TO ALL LADIES BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY APPOINTMENT WITH DR OAK, PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY, I JUST WANT TO SHARE MY STORY. I Was diagnosed with multiple fibroids and got referred from NHS to BMI stepney green hospital and my consultant was DR OAK, On my first appointment i have explained him how unbearable pain i was having, I couldnā€™t eat, sleep, work or do any other activities. He told me I had to do MRI to find out the reason. After the MRI he told me I have fibroids so I have to do a surgery but he can only do open cut surgery, he doesnā€™t know how to operate laparoscopic surgery also suggested I need to do surgery as soon as possible as my fibroids was growing i had taken the MRI report as I didn't want to go for big surgery so I want to show it to other doctor , when I spoke to another private doctor with the report they explained I have severe endometriosis also which DR OAK didn't explain, on my next appointment when I told doctor oak that other doctor told me I have endometriosis and why he hadn't told me, DR OAK replied doctor doesnā€™t remember to tell everything every time. Anyway I couldn't afford private surgery and couldnā€™t change the doctor as well as the next referral suppose to take nearly 8months. dr Oak did my surgery open Myomectomy stating that, he will remove my fibroids and endometriosis. After my surgery which is a big cut of nearly 10inches when I wake up I found out Mr. oak freaked out and couldnā€™t finish my surgery as he wasn't experienced enough to handle my case. He blamed MRI scan report and he also told that no one will be able to do the surgery alone, there need to be others surgeon as my case is very critical, he also mention that my next surgery will be again open myomectomy. He left me more worse situation than before and return my case to NHS.I suffered a lot with this big cut for six months and also with pain. After surgery I had to go to emergency so many times, as my condition was getting more worse day by day. Than after doing some research i found Dr STEWART DISU, from BMI Clementine, He is a godsend. He did my laproscopic surgery and he was able to remove the fibroids and endometriosis. He didn't need any other surgeon help.

Iā€™m waiting for my surgery for over 3 1/2 years now ā€¦! Iā€™m 24 years old and now I got to a point where my knee is in a condition that Iā€™m not able to walk anymore. ā€œDr Prof.ā€ Maffuoli or something like this is giving me appointments after appointments, scans after scans and NOTHING has been done within these nearly 4 years. (I had 4 different scans and 8 meetings with him) I actually doubt that he ever studied this or has any knowledge of what heā€™s / they are doing. I have 3 pieces of my bone floating around in my knee and after he said ā€œYour surgery will be soonā€ (after Christmas 2020) he never came back to me. Now I got to my GP and have start everything from 0 again. Absolutely no trust in this ā€œDoctorā€. Even if he would come to me now I would NOT trust him giving me surgery. Really bad in communicating and explaining.. if you ask questions he just give quick, annoyed and non informative answers. I also get that there was a pandemic in between, but 4 yearsā€¦ thatā€™s a joke! Would NOT recommendā€¦ if you get transferred here you might as well just leave it or give yourself a surgery (will probably turn out better) I think I could actually go to court with this and would winā€¦ because this does not seem legal and definitely not human at all.

Todayā€™s experience in the hospital has been amazing. I felt overwhelmed by the kindness, patience and professionalism Iā€™ve experience here. I felt reassured all the time and the specialists have been very helpful in explained everything about the procedure (the anaesthetist has been explaining everything to me and I felt reassured, the same as the surgeon, alongside with the assistants). Iā€™ve been given privacy before and after the surgery and I greatly appreciated it. Lucy, has been simply amazing. Sheā€™s been so kind, reassuring and helpful. She made me feel safe and looked after in a such a lovely way. She made my day and Iā€™ll always remember her!

Had an MRI about 8 weeks ago.. No results communicated to me yet. I call the hospital every day in the morning, no one picks it up. The rare moment they pick up, I explain that I want to know results and understand what are the next steps, they transfer me to Imaging Department, where no one again picks up a phone again, voice message service kicks in, I leave the message explaining what I need, they promise to call back and it never happens. I have never seen such unresponsive approach and it's really sad to pay that amount of money for this service.

Sadly is the worst hospital I am having to deal with at the moment. I was trying for an appointment earlier this year that took months to be placed, and then closer to the date they rescheduled for a couple months later. Finally after the appointment I had to be booked for an MRI. For my results they cancelled the appointment within 1 hour of the time that was supposed to happen! Days after, I receive a passive aggressive call on how I donā€™t answer their call, which I never knew that they called me. All I imagine is that they were calling with private ID caller which I would never imagine it was from the hospital, otherwise Iā€™d definitely pick up. I just wouldnā€™t expect a hospital to do that so I never bothered accepting the calls. But considering during all this year I never managed to get in touch with them all the time I call, itā€™s clever from them to hide the phone numbers that they can actually be reachable. Itā€™s literally going for nearly 1 year and I never managed to get in touch with them by phone until today. Which they were absolutely rude. I also suffer from anxiety and to be on a call dealing with very bad unempathetic costumer service was certainly not good for me. The reason of my call today was because months ago the doctor told me my MRI results, saying he would refer me to someone else which Iā€™d need a surgery, and therefore I didnā€™t need to take any actions as he was doing everything already and I didnā€™t even need to deal with him anymore (his words). After more than one month with no update and not managing to get in touch by phone, I decided going to the hospital in person to check what was happening, which no one there knew what happened to my case, so they said they were going to contact my doctor to check and then contact me within 1 week to update. Itā€™s going for 5 months now and I still donā€™t know what itā€™s going on. After the call today I still donā€™t know whatā€™s happening and itā€™s really frustrating. On top of that, on the first months the hospital kept sending sensitive information about my health to the wrong address, which I only found out a few months after by someone. I just really hope all this miscommunication is not due to the same thing happening!

Awful service, took over 45 mins for a blood test as the staff were just chatting behind the counter. The place wasn't even busy. Staff were incredibly rude too. Better off using the NHS. Avoid at all costs.

Not sure why but the phone line keeps forwarding to voicemail. Had consultation, awaiting for a surgery date but no news of that yet, need to inform my work place as currently on restricted duties...

Worse experience ever the way they have hounded my mother by passing on her details to debt collection agency. My mum doesnā€™t speak English she went in for one treatment and they ended up doing 3! Without giving her any pricing or explaining things they then charged over Ā£1300 for everything! My mum even offered to send back the heart monitor after finding out but they said no you donā€™t have to do that but now are charging an extortion amount for it. My mum has a clinic on her street and gets blood tests for free. This company charged her over Ā£250 without inform her! They also cheekily took her card details at the outset without saying it was to take fees which they donā€™t tell you how much it is! They debited her card for Ā£1300! Luckily the bank helped and reversed it. They even made me come in for a meeting and promised me they would sort this out but nothing came from it they wasted several hours making me come in. Even the manager at this meeting said what went on ā€œwasnā€™t rightā€. And how they donā€™t tell you prices isnā€™t right. You wouldnā€™t expect to go in a supermarket and find out the prices after you buy something but these guys think they are law above themselves. They even are not adhering to there own complaints procedure! We complied with every step of the complaints process. They rushed into making the debt company chase us. And then when I told them we are still going through complaints process they made a excuse and said the reason we didnā€™t get a response because we ā€œwe didnā€™t make it clear what our complaint that we wanted escalating wasā€. What a joke! They canā€™t get away with this. If this goes further then we will be pursing a data protection and gdpr breach for how they used my mothers bank card to take money and we will also be writing to the health secretary and MP with how aggressively they are chasing my mother and not even allowing the complaints process to go ahead in the proper way.

I had an appointment at 7am, ward doesn't open until 7.30am, the doctor starts at 8.30am. I needed a injection in my joint that took maybe 15mins. I was not seen until 11am. Half a day wasted just waiting on a bed which could have been used for more needy urgent patient then me. All I heard from nurses they are aware and I should leave a Google review. Here you go! When I had the same procedure in the Royal London, the appointment took max 30mins in total NOT half a day for a simple procedure. I did expect better from a private company. Try calling the telephone number and getting through. IMPOSSIBLE???! The NHS seems to offer a better service. Consultant advised me I would get another appointment for my other shoulder still waiting?? Can't call anyone as no one answers the phone lines.

I think at one point while I was recovering in my room, I could hear what seemed like a lot of voices. I felt there was too much noise for me when I just wanted some quiet and rest. The nurse that came in advised me what was normal after having a general anaesthetic which was fine as it was good to know what i would feel after my surgery. But I did feel like there was more than one nurse in the room who didn't really need to be there which just added to the noise level. Otherwise the staff who took care of me were really great and caring. They were very understanding, friendly, and genuinely caring and gentle. Food was actually quite good for a hospital, especially the porridge and macaroni cheese.

The overall experience was good as a private patient. The lady in the ultra sound department was ever so helpful and nice. The nurses was nice and cheerful. However the Scottish sounded guy on the phone for first point of contact was absolutely awful. He just kept repeating his words regardless your question, in the end he gave me a loud laugh for no reason on the phone. Never seen such an unprofessional staff before. Be warned about him picking up your call.

Echoing what the previous review from Lisa. I tried to attend my appointment today and was turned away by reception because I had my baby with me. The receptionist said it was because of covid and expected me to be able to find childcare in the ten minutes before my appointment started. She got another person to also speak to me to say the same thing. She didnt mention anythingto do with insurance and both said I would have to rearrange regardless of turning up to my appointment. I had to get my neighbour to watch my baby as I dont have family around. One of the outpatient receptionists say itā€™s actually because of insurance reasons and that they dont have a paediatric care. The hospital is happy to rearrange the appointment while they will be paid for the missed appointment. Very poor management as I have never heard of such a rule at any of the other private clinics. The doctor I was seen by said he has seen plenty or prams come in. Please note a baby in a pram has nothing to do with the spread of covid. While other hospitals are allowing children in and restrictions have lifted over a year ago.

Very nice Consultants and anaesthetists for when I have back injections. Treated me with good care, especially the anaesthetist. He was a kind and reassuring throughout the procedure. The only reason for not a 5 star, the nurse in charge of my care needed a bit more bed care and manners. Also speaking about patients out loud, may not be the best idea. But all in all, it was a very good hospital

The physio team are top notch here! I've been seeing Anna for my hand therapy due to a trapped nerve affecting my piano playing and general mobility. Anna is attentive, friendly, and has helped me progress massively over the past few months. I've had this issue in my hand for several years and have had multiple scans and treatments but this is the first time I've felt any signs of real progress. Appointments are always punctual and I always come away feeling that little bit stronger and more flexible.

I had an excellent experience. Surgery went perfect as planned. Post op care was brilliant from both pain consultants and nursing care. Followed by extremely well designed Physiotherapy. All the Physiotherapist very kind and very supportive. The care package I received is faultless. Thanks to you all.

Iā€™m waiting for information about my surgery for 4 weeks now. No one got in touch with me via letter or phone so I still donā€™t know when my surgery can take place. Iā€™ve been trying to call you ever since to confirm when is the scheduled day but no one picks up the phone within working hours. I canā€™t make the entire way to your hospital to find out appointment date that you failed to deliver to your patient. This is extremely disappointing and I honestly do not know how can you treat your patience with such disrespect and disregards towards their condition. Currently Iā€™m on the phone trying to call you for 45 min. with no response. When I left a message with my number no one called me back. Whatā€™s wrong with you people that patient canā€™t get hold of you to get information about their app meant after a month waiting for the DATE. I donā€™t know know when my surgery can take place...

I suggest you avoid at ALL COSTS. I am a victim of a BOTCHED SURGERY BY DR Karim Kassam. I had a lip reduction and paid Ā£1750 as a university student and my lips are STILL huge. Barely any improvement whatsoever after 5 whole months. The incision lines are STILL very visible on my lips. My lips look deformed and in order to cover up the damage done I HAVE to wear layers of different coloured lipstick. The corner of my lip is poking out and both lips are uneven. When I spoke to DR KARIM KASSAM he said that I would have to pay Ā£800-Ā£900 to get a further lip reduction. I will not. It was his mistake yet I have to pay for it? Makes zero sense. Going for another surgery would be such an inconvenience as I was not able to talk/eat properly for nearly two weeks, missed days off work and don't even get me started on not being able to brush my teeth and the excruciating pain that left my lips bleeding, swollen and looking just flat out disgusting. I don't understand how he removed 8/9mm of tissue yet there IS NO IMPROVEMENT. Don't get me started on how rude and unprofessional the hospital staff were from the lady on the phone to the hospital porter who denied my mum access to the clinic even though the Dr assured my mum that she could come prior to the day of surgery. On the day of surgery she was denied access and made to wait in the lounge for over 4 HOURS (whilst also telling us that surgery time was at 5 only for it to start 3 hours later ), complete waste of her time since she cancelled work that day to assist me for my surgery. Please Please Please if you are thinking of getting cosmetic surgery or any type of surgery AVOID and run. Not worth the money or even service. I wish I had just spent Ā£2500 or more and gone to a fancy clinic in central London where the doctors probably have more experience and clientele. And to TOP all of this off before the cosmetic procedure I was made to complete a covid test and found out 2/3 months later via email that I have to pay for it... Why wasn't I informed beforehand that there was a fee for the covid test? If I was aware I wouldn't have went ahead because there are so many other places that offer free tests! Now I am being bombarded with emails demanding that I pay. I saw other comments from individuals expressing how the hospital cons them out of money by not informing them of additional expenses. Complete and utter sham of a hospital ran by a bunch of backstreet 'doctors'.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to both Michaela and Adam for looking after my mother throughout her treatment last Friday. Adam made my mum feel at ease right from the beginning as he greeted us in reception and took her up to the ward, she expressed how kind and caring he was. Michaela has been fantastic arranging all appointments and constantly keeping us updated through this tough time. She even went the extra mile to check in on my mum before her operation as she was on her own, which weā€™re so grateful for. I cannot thank both of them enough, they really are an asset to the hospital!

Tried to attend my appointment today and was turned away at the door because I had my three month old baby with me. The receptionist said it was because of covid and expected me to be able to find childcare in the ten minutes before my appointment started. Then the manager comes down to say itā€™s actually because of liability reasons. A hospital turned away a mum and baby because they are afraid of being sued. Such a shame and an example of very poor management as I have never heard of such a rule at any of the other private clinics I have been to. Then to top it all off, the doctor I was meant to see phones me and says she has seen plenty of patients coming in with prams in the past.

I went to have my first cataract surgery this week. My consultant was Mr. Mark Hulbert. All staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient in all respects. My surgery was completed as an NHS patient. I would thoroughly recommend the service at the BMI London Independent hospital. Mr. Hulbert really knows his game and I feel absolutely confident under his care. If you are lucky enough to be referred to this hospital by your GP, make sure you take it!

I had the pleasure of being operated on by Mr Millington and his team for my second ACL reconstruction. They did an incredible job and the staff made my stay very comfortable indeed. My first ACL surgery was managed at a different hospital and knee specialist. Having had two ACL surgeries, I can compare, and I certainly feel the difference this time around. Post surgery, there has been no drop off in expertise and professionalism. My physio Alberto Valdivielso has been on the ball, pushing me to recover in impressive time. Thank you to everyone at the London Independent.

My operation went very smoothly and I am safely back home. I give my heartfelt thanks to the surgical team (surgeon Ms Pati, Dr Rane the anaesthetist and colleagues) for doing my operation with such skill and professionalism ā€“ and for providing calm reassurance throughout. The whole team in theatre inspired great confidence and the same goes for the nurses in the recovery room who took care of me as well. I stayed overnight and all the staff at the Nurse Base looked after me very well and made my stay extremely comfortable - and the food was very good too!

I was looking for someone to help me for the last 10 years , after a filler injection went horribly wrong, my lips became seriously fibrated and big , It completely destroyed my lips and face , my lips became like a goat lips , it was horrible and ugly , I found the hospital at the point when I was so desperate and hopeless, Dr Karim KASSAM was able to help me ,he took out the filling and the fibrated tissue , I became able to look at my face in the mirror again . when every other clinic gave me a ridiculously expensive price, Dr Kassam helped me with a very reasonable and acceptable price that I was able to afford. Will always be grateful and thankful to Dr KASSAM and his team , thank you all...

When I first contacted the bmi London independent hospital, I spoke to a lovely and helpful girl named Michaela. At this particular time, I had no quality of life as I couldnā€™t walk and was confined to a wheelchair. She helped me in every way possible with reassurance and kindness. I will be forever grateful to her. On the day if admission, there was maintenance work being carried out and I wasnā€™t happy with the drilling noise. The staff changed my room so I should be more comfortable. Without doubt, the nursing staff were terrific and attentive. They made me feel very special and I couldnā€™t fault any of them. They had time to sit and talk with me, help me to the toilet and even share my sweets, I even had flowers, chocolates and wine to compensate for the inconvenience of the drilling. Thumbs up, London Independent, youā€™re top of my list, Elaine Gandz

This hospital is not professional. They have now postponed my surgery twice, without offering a reason why. They have given me another appointment, but I don't trust them to keep it. This is their response: Dear Russell, We are so sorry that your surgery was cancelled twice. We try to avoid cancellations as much as possible and only do so for the safety of our patients. If you would like me to try and find out the reason for this cancellation, please let me know. Best wishes, Birute @ BMI The London Independent Their response is made of excuses. BMI, at least be honest, that I can respect, but you are being unprofessional with your excuses.

I had a total knee replacement at this hospital the 27/01/2022 and spent three days there. I opted for a spinal injection to numb the legs. I must admit I was a bit skeptical at first but it worked out great. Although it might not be the best way to go for everyone. I was wide awake throughout and the surgeon, anaesthetist and all the rest of the surgical team were great. The after care team were superb. I was in room 304. The nurses, physiotherapy , kitchen staff and cleaners were excellent. 10/ 10. I'm writing to the managent also about my experience. The next few months are going to be the hardest, the dreaded physiotherapy. Hard work but there is no escape from this.

I was very nervous about coming here as Iā€™ve never spent any time in hospital but everyone has been so lovely I neednā€™t have worried. The receptionists are friendly and efficient. Then I met Nigel who was doing all my pre op checks and he was so friendly and made me laugh so much I felt instantly relaxed. The consultant popped in to say hello and all the theatre team were great, very upbeat and super efficient. Nurse Reg who did my discharge was lovely and very helpful. The rooms and facilities were top class too. My experience at the London independent has been a pleasure and you canā€™t say that very often when talking about hospital! Well done everyone!

I had one of the best experiences ever in this London hospital. A few weeks ago, I was booked in for surgery, but I decided to cancel this op due to some unforeseen circumstances and personal issues I faced but after the issue was resolved, I emailed the appointments team and asked them to book me in for any cancellations sooner rather than later as they may have had cancellations from other patients. I got a prompt reply back via phone call from a lovely lady and was able to secure a cancelled appointment by another patient. Dr/Consultant Nicholas Marshall was absolutely fantastic even at all my appointments I attended. He was very reassuring as I was nervous about having a hernia procedure done again. Nurse Nigel is such a fun and wonderful guy. He kept me entertained throughout my stay and was so caring, continuously checking up on me and asking me if I needed anything on a regular basis. (I havenā€™t had such positive experiences in other hospitals). And the same goes for Nurse Chechein (sorry about the misspelling) but she was extremely caring, helpful and provided me with advice and hospital materials getting me ready for my op. I canā€™t think of any negative experiences because i was looked after throughout the day. Itā€™s a nice, quiet, little hospital. Not the usual hustle and bustle i have experienced in other London hospitals. Thank you so much for looking after me today

NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE at this place, I would definitely consider another hospital for private surgery. I had a gastric surgery, the surgeon was excellent I choose him my self I ended at this place because it was easier for my wife to collect me. Surgery all went fine but I was in severe pain afterwards for a day. Not all staff were unhelpful or uncaring, the night staff was excellent and very attentive. Day time was fairly difficult. I was not in a great way and was just left from when night staff left until lunchtime. My wife got frustrated a couple of times and especially when she saw me after being left all morning in a bad way. Rather than trying to calm the situation she was going to be asked to leave me if you can believe it. Half dead in the bed. After this I got some attention for half a day. Next day much the same as the previous but luckily I had improved a lot so got to go home thank god. I don't know if it is daytime staffing levels or just general uncaring nurse but when you know someone is in excruciating pain for 2 hours because all they can have is a paracetamol that lasts 4 of the 6 hours you should at least try give it on time. Most of the time I would be suffering an extra hour. Ringing the buzzer felt like it would make her take longer like she had some control issues. Some people are just not meant to be nurses I think. Home now feeling good and ready to put this behind me and move on. As mentioned surgeon Mr Mannur, was excellent I would definitely recommend him.

I just want to say that Dr. Parkes is extremely attentive and professional. He knows English is not my native language, so he made a conscious effort to slow down his speech to ensure I understood what he was saying. Throughout the process, all the nurses and staff at the front desk were also very attentive and friendly. This has been an amazing experience for me, probably the best I've ever had in a hospital.

After being in few physiotherapist I met Alberto. He has been completely outstanding, very suportive and now I can say I am back to sports. I absolutely recommend him, the way he explains the exercises and his hands on treatments has really helped me to recover. I do really appreciate all his hard work and I would definitely call him again in case I need more physio. Thanks Alberto!!

Following hip replacement surgery which was performed by Dr Stephen Millington who was excellent. I had to attend the nurse station because my wound became infected. All the nurses were great however one nurse named Sam stood out she was knowledgeable friendly Efficient and professional with a good sense of humour, The physio Elroy was also great and everything Iā€™ve said about Sam is also true for Elroy it was a pleasure to meet him. Not everything was great however during recovery after op I had to shout for assistance because the bell was left out of reach and the nurses were too busy talking at the nurses station to hear me, I could hear them however . Overall 9 out 10

All experience with your employees is good overall. But the way you management prioritising my situation is a Disaster!! I will try to found my right about this matter To be postponed 5 times for surgery and even 1 second nobody to ask how you feel wich one is you helth condition? To don't make any other scan before surgery . To end up with 2 procedures on my body is not pleasant because of Management!

Good and bad. Felt the surgeon was okay but so busy. Very little aftercare whatsoever. When I came around from surgery the nurse couldn't even tell me if I'd had stitches. I felt like I was just sent home, expected to see the surgeon or be able to talk about post surgery care.

Great experience. In particular, all the staff are kind, competent, and empathetic. Everything happens as scheduled, and if unforseen events occur, they are quick to react and rearrange to limit the impact on patients. I went in for an x-ray, and the Doctor stayed overtime to check it in real time :)

I received physiotherapy sessions with Carolina Santos for approximately 6 months from initial injury to post surgery. Carolina was wonderful to work with as she is professional, knowledgable, friendly and she put me at ease from the first moment I met her. Carolina listened to me and understood my limitations, tailoring the therapy to my pace but encouraging progress. Iā€™m thrilled to be back to normal activities pre injury and thank Carolina for her support in getting to me this position- I thoroughly recommend!

Was seen in November and 3 months later had Shoulder Decompression Surgery. I would have preferred the operation sooner but other than that nothing disappointed. All the staff were kind and helpful and made sure my visit was as smooth, informed and as comfortable as possible. Would love to give a shout out to everyone but given the meds I was on briefly I don't remember most of the names. Having said that, the young nurse treating me directly after the surgery was caring and attentive, something sorely missing in many hospitals (I'm looking at you Homerton) and the nurse looking after me post surgery once I was returned to my room was called Yasmin and she did everything to make me comfortable and relaxed until I left.

This is the complaint email I tried to send this morning. But apparently that email address is not receiving emails. I wonder why. First thing Iā€™ve been messed about so much by this hospital that I have never been treated this way at an NHS hospital. I had a phone call appointment with Mr Khan on the 13th of November 2023 Was told I was going to need HTO surgery and then I would get a call in the next couple of months to sort out dates. Mr Khan also said he would sort out my guided hip injections for pain and will get my diagnosis down in writing as Iā€™m having problems with my PIP application. Someone called me on the 23rd of November 2023. I assume Mr Khan secretary and offered me the 28th of February 2024, which I accepted. She said I would get dates about pre-up closer to the time I waited and thought I would leave it until after Christmas before chasing it up. so after Christmas, I started to call once every week and was told that they had emailed Mr Khan secretary and she wasnā€™t responding to emails even when the emails where marked as urgent still nothing. It wasnā€™t until the 20th of February 2024 that I spoke to wonderful lady at reception called Hayley Goss. She chased everything up called me back and even said she would try to talk to Mr Khan the next day, the 21st of February 2024, as Mr Khan would be in the hospital and she would call me back. I left it on the 21st of February 2024 to see if sheā€™d managed to get anything done. And I called Hayley back on the 22nd of February 2024 bearing in mind, this is less than a week till the operation, so I had people book holiday to look after me and had them cancel it because it looked like I wasnā€™t going to be having the surgery. With it be in less than a week away? And the fact that all emails have been ignored when I spoke to Hayley on the 23rd of February 2024, to see if she had managed to speak to Mr Khan and find out what was happening. Hayley said that she hadnā€™t managed to talk to him, and as far as her and her other members of staff tried, they hadnā€™t found nothing out. So I asked Hayley if she could book me an appointment with Mr Khan so we could sort out when the operation was going to happen. She agreed and went in to book the appointment for me only to find that my operation has been booked in and nobody had called to tell me. This treatment is just disgusting not knowing if youā€™re coming or going all the time and having to call constantly to find out what is happening. So I went ahead with the date came in on Monday, the 26th of February 2024, to have my pre-op called back to the hospital all the following day as needed more bloods taken and came in for my operation on the 28th of February 2024 on time after fasting, Iā€™m doing everything I was asked to do. So just the three days of coming down to the hospital cost me Ā£70 in petrol and over Ā£30 in parking. Iā€™ve got to the hospital on the 26th of February 2004 after spending the last five days, rushing around to get everything ready because I also care for my mum so had to sort out multiple things and sort out someone to help me for the first week after surgery. I had the nurses come in to settle me in the Physio came in to sort things out with me, and then the anaesthetist came in about 12:30. As he was trying to find me on the list, he said youā€™re the last one of the day see you in the morning which I thought was strange, but I thought well if I donā€™t get it done today, Iā€™ll be down in the morning and we I was the last one of the day. He said it would be at least five hours until I went down for surgery, so I told my partner to go home because I probably wouldnā€™t be back to my room till late so thereā€™s no point in him waiting. when he left, I fell asleep as I sometimes get tired due to me having fibromyalgia. Iā€™ve got woken up around 4 pm buy two of Mr canā€™t seem to be told my surgery had been cancelled due to the anaesthetist being late and the fire alarm has gone off earlier during the day so everything now was running late. This is some of the email. Basically would avoid at all cost.

I was made to feel so relaxed before i went to theatre which could really help an anxious patient. I have just had a total knee replacement done at this hospital and was quite worried about catching COVID-19 or some other hospital-acquired microbe. I needn't have worried the hospital staff were excellent and very professional throughout. The equipment and rooms were cleaned regularly. The surgeon and anesthetist were excellent in planning out my surgery and talked me through the whole procedure. After surgery, I was transferred to the intensive care unit for one night due to an underlying condition. The care I received in this unit was exemplary; the young chap from Italy called Marius was extremely kind, and nothing was too much trouble for him. I was then transferred up to the wards on the 3rd floor, and again excellent treatment from the nurses, kitchen staff and physiotherapists who all made my stay a pleasant one. The staff are from all parts of the world, and we are lucky to have so many people from so many different lands to look after us. I can't thank them enough. I can thoroughly recommend this hospital from first-hand experience. Stephen Durr

My carer and I attended the hospital for me as an outpatient and for day surgery. Everyone -- from the lead porter Adam, the consultant and surgeon Mr Patel to discharge nurse Sinead -- was professional and personable. I have autism, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression, and I get very nervous in healthcare settings. But my experience at this centre of excellence was of outstanding care and support, and I am very grateful.

My review is only based on having a simple outpatients procedure, but it was an excellent experience. The nurse doing the procedure was very friendly and superb at her job and I was in an out very quickly which is especially appreciated in these times. Knocked one star off for the covid controls at entrance (too crampt for social distancing on arrival) could be better and has been the worst of the three hospitals I've been too and could be improved

Iā€™m an NHS patient. In 2017 I had quiet a horrific experience at a another hospital that it left me quiet traumatised. I was scared to any attend any medical appointment since then. I had an appointment at this hospital and I was feeling so nervous about it. But as soon as l met Mr Oak - gynaecologist (twice) his kindest and empathy had automatically made me feel really safe and at ease. I had cried and explained why I was so nervous and his kindness and understanding made me feel at ease. For the first time attending an appointment I felt relaxed and assured all will be well. Thank you!

I have just undergone cataract surgery at the BMI London Independent Hospital. I was treated by Dr Mark Hulbert and his team and I cannot speak highly enough of the treatment I received throughout the process. This was clearly and courteously explained to me by Dr Hulbert. This was a privately paid for procedure with special lenses and has fully restored my sight. The surgery was performed with the least possible discomfort and within a few days of using the eye-drops provided I had amazing clarity of vision. The cost of the procedure will save me the cost of buying increasingly expensive pairs of spectacles every year. The whole experience was amazing and I am extremely grateful to everyone involved in my treatment but especially Dr Hulbert.

I saw Dr Parkes for a gastro consultation and he was amazing, explained everything so well and was so attentive to detail and always listened and answered any questions I had, he is also so lovely. I also had a gastroscopy and an US (with Dr Jaffer, who was brilliant) and all the nurses and Dr Parkes were amazing during it, I felt so comfortable and felt very well looked after and did not feel anxious at all, the whole process was really easy and everyone in the hospital was so nice. Would highly recommend!

The orthopaedic consultant who saw me walked out of my appointment 5 mins in and left me in the room for 20 mins to do something that was clearly not related to my issue. This should have been a sign of the level of care to come! After a MRI, X-ray and ultrasound on my knee he told my to take some glucosamine tablets and do some leg exercises and discharged me (I could have come to that conclusion after a 5 min google search!), even though they couldn't determine the root issue of my problem. He seemed more interested in getting me out the door then actually trying to treat me (probable because I was an NHS patient and not a private one - but if that's how you want to treat NHS patients don't take them on!). My knee has got worse since I was discharged but luckly I now have healthcare cover via my employer so can go to a better private hospital. This is easily the worst experience with healthcare I've had. Avoid like the plague!

I had problems from a previous Operation (elsewhere) and was told that Mr V. Gulati would be the best person to see for a Hip replacement. Had a Consultation and then the Operation was booked. The Operation was carried out on the 8th July this year and went well and was a complete success. It was thanks not only to Mr Gulati who was brilliant but also the Admin and Support Team at the BMI Hospital. From the moment I went in until the moment I left I could not have asked for better care and treatment. I always say that "the proof is in the pudding", within 8 weeks I had stopped using the crutches, so a big thank you to all concerned. 10 out of 10 :-)

I was delighted to meet and speak with Ms Debjani Mukhopadhyay. As an emigrant, its very important for me to be treated the way Ms Mukhopadhyay did it, namely explaining me in clear, plain English about my condition and the necessary procedures to be undertaken, being proactive, asking specific details concerning my medical record and empathizing with me. I went to Dr. Karim Kassam as I had experienced a jaw pain for a long time. He listened to all my complaints, accurately assessed my condition, expressed his point of view on the treatment and explained to me some of the questions that I had for the prescribed treatment. Also after the injection, which the doctor himself gave me, I was surrounded by attention regarding my condition, which was nice - it is clear that the doctor cares about the patient and not about money or time. Personally, I would give a doctor 5 stars directly if I could. BMI Hospital locates right near the tube station and all people that I contacted there were really nice and helpful. But every time when I need to contact this hospital on phone - I chat with a robot system most of the time and at 3-d time it started to be really frustrating and too long. Especially when they began to transfer me to another department (every time the same one, where i have to listen robot again and again) in a circle three times in a row. Also two times I had to check authorisation number from my insurance company and my email on the reception because two times it was spelled wrong, and both times I told person on reception about it.It seems they didnt change it, so I was always check this information with Dr. Kassam just in case. Another problem was when I make an appointment to Dr. Karim Kassam to make an injection without telling him it before. So when I came I had to wait for an appointment for about an hour because the doctor had to make a request to issue a liquid for my injection and I simply wait all the time while it was delivered to doctor. It was really strange for me because I thought reception should manage those things for the doctor, or at least warn him that a patient will come who will need to do an injection, so he can manage to request everything before. But as I dont really know how things work in that hospital - I cant comment it any further. As I always said: I would always recommend the specialist and never the whole clinic/hospitals because in one building there can be 50% great doctors and 50% bad, but if you connect first time with a bad one - you can reject/ignore all good ones at the same clinic/hospital because of your first-one bad experience.

Completely positive experience from beginning to end at the BMI London Independent Hospital in Stepney for my open septorhinoplasty operation in Sept 2020. For each of the 3 pre-op appointments I waited only a short period of time before being seen and on the day of the actual operation I felt like a priority and everyone was extremely polite and professional. I stayed overnight and the attention and concern from all of the staff was really first class. Both the eventual procedure, (see below my separate review of Mr Kassam who carried that out), and the after-care really couldn't have been any better. I would wholeheartedly recommend both Mr Kassam and the BMI to anyone without hesitation. 'I had my consultation with Mr Kassam in early August and was immediately impressed and persuaded that he was the surgeon to carry out my open septorhinoplasty due to his obvious and genuine enthusiasm, experience and breadth of knowledge on the subject. Whilst initially investigating this type of procedure I had consultations with 4 other surgeons but had no doubt whatsoever that in both relative and absolute terms Mr Kassam was the correct and only choice. I am writing this review less than 168 hours after the surgery even began. The care and dedication Mr Kassam took in explaining to me everything I needed and wanted to know throughout the intervening period between my initial consultation and last weekā€™s surgery transferred and extended into the operation itself. During the procedure he spent additional time to get everything correct and the result was I had very little bruising, no pain whatsoever and this morning when I had my splint removed I was nothing short of thrilled to see my new nose for the first time. Prior to the surgery I had sent Mr Kassam a photo-shopped image of how I wanted my nose to look and he has replicated it exactly. For my nose to look as great as it does, so soon after a 4 hour operation, seems to me to be nothing short of miraculous. I cannot recommend Mr Kassam highly enough and have no doubt whatsoever whether it is rhinoplasty, or any other surgery which Mr Kassam undertakes for you, that you will be in the safest and most skilled hands possible.'

I would give Dr. Aftab and Dr. Norman 6 Stars for their professionalism, knowledge and the fact that they were able to help me. However, the admin staff who book you in, send you emails and try to get things sorted need a lot of work. I was given the wrong information a few times. I was even given the wrong time for my surgery. If I had not doubled checked myself, I would have missed it. If you have back/disc problems find a way to see Dr. Aftab as he is very good. Came today (Sept 28) for a follow up (2 weeks after operation), the admin staff again got my information wrong and had the wrong appointment time. I can't imagine how difficult this must be on patients and doctors. I really hope the hospital looks into this.

I was admitted here twice recently as an NHS patient. I was treated well by the medical staff and nurses, which I am grateful for. However the LIH's communication/admin processes were extremely poor and caused much confusion and stress. For example, the afternoon before one scheduled admission I had still not received any time/admission instructions and was being told my name could not even be found on the surgery list. The weekend telephone switchboard staff are rude. Finally, both times I visited there was almost continuous loud drilling work taking place at the hospital for several hours - the last thing you want to hear when you've just had surgery. If I had paid directly myself to be a private patient at LIH, I would be extremely disappointed.

The only reason I am giving 1 star is because you can't choose any less. I've been a patient of Dr Ali Noorani for over few years now and literally been trying to chase up and down the country for a torn rotator cuff, he already knew my situation and had me go up and down the country to several different locations for an mri scan and numerous consultations to confirm I've had a torn rotator cuff and it needed operating on. Still after years no luck try ringing them on countless occasions to still expect a callback as they keep saying but they don't. These people are fraudsters they have no care for health and they're arrogance stinks and its a 1 to be really disrespected. I have now lost all hope from here and looking to go international to get my problem dealt with. These people deserve no business they're useless.

I have been a patient of this hospital for over 30 years and today I have tried to cancel an outpatient appointment but the mailbox is full. I then tried switchboard to leave a message for outpatients cancelling my appointment but was asked for my nhs number which info didnā€™t have and was rudely spoken to by Helen Compton and told she couldnā€™t help without it and cut me off. I called back to speak to administrator or manager and was told they are not there today and again rudely spoken to by Helen Compton telling me they are short staffed and she is the only operator. This is not the first time I have had problems getting through to the hospital. Iā€™m my opinion this hospital and gone rapidly down hill.

However booking appointments with Dr, physio as well as outpatient has been an absolute chaos. wrong dates sent, confirmations sent for other dates than confirmed, endless waiting times on phone centers. Very disappointing. Sounds like "departments" dont talk to each other either. Quite stressful for a patient to try and manage all this. Fix please.

Dear Mr Gulati, I am writing on behalf of Barbara's whole family to thank you for the care you have shown my wife. Barbara has made good progress with pain control and physio and is coping well, thanks to our GP alerting the IIT at Homerton after the excellent nursing care she received in the LIH. She is determined to be as fit as possible when she hopes to see your team again later on in the year. She wishes to mention in particular how different this experience of anaesthesia and recovery was from previous operations as it was so much better. Yours gratefully, Eddy O'Brien.

I am pretty happy with my overall experience with BMI independent hospital from the booking of appointment to consultation with doctor. I was consulted by Dr. Vivek Gulati. He listened my problem patiently and then explained me about cause of the problem and possible treatment. He has answered all my questions and referred me for further treatment. I would like to thank Dr. Vivek Gulati & BMI independent hospital for their professional gesture.

Absolutely horrible. Its been 5 weeks and i havent gotten through to make another appointment. Nhs patients are still patients at the end of the day, i dont understand how receptionists can pick up when its for a ā€œprivate patientā€ but when its NHS they transfer me and no one picks up. Absolutely fustrating and horrible because at the end of the day im still suffering and not getting a service I need

Can't get through to ANYONE and I have been trying for two weeks to book an urgent MRI. This is worse than the NHS. When you do manage to speak with someone, they give you the run around and tell you your scan will take a long time so they can't find you an appointment. When they do give you an appointment, then then cancel it the night before.

Had an absolutely great experience with this hospital. I had a small surgery and had to go quite often to get my dressing changed and the nursing staff were so helpful working appointments around my busy schedule and took great care of my wound. Big shout out to Alba and Nora in the nursing staff and Dr Bull who did the surgery.

Had my surgery yesterday at the London BMI. Dr Khakha and Dr Willson where outstanding through the process and I cant thank them enough. Physios Sania and Claire where lovely, caring and very helpful also. Couldn't remember every name but the night shift team was great. :)

The wait times at this hospital are ridiculous. If you can get into your appointment in under an hour, consider yourself lucky. Avoid if you have a job and can't afford to sit around for hours during the weekday. The staff are super unhelpful as well. "We can't do anything about it so you just have to wait" is your standard answer. Great customer service. ha.

I dealt with a lovely woman from the imaging department called Fatimah regarding an MRI scan. I told her my issue I was experiencing and she was nothing but extremely helpful, I literally couldnā€™t of asked for anyone better to of picked up the phone. Her customer service was professional and she dealt with my situation very efficiently. If it wasnā€™t for Fatimah I would be waiting 7months for my MRI scan, but she managed to find me a cancellation and get me seen the same day. Very happy with the service even the two staff that done my MRI scan were very kind and professional couldnā€™t of asked for a better team. Leaving a very happy patient šŸ˜Š

I have recently undergone surgery on my Achilles at the BMI Clementine, however before the op I needed my bloods and covid test done. Living a lot closer to the independent It was a lot easier to get it done here. What I thought would be an easy ask, turned out to be more difficult & time consuming to arrange, which was very frustrating. However when Leigh Brame, (not sure of job title) got involved, she sorted this out straight away, was apologetic and was extremely friendly & profession. I had a very pleasant experience when I got the tests done the nurse was excellent (not sure of name sorry!) Thanks to all involved

What a great hospital, the staff were absolutely brilliant! They were very supportive, informative and caring. How they put up with some of the behaviour of patients here is superhuman! Big thankyou to Dr Khan for my surgery, nurse Daniella and physios Alina and Faye, who looked after me expertly. Apologies to the other staff not mentioned here as you were all great, thank you to all!!! All the Best

Got a text message 2 hours before my appointment to say its cancelled. Now things happen in life where there have to be cancellations at short notice. However the department contacted the booking office to let patients know the appointment has been cancelled the day before. But the booking office called saying the appointment has been moved by 2 hours not cancelled. If the department didn't text me I wouldn't know. But by then I had made child care arrangements and booked leave. Operation rearranged a week later and cancelled again 2 hours after getting a call saying its going ahead, the day before the procedure. If I could give minus ratings that would be a true indication of the service. 0 regards for patients

6 days ago I had a full hip replacement done at the London Independent hospital. From the beginning to the end the care and attention was great. My surgeon Mr Dawson-Bowling is a model professional and installs certainty and confidence. A big thank yo to all the nurses, catering and physios especially Hafsa, they are all lovely amazing people. Iā€™m healing great and looking forward to a pain free future - Thank you

I had an excellent experience at the London Independent Hospital and would highly recommend them ! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was very good too. Thanks to all teams - Nursing / Physio and Kitchen ! Would suggest that breakfast is served earlier as 9.30am was late when lunch is at 1.30pm and dinner then at 5.00pm suggest moving breakfast and lunch to an hour earlier if possible for a better customer experience

The physio team at this hospital, are of the best quality. I have seen Anna recently, who is a hand therapist, for some emergency care. She treated me many years ago, successful and amazing support in helping me to gain the full use of my wrist. As a professional musician, her support both professionally and psychologically, was crucial to my rehabilitation. Thank you so much!

Faultless experience over last 20 months. Started with scans, diagnosis, operation, follow up physio and more imaging. Brilliant and wonderful treatment from (in no particular order) Prof. Maffulli (fantastic surgeon) Consultant Otto Chan (fantastic radiologist) and physios (initially) Romain and (presently) Carolina. All of them have be so so helpful, caring, informative and most importantly, great at their jobs. I love to know what's going on with my treatment and procedures and they have been so good and patient explaining everything to me and answering my many questions. Spent most of my appointment hours in recent few months with physio Carolina who has been incredibly helpful and considerate going "the extra mile" and of course excellent at her work. Can I also make special mention of the receptionist in Imaging called Raj who quite simply is a wonderful lady, so calm and helpful and always smiling, efficiently carrying out her duties as an unsung heroine!

My time here was short but I just had to leave a review for John (MRI department) who took such good care of me and understood my religious background to cater to my requirements. He went above and beyond to make sure I was fully covered during my MRI as a Muslim woman. And Dr Jones was really helpful throughout my treatment. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the MRI reception staff came off a little cold when dealing with me as I was wearing a face veil and sensed a little judgement from them

My wife Gillian, had a complex knee replacement and was reluctant to go to London due to the travel. However she is totally delighted at the professionalism of the Staff, Doctors and Physiotherapists. The operation was a total success and the care in the ward was excellent. The follow up Physiotherapy was brilliant and she is now walking unadded and on her way to a full recovery and life after just six weeks. We would both recommend this hospital and it has restored my wife's future to a normal life.

The procedure cased me considerable amounts of pain even under local anesthetic. I arrived on time to be sent to two different areas which were inaccurate. When the doctors saw me he told me I was late for the procedure and he would not be able to complete the full procedure on the day and I would need to rebook the final arm injections. He told me to go reception and rebook for the next two weeks. The receptionist said they had no booking until the end of September which was two month apart. I feel the hospital has become unorganised over the years as I first had my procedure in 2013 which was 10 years ago. Really can not believe how poor the service has become.

Alberto from the physiotherapy team has assisted me immensely after my ACL surgery. Not only physically, but mentally, with a positive outlook now towards fitness and recovery. Dr Kostas has restored my independence and longevity in my physically active profession. My recovery time has been outstanding. I would highly recommend this team for ortho procedures. The hospital itself is lovely. Their patient centred approach is what I appreciate the most, with all staff striving for this.

It's has been a wonderful experience. The hand therapist Anna has magic hands. Very patient, understanding dedicated, focused and above all she knows what she is doing. From the first session there was a remarkable improvement from the pains I have been experiencing. Never thought I will be this good with the fingers and arm. In general the whole staff are all polite and can't say anything bad about my experience. Will always jump for joy if I get a referral there again. Keep the good work going please.

Anna Adamson the hand therapist was fantastic. She has very gentle (but strong) hands, and most importantly she gave me advice on what to expect and how I could support me own recovery. Education is so important. A top professional who utilises all the latest techniques.

Thank you all for making me feel welcome, at ease and felt like i was in the best care.

Upon my arrival, the receptionist informed me to wait in the patient lounge, which I did patiently for 45 minutes. I acknowledge that I was late by 15 minutes due to getting lost, but the receptionist assured me it was not an issue. However, when I inquired about the status of my appointment, I was shocked to learn that the practitioner had already left. The receptionist admitted fault for not checking whether the practitioner had left and assured me that my appointment would be rearranged for the following Monday. Regrettably, despite this assurance, I have yet to receive any communication regarding the rescheduled appointment. To add to my frustration, my attempts to contact the hospital's hotline since this morning have been in vain. Numerous calls have gone unanswered or failed to connect. This lack of responsiveness has only compounded my dissatisfaction and raised serious concerns about the level of customer service at London Independent Hospital

THIS PLACE HAS COMPLETELY SCAMMED ME AND REFUSES TO ANSWER A SINGLE EMAIL TO THEIR COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT. As an immigrant to the UK, I am very new to how health services here work and was not aware that when I booked an appointment for a coil replacement through Patient Access (a portal mostly for booking NHS services) that my appointment here would not be covered by the NHS. When I arrived for my appointment and the doctor explained that the procedure would cost a lot without private health insurance, I said I would not go through with it. However she said we could do a smear test instead which would only cost Ā£45. I was due for a smear test anyways so I agreed. Not only did the hospital NEVER send me the results of that incredibly invasive and painful test, I then received a bill in the mail from them for a whopping Ā£650!! Plus Ā£350 for the ā€œspecialist feeā€ and then the aforementioned Ā£45 that I was misled to believe was the cost of the whole procedure. I emailed their complaints department twice and received NO ANSWER. I called twice and the first time they said they would get back to me and did not. The second time I called they said they had done an ā€œinvestigationā€ and found me liable, despite never communicating anything about the investigation to me via email, phone, or post. I asked for, at the very least, an itemized list of the charges so that I could understand the cost of the bill. Again, nothing. Last week I got a letter in the mail saying that their collections agency was going to take legal action because the debt was not paid. As a young immigrant woman, I feel deeply taken advantage of by this hospitalā€™s doctors and administrative staff. Ā£650 for a test whose results were NEVER SENT ME. This is incredibly exploitative and breaks UK laws on informed consent, as well as basic medical ethics of transparency. Edit: in case you are all wondering, it has been two weeks since they replied to this saying theyā€™d reach out and they have not šŸ‘ hilariously bad customer service

I had an appointment an itā€™s been exactly nearly 6 weeks and I havenā€™t heard nothing back for a follow up appointment. I am constantly ringing and no one is available to answer your call, all it does is give you an option to leave a message which they never listen to because no one gets back to me. I havenā€™t had a good experience at all. Posted today March 1st 2024 Just an update I still havenā€™t received a letter in the post after I was told it will be sent about a follow up appointment. I had an appointment in December and still have not had a follow up appointment itā€™s absolutely ridiculous how this hospital treats people. I am still so concerned about my condition which I still donā€™t have answers on. I was told someone will call me about a camera produce being doneā€¦ā€¦nothing still to this day. The hospital sent a report back to my GP but not me and in that letter was a lot of lies, the doctors never told half the things I read. Itā€™s so disgusting how the hospital treats NHS patients, just because we do not pay private doesnā€™t mean we should be treated this way its absolutely disgusting.

In the room i was provided the air conditioning was broken. This meant it got hot and uncomfortable at night. Apart from this the service was very good. Other thing to note was the nurses asked me to urine in pot so they could measure. The nurses then didnt come measure or dispose of the urine, it remained in the toilet for 24 hours. This is potentially dangerous as could lead to infection etc.
