I'll start with the good: I like that's theres parking, and I like the spa music played in the change rooms. Emily was at reception and she is amazing! It's because of her helpful, 5 star attitude this isn't a 1 star review. She really went above and beyond, thank you Emily! The bad: It irks me that this is the same gym as the city branches, they are just worlds apart. I would appreciate more clarity on where offers towels and where doesn't, this is the second gym I have come short at. The toilets and hallways are freezing! The shower cubicals are tiny with no doors, there is one squat rack in the whole gym. The lockers are a different system to the city gyms but you don't find that out till you get there. Again, thanks to Emily that was sorted, but more clarity before arriving!

I do not want to give ONE STAR - it is not worth it! NONE would be better! This is the one of the worse gyms I have ever been to. Recently had a new manager - the quality of the gym has declined... The staff are rude and unfriendly. The change rooms are dirty. The steam room in the ladies has not worked for over a month. My boyfriend said that half the showers in the male change room have not worked for over a month too. Once our contracts end we will NOT be renewing - there are other gyms nearby with better facilities and staff!

This is another terrible Nuffied Gym, what an embarrassment of a gym! Bad facilities and Amenities. The men's lockers are located right at the top of building which is completely unfair and does not consider anyone who may have a disability. Sauna and Steam are not good, steam has no steam whatsover. Unhygienic. This place is in need of a serious refurb or needs to be shut down. Simple as that.

Worst gym with rude staff. Cancelled my gym on a basis that was allowed by my contract, however they keep stealing money from my card. Reported to my bank and regulators.

Not a great gym - idiotic policies which need updating Some incredibly unhelpful staff on front desk. That being said there are a few personal trainers in there who are incredibly friendly and helpful (hence the two stars given) if I were them I would move to a better gym. Changing facilities very basic. Equipment not great. Always available squash courts which is a bonus. Happy to be leaving that gym and would not consider re joining.

Leaving this review to help improve the state of this gym, Firstly lockers are smelly please clean them up! Secondly some of the PTs here are notably anti-social having met so many of them over time I’ve to say Faizal is fantastic on the contrary Cassius Abraham is very rude. management should speak with him more training is needed to help him understand how to communicate with us, customers!

Overall a pleasant gym but some tweaks could make the experience so much better! - steam room & sauna are great. Shame they closed the jacuzzi which was a unique benefit (and justified the high pricetag considering the gym area doesn't feel particularly premium) - the lockers are quite annoying. Why can't we just bring our own lock instead of fiddling with greasy keys that have been in someone else's sweaty hands/ pocket. I'd say it's unnecessary and cumbersome to carry them around plus not hygienic (also how do you expect us to carry these keys into the shower etc?) Gym area looks dated but is fine and pleasant to use. A more friendly pricing would make it more palatable otherwise an added benefit like a jacuzzi would help justify it. Overall nice gym but getting rid of those annoying keys and just letting us bring our own locks would make a huge difference. A towel service would also be a nice extra. The pricing doesn't really fit the dated gym unless there's an added perk like a jacuzzi.

Would not suggest this club to anyone. 1) the club is very dirty and grot. It is quite big and untaken care of, therefore it is not cosy at all, very unpleasant to be there. 2) the staff always tries to trick you, contract is unclear, cancelling the membership is a horror ( ended up paying for two extra months) 3) changing rooms are disgusting, the floor carpet is stained, wet, dirty and it smells bad. 4) group lessons are boring. 5) squash courts are very old Simply don't go there, there are nicer sport clubs very near to this one.

The gym equipment is very dated and needs upgrading. The treadmills can't even count down on the timer, so annoying! I even asked an employee and they said they don't, he was a bit embarrassed. Some of them also rattle as though something is loose. The only good thing about this gym is the squash courts. Staff not very polite i didn't think tbh

Dealing with the staff regarding membership cancellation was a horror. I understand there is a contract in place but a little consideration into circumstances would be fair. If you want to join a gym that is a business to take money, go for it. If you want a gym that supports your health, welfare and training then look elsewhere. Due diligence especially required dealing with the shady sales staff. I would have had more value by providing scammers with my credit card details.

I just have to say that the members at this gym are not only rude but also seem to form a click and seem very territorial about the gym. A friend and I usually train together 4 to 5 times a week and this one day I didn't feel like working out so I decided to assist my friend and help him train as I was not up for it. I got accused of being a personal trainer for helping him this one time. The new manager is not only rude but made a huge deal in the front area in front of everyone and blasted me training my friend. Unprofessional and definitely poor management as there are so many other problems with this gym I could keep going on.. Broken equipment, unsanitary conditions and poorly maintained.. Stay clear from this gym and especially the manager who was literally spying on me and my gym partner in gym clothing. So rude and so sneaking and weird.

I am a member of Brondesbury Park Nuffield Health and attended the Battersea club at 1pm on a Monday afternoon. I was meeting a friend here who was also making use of the multi access feature of the membership. It was very quiet and I entered to find no one at the front desk, so sat on the sofas in the cafe waiting for my friend to arrive. I was approached by a sour faced employee asking me if I was a member and she scanned my card, first strike, be more polite. Then we got through the changing rooms and into the gym unscathed. We set up a small HIIT circuit in a workout area (no signs) that already had exercise balls, box steppers and the like in it, and no one else was working out there. We were minding our own business doing our sweaty circuit and a middle aged woman comes up to us and says in the rudest tone ‘you know this is the cool down area? If you want to do a workout there’s a big room over there for it’. Now this ‘room’ was another open area with workout equipment where one of the staff PT’s was doing a session with two women and taking up the space, so I didn’t think it would be polite at such a quiet time to encroach on their session. I responded with an ‘okay’ and a smile and we carried on with our circuit. We managed the rest of our session doing a few free weights bits without any other issues. We then wanted a towel for a shower after, went to the front desk to ask where we got one from (every single other Nuffield I have attended - which is about 5 in the last 4 years - has given out towels to anyone that is a Nuffield member that uses the gym). There were two male employees at the front desk, so I asked them where we got a towel from. They looked at me as if I was asking them to strip naked, asked me again, rudely, if I was a member, I said yes, was asked if I was a member “here” because ‘normally we charge non-members £1 to use a towel’ to which I responded ‘can I not just be a paying Nuffield Health member to have a towel?’ He told me a bitter ‘just this once, but normally it’s a £1’ and we were off with our scratchy and expensive towels. I have never felt so patronised and unwanted in a place where I am paying good money to use the gyms. Part of the attraction for me to the Nuffield group was that I could use any of the gyms that were eligible for my rate of membership. But if this is the attitude I am received with then I would wholeheartedly NOT recommend becoming a member. Not all Nuffield gyms are this bad, but I think the membership rate has gone to their head. Be more humble.

Having been to a few Nuffield gyms around the UK, I found this one was inferior by comparison which was a shame. The gym floor was smaller than I expected with somewhat limited equipment (there was only 1 squat rack, but 2 smith machines). The treadmills seemed quite old, they worked but haven't been updated in the last 5 years I would guess. The staff were nice and very helpful, it was just that the equipment wasn't as good as it could be. On a positive note, I went during what I would have expected to be peak hours on the weekend, it was actually very quiet so I was able to use the equipment I needed. This isn't as expensive as other Nuffield gyms around London though, so maybe that had a part to play in setting your expectations!

Probably one of the worst!!! Got "told off" for placing my feet on the wall while doing sit ups as apparently someone has to paint the walls every week due to people doing this. Well guess what, if it's an on going issue, maybe put a sign up. Save your selves the trouble of telling your customers off for doing something other gyms don't even consider an issue. No signs, just a rude member of staff giving me a bull crap excuse as to why they needed to tell of a fully grown adult. Second, I got told off by a another customer (old lady) for making too much noise. Is this a gym or a library??? I wasn't being disruptive, the noise was general ambient gym noise of picking weights up and putting them down. Weights are heavy? YES. Weights are made of metal? YES. With this comes a little noise. Staff have been rude on a few occasions. They never seem to be doing much work other than lounging around on the sofas watching the music channel. This gym, is going down hill and is not a good positive example of the Nuffield brand.

I was really disappointed with the free trial session I had here. I was expecting the facilities to be luxurious but they really weren't Cupboard doors were falling off, the Jacuzzi was cold and the ladies changing rooms were so big which felt like a real waste of potential space. The centre didn't feel clean and the staff ion reception, including the Duty Manager, were not welcoming or warm in trying to convince us to join Nuffield. The experience did not make me want to become a member, and I would not recommend this centre to anyone.

Attended today with a day pass. Shocked by how low quality this gym was when compared to other Nuffield gyms. It's falling apart and filthy. If I was the brand manager for Nuffield, I would change the name of this club as it's detracting from the rest of the brand. Just as an example, please see photo of a buildup of clumps of dust on my locker door. This was also all over the plinths and ceilings throughout the gym. Please clean it, fix the things that are broken, and either bring up to par with others or give up on being a Nuffield gym.

Poor quality gym with terrible approach to customer service. I joined as an extra to my corporate membership before realising the facilities were extremely antiquated. While a member I was repeatedly chased for membership fees due to a clerical error, having to point out I had already paid. When I gave one month’s notice I wished to leave, I was chased for two months membership fees because I gave notice after the first day of the month. Avoid.

I purchased a day pass to assess this gym and its facilities. The entrance and reception were nice, hence 2 stars. But this is the first private health club I’ve visited with no towel service. I had to buy a towel for £8! The gym was bog-standard and there were a couple of squash courts. That’s it! The women’s locker room contained a sauna and steam room, again standard kit, but no other spa facilities. Sauna was adequate but the steam room wasn’t hot enough. The lockers have metal keys - not something you’d want to bring into the sauna! lol! And weirdly, although the area was large enough to hold a number of sunbeds, only 2 deck chairs were provided for members to relax! lol! There was gel in the showers, I presume was a body wash, it wasn’t labelled. But no swim suit spinner. No tissues or lotions. No sanitary bags in the toilet or dispensing machines. Only 2 bins for a large changing room. They did at least have hairdryers. Honestly this place is super strange for a health club - there’s quite a lot of space but it’s just weirdly laid out and sparsely decorated with lots of creepy corridors. I would never pay health club prices for a membership here! It’s bog-standard at most, community leisure centres are similarly or better equipped - avoid!

After reading the reviews for this gym, I would like to reassure people that it has improved over the last 6 months. I have always found the P.T's very helpful. Management and reception staff have changed and also seem better. The gym is basic and not flashy and that is the reason I like it, as the clientele are from all age groups, there to get fit and healthy not pose

Faran has been very professional and friendly when signing me onto the membership plan. I highly recommend Faran with someone who works with due diligence and professionalism. Very motivated individual with a good approach with his navy suit attire. I am now going to recommend my friends and family to pursue memberships at Battersea Club.

I've been a member of Nuffield for over 10 years and I can honestly say that the PT sessions I have with Emily are by far the best I've ever had anywhere in London or even around the world. Her professionalism, knowledge and enthusiasm for her clients keep me coming back. In fact, I'm a member of another gym too, but I keep my Nuffield membership because Emily get results! I am surprised at the negative comments on here. I have been a member for about four years now and am very happy with the service I get for the off-peak price I pay. I have always found the reception staff to be polite and helpful. It's not a flash gym/spa but I would rather not pay for these things anyway as I just need a few weights, the Wattbike and a running machine. The personal trainers are also very professional and friendly and don't pester you for business. If you want to get fit or strong or train for an event like a marathon or triathlon it is perfectly adequate. It would benefit from an incline treadmill or two but I'm a runner so I would say that!

My local gym - I love it even though it is not the best on earth but the stuff is very friendly and it has got all you need including the squash courts. However, they really should fix the locks in the changing area. It really doesn't take much to replace all those keys without numbers etc. It has been like this FOR YEARS... while they manage to refurbish the showers already twice in the meantime. Please do something about those lockers and keys!

It’s such a shame when you get newish young, arrogant staff who have serious control issues and lose complete sight of the fact that you are a paying client! The assistant manager thinks he’s running an institution not a gym and can boss clients around. Before literally interrupting someone’s workout and telling them that they can’t take their small bag containing water, lip balm, tissues etc into the gym, perhaps he should ensure that the non stop use of people using mobile phones, non wiping down of machines and leaving of equipment all over the place are adhered to especially after Covid! How unprofessional and rude!

  • 4/5 C J. 2 months ago on Google • 10 reviews New
I joined the Joint Pain Program run by Alejandro and Karoline in the summer which was a great reintroduction to the gym for me after a period of non-attendance during Covid. Really enjoyed the program which was a mix of gym and cardio, also various classes inc Pilates and Dance. The twice a week regime really helped me get back into gym routine, lose some weight and improve fitness. Alejandro and Karoline are excellent trainers. The only reason for 4 stars not 5 is due to the condition of some of the facilities, e.g. the men’s changing room which needs a refurb, as noted by others.

Passed through here on an uncharacteristically sunny yet frosty January morning. Easy enough to get a day pass, nice amenities and never too busy - the steam and sauna, as well as general state of the locker room amenities however left something to be desired. Overall 71 points out of 100

I was on the joint pain programme with Alejandro and with occasional support from Karolina. It was outstanding! The exercises, the fun vibe and the actual recovery were fantastic! The gym is great too! Loved the steam room and sauna and all the staff are so friendly and helpful!

I have to recommend the Joint Mobility Programme I took part in last year. Excellent 12 weeks of sessions with Alejandro and colleagues who changed my life and set me up for feeling I could join a gym, gave me confidence to exercise in the right ways. I was apprehensive about using the machines but the excellent instruction and care of the Battersea staff encouraged me to overcome all these fears. I can’t praise this facility and the staff enough. Thanks so much. Particularly loved the circuit training and the yoga class run by Gideon - so much more than a generic yoga class he really helped me see and change my spine stiffness. Thanks to all for the help.

I was a member here for a decade, finishing 20 years ago. Went back over the weekend and was amazed at how nothing has changed. Same cardio machines that I saw installed 25 years ago, now looking more tired than I am. Staff were great but the place looks and feels a bit run down - really needs some money spent on it, which I suspect Nuffield will not do under the current circumstances. It used to be a good up market club - now sadly a shadow of its former self.

I joined this gym around two and a half years ago - despite the high turn around of PTs, usually a good bunch of classes available. Highly recommend Emily’s spin classes - nothing more satisfying than completing the 6.45am class on a Tuesday morning - as well as Alejandro’s classes, which are always challenging but fun, incorporating all kinds of exercises.

I’ve been training at Nuffield Health Battersea for years now. I just want to point out how amazing the staff are. The front of house staff is always a pleasure to see. I am always greeted with a smile, this goes a long way to setting your mood. Lamis, Cash, Emily and Charmaine are so welcoming. I always walk in with a smile and leave with gainzzzz and a smile. A great gym and place to train ❤️

Alejandro and Karoline my rehab specialists on the Joint Pain Programme were amazing. I started having done very little regular exercise and suffering from chronic pain and lack of stamina. I was also very new to working out on gym equipment and felt self conscious. With their very sensitive and intuitive encouragement over the twelve weeks of the course I am now pain free and confident in my new fitness regime. They offered specialist advice and help and adjusted the programme to suit my mobility needs. I thoroughly recommend them and Nuffield Battersea.

I went to Alejandro (PT) at the beginning of this year due to a long-lasting shoulder injury (of 9 years) where I’d seen so many physio’s and osteo’s and had many treatments which didn’t really work. After having regular sessions with Alejandro my shoulder mobility and strength has improved for the first time in years and I was able to climb Kilimanjaro last month (with the backpack) which was my goal. He has a great understanding of the body and adapts exercises in a creative and effective way. Highly recommend.

Nuffield Health Battersea's weekly classes offer a variety of cardio, HIT and yoga/pilates classes. They are starting to update and replace the facilities & new spin bikes just arrived. Most importantly it is a friendly gym :you are always greeted with a smile when entering, special mention to Pamis for always being pleasant and helpful.

Thank you Alejandro for the 12 weeks of training. You are a star. When I first started at Nuffield I was in so much pain - especially my upper arms and shoulders and also problems with my balance. Now I can lift my arms above my head due to your wonderful training. I can also report my balance has really improved. Even though the group was doing the same exercises you got us working at our own level. Most of us ached afterwards but gradually our pain subsided. You inspired me to continue exercising which I realize now is good for my own well-being. Thank you for your kindness, gentleness and encouragement during the weeks I attended the course. Thanks for impressing upon me the importance of continuing to exercise after the end of the course, after all it will only be beneficial for me and my whole well-being now and in the future. Thanks again Alejandro!!👍☺️ May I also say, that the course is brilliant and I would encourage anyone who needs help with pain management to join the course.

Les Mills RPM with Kenny is a consistently uplifting experience. Kenny's motivational coaching, punctuality, and incredible energy create a dynamic atmosphere. He has a unique ability to read the room and push participants at just the right moments. Kenny's personalized coaching and openness about his own challenges make the sessions relatable and inspiring. His genuine care for participants sets him apart, making him the highlight of the club. While the facilities are commendable, Kenny's classes are the standout feature, making a 100% recommendation well-deserved.

I’ve recently completed a (free) 12 week Joint Pain programme. Less painful than it sounds. Alejandro was a sympathetic, considerate but quietly demanding instructor carefully tailoring exercises to ability but bringing everyone, myself included, forward by leaps and bounds over the course. These things aren’t meant to be fun but he somehow made sure we all enjoyed ourselves despite some occasionally demanding sessions. It has re-fired my enthusiasm for this kind of exercise and as a pretty old man I’m more than grateful to him for that! Thank you!

Joined the Joint Pain Programme a year ago which was led by Alejandro and Emily. I cannot thank them more than enough (both) but in particular Alejandro who dealt with our group twice a week for 12 weeks giving each of us our confidence and purpose back. Although we was dealt with as a group we was also dealt with as individuals and our individual needs giving us the tools, confidence, knowledge to improve our movement, pain and understanding and just the kindness which gave a sense of purpose. Thank you so much Alejandro and Emily for all of your hard work and giving back the confidence that had been taken away just from being unfortunate to have an injury or illness that had destroyed mobility but made to feel that it was your fault. Also - what a great bunch of ladies that I met and became friends with!!!

I'm part of the JPP (joint pain program), which finished before Christmas. I had a great time on the course. It helped me to learn how to move correctly, and Alejandro, the team leader, made the sessions really enjoyable and welcoming. This environment was new to me, and to others on the program. I met some lovely people and we made friends and all supported each other. Thanks Alejandro for introducing me to a way of moving that I can do despite having pain and restricted movement.

I attended the Joint Pain Programme with Alejandro and Karoline as our expert trainers in 2022. Both are excellent trainers as I was shown how to manage my joint pains, through various exercises, to maintain flexibility without injuring myself in the process. I will highly recommend them and the centre to anyone wanting to learn how to exercise without stress.

I’ve been a member at Nuffield for a few years. I do a mix of gym workouts and classes - I’d recommend Alejandro’s classes as they are fun, always different and he differentiates for beginners to advanced levels 👍

I attended the joint pain programme, not only did rehabilitation specialist's karoline and Alejandro teach us to exercise safely, we were also taught about diet and stress management. If you suffer from joint pain but your too scared to exercise, then this programme is for you.

I was on the joint management programme with Alejandro and Karoline. They were both fantastic in helping me to use the equipment and explaining things.

Excellent training on the Joint Pain Programme with Alejandro and Karolina but the whole gym is in need of updating/refurbishing. JPP should be more widely known eg GP surgeries.

I started the JPP in May and it has helped me a lot with my flexibility and general fitness. Alejandro and Karoline were so knowledgeable in teaching exercises for joint & muscle pain and how to apply these to every day life. Alejandro still continues to give me so much support and always willing to help everyone.
