I've been a member for a year now, but I'm thinking of switching to a new chain. The biggest reason by far is that I can never find available equipment when I want it. It's irritating that the weights area is always crowded while the (much larger) cardio area is usually about half full. The second reason is cleanliness and the general state of the changing rooms. They are pretty shabby and often unclean. The loos are often broken/leaking and stinking out the place. This should not happen, especially at a top-tier club like this. My advice: Find out where the queues are and fix them. Do you really need that many ellipticals or could you fit in another bench? Cleanliness is so easy to get right, don't cut corners here. The changing rooms could be a lot nicer. Take a look at the David Lloyd or Virgin Active websites for clubs in the same price bracket -- that's what your changing rooms should look like.

Visited on a day pass. Plus points - location, staff were friendly and gym was reasonably modern with good equipment. Negatives - spa and pool area was extremely dated, spa was flooded - never before have I entered a sauna which is completely flooded. Changing rooms were quite dated as well, layout is crazy as the spa area is a long walk from changing rooms. Value for money - what people are paying for this gym, absolutely insane!

Great gym with lots of facilities including a swimming pool and sauna/steam room. The staff are friendly and the location is great. The facilities in some places could do with a refresh, the pool area is often a bit flooded where the floor tiles around the pool have become uneven. The changing rooms and bathrooms clearly get some abuse from inconsiderate gym members. That's a shame. But also for the level of membership charge, this should be a priority to keep neat.

The gym floor is well equipped but tiny, it feels really crammed. The equipment itself is not the latest, but in a good and working condition. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you are used to the nicer Nuffield health clubs, you'll probably be disappointed. The changing rooms are really worn and dented, so I didn't really feel like taking a shower after a (very quick) workout. The whole layout of the club is very confusing, to enter the spa you have to walk half baked through the reception area.. honestly? To be fair, I haven't been inside the pool/spa area... which might be nice. However, there are far better gyms in London. I think they should either raise the standard in this club, make it a lot cheaper, or close it down entirely.

It's a premium priced gym but has has quite decent facilities which includes a great swimming pool and a squash court...quite well maintained in general...with clean towels and bath robes...howecer the two stars are due to two issues...... 1. The corridor leading to the swimming pool has a very stale smell...the odour is sometimes unbearable.. It's a carpeted section, and probably gets wet from people walking to the changing room from the pool. As a result the carpet is very smelly. They should seriously review the hygiene standards for that passage...... 2. The free the weights area is too small for the size of membership they seem to have....if you go at peak hours it would be very difficult to get any space to do free weights or the cables, which is ok for a gym at a price point like pure gym....but for a premium priced gym priced at 100 pounds a month, this is unacceptable....they should either try and reduce the size of the membership which is unlikely, so best bet it to figure out a way to enlarge the free weights area, especially the dumbells section...which is always over crowded between 12 to 2pm. 3. The staff at the reception are very cold, and sometimes depressed..feels like you are walking to a funeral parlour than a gym. Maybe it's because they are in a basement for the whole day with lout seeing any day light. The management should do somehting to lighten them up.

Well equipped gym but missing certain machines like calf raises. The machines are of life fitness which have a dynamic reputation counter on them which can be helpful. The problem is that some personal trainers like Cedric would hog up multiple machines and equipments for training their clients and if you'd wanna use it, you won't be given even when they aren't using it at all. It's a typical characteristic of a PT focused gym like Gymbox various branches. Sadly, Nuffield Moorgate is no exception. The PTs would own the whole area like their personal gym and exersice sense of authority to prioritize their clients over the regular gymmers who technically have paid the gym fee too. Hope the management takes action to keep it fair for everyone.

Pros: the pool and spa areas are really nice, the saunas especially. At the moment thanks to Covid it’s really quiet at all hours so it’s very pleasant on the gym floor. All the staff I’ve had interactions with have been really friendly. Cons: the women’s changing rooms aren’t great for the membership price…there’s a horrible smell in the shower area that never goes away, even though I see a cleaner in there practically every time I go. The lockers are really worn and dated too. The whole gym is also pretty warm for somewhere with A/C, it might be because it’s in a basement, but if it’s a choice the management need to turn it up - I’m sweating before I start exercising!

Too small and crowded. Facilities are not impressive for what is supposed to be a top tier gym. There is a large amount of space reserved for a bar which I have never seen being used (it's not even staffed)

It would be good if they informed members by email when facilities are not working. This would give people the chance to plan to go to a different gym if they choose to. Quite often you turn up and the steam room is out of service within the spa area and so everyone piles in the sauna and it's too crowded.

Came here for my Pcr pre flight test. It was a little hard to find at first but inside the staff are very helpful and it was not crowded. All was very quick and friendly. I paid for a 'same day' result and was expecting it by midnight - it came through by email that evening about seven hours after testing. Great experience

At least 3 squat racks on the gym floor. Lots of cardio machines. Has 20m, 4-lane swimming pool, unisex Jacuzzi, gender segregated sauna and steam room. Also has a cold water plunge pool. Towels (small and large) are provided at reception free to take and free of charge. Lockers are locked with 4-number keypad. Can’t speak for any of the classes, as I haven’t experienced them.

Amazing place to go and work out, relax over a massage or spa'ing.. it is just lush and staff always there to help and make your experience magical. I am coming here for many years while it was CityPoitClub and will recommend it to every friend of mine or business partner. A little gem where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of London. More than 5*!

They have recently been updating the gym equipment. Lots of new machines to choose from. Big swimming pool, although it does get busy at times. Separate male & female steam & sauna. Towel provided, lockers don't require your own padlock.

Quite classic style health centre. Digital wooden lockers with spacious changing room. The pool was big and brilliant; They had a spa room with tiny steam and sauna room inside. The gym was compact but well equipped.

I love this gym ... the staff are incredibly friendly... people are complaining about the lay out but it was built in the 80s there isn't much that they can do about that .. and I personally think it adds to its charm... its not an intimating space its warm and welcoming the classes are fantastic the yoga teachers are amazing and the spin class on Sunday can't be beaten.... there's a plunge pool to ... if you only did two classes a week its worth the money... there is also a little cafe in there serving nutritional drinks ..

I went here using a day pass from Hussle. Generally a nice gym - a good range of equipment, and although I was there in the evening rush hour and it was quite busy, it was still mostly possible to find free benches, squat racks etc. The cardio area looked fairly quiet by comparison - maybe they could replace some treadmills with extra free weights space? Good locker room - a higher standard than other Nuffields I’ve seen, and nice that you don’t need to bring your own padlock. Loads of showers. As a newcomer I found the layout pretty confusing - the main gym floor is subdivided into several areas and it’s not immediately obvious where everything is, and it doesn’t have a lot of space for warming up. Finding the locker room and the exit wasn’t obvious either.

Don't understand why this place isn't getting higher reviews, been here a few times so far for my swimming lessons. Only been using the pool and it is great. Changing rooms and showers are clean too. No complaints at all.

Theft - Be careful of your valuables!! A colleague has had his watch stolen from a locked locker! It was not forced, meaning this may have been an inside job. Police have been called. Upon closer inspection of the contract, one of the clauses state that Nuffield are not responsible for theft. My view is that all of the lockers which are electric, should be replaced with physical locks, otherwise cleaners or others can easily access any clocker with the right devices, or people can watch the pin you enter. Lack of responsibility for theft is not transparent when joining and is not discussed in pre-joining meetings. You are encouraged to sign the conditions which are usually done there and then, so this is likely overlooked and not known by current members. Signs are not displayed in internal spaces e.g. the changing rooms etc. The gym itself is quite well equipped, though during peak times there is very little access to the main machines/ weights as it is far too crowded.

Showers occasionally cold, lockers are old and many of them don’t work, broken machines take weeks to be fixed, WiFi hardly works - all for a very steep price of a premium club

I used to be a member of this gym until I moved jobs. Customer service in this gym is excellent in terms of front desk, much better than elsewhere. The gym itself is also decently well equipped and has good personal trainers.

This place has serious capacity issues and it is clear they've over-sold. It takes 12 months or more for a generic health 360 appointment. They don't answer the contact centre phones so it's impossible to get through to anyone to make changes. It's shocking what Nuffield is able to get away with.

Booked a trial today, one of the staff member gave a tour around gym. After i told him that i want to use the equipment before i commit myself to monthly membership. He told me that I cant use it, and they dont have daily passes. How can u review gym equipment without even using it. Really disappointed.

Couldn't agree more with the review below. Went to visit Virgin last week because I want to do weight training but you have to queue to do this at Nuffield, and during lunchtime I simply don't have the time for this. It's super annoying. The weight area is super packed and way too small. Overall a very overpriced membership for what you get. I do have to say that the boxing classes on Tuesday are of amazing high standard, thanks for that.

I have never been to a gym before and was hesitant to join one. My manager referred me to Nuffield and I am glad I took the step. I find the staff very helpful and welcoming as well as the personal trainers are very knowledgeable as well. Works great with corporate discount. Special thanks to Sebastian and Darshana for making my experience great!

I really like this Nuffield! The staff are super helpful and welcoming, I don’t use the gym much, but it’s usually not too crowded at all and seems well equipped. The pool is on the small side, but seems clean, and the spa is really nice! Only issue is that you have to walk across from the gym side to the pool side changing rooms, but it’s not a huge deal and they let you use more than one towel :)

You have a great good size clean swimming pool but the water temperature is too cold. It is impossible to enjoy it, especially now in winter months. It is a shame, I would love to come in on Sundays and have a relaxing swim. Can't do that. Last time I was there froze to death, coughing all week after experience. I am sure you can find an expert in London who can adjust pool temperature to the right level. Maybe you are trying to save money on heating. Not a smart move. You will make your members sick.

I joined on the last day of September 2023 when they were doing a no joining fee promotion. Since then: 1. I wasn’t able to access the online workout videos and no one responded to my request for help for over 6 weeks. 2. The men’s spa was out of action for over a month. This was one of the main reasons that I signed up. 3. Swimsuit drier in the men’s changing room was broken for weeks. 4. It’s already a long walk from the changing room to the pool, they moved towels that used to be on the way between the two. This led to me being stood in a corridor in my swimsuit while a member of staff fetched one for me, all the time with people walking past me as they went through the corridor. Hugely embarrassing. 5. There was a used plaster stuck to one of the vents in the pool for weeks which makes me question how often/thoroughly they actually clean it. Quite disgusting. 6. Poor communication about relevant updates (such as the issue with the towels noted above). 7. They’re changing the electronic padlocks so you have to bring your own, which is an additional expense and inconvenience to have to remember to bring it. I complained and received a response from the manager, Louise Hilton, which was far from reassuring, nor did it illustrate any real attempt to resolve matters other than saying ‘I’ll get this checked’ and ‘I do apologise’. They offered me a few day passes (and a padlock!) as recompense, which doesn’t really act as compensation for the bad experiences I’ve had, and why would I want to subject any friends/family to this!? It holds itself out as a high-end, top tier gym, but from my experience it is far from that. The amount they charge is extortionate for what you actually get. You would be much better off going to a local leisure centre that probably has the same kind of facilities at a fraction of the price.

Visited today for first time. Did not feel like I was in a top tier nuffield. Receptionist was polite but not friendly warm and inviting especially as she could c my home was another gym. No explanation of the locker system (that even the regulars struggled to show it worked) The layout of the whole facility is ridiculous especially the distance from changing room to spa/pool. I did not stay to use the facilities seeking a refund of top up paid.
