of protecting and adequately funding the NHS. The level of care and support provided by Barts Hospital is a testament to the quality and dedication within the NHS. I am immensely grateful to all the staff for their exceptional care and kindness. It's a vivid reminder of why the NHS is a treasured institution, deserving of our support and investment to ensure its continuity for future generations.

Hi there, Good afternoon. I'm reviewing the reason why, I have an appointment on the 17th February 22, I have called the number on the website shows, and asked for help on the issue at the reception, and a lady answered and said hello, whats the reason for call, obviously I did mention everything what the letter says and I have another appointment next month, so recently I have received another letter it says if did received any previous letter to ignore it. So in that case I asked the lady to help me , without saying anything she transferred to someone who unable to answer, so I had to call again the same lady answered and she goes I transfer it u to someone what they say , I said they're unavailable to answer she goes hold on again she transferred to them people ive been waiting and no one answered it's been more than half an hour now and I don't know what's happening. I did mention the lady but I don't know her name , she didn't gave me the chance to ask her name, ive mentioned what she ask me and what she say but but I did mention it in a nice way but she sounds so Rude the lady very unhappy with her service I'm very disappointed and I didn't get no help. I don't know about my appointment what is going on and when Iis my appointment because I have received a few letters so I'm confused. I'm sorry for the messages the lady gave me the attitude that I had to explain. Thank you

Had a bad experience with one of the phlebotomists today. First time Iโ€™ve seen her and because my veins are so thin she couldnโ€™t draw blood in the first instance. She pulled the needle out and tried to reuse the same needle on the same site. I had to pull away my arm and ask her to use a different one then she went nagging on about how the NHS have to ration things and that I was wrong and that being a phlebotomist takes a lot of hard work and trainingโ€ฆ but no! Itโ€™s standard practice to not reuse the same needle even on the same patient you must use a new one. Iโ€™ve had blood tests all my life at Great Ormond Street Hospital and UCLH- who always discard the needle after struggling to draw blood from me they never reuse. 5 stars to ward 5A and the rest of the phlebotomy dept tho!

Thank you to all the doctors that from the first moment they treated my father as soon as they could in the best possible way. Thank you everyone. My father was in the bed 17 and he is still recovering after his operation. Thanks again 4C ward.

Went with my girlfriend for an MRI scan, reception went smoothly but then after 40 minutes of waiting nobody came to call her name however people would constantly be taken in. After we checked with the reception a lady came literally 10 seconds after saying โ€œwe didnโ€™t forget about you weโ€™re just running behindโ€. Poor service but what can you do if you canโ€™t afford to go private?

Donโ€™t use the free phone taxi phone in the reception. We pushed the top button had to wait 30 mins for collection and then it was a normal car with no badge or trip meter for fare amount. The diver took us to our destination which was only the Barbican centre car park. A black cab told us previously the fare will be about ยฃ4. Well first he pulled up and we got out for our luggage he said the fair we only had cards but he only took cash so he dropped two of us off and took one of us to a cash point machine further than our original ride and charge him ยฃ15 as he dropped him off. RIP OFF merchants.

For cardiology this may be the best in the country. I've been going to GUCH (Grown-Up Congenital Heart: Those born with issues) for 5yrs: Both the cardiology and pacemaker side. Thus far it has been a mix of check-ups, a few tests and a pacemaker device change. At every stage they are all 5 stars: doctors, nurses, reception/admin: Professional, knowledgeable, kind and caring. From the first day I was amazed at their service. They are incredibly well-organised. For example, there are phone-in numbers in case of questions or emergencies, where we can speak to specialist nurses, who frankly understand cardiology better than the average GP. Several times I've had to put in calls to them - they respond promptly, according to need and always manage to answer questions/find answers and put my mind at rest/give advice. Thank you so much for everything.

Two months ago I had an appointment two in the endocrinology department with Dr Rebecca Gorrrigan. There was discussion of a diagnosis and treatment, however, Iโ€™m still awaiting test results and a letter to say what prescription is required. Two months seems an awfully long time to wait with exacerbating symptoms for what should, in theory, be a straightforward prescription, which will make an significant improvement in the quality of my life. The department doesnโ€™t pick up the phone (ever). My GP office has had some success in getting through to the endocrinology department, but itโ€™s a tedious process. Given the choice, I wouldnโ€™t use this endocrinology service again.

Had an amazing experience at this hospital. Really looked after by the doctors and taken care of by the staff. I was in several wards but 6D and 4A were my favourites. Avoiding talking about the reason I was there (and the experiences in the recovery room and HDU ?), this hospital really does care for you. Much more than the other hospitals such as Royal London. I happened to celebrate my birthday in the hospital as well and all the staff and nurses sang for me, gave me wishes and treats (stolen from the canteen!). It is brilliantly located in the heart of the city, making it convenient to get to, yet is surprisingly quiet. I can't thank the doctors, nurses, medical assistants enough (from light green scrubs to dark blue scrubs) who helped me with my recovery. In particular I'd like to thank Jason, Jerry, Maria and Gita for making such a big difference in making me better.

Remember you are appreciated. However people with a grudge can still make up things about regulated staff (non-managers) and put the health and social care professionals on trial for fabrications. It happened to me. Please read up on regulatory law and protect yourselves from unscrupulous regulatory and disciplinary lawyers and unscrupulous complainants, who are the lawyers' clients. The public are not the clients of the regulatory lawyers!!! It's all about money making for the managers and lawyers.

This secret square is so lovely and quite, the Hospital not so much. If you are in the hospital and can get out for a break I could not think of a more pretty place to come, lots of seating, some sheltered others just under the trees. The most lovely thing for me are the little cupids and the sound of the fountain. I did the image in photoshop and could not get it all in without incorporating half the square, whereas I wanted to concentrate on the little guys.

Appointment & personal details are sent to a GP that I'm not with & no one can alter this?? Appointment letters are posted last minute & arrive days or even a week after scheduled appointments. Frequent missed appointments? they had admin issues but blamed you as the system shows the appointment was booked. Staff play around too much based on thier inability to keep preconceived stereotypes/ stigma and prejudice from interfering with patients treatment/interactions. Allergy dietician ? I'm still trying to figure out what they've helped with since 2019. Discharged from the service more times than I've been helped. Google & forums are your best bet gir advice. Then go private.
