Overpriced for what you are getting now. £90 pounds. Used to be a decent gym but half the time the sauna/steam rooms are not working, there's no space to work out because the PT's (who keep touting you for business) are spending a long time training in the space that used to be accessible to members. I only joined the gym because it was close to work and Swimming Nature held lessons there. Now that I am done with the lessons, i'm also done with the gym. Even the managers keep changing so there's a high turn over of staff, and the reception staff aren't particularly bright. My last visit on 1st September: sauna out of use, ladies toilets lights not working, steam room not working, no cleaner, no soap in dispenses in showers, some equipment with signs on them saying not in use, and once again, a not so bright person on reception who couldn't tell me when the sauna would be fixed and doesn't seem to appreciate the health and safety risks of having no lighting in ladies toilets. Rather troubling. I think it's only a matter of time before the remaining Fitness First Gyms are sold off. They had to downsize by closing many of the greater London ones down, and now the standards of the remaining ones are dire. Clearly got financial issues, and meanwhile skanking members by putting up their fees and not providing the service they once used to. Speaking to management yields no results.

Fitness first on Baker Street is a great gym. More than that-- given the location in prime Marylebone this is a gym that is so good I have felt lucky that a gym as good as this exists so close to my house. The staff and trainers like Jeer are extremely friendly, professional, and constantly working hard. But also the clientele on the whole is great, generally quite friendly and polite. I always find myself in a good mood after leaving for the day after being surrounded by such a positive community. Not only that but trainers like Nigel helped correct my form in a way that likely prevented serious injury. Nearby W1 gyms tend to be either rather busy, heaving with crowds, or small boutique gyms without a full offering of equipment. Fitness First Baker street has not only a great deal of equipment and facilities but it also has a good number of off peak hours where one will almost never need to wait for any particular section. Plus there is a pool! Building: The gym is located in what seems to be something like a converted basement or parking garage. There is a small upstairs waiting room and welcome area then the gym itself is downstairs. There is a pool in the center of the gym and the equipment itself wraps around the pool. Equipment: At the far end of the gym is a group room used for trainer led classes, which happen throughout the day in a variety of genres. Then there is a section of machines, like seated bench machines, seated overhead press machines, lat pulldown machines, leg curl and extension machines, dip stations, row machine, and so on. Then near the stairs down from reception is a sort of central stretching and general use area with some variety exercises like the heavy ropes, high bars, box jumps, barbell hip thrusts and so on. Then a section of power racks and cable machines. Then some more assorted machines like a hip thrust machine and smith machine. Then finally is a section for boxing, and beyond that a number of benches with dumbbells, a bench press, leg press, calf raise station, and more. Throughout the gym is a large variety of different cardio machines like rowing machines, different bikes, treadmills, stair machines, and on and on and on. Pool: There is a pool and a sauna, which is a very nice treat in central Marylebone. The pool seems to be used often by both people training and also by families with children. Changing rooms: At the front of the gym by the stairs down there is a female changing room and at the other end of the pool there is a male changing room. There is no female only portion of the gym beyond this. Both changing rooms then go directly into the pool and sauna area or back into the gym. The changing rooms are quite well maintained and there is always a lot of lockers free although the men's bathroom is quite small. You can borrow padlocks at the front desk or much more preferably bring your own. If you're buying a new lock: the shackle diameter of the lockers is a bit larger than 8mm, I was able to use my 8mm shackle lock easily but it was snug so I wouldn't recommend anything bigger.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM YOU WILL REGRET IT. If you enjoy getting ripped off then join the gym. Staff and rude and the head office staff are even worse- completely incompetent and useless. The sauna usually doesn’t work and the pool is often closed. Baker Street branch is a converted car park and it’s always crowded. The toilets are always disgusting and there has bern a recent spate of thefts from the changing rooms which of course the staff can’t/ won’t do anything about.

Update: Really fed up of the steam room always being out of use. It's winter and this is the time to enjoy it but it was out of service again today! I then made my way to the Tottenham Court Road one and theirs was out of service too! It's really infuriating. Fitness First needs to stop advertising and charging for services that basically don't exist! We've already out up with almost 2 months of half the gym being under repair. Why are we being charged full price? Loved training here but had to cancel. With such a central location it's a shame to close so early when there are so many 24hr gyms as an alternative. This would also help with the crowding issue which happens at peak time because people know they can't come later if they want to train after work. This is particularly useful because as the gym is in the shape of a straight line with the pool to the side, navigating from one side to another makes the crowding worse. Extend your opening hours and I'd be happy to re-join! 24hr clubs are the future

Awesome gym. There's pretty much plenty of space to work out in for a Central London gym. The pool has an iridescent blue glow that really helps illuminate the gym especially for my tired eyes that do not like fluorescent lights. I spend about an hour and half there five days a week. Once I get there I don't want to leave.

TERRIBLE Hygienic condition. They use the TOWELS that give to customers to MOP the TOILET Floor. YES. the TOWELS are UNDER THE TOILET SEAT to cover the URINE. The smell in the changing room is disgusting. Floors are always wet. The whole gym it’s just a narrow CORRIDOR. I had a membership for nearly 1 year , Ive been told that it would Cover access to all gyms however for the first ever one lady at the reception stopped me to tell me that I had to PAY EXTRA 10£ for Only one day Access On TOP OF MY MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP… Like she said, either Pay or Go to another Gym with a lower tier. Basically Ive been forced take the tube and go train in another gym… Monthly membership it’s more than 120£..

Firstly, I was disappointed with the condition of the women's toilets, as they were consistently in an unsanitary state. During my visit today, all but one toilet were blocked, and the only available one lacked toilet paper. This lack of cleanliness is concerning and should be addressed promptly. Additionally, a significant number of lockers were found to be broken. Many individuals seemed to disregard using locks and simply threw their belongings into the lockers, making it difficult to find an unoccupied one. Ensuring that lockers are properly maintained and encouraging members to use locks would greatly enhance the security and convenience of the facility. Furthermore, the standard of gym classes at Fitness First was notably poor. In comparison to more affordable gyms, such as Pure Gym, the instructors and classes fell short. The spin class lacked motivation, with the instructor struggling to operate the audio equipment. In the Pilates class, the instructor made inappropriate jokes, which were not conducive to a relaxing environment. The Bodycombat class had an instructor who seemed inexperienced, making it difficult for participants to follow. Although the Boxercise class was enjoyable, it began 15 minutes late due to the instructor's delay. Additionally, I noticed the presence of mold in the pool area, which raises concerns about hygiene and maintenance. Furthermore, a number of water fountains are not functioning, limiting access to hydration for members. Lastly, the early closure time of 8 pm on weekends felt restrictive for those who prefer to work out later in the day. Extending the gym's operating hours would provide more flexibility and cater to the needs of a wider range of members.

I have been a member at this branch for over 2 years and I have never known who the manager is. Recently, there was an incident with one of the personal trainers who was pressuring people to finish their sets quickly so they could get their clients on the machines. While the gym itself is great, I can't say the same for the management of this branch. The personal trainers seem to think they have more rights over the members. Considering the price you pay, I wouldn't recommend this branch unless they change the management and bring in people who know how to run a top-tier branch.

I have been a member for more than a year however cancelled my membership in December 2019. Maintenance is very poorly! Spinning bikes, sauna, swimming pool.. have been broken for weeks several times during 2019. Classes where changed without consulting members in advance. Classes are already short in the evening hence this move was pretty disappointing. Additionally the gym was closed beginning of December for over a week but still members had to pay the full monthly membership. When asked about this, local staff referred me to the Oxford Circus club, which remains open but also is not a premium DW club, ergo I'm not getting the service I'm paying for. Last but not least the gym announced they are increasing the membership fee for 2020 3 days after the cancelation deadline for end 2019. I'm sure for a business, confident of its customer retention capabilities, it must be possible to send customers a reminder a couple of days prior, rather than to merely inform them that they'll pay more from hereon a few days after the cancellation deadline has passed?

Clearly the most premium of the fitness first gyms I've been to. Amazing place amazing staff and amazing facilities ( you can see how amazing it has been) Expect all sort of machines and weights plus a huge variety of sections for freestyle workouts.

Just joined and honestly ending my membership this week. I Turned up at 8 pm and it was horrific, This branch was so saturated, we packed like sardines in a teeny tiny box, literally. So not really an ideal place to workout or de-stress after work and it is the same scenario in the morning. Your gyms are just way too small, a suggestion please stop signing up new members.

Surprisingly large underground gym with all the equipment you'd want or need. Personal trainers everywhere as well. One TV station only so cardiovascular time can feel long - bring something to look at.

Nice spacious gym. But swimming pool seem to be just for swimmers. Nothing like spa type of pool where you can have privacy. Is very open - in the middle of the gym. But the main thing for me is working out so can't complain regarding gym floor.

They told me I could leave at anytime and then got me to sign a years contract. I suppose it's my fault for not reading the small print but the guy basically conned me. Luckily - he forgot to load my signed contract to the system, so it was void. They did their very best to pretend they did have my contract though. The equipment is quite good but the classes are badly run, sometimes you have an instructor who has been thrown in late or last minute and makes it all up. For what it is - it's over priced. You have to bring your own lock for the lockers, and belongings have been known to go missing.

Post pandemic regulations in place. It is nice gym and clean. A lot of people are constantly cleaning things on the gym floor. It is not too busy during the week days and weekends so one can exercise. There is almost no group classes in the offering though. Opening hours are short so I have hard time making it to the gym :( I lower down the rating due to opening hours and really minimal classes options

Before lockdown Fitness First Baker St. closed at 8pm on Sundays. Now that lockdown has lifted it closes at 6pm, the virus being particularly active between 6 and 8pm apparently. When challenged they said that to keep it open until 8 was 'unfeasible'. Taking our full subscription is, however, feasible nonetheless.

Great gym but very poor front of house. My friend and I went with the intention of joining but the girl on reception was very rude, we felt like an inconvenience being there, as if we were not welcome, which was really demotivating as we were excited about getting into the gym. We decided to join at Tottenham Court Road instead, the lady was lovely, a completely different experience.

Since training at Fitness First in Baker Street I have been incredibly impressed. The gym is always spotless and there is plenty of equipment for everyone, as well as ample space to stretch, even when it’s busy. The staff are exemplary, all so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable, whether front of house or on the gym floor. I train with the fabulous Dan, who is also the Fitness Manager. Always upbeat and happy to help customers, as a trainer he pushes me way beyond anything I thought possible. I wholeheartedly recommend Fitness First Baker Street.

Probably the best gym and swimming pool I have come across so far. The staff is simply amazing and always very polite, not to mention extremely helpful if in need of anything. I never would have imagined the place to be kept so nicely and the amount of different features they offer including two saunas. Honestly couldn’t be any happier to be able to benefit from such a lovely place.

It’s always so packed, not a relaxing environment after work. Even tried it out on a Saturday but still packed. Not enough machinery and a weird layout. Classes are good but again very packed - pilates class was impossible to even do properly without hitting someone in the face. Steam room and sauna are always full of about 10 people and the pool you’ll be swimming on top of people. Cancelled my membership to go back to Virgin and ended up paying £150 in total to get my membership cancelled. Definitely don’t commit until you’ve done a few trials/ been with a friend on a guest pass. 100% not worth it, only perk is the location if you work near but pointless if you can’t use the facilities.

This is not a gym worthy of a ‘black label’, or premium title like they give it. The place is grubby, with mould growing around walls, in the pool area and in the steam room. Two out of four water fountains don’t work, and there is a constant flow of guys ‘working out’ in the jeans and outdoor clothes who constantly reuse the trail session that you can book online. It’s basically used as gym equivalent of a shelter. The steam room is just a little warm and smells bad most the time and gets slimy on the floor so it doesn’t seem to be cleaned everyday. A low quality run place marketed as luxury. Needs a turnaround in management and serious investment.

Everything you need in a gym, however slightly too busy at times. Fellow members can be quite snobby but perhaps it’s because it’s Baker Street. Showers can be quite dirty but overall nice staff, good equipment, ambience and location. Wish they had a jacuzzi within the swimming pool area and a bigger sauna. Also, please provide sanitising wipes to wipe the equipment after use. Overall pretty modern, professional gym but you get what you pay for... Be careful if you can’t commit to a contract as cancellation might be tricky

This was one of the main reasons why I used to visit this gym and now I have to go back to my pay as you go local gym to use the various amazing peacher curl machines there. Why would you remove this? In addition you have now two of the same shoulder press and lat pull down machines??? Why did you remove the perfectly good machinery that targets different part of muscle group? Still no abductor adductor machines!! Many thanks in advance.

Good gym with friendly staff. Jeer, Venezia, and Kristina stand out as being particularly helpful. The facilities are nice with most of the machines needed though a biceps curl and triceps extension machines would be nice. The ROX class in the newly created boxing studio is one of the best gym classes I have been to. They need to add more late afternoon or weekend hours, in my opinion, as this is easily one of the most booked classes.

I truly believe that this is the best Fitness Centre I have ever joined, definitely the best in London I am aware of! The facilities, gym and swimming pool in particular (including the double sauna, with steam and without) are incredibly clean, well organised, very functional. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The changing rooms are immaculate and plenty of services. Every single member of the staff is polite and professional, always keen on helping and providing the right information. I would recommend this place to everyone!!!

The gym is modern, furnished to a high standard, clean with very friendly staff. The PT Mossab I started with over lockdown via zoom and since doing face to face sessions where I have seen an incredible improvement. The atmosphere is very motivating and encourages to push myself further, even adjusting my goals accordingly. Despite it not being my local gym, driving half an hour in traffic has been worthwhile.

Great Gym , this is one of the best gyms Ive used while working in London. It is very well equipped , lots of space , nice swimming pool , very hot sauna and steam bath , changing rooms are great with complimentry towels, the whole place never feels too crowded. The staff are great too, the new manager Matt is a smashing fella. Just a shame there are none of these gyms near me in Swansea ....sort it out FF

Only trialled it for a spin class, pool and sauna on a busy lunch time. The spin room has the bikes far too close together, literally can touch another person beside you without having to stretch your arm out full length but the instructor was brilliant, motivational and clear in her instructions. Towels were given on entry. I did notice however used towels being used to clean/dry some floors. Pool and sauna were ok but as I said it was a busy lunchtime slot I chose. The showers have glass dividers so they're not at all private (more like a live show!) so if you'd prefer a purpose built shower cubicle for privacy then this isn't for you. Apparently all the Fitness First showers are like this. The changing rooms are just that, a changing room. Again, no changing cubicle for privacy (space is at a premium, I get it).

Love this gym. Stuff are so wonderful and attentive. Little disappointed with toilets and showers ( constant plumbing issues ): nevertheless stuff and general atmosphere makes up for all inconveniences :)

One of the worst Fitness 1st branch in London (Ilford). * Zero cleanness throughout the gym. If something breaks they don't fix. It's disgusting - trust me. * The fitness instructors are always grumpy possibly don't get paid well. They are busy spraying air fresheners to keep the odour and drain smell to minimal. * If you complain to management - they simply DON'T care. * AVOID at any cost. Don't get fooled by cheap monthly fee.

Fitness First I believe it's a good gym. The staff are friendly & helpful. The members that join the gym are not helping to keep the gym clean so because of this the cleaner struggles to keep the gym clean. The members should be reminded to keep the gym clean but other than that it's a great gym

Just joined! Definitely a big upgrade from my previous gym. It’s a great space with plenty of equipment to choose from, the option to swim which is something I need to start doing and it’s clean with super cool lighting. If you like a quieter workout Friday night is a great night to pop in for sure.

I have been going to Fitness First Baker Street for several years now and I love it. It is one of the best gyms in Marylebone, with a huge range of facilities and classes to suit everyone's needs and goals. Some of the things that I appreciate about this gym are: - The cleanliness and hygiene of the floor, equipment and towels. They provide everything you need for a comfortable, convenient and safe workout, including renting a locker option. - The cheerful and friendly staff who are always ready to help and motivate you. I especially want to thank Dan, Matt, Farhan, William, Omri, Yasmin, Hula, Hannah, Liz and several others for their professionalism and kindness - The open hours from very early in the morning, even during bank holidays. This gives me no excuse to not go and stick to my routine. One of the highlights of this gym is the swimming pool, which offers private swimming tuition. It is hard to find such a facility at many gyms in central London. I also enjoy the sauna and steam rooms for some relaxation after a hard workout. The classes are amazing and varied. While Trax, Boxercise, Spin and BodyPump are my favorite, they also offer several others that varies in intensity. I highly recommend Fitness First Baker Street to anyone looking for a great gym experience in London. It is worth every penny and you will not regret it.

Gym has everything you need in terms of equipment but I can’t get over how dirty it is. The bathrooms, the floors, all of the equipment is covered in sweat and there never seems to be any cleaning crew around.

Everything about the gym is good except that it gets crowded between 5-8 pm. Availing smaller head towels would be nice The gym need to have some policies for the members printed and placed on the walls around the gym for the following: Members need to put the equipment back in place for others to use them (especially dumbbells). Members should not hold 2 or sometimes 3 machines for their routine while others are waiting. Putting used towels in the designated bins. Everything else is great , the staff the location, the variety of machines and studios, the available Beverages and nutrition snacks.

I recently signed up to the gym and Shay was one of the first people I met. She's incredibly knowledgeable and always ready to help with a smile. Whether you need guidance on proper form or advice on reaching your fitness goals, she's got you covered. Her positive energy is contagious and her willingness to assist is unmatched. Definitely one of the best people I've ever come across !

I very much enjoy coming here and do quite often. The facilities are of a great size. The sauna and steam room is always enjoyable post-workout. The staff are very helpful and welcoming and I can’t wait to try out the classes they do (Trax). The atmosphere is also ok. Highly recommended!

The visit has been great. I’d consider signing up for this gym. Especially the sauna is so great, which is a big selling point.

Attended fitness first in Baker Street and the facilities was top of the range, with machines that other gyms like David Lloyd don’t have. A big shout out to Dalkeith who showed me around the gym and made me feel very welcomed and and was very happy to show me how to use machines I’ve never used before. Will definitely be returning!

Great gym! Surprisingly large, it seems to go on forever , full of all the equipment you need, including a swimming, sauna and steam room! Lovely staff who work well as a team, especially a nice young man called Dalkeith who helped take me through some exercises and correct my form

I have just started at the gym and signed up for PT sessions with Ruben. I’ve been having sessions for the past 2 months and already seen results I didn’t see with my PT before. I like that he makes sure to incorporate exercises that I like and not only his own. Would highly recommend him.

I've been with this specific Baker Street gym for over 6 months . 1- It's always clean, 2 - The personal trainers are friendly and approachable at all times and 3 - The towel service has been perfect and reliable every time. I'd also like to thank Chris - the membership manager for being helpful and going the extra mile ! Would recommend to all my friends.

I am so unhappy and I recommend anyone looking for a gym to look at other options as you will end up unhappy, especially with the terrible customer service they had as I have sent quite a few emails explaining my situation and they just don't care and they say they cannot do nothing and that I cannot cancel. Is this for real????? Below I explain all the reasons why I am so disappointed: 1-The hot water has not been working on the showers at the club that is nearest to where I live and which is Cottons Centre at London Bridge and the one I frequent the most for being closer. This is the main but not only reason that makes me want to cancel the membership I have with them as it has been more than 2 months!!!!!! at Fitness First Cottons Centre club (London Bridge) and still nothing has been done about it and this is just unbelievable. Staff won't tell you how long it will take to get fixed and I just feel like being ripped off because I am paying money and I have the feeling that nothing works well and even the hairdryers many times won't work. 2-The gyms are always very cold, no matter where you go inside of the gym including the changing rooms is always super cold. I have mentioned this to the staff and they said that they will increase the temperature but nothing seems to change and it is not pleasant to exercise in those conditions with your muscles cold and especially in this very cold city. 3-Music is super loud, I understand that most of the people get motivated by rhythmic music to work but the level at which you have the music at your clubs is quite unpleasant. 4-The sauna and especially the steam room is always super hot, which makes it impossible to remain there inside and as soon as you go in you just want to get out. As well, I have shared this with the staff but nothing is ever done. 5-Many times I would come to the clubs wanting to use the steam room and it is out of service and it always takes at least a week and many times two to get fixed with staff not being too concerned about it. 6-The clubs are super crowded and they just keep signing up people which again doesn't make it really pleasant to stay or even to go to the gym and if anyone is dissatisfied they won't even allow them to leave like they are doing with me!!!! which feels like a terrible customer service experience and a completely rip off!!!

Shoutout to whoever was in charge of cleaning the men’s showers today (05/01/24 @ 10:30am)! The gentleman took serious pride in his work and everything was sparkling clean - I’ve never seen it that clean and fresh before. I was so impressed that I had to write this review. FF is a great gym but the cleanliness of its toilets / showers is usually satisfactory as opposed to stellar. Today was stellar ! Thank you team <3

I have been trying to cancel my membership for the last month, and despite clarifying with them in person about it, many emails, trying to ring and no one picking up, I’m still getting sent automated emails hassling me about payment. Customer service doesn’t seem to exist, please can someone check the emails and cancel my membership already! Despite this it was a good gym and friendly staff - I will change my review to 5 stars once this issue is sorted!

😠 If there was a choice I wouldn't give any star. I had the most horrible experience in my life. The way I was treated at the harrow branch was really bad.
