I gave birth 2nd time at UCLH and this had been the worst experience ever! It happened during the covid restriction in 2021 and I was eventually taken in for emergency c section after not dilating enough. Labour ward staff were amazing but as soon as I was put in the post maternity ward the midwife’s were clueless and unprofessional! My hubby was allocated only 3 hours per day to be with me due to the restriction which was bizzare as c section patient should’ve been given a bit of Lee way especially as I wasn’t able to move much straight after the surgery! Instead they said they will help me but little did I know they forced me to change baby nappy and feed baby all whilst my leg was still numb from surgery epidural! It was disgusting behaviour from some of the midwife’s that refused to care for me and my child and also decided my hubby can’t stay to help me! I have named these midwife to the hospital PALs team which was also useless as they had responded back with nothing but an apology which meant nothing to me as I was mentally abused and physically drained by the experience! I would say UCLH overall is very good hospital but the maternity ward and midwife especially need to be inspected to see if they’re doing their jobs right as I wasn’t the only person feeling this way! Most ladies I met in the ward had a similar story but some haven’t voiced it! The maternity ward is a huge let down for such a reputable and well known trust ! My treatment was unforgettable and certainly unforgivable- As I returned home in tears!

I gave birth and had all the pregnancy appointments here. Honestly, I really had a bad time. Most of the staff ignored me a lot and they were quite rude. Had a severe bruise on my arm after a nurse took my blood one time. When I was forced to stay in the hospital to “monitor” my baby. No one wanted to keep an eye on my baby when I wanted to shower. I was sent to a different floor to get some hot water to drink , a nurse treated me like a thief and gave me boiling hot water and it burned my mouth. The fourth day of staying in the hospital also the last day , I insisted to leave as I didn’t see any reason to stay and I was exhausted from giving birth and looking after the baby all by myself, hardly got any sleep, a nurse looked like who was in charge there immediately changed her attitude and ignored me since then just because she couldn’t convince me to stay. Only thank two midwives who helped me give birth at the birth center. So I gave one more star for them two. The rest was a truly nightmare. And yes I’m aware that the nurses do a difficult job but that time the ward wasn’t even busy. If they act like this because they overwork and underpay , they shouldn’t take it out on me or any other patients. The most unbelievable thing is I was stuck in the UK because of Covid and also the Home office took 1.5 year to process my visa. UCLH never mentioned a word of the cost o for my pregnancy the whole time even tricked me to stay extra days so they could charge me more money. Now they ask me to pay £8000, is it really my responsibility?

I waited in the emergency department for over 4 hours and a doctor will see me. I had a dislocated ankle…. I had a pain, no one was interested if I needed anything for pain. Arrogant people at the reception. People were called to the doctor who came later than me ... and when my daughter asked how much longer because my mother had a pain. The staff focused on my daughter not wearing a face mask ,not that it's hard for me, There should be empathy for people, not disrespect. Sad.

Am currently sleeping on the floor on top of my coat inside the a&e ward as there are no beds in the hospital but they want me to stay in. Bleak. Also the staff here are devoid of any soul and warmth. Lovely modern and well-equipped building so there is obviously lots of money here. But the staff are awful and cold. EDIT: Once I got to the inpatient ward everything was amazing! But a&e staff were really horrendous

The prime example of the utopia we would be living in the UK, would all the NHS have proper funding. It is the best hospital you can wish for, from the exceptional staff, to the processes, the attentive care you receive and the stellar facilities. It is properly financed and it shows, and from a personal perspective, I was lucky to be treated here.

Thanks so much for the booster jab volunteers to make the process so much easier. The waiting was well planned and the queue wasn’t that long either. Very organised and sanitary measures in place. The staff who vaccinated me was wearing gloves and masks etc. and also ensured that I felt calm before the jab. I was offered to wait for few minutes post jab which was again very kind. Even though I hot my appointment booked on Sunday, the jab was offered real quick as there wasn’t much waiting. Thanks to the ones in ward K to the pleasant experience

Doctors are fantastic, professional, kind and understand how to treated patient well. However it's absolutely disgusting how person who came with patient treated at the doors. When cancer patient going to hear the results, especially with type 4 cancer they do need someone to sit next to them, to hold hand, to assure them that everything will be OK. But they just say 0 visitors policy🤬 Are you in your normal state of mind??? I only wish to people who invented this policy that your relatives will go through it alone and you will not be able to support your child or you parents so maybe then something will change in you head😡😡

This hospital is a decent place, I was born here. The cleanliness of the children's ward is not good, there were crumbs on the floor and it didn't look clean. I do like that u get seen rather quick. The scenery is nice and relaxing as there is a sensory wall will rainbow bubbles flowing. The staff are nice.

A&E for a smashed knee cap, saw a doctor twice and had X-rays, all done in 90 minutes. All done with a smile. Hugely commendable! Thank you

I've visited the hospital few days ago and I've been hospitalized for 2 days. I was happy with the service and would like to say a massive thank to the staff - the doctors, nurses, catering assistants, cleaners they were all very friendly, kind and helpful. Thank you very much for your hard work! Well done

Nurses and Doctors did my fathers operation were fantastic. However, after that point it went down hill. My mother was told she would be called after my father finished having his operation which was due to finish around 2/3 pm. Nobody called by 7pm and we had to spend over an hour trying to get through to the correct department. Eventually we got through and someone said they would call back. We went to visit my father the following day (late afternoon). He was told they needed to change his bandages in the morning. He kept asking when it will be changed and kept being told they’ll come back! He was covered in lots of dried blood. After him chasing about 11 times, they finally changed the dressing around 10pm! It was supposed to be changed in the morning to stop infections occurring. Whilst I get staff are currently underpaid, busy and most likely demotivated. There were some staff hanging around the nurses station not doing very much. When I did finally track down the nurse, they didn’t really know much about my father. There are also no TV’s for patients to pay to watch TV/listen to the radio in the post operative recovery ward. It’s rather depressing to be honest. I would not recommend this hospital and got my father out ASAP!

The worst treatment I have had in a hospital. I went to the hospital 2 days ago for blood test, and I was sent to multiple departments. I spend over an hour trying to find someone that could direct me to the right place. I almost end up doing the wrong procedure when a nurse told me to take my top of for heart monitoring, I told her I was there for a blood test. At the reproduction clinic I was also told I had an attitude, just because I am black! I did not have an attitude I was upset with the messiness of the hospital, I was very polite and direct. I wanted to cry . I am Not going back to that place

My son was admitted through A&E this lunchtime. Tried for 6 hours to find out whether he is alive or dead but nobody answers the phone. Still don't know. Is this what you want from your NHS? Gave 50 years of my life to healthcare - so sad to see care diminished to this dismal level. Don't tell me you are busy - it has always been frantic. Get rid of the superfluous managers, targets and form filling and save lives like you trained for.

Turned up here this morning after suffering 9 months of gastritis. The staff where amazing, I had been to royal free 20 times prior and they didn't do anything besides send me home with an IV in my arm on 2 occasions. The amazing staff here could see I was struggling and gave me all the right medication for my problem before giving me a CT scan and even breckfast. I really can't thank them enough. Hopefully they close the royal free hospital down. Its little more than a turnstile for the sick.

I went there with a very injured and bleeding big toe. I was registered very easily, was seen fairly soon by a nurse who was very pleasant and efficient. I then was taken for x-ray, again the staff were really nice. I then waited for a short while to see a doctor, he was also pleasant and thorough, but thought I should be referred to the orthopaedic team. I was then made comfortable in a cubicle. They were quite a long time in coming as the hospital was very busy. They came and did a great job of cleaning my wound, but wanted me admitted for surgery next day. I was first on the list and all the surgical staff were great. They did a wonderful job of patching me up and I was discharged and on my way home by early afternoon. I was even given a protective boot, so I really cannot thank ALL the hospital staff enough.

Got admitted to hospital for a stomach bug stayed over night the paediatric surgical team came to see us in the morning and they started specking to my 10 year old child with out acknowledging I was even their (the parent). Then when they finished explaining to my 10 year old child they tried to leave without telling me any information. Beyond my understanding how they can explain everything to a 10 year old child and not inform the parent. What a joke.

I am greatful to all the staffs who treated me in Same Day Emergency Care. It was my first inpatient experience in the UK. All the staffs were so gentle, treated me with so much love and compassion. Especially gynecologists Dr. Musthafa, Dr. Charlotte(she is very beautiful, but definitely needs a new uniform🙃 just joking😆). I do not have words to express my gratitude toward both of them. Other staffs Jenson, Teddy, Paulo, other lady staffs in the emergency care on that day. The ultrasound doctor and lovely ladies and a gentleman in the scanning room. All the night staffs in the emergency room and T9 staffs. The facility was clean and the food was good. Front desk staffs were also very good I did not have a wait time.

Thanks for everything, you are super talented and I can see you take great care in your work. Thank you

I attended A&E with a head injury overnight and end to end was there for 7 hours. Took 4.5 hours to be seen (despite the fact had a deep wound and needed a CT scan). Receptionists rude and uninterested but that seems to be a standard in A&E departments. Assessment nurses weren’t that interested either and zero people skills / rude. Positives - the nurse I was seen by when I got through was very nice and put me at ease, as was the nurse who gave my my stitches however they could have given more details on aftercare but I get it they are short staffed and rushed. I went back 24 hours later with numbness on my head and was seen within the hour by a lovely doctor who took the time to explain my symptoms. I would use this hospital again, it was clean and nice waiting area however I would not recommend going overnight unless absolutely necessary as will be a long wait. I went at 5pm (Saturday) and was seen quickly.

This hospital does not listen to patients. It is all about getting through our day and ticking the boxes. So no voice for patients , no time. In my experience, I was blatantly lied to. And when I raised I was lied to, it was skirted around. I was Told to go home that my blood results said I was fine. I questioned this at the time but was assured because in the morning rounds this is not was I was told. Early the next morning, I had an urgent call to say I must come back to the hospital as they just received my blood results……….and I could be facing sepsis as none of the medication I was on in the days I was in the hospital were effective. Why was I discharged when the results they were waiting for were not yet available? I was told they spoke with microbiology and was given the all clear. I have zero confidence. By no voice- the nurses come around and took my vitals seeing I was feverish with rigours, With them saying they will get me paracetamol never came back for hours. Absolutely awful. I felt worse being in the hospital then before I went in.

My name is Minal and I was hospitalised at UCLH from 21st October 2023 until 28th October 2023 with a nasty infection. I was put on sepsis protocol and I was eventually diagnosed with abscesses. The care and treatment I received from the time I arrived at A&E until I was discharged was exceptional. I was in such a bad state that I cannot remember all the names of the staff who looked after me, but I have to mention the nurse in A&E majors, Davinia Sabater Guijarro, as she took care of me with a lot of kindness and compassion. She was brilliant! Eventually, I was admitted to medical ward only briefly and then gynaecology ward. Nurse Reena from the medical ward was very kind, although I was only there for a very short time. Some of the nurses on gynaecology ward who looked after me were Nurse Erlou, Nurse Sidikat, Nurse Jordine, Nurse Kawser, Nurse Olu, Nurse Nishma, Nurse Bushirah, Nurse Antonio, HCA Maureen, Ward physio Bethany and many other nurses and healthcare assistants to whom I am very grateful to for the care and support they gave me whilst I was on that ward. The Gynaecology team led by Dr Naaila Aslam were fantastic and I feel that I am here and alive today because of them. My local hospital had sent me away with Trimethoprim and a wrong diagnosis just the previous day. Had I not gone to UCLH that Saturday evening, I wouldn't have made it, as my CRP was 400 and I was septic. Thank you to Dr Aslam and her team including Dr De Braud, Dr Tatiana, Dr Neha, Dr Julie, Dr Omar, Dr Hannah, Dr Alison and everyone in that team. They saved my life! When I had my procedure to drain the abscess, the nurses were so supportive including nurse Kit and nurse Emma. There were other nurses in that room too, but I don't recall all the names. All were wonderful. I would not have got through that procedure without their words of support and encouragement, in particular Nurse Kit and Nurse Emma. I hope the above mentioned staff and anyone who looked after me reads this review. I am forever grateful to them. UPDATE (5th December 2023): I spent a further two nights at UCH when the infection returned. Lots of wonderful nurses and healthcare assistants in A&E majors and same day emergency care (thank you Dr Maria Marouli and Nurse Jennifer). Another positive experience on gynae ward. Nurses Warda, Queen, Alena and Clare were all very kind, attentive and extremely competent.

The experience we had so far with the hospitals from this chain is a positive one, from how the nurses/doctors/midwifes and staff in general are interacting/treating patients to the professionalism they provide. We have gone through investigations, tests, aftercare, operations and pregnancy process in a way that made us feel cared for and with positive results too at the end. Thank you for the effort and support, totally recommend! 👍🏻

The staff here extremely overstretched in the ward and in the accident and emergency department. The mannerisms of the staff can be at times very rude to patients, in the morning I was given my breakfast which I had to eat on my bed as their was a lack of tables for patients and their wasn't any pillows for patients.

Except for the odd few staff members and doctors we've met that have actually been lovely, 90% of the staff here are rude as hell. One time my partner was left waiting for the receptionist to finish her personal chat for nearly 10 minutes. Another time he was shouted at down the phone by a receptionist in pain management because he couldnt hear her the best. Awful to their patients and dont treat them like PATIENTS at all. You know patients, the ones who are vulnerable most the time, yeah those are the ones suffering because of this when theyre probably already suffering from other things. Not okay.

My friend has been in there for days now,and besides running a drip, nothing! Its been 2 days and and he can't get anyone to tell him the results from the scan! I can see the blood clots that are blocking his catheter ,and the nurse is straight up saying there aren't any,Supervisor comes to check and has to apologize cause there they are!! Last night,"A male nurse that is telling him that he is not qualified to remove or replace a Canola and his boss is SHUFFLING yes SHUFFLING around the ward telling him not to move his hand while he's **** sleeping*** as to not disturb the canola ( the thing that they put in your vein) As a patient you have the right to quality and competent care. They give him pills he ask's what they're giving him and they respond "don't worry about it." He can't speak up for himself, without the nurse saying she is NOT taking any abuse!! WHAT about the non care and ABUSE they are giving and causing to him!!! What has happened to caring for patients. There is also construction right outside his window,it sounds like they're right in the room with him,SO FREAKING LOUD. Why wouldn't the hospital move those patients. The same nurse is now standing outside his room telling everyone loudly how she feels about him!! Where is the professionalism,Christine J.?straight up blood 24/7 and NOT once has anyone talked about stopping it or fixing the problem. What has happened to health care!! I dare say his age and color may be underlying factors. Shame!!

Failed to action referrals to other departments which would have helped me control and managed my health conditions overall symptoms. My Gp asked them 2.5 years ago t make such referrals in house and I have been debating with them t do a ever since. Causing me much stress, making my conditions worse and all along I have had to sit with unmanaged joint pain which a an additional spar f my condition that the hospital has failed to explore, listen to me about o make the requested referrals. I Have been back a forth with them about making such referrals and the have never done so nor do they get back to me. I had th team I need to be referred to make contact with my lungs specialist team manage today only for her manage to call me back and tell me t go back t my gp and ask them t refer met the other department. When they can do it themselves in house and such have done so when they first saw me in 2021. I have an auto-immune condition and the stress causes my immune system to go into overdrive. So the hospital covering my care shoul understand this since they are the ones that told me this me a they themselves should not be the ones adding t my stress since they took over the care of my current health Condition since 2021. They fails to give me a medication that could help me and one cal gave me one to deal with the lung oar of my condition and stated to me that it would make me put on weighed and they also trusting manipulate me into getting the covid vaccine even after telling me they don’t know how my body would take to the vaccine. A dr cried in front of me and my daughter telling me if O card about my kids I would take the vac as I would die if I did not. Two weeks later O came down with Covid it hit me bad and guess what I am still fully alive and still have never had the vac. This was clearly them trying to manipulate a sick patient into getting the vac which I always told them I did not want nor did I trust In. The quality of care for me as their patient is a sham, Inadequate and highly unprofessional and the dr that crud about the vac that was borderline manipulative of a vunerabl patient. I have not seen my specialty in person for a long whip van though. Lee making requests t do so which ar ignored on the my care app. Nor have I had the ongoing bloods that should take by 3 months since the end of 2022 and they have failed to give me the yearly lung function test. Which I should be having since the first lung function test in 2021. Therefore I will now be asking for my health issue to be card for and referred to a competent hospital with competent and caring staff who will do what is necessary to help me manage my pain and overall symptoms of my health condition. Clearly I can not trust them to provide the care that they and I clearly know I need.

I had no follow up appointment after an internal procedure in 2019. My GP has referred me back several times but ignored. She is still referring me. This hospital is failing patients - if your aim is to discharge without follow up or further investigation this is failing patients and causing more patients and backlog in the NHS.

It's amazing staff and alot of help besides the mental health ward. They didn't allow me to go home when I didn't concent to be transferred to another hospital and lied that I need to have my medication changed when I said my medication is perfect. They ignored why I was there. They took less than 5 minutes to come to the conclusion that I needed to change my medication . That is a dangerous thing to do and shame on that nurse. It was obvious he wasn't a mental health nurse.

I ve mobiliy issues and was with my partner this morning who needed a cancer scan. The scan was at the McMillan building. A huge empty ground floor and I was not allowed in. Only patients. Disgusting. We were both anxious and I was left on the pavement having to work out where to go. I needed the loo and managed to limp to Euston station. It was freezing cold. What an arrogant dump of a hospital. Totally arrogant and nasty. Avoid scans here if you can

The staff there is awesome and waiting time was minimal! I came in to a&e with a suspected rib fracture, in less than 2.5 hours they registered me in, nurse took notes of my symptoms, a doctor saw me, got the radiologist to run an X Ray, and gave the diagnosis. Was expecting long hours just to get visited.

Was dropped in front of the main entrance by a taxi, queued in front of the info desk/reception to ask where to go and was approached by someone with a yellow badge (working or volunteer from the hospital) to ask if he can help and promptly answered us to go directly to the A&E unit with clear direction. The staff, nurses & specially the doctor was very calming and thorough in their job. The facility is very clean. It took us less than a couple of hours with the medication from the pharmacy and went back home… The only minor comments is that there was no discharge summary report, either they missed to give us or it does not exist. Also the A&E waiting area seems to be small, perhaps it is under renovation not sure…

I had to take my two year old son here twice on holiday. The nurses and doctors were exceptional. I am forever grateful to the nurses who blew bubbles and read to my son to distract him while they took his vitals. A nurse also brought him a Peppa Pig doctor kit while we waited for the doctor. The doctors were also patient, knowledgeable, and kind. Taking your son to A&E on holiday in another country is not ideal. However, the staff made it bearable with their dedicated care and kindness. Thank you!

I had to come here to have a cyst lanced. Had to go to the imaging dept where they ultrascaned my cyst watching what they were doing with a steroid needle.Very interesting to watch! Not too painful, and the radiologist was kind and cheerful and explained everything he was about to do.Put me at ease, and was v skillful. Overall, a good experience. Lovely modern hospital.

It’s a fantastic hospital and everyone is doing their best. The people rating low are probably the ones who are wasting the A&Es time with non urgent issues. If they made you wait, it’s because there was someone sicker than you. Your frustration would be better re-directed at the government who don’t want to fund extra staff

I would love to say thank you to the midwife’s who made my delivery amazing ❤️ I had a very pleasant experience with great and amazing midwives who deserve the best. I cannot remember all of their names and I managed to take notes of two names (Sarina And Emily ). Both of these midwives were great, caring, attentive and so helpful. I wouldn’t have had the experience I did without them. Please do thank them for me. Apologies it has taken a while to write this review. They should keep up with the amazing work they doing ❤️ Thank you so much again ❤️

I am just gobsmacked at the absolute unprofessionalism at this hospital!! How are you going to have patients and treat them like they're an inconvenience to you!! My friend has been in the hospital for days now,and when he asks questions about HIS health, they respond with <"Don't worry." He went 20 hours with NO food,I mean what the heck! When he asks about his medication they won't tell him what they're giving him? They won't clean off his bed tray, and when he asks for help,he gets,"Its not my job." WHat has happened to Healthcare!? When he does finally get a visit from a Doc they talk down to him, like he is garbage! He finally got his cane back, that they took and didn't bring back to him for 2 days. He is due to have a Biopsy done, and he asked when that will take place, and again the response,"soon." Listen..EVERY PATIENT HAS A RIGHT TO CARE QUALITY CARE. WHEN THE PATIENT INQUIRES ABOUT THEIR HEALTH..IT IS THEIR BUSINESS YOU DON'T HOLD THAT INFORMATION FROM THEM. NURSES ARE NOTHING LIKE THEY WERE 20 YEARS AGO,THESE PEOPLE ACT LIKE YOU SHOULD BE HAPPY TO BE IN THE SAME BUILDING WITH THEM. I STRAIGHT UP WORRY FOR HIM AND HIS LIFE! WHERE ARE THE HEAD OF HOSPITAL,WHERE ARE THE SUPERVISOR,HELL NO ONE HAS CHECKED ON HIM IN HOURS...HOURS!! i AM GOING TO START POSTING THIS EVERYWHERE,I AM CALLING THE RADIO STATIONS..IF MY FRIEND DIES BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE CONTINUE TO NEGLECT HIM..I SWEAR EVERY SINGLE PERSON WILL KNOW JUST WHAT SORT OF QUAKERY THE NHS IS. IF YOU ARE ELDERLY,A PERSON OF COLOR, YOU DON'T HAVE A CHANCE..ITS LIKE THEY JUST WANT HIM TO DIE!! BE AWARE OF THE NEGLIGENCE OF THIS HOSPITAL.

I came for an endoscopy, the department seemed to have had some maintenance over night which put them slightly behind . I have visited this hospital now at least 10 times for endoscopy. The place is spotlessly clean, the staff always polite. One of the best hospitals I have had to visit. The Hospital Transport has never let me down and this visit I was lucky enough to get a new ambulance with a very friendly driver. I enjoy coming here even though it's to treat precancerous polyps in my stomach.

Having my second baby just recently in the EGA wing, I am truly grateful for the highly professional and extremely caring and compassionate members of staff. I cannot praise the teams highly enough. I have been supported every step of the way, in every decision. Brilliant experience, thank you all!

I waited over 2.5 hours and didn’t get seen. I told them repeatedly that I was having trouble breathing properly, my sinuses were all blocked and it was difficult to swallow. My chest was paining but the staff didn’t seem to care. They let several people go through even though they came after me and their condition was not serious. Even after waiting 2.5 hours people who walked through the door laughing and joking around were being seen but I was still waiting. They said they prioritise patients but it’s clear they don’t. I would expect better from a UCL clinic, the service was horrendous and I would not recommend it.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, I had what turned out to be a transient ischaemic attack. The paramedics (who were also amazing) took me to UCH on their recommendation, despite The Whittington being just up the hill from me. I was seen very quickly, especially for a Saturday night with police officers milling around the waiting room. Everyone I met was wonderful. They were warm and welcoming, making me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived to when the pharmacist saw me just as they were closing. Every member of staff was kind, gentle, and empathetic. I was so scared and tired, but I knew I was in the best possible hands. Dr Miriam Carone was amazing and the report that Mary Niroshinee Muthukumarasamy prepared of the CT scan results was very clear and helpful. Every member of staff I met was really nice. I'm going through something really scary, but I feel like I'm in good hands.

I was worried because I knew the hospital's A&E waiting times usually last 4 hours, but to my surprise, UCL @ Warren Street today was super quick! I was seen after an hour and 15 minutes. The receptionist, Linda, had a lovely smile, and her customer service was excellent! She met my needs with brilliant vibration equipment (due to my deafness) to alert me when the doctor called my name. I've had the best hospital experience ever! Well done! If I need A&E, I would come to this hospital instead! 10 stars ⭐️

This is the most wonderful hospital in my opinion in the whole world. I was treated at this hospital in 2013 for cancer and I am still alive nearly seven years later. The nurses and Doctors here are wonderful they go out of their way to help you in every way and nothing is too much for them to help you with I owe my life to them and I will never forget how very nice to me they were while I was having my treatment and after when I had to go for my check up's. I might in some way have forgotten them but not completely and I will try in the future to remind my self I owe them all the respect they deserve. I do wish them a very Happy Christmas and a very Wonderful New Year.

I was taken to A&E here after a nasty fall, & I have to say I was absolutely blown away by the second to none care & treatment that I received from the most incredible Staff & Doctors I have ever come across in my entire life. This is coming from someone who's petrified of Needles, let alone Hospitals! However, on this occasion, something was different, I just felt safe & okay knowing that I was being seen to in the best way... nothing seemed to worry me & for once I didn't feel anxious or on edge... still behaved like a complete wuss when it came to the stitches & injections though! Despite the uncontrollable swearing, we all had a good laugh about it! ? Everyone was so calming & reassuring the whole way through, the professionalism & dedication was beyond top quality! I could go on & on forever, but to anyone from the Hospital reading this, I think I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say no amount of thanks on this earth will ever justify the gratitude owed to you all for the long hours, hard work & dedication you put in to keep the people of this Country well & on their feet. A blessing doesn't even come close to it, you should all be ever so proud of yourselves, you amazing human beings. Big Love ❤️

Worst hospital I have ever been to in my life. Sat in A&E for 4 hours with shattered glass in my hand whilst it bled profusely. Other patience’s strolled In after me and we’re seen first. Young lady at the front desk dressed like the grim reaper is very cold and offers no help at all, definitely not a sight for sore eyes. I think even if I got shot outside of this hospital I would rather lay there on the street then be seen here. Dreadful place.

Staff were fabulous in keeping me informed though my surgery day. I have been visiting various departments for over 2 years. The day surgery ream reminded me of how effective the team are within the hospital. Ensureing that my needs were met throughout the process. Ensuring information was given in a clear and consice manner. Both before and after staff were pleasant and more than willing to assist. Even bringing medication down to the recovery room from my bag. Mr Hunter and his team were very efficient. I felt very much a part of my care plan and understood any risk related to my surgery prior to signing the dotted line. The day surgery ward nurses were great allowing me to be placed next to the lady I had started chatting with in the recovery room. This extra length made my day. To all the staff at UCLH a big thank you!

Unbelievably attentive in every respect. Having approached two private hospitals in London W1 on a Saturday afternoon, I was informed that my medical emergency could not be assessed until the following Monday morning. A friend suggested that I should go to UCH A&E. Within twenty minutes I was assessed and hospitalized ten minutes later due to the severity of my medical needs; I can't thank the doctors, nurses and staff enough for the treatment I received over a three day period. It was only post treatment that I was informed that my wind pipes had been on the verge of failing, and could have suffocated. The NHS are miracle workers here in the UK.

I had my worst experience with a doctor at UCH. He had no proper understanding of my condition and showed no care or even interest in assisting me. He sent letters to my GP with inaccurate contents and arranged a test which was unsuitable and even dangerous for me. He did not arrange a referral that he promised he would. I am a vulnerable individual with mental health issues but he ignored all my needs.

I am completely bowled by the quality of all the doctors and nurses that work here. They have all gone over and beyond each day, everyday to provide treatment and care.

I was brought to the hospital by an ambulance to get my condition checked out because I was having a bad reaction to a drug that they had given me during my last visit. I could not control my eye muscle movements and felt very disoriented and I kept telling the nurses that I needed medical treatment. And yet, they kept insisting that I was only having a panic attack and the nurses refused to give me any further treatment as “they believe they did all that they could”. Very disappointing experience. At the end, I left the A&E feeling completely drained and my condition was not checked out by the doctors as they denied me of further diagnosis.

Been there a few times (urgency and not, for myself or close people). Never had a check. Always been told they can't do anything. I guess it's just a building where people sit, drink coffee and have a chat but surely it's not an hospital. Always had good welcoming, laughs and good chats with the guys at the first check point. But an hospital aim must be to cure people. It's quite embarrassing.

The quality of services at this hospital leaves a lot to be desired !!! My surgery was canceled three times: first an urgent patient, another reason the doctor consulted me for surgery under local anesthesia, therefore it was canceled because it should be performed under general anesthesia. Also the incompetence of the doctor and the third appeal was due to the lack of a bed and in the order for surgery I was second. Avoid this hospital with a wide bed. Epic fail!!!!!!!

My sister had been admitted to the UCLH after having a seizure at school. After running lots of tests, they found out she had diabetes and when she was first at the hospital her blood sugar levels were 23! Because of her mental health diagnosis of psychosis, she had had massive mood swings and physical behavior. They kept her ISOLATED in a room with only a mattress with TWO SECURITY GUARDS watching the door. She had been sent to another hospital today after RECOVERING and it was a mental health hospital because apparently she would have more freedom there. My mom has had countless encounters of rude staff which kicked her out because apparently they couldn't do anything and THEY CALLED THE SECURITY ON HER when she refused to leave the child which was in a bad state.

Excellent treatment. The staff are very caring and understanding, they listen and put you at ease, they explain everything to you and are just really nice, I had bad experiences with a different hospital and decided to go to UCH this time and I'm very glad I did, the waiting times are a bit long but I'd rather wait an extra hour for my appointment and get the best treatment, than go to a hospital that has no waiting time and treats you as a number not a human and receive poor treatment. At the UCH the staff care about their patients and it shows, I have a big operation coming up and it's a huge weight off my shoulders knowing that I'm in more than capable, good and safe hands at the UCH.

Do not visit this a&e - 11 hour wait overnight. The nurse on duty (Sandra) was extremely rude to most patients and spent the duration of the night shouting at everyone, and taking “role call” where she shouted everyones name and if you didn’t respond she would remove you from the list. I am sure this doesn’t represent the other hard working drs and nurses in the hospital however I think there could be a little more kindness in the waiting room when so many people are in pain, in distress and up all night in an uncomfortable environment

  • 4/5 Natasha D. 1 year ago on Google
originally the ambulance took us to Newham for an obstructed bowl, their a&e gave a minimum 6hr wait (plus 10 people infront of us, so more like 8-10) as they work on a first come first serve basis. we got a cab straight to uclh instead and got seen in triage in under 15 mins, in a bed within 45mins and then meds, bloods, and 3 teams saw my partner within the next 2 hours. by 4 am (6 hours in) we were in a ward with a 7am surgical consult for emergency surgery. (they allowed me to stay over night with them which was great as docs only seem to see him before visiting hours) at this point we were amazed with the service, the kindness of staff, and the attention to his pain we received, the detailed explanations, everything. sadly, from there on i got no updates on his whereabouts or condition, as nurses were sure he was in the ward hours after he'd been taken to theatre. i got a confirmed update 10 hours later at midnight that i could see him for 5 mins in the icu, thankfully i was nearby still looking for info. 2 days later a team of surgeons told him no liquids, whilst on a liquid diet, and that he should go and get some Lucozade (which is a liquid?), how he would get that when he cant walk to the ward doors yet, let alone out the hospital, across a main road and to tesco and then back again when the lifts aren't working, is anyone's guess. I have to work office hours and cant be there to provide him his 3 meals, but the hospital has yet to provide food that adheres to his specific diet, expecting me to buy and cook him 3 meals a day when i work full time and live over an hour away from the hospital. the nurses have been WONDERFUL, super helpful, understanding, remembering little things he says to help out, the handovers have been in great detail between shifts, and the aid for lifestyle changes has been slow and informative, giving him time to ask questions, which we dont get as much with the doctors or surgeons. they seem to find him food, but i think its actually pity and they're buying food for him, which just isn't how this should work. Hospitals are meant to provide for their patients, and almost all the food he receives would exacerbate his condition. on the whole its an amazing hospital, and the staff genuinely are caring and attentive, and while i understand they cater for hundreds of peoples dietary requirements, docs shouldn't be ordering patients on diets that the hospital cannot fulfil.

The A&E department honestly have the worst customer service you can imagine. Rude staff who seem to not bother with providing any updates, answers to any member of the Public. They need to have management to overshadow everything as you could be sitting here for hours. The staff who call the names seem to whisper it and run back in to hiding which is seriously irritating. They need to seriously hand out those buzzers to each individual so if anyone pops to the loo, or outside for a cigarette they don’t miss their name! Simple solutions not problems.

I was admitted recently into this hospital for what turned out to be a severe migraine attack. The treatment, investigative procedures et al., including being recalled the following morning for further investigative procedures, were all conducted brilliantly and the experience felt seamless. According to a fellow patient, it is more manic at A&E at the Royal Free. They have a good team at UCH - no doubt as a result of good leadership. It is sad to see signage up as depicted. Having ‘temped’ in my early ‘20s (many moons ago!), I know it can get pretty rough, particularly with alcohol related conduct on Week Ends. ***** An Update ***** I had cause to return yesterday to the hospital to request copies of my images. Sadly a (young) lady on the front A&E reception desk behaved deploringly. A senior nurse apologised twice for my experience. A message to her (as my experience is stand out otherwise) - you may be overworked but don’t take it out on patients please! 🙏🏾

Great service delivered courteously. I was never patronised by any of the excellent staff throughout my treatment. Everything was explained politely and no one resorted to jargon. I couldn’t have had a better experience.

I went to the A&E to get checked, in less than 24h they found me a vacancy to go under surgery. It’s definitely the best hospital I’ve been in London. Quick, amazing staff, amazing service, I don’t have a single thing to complain about. All the hospitals in london should learn with them! Thank you for everything guys, you were brilliant 🤩

George Attilakos is amazing as a consultant. Thank you for delivering my beautiful son so well. I didn't enjoy my visit with Professor David Williams at all. He was not helpful towards my needs for planned C-section.

The care my husband received in A&E, triage and Majors was exemplary. Every team member was polite and efficient and kept us updated at every step. Thank you.

Today an amazing Doctor called Jessica Farren in the EGA wing helped me when she saw me struggling while waiting for a Paeds appt for my 16 week old daughter. She helped me when she could see I was struggling to console my baby. My baby has not been well and she was screaming for 1 hour while I was waiting for her appt. Jessica came over to me in the hallway and asked if I was okay. I cried and she gave me a hug and said I was doing a great job. She made my daughter’s bottle for me which was impossible for me to do while she was screaming. Thank you so much, your kindness and empathy today meant so much to me. I have had the hardest couple of weeks at home looking after my baby and it was so supportive to be asked if I’m okay and told I’m doing a good job - especially as no one else offered to help for over an hour. I could not have made that bottle for her without you! Which she did drink in the appointment. Thank you so much we need more Drs like you! and I wish you all the best. Naomi xxx

I attended the endoscopy unit with my daughter. She explained to the staff that she had previously had a bad experience at another hospital. The staff were absolutely wonderful and looked after my daughter so well. They were attentive, kind and caring. I was able to stay with her until she went under and the care my daughter received was faultless. My daughter was put at ease which resulted in a successful outcome from the procedure. This has to be one of the best experiences we have had of the NHS as a family. Thank you so much.

This hospital is very bad the stuff is so bad, rude and don't look after you at all(not including everyone most of them were like this). I came here since 17:00 it’s now 02:30 they haven’t even got a bed . One of the nurses was very rude so mister Andy came the one who was in charge and he was more rude than the nurse so I had the stuff picking on me mister Andy didn’t even let me finish the story we went off and he said this is the last warning that I am telling you or I am happy for you to leave I was just crying , not feeling well at all while I didn’t eat nothing for few days after my operation and I was on really badddd pain because I have removed my tonsils I feel so sorry for all the patients that are or would be ill/sick and have to come in this hospital . I am sitting in major sit 12 . They worst case was I came in hospital 17:00p.m on 18/12/23 and they found for me a bed at 17:00p.m on 19/12/23 exactly 24 hours they kept me in but don’t care yes . Oh forgot to say mister Andy didn’t show up before when I was begging for a bed or painkiller . He was young for himself anyway forgotten to say he was very lucky with my because I was in pain I couldn’t have said nothing be very quiet just meet him again in court for what he has done !!! Very disappointed !!!

The attitude of the black lady’s for reception in A&E was horrible, my English wasn’t that good to understand all her words so asked her to repeat but she use the despite and impatient tongues collected my information which made me felt really offended. If she used more professional attitude and treat this job more seriously, more ppl will be treated in a faster and efficient way not like chatting with colleagues and treat patients as some very cheap things. Hope she will be dismissed, I don’t want emergency patients' prime time in the emergency room is being taken away by someone so rude and arrogant.

Staff are extremely dismissive of symptoms, lack of communication between staff and patients - and on my last visit today it was absolutely filthy. I thought awaiting for test results and maybe further meds, a nurse who had NOT treated me walked into my cubical and told me I had to leave the room? I questioned this and told her I was waiting for results and the dr. She then proceeded to tell me I wasn’t waiting for testing results, no meds, no nothing? the nurse was done with me and I was to go to see GP - I proceeded to thank the the Dr that treated me and left the hospital, still having serious chest pains and unable to speak properly. I was scared and angry and all I could think of was getting home. MyChart then sent a notification saying that I had ‘Walked Out’ ~ what an absolute joke!! I was told to leave and see my GP! 🤯 the Dr that declared I had ’walked out’ was the same one I thanked… his name was Agron Galicia how can u acknowledge a thank you while someone’s leaving and not stop them when they are clearly distressed and in pain??? Why sort of Professional person of any state treats someone like that - disgusting NEVER AGAIN Had the misfortune of having to visit this hospital a number of times in the last year or so and with each visit I wish I never bothered. One time I was laying on the floor in a&e for 14hrs - one A&E nurse looked down at me ‘alright down there are we?? Laughed and walked off .. never to be seen again - I was waiting for an MRI 😒 ***Avoid avoid avoid****

I had a endoscopy yesterday on 03 Jan 2024 have to say great staff a big thank you to the nurse Olivia Coates she was one that did it. She helped me relax as I very stressed out doing this procedure. A big thank you to all her colleges as well all very kind and friendly to me as well. My beloved mum died at this hospital in Nov 2020 so it was very hard to come here but glad I did.

Absolutely disgusting service. Over a year and a half waiting for help. Never reply to emails, never answer the phone. Just don’t seem to show any sign of care whatsoever. How do the staff here get away with being so rude?? I thought they would be better in person but they’re even more blunt, unhelpful and uncaring in person.

😠 Came in here with acute abdominal pains and possibly bowel obstruction. My nightmare started when the lovely ambulance crew finally left mi in the care of the emergency department staff. Firstly to them I did not look like a patient so wasn’t treated like one. I had not eaten or drunk water for 24hr...

😠 I have arrived to this hospital at 13:20 with high blood pressure 182/118, and been seen my nurse only at 14:50 just to check my BP, which was still high. 😠 Last night I was recommended to take my son to A and E after he had a reaction to the covid vaccine. We got there about 10.30pm and we’re seen about 4.20am this morning. There was one doctor who had about 30 plus patients to see. Urgent care is not urgent care if patients are having to wait 6-7 ho...
