😠 5 weeks (and counting) with no hot water. I’m surprised they get away with such a poor standard. The changing rooms are absolutely disgusting. Not cleaned properly and the place stinks. Great gym, quiet and barely gets busy and most of stuff very friendly, except receptionist called VIOLET who has been extremely rude on few occasions and has no customer service skills at all. She needs to definitely learn how to smile and talk to people politely , otherwise she has no job there. It is a shame that only one person can spoil the overall experience of a rather great gym. I hope my remarks are taken into consideration and VIOLET learns that world does not spin around her. Thank you

No hot water in the showers for a couple of months now. Each time i called to check contractor is on site cannot confirm if its going to be fixed. Not to mention serious cleanliness issues at the Chingford Branch to & this branch. Better gyms out there avoid the Bannatyne group.

I have been a member since Feberuary 2016, and yesterday cancelled my membership. The facilities are decent (although no superior to "The Gym" down the road) and the staff are nice, but I left for the following: - They evidently treat their staff poorly, and there has been a high turnover of great staff members in the past 6-8 months - They raised my membership from Β£26pm to Β£44pm. They did this on the 1st of the month, so that I had no option but to pay it for the next month. Very sneaky and deceitful. Th

This gym is revolting. Every morning I have to rinse the squirming worms off the shower floor before I take a shower. They obviously don’t clean the floors properly or regularly enough. Guarantee there is at least ten worms every morning. The staff have a real attitude problem too, with β€˜computer says no’ attitude. Also the β€˜refurb’ which they used to justify their 200% price hike, was just a lick of paint and dusty, old second-hand equipment. On top of all this, they’ve had no hot water for ONE MONTH, which is unacceptable. The management here is poor.

Good side gym, good range of free weights and machines to use. also the swimming pools a good size too. also has jacuzzi and sauna on-site.

I was lured in by the free trial and relatively low price. However, I soon discovered the little black worms in the men's showers. What's worse, the steam room seat collects liquid into a puddle so you find yourself sitting in someone else's sweat. A bad smell permeates much of the place and the floor feels dirty underfoot. Suffice to say I will not be signing up.

I was a member here for 1.5 years. I cancelled my subscription because I'm moving abroad. pros: - easy subscription - there is a small pool, bubble bath, sauna and steam room, in addition to good cardio and weight training sections - easy access with wristband and lockers available - reasonably priced - usually not too busy cons: - Staff attitude is very mixed, half are friendly, the other half can be rude and unhelpful. Different people were especially rude when I cancelled my subscription. - The heated pool is often not heated. The spa has frequent breakdowns. - Everything was refurbished over the summer (limiting access without compensation), but you can already see breakdown and rapid of deterioration of the refurbishments. For example broken lockers, rusting shower doors and broken off soap dispensers. - The male showers are not clean, it sometimes smells of urine or poo, and there is fungus on the walls an ceiling. - The contract terms state that there is a one month cancellation period, which was explained to me and I accepted. The benefit to me was that in that extra month I could use the gym. However contrary to what I was told the subscription was cancelled within 2 weeks. This is confusing. Summary: Mixed feeling but overall negative; it seems to deteriorate in terms of staff and general state. I would try my luck somewhere else if I had to pick a gym today.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had at at a gym. For almost 3 months of my membership, the showers never had any hot water running and when I queried this, there was no clarity on when it would be resolved. The state of the locker rooms was also lackluster, most of the times finding lockers broken or missing the door. I have recently cancelled my membership but the cancellation process was painful, I received no confirmation of my notice to cancel for almost 2 weeks and had to call the head office to confirm the cancellation. I am now being asked to pay an extra months membership for not providing sufficient notice. This gym focusses on getting away with the bare minimum and even then it falls short, I would not recommend Bannatyne to any gym goer.

Not good, no spin classes in the evening.. very dirty you have to pay for the towels...never no soap in the showers and they are always cold hot water does not exist here. The jacuzzi never work and when it does it's freezing cold. Lockers broken into on a regular basis.

Into 3rd week with no hot water. Coupled with a superficial refurb of changing rooms (which are already falling apart) impression is of a business that really doesn’t care.

Situation with hygiene always the same in particular steam room which is rather small.... beleaguered zero hour contract staff do their best but given poor cleaning materials and equipment. it is alleged HQ pay suppliers maintenence contractors late that's why repairs are slow and done cheaply. .. has improved on General equipment thoughout after years of under investment... However, Bannatyne gym has been underhanded by putting prices up for some upto 40%.. 150 people cancelled membership in 3 days from 1st Dec 2018 I will be doing the same due to the following reasons: - general hygiene has got worse. -maintenance and electrical regulations not adhered to regarding spin dryer. - mould on ceilings - rust on water fountain. - broke tiles. - Sharpe edges in steam room. - soap dispensers missing in shower cubicles. -Sauna room old wooden frame coming away from door frame -Pool users often get rashes from pool due to chlorine levels.. They had been thefts from magnetic lockers which were ignored. Staff refused to wait for the police at closing as they would not be paid.. a few of the victims alleged "it was an inside job using a master bracelet to open the locker.. they tried to blame a homeless man" not a great advert for the company.... Note I have 13 photos to back up my review. . Whether google will upload them is another matter. Been a member of this gym under different owners since 2001.

Like this place but nothing seems to be working consistently . Pool and Spa were out for over a month in Dec 2018. Now the spa has been out for around a month. The pool has been minus zero degrees temp since three weeks. This cycle repeats itself every two months.

This gym is nothing compared to competitors. Showers never has hot water so why pay the extra for a swimming pool when I can just go 1mins away to the gym(which is 24hours) for 27.99 instead of 49.99. Only reason why I'm still a member is because it never seems to be busy.

The gym side is okay with a couple of broken machines. The shower area is dirty and the spa is in need of complete renovation as its filthy and it's very rare that everything works at the same time.

Being a member of a tier 2 gym, I ventured to this tier 5 gym with no real expectations. It's nice, in parts and meh in others but overall it is not bad. The gym is miles better than the one in Millbank, fully equipped and never really busy, I loved that area, good separation of areas and free weight machines, this felt nice. New looking machines they invested and I cannot complain. The pool area is a bit of a let down There is no deep end so I don't feel challenged in anyway, but it is warmer which I kind of like. 1 severely over powered Jacuzzi, I'm a tiny guy so felt like I was drowning! Ok the last bit is an over exaggeration but it is really high powered. It is a bit bright compared to the spa like feel of Millbank. The steam room is small but very effective, although felt a but dirty. The sauna never got that hot and I sat in it for a good 15 minutes, that's a disappointment. The showers were a bit mouldy in parts in the pool area. The changing rooms are nice, I like the fact you don't need a padlock and you can use your wristband, unsure why this is not in the Millbank one but maybe they need a mini refurb, it would make life so much better, plus they look cleaner. Overall, it's not bad, although I'm none too pleased that you have to pay 2.5Β£ for a towel, for the price point you pay, that's a crazy, felt a bit like Ryanair type usage here. Not quite 5 stars and gets 4 stars just mainly for the gym area.

It is pretty good value for money but don't go here if you expect very high standards of cleanliness and equipment. Most lockers in the changing rooms have broken locks, floor and benches often wet, some shower cabins have a bit of mould popping up here and there. Equipment is ok but free weight section is usually full unless it's a really off-peak time. Small pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

Great value for money and great location! I am using the gym for 7months now and am very happy with it. After a recent refurbishment, all the machines are new and the dressing room and showers are in tip top shape. The range of courses are good, even though they should include zumba or aerobics classes. Opening times are also convenient.

The men's showers stink of piss, the plumbing means there's a smell of sewers in the changing room, and good luck finding an empty locker. A refurb last year has left the place falling apart. Even the water fountain has been broken for months. Desk staff don't care.

Membership here is cheap, the equipment is pretty good and there's a pool. Sometimes the bathrooms can be pretty gross and for a while there was some kind of bug infestation in the showers.

Good place. The toilets have very specific stink from manhole I guess (I'm not the expert on this). But gym has good equipment (this is 2019 July) and is taken care for.

Avoid, their customer service is even poorer than the worm filled facilities. I wanted to have a session on the 1st of Feb at their Russel Square club and asked for the membership options and never got told about the option for a day pass so I went with the monthly. I only got told by a friend afterwards that they do day passes too, which came as a surprise to me. One month later, on the 1st of March my direct debit got my membership renewed and considering that I have only used the facility once before and did not intend to use it in March at all either, I asked for a refund of the March fees I prepaid for. Haven't heard back after sending multiple emails. Later when calling the head office they told me that even though I have only used the facility once over 5 weeks and that they never informed me of the option for a day pass, they will refuse to give a refund as the T&C states I need to give a month's notice. At the end as an extra, Edwin Bance, their GM even accused me that I didn't ask the receptionist about the day pass option (which I did), despite him not knowing about how our conversation with the receptionist went. I do understand that this stands up legally, but fails on many levels of doing fair business: not telling the customer about the membership options, not replying to the refund request emails for 9 days and refusing to give a refund for a service that I prepaid for and do not intend to use. Stay away from these facilities, a poorly equipped gym without hot water and worms in the showers is not worth the hassle.

Convenient location for me personally. I've belonged to 3 gyms in London, and this is as good as any. I don't use the pool, so can't say, but otherwise equipment all works well, and staff is nice enough.

Any gym Eddie goes to automatically becomes 5 star for me and my friends, i have been following him and what he does and says for over 3 years now and is the first and only person i will ever ask for help. He has helped me in bulking, in losing weight, in sport preparation, in muscle injury and pain and even in my boxing to an incredible level. its hard to find someone who you can be professional and have banter with at the same time and he definitely brings that. his extensive knowledge of all muscles and stretches and his sports massages have helped me so much and i cant wait to begin my new cycle of fitness with his help.
