David Lloyd Kensington

Gym Fitness center Spa and health club Swimming pool

😠 The worst customer experience in a Gym ever. Customer relations are terrible, they converted the gym from Harbour Club to David Lloyd overnight and I’m still struggling to be transferred to a same-tier Harbour Club. If I hadn’t paid a year upfront with false promises I would never use their services... People often mention club, staff, membership, great, David, experience, tour, clean, Sherif, service,

Ridiculous! !! They downgraded to David LIOyds club with only 1 week notice but require you 3 month notice to cancel your membership!! You pay same money but receive downgraded service. i.e., 1. They suddenly charge extra £10 for each Pilate class although you already paid for the same membership fee as before, and that’s the only worth class(they said this change is reasonable and you are forced to accept it😨😨). 2. you suddenly lost your right to access any other Harbour clubs. 3. they close private working space at 1st floor. 4.You can only take 1 towel from reception each time……you paid for Harbour club membership fee(higher than DL) and you don't have right to receive same service like before, because now DL is in charge. If you try to cancel your membership they will tell you please understand! DO NOT JOIN

It's like a maze, you waste sometimes trying to get to your destination. Also, it gets too noisy at times around the sauna and the steam room, I realised after several times that it was a personal trainer who usually invents his friends around to have fun. Also, it's always dirty, that include the gym floor and the changing rooms, and the spa floor is absolutely filthy. Great gym, but needs lots of improvements.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the latest reviews on this space. I joined for a full-year membership one month ago and would instead have chosen another club with what I have learned and experienced so far. Management cannot provide proper feedback and resolution on clients' queries; food is always stocked out, steam room without lights…for a week now, shower without right water exit creating a swimming pool under our feet facilitating disease and feet infections. Air conditioning is always complete blasting in very cool temperatures making it easy to have additional injuries and a good cold, and let's not forget about the energy that we all should be trying to save at the moment. I could go on and on. I hope the head office looks closely at how this club, in such a fantastic location in Kensington, is being managed so the members can enjoy the space and the classes. Positive or better 5 stars review for the excellent PT and instructor Juliana, that has been fantastic with his professionalism and knowledge in helping me recover from a surgery

This David Lloyd’s is quite decent but has its flaws. The gym is spread across a lot floors, specifically 4 floors deep. There are lifts to help you navigate through those floors, but getting from one place to another is maze… but you get used to it soon. Staff are really friendly. They allow you to keep cycles in a corner behind the sofas. There is no car park. You will have to park in Sainsbury’s. Gym floor is quite small, and not many machines (ect. only one bench press). Two separate changing rooms. One for gym floor and the other 2 floors down for the swimming pool, sauna and steam room. So it can get annoying when you want go down stairs. You have to bring your stuff all the way down.

Absolutely horrible, do not join. I signed up when it was still a Harbour Club and thoroughly enjoyed it, however they have since changed it to a David Lloyds and giving us only a one week notice without a possibility to get out of our contract. Quality and service has been going downhill since and it is impossible to receive assistance from the membership team - definitely won’t recommend anyone to join any David Lloyds following this experience

The potential is there but the low quality and poor service from onsite staff brings it down! I have asked to get the manager to call me 3 times over the past 2 months and still waiting for his call! Hence sharing my feedback here… - communication seems to get lost (clearly, as said above!) - class booking system is not clear (I ask to get an alert when a class is free and instead I get booked on and get a notification 1h before the class..) perhaps this is why most classes I go to have free space despite being fully booked?! - the cafe is good, but the food very simple. Better of to sell ready made food?? - tried to participate training at home however the video and app was hanging up all the time - Loading freezing- and I did not have poor wifi As said try to feedback on site but the staff doesn’t seem to get the message/request. -

The spa, reception area and cafe are decent. My concern is the gym. By far the worst gym I have ever gone to. Space wise, it is small, which I can understand. But for a gym which get populated very easily, why is there only 4 weight benches on the main floor? One full cable machine for the entire floor (functional trainer). Compared to all the other David Lloyd branches, this one is severely lacking when it comes to the gym. Going here during peak time is ultimately pointless unless you’re willing to dedicate 40 minutes of your total workout session to just waiting in line to use an equipment that is scarcely provided. Spoke to a few other members and their response is the same.

Lovely facility and reception staff - Just acquired a membership after being given a tour by Duncan; a truly excellent member of the team with great customer service. I strongly recommend speaking with Duncan on any and all matters - he is the man! He was exceedingly helpful and pragmatic as well as being a very down to earth individual. Great customer experience with Duncan and nice overall gym facilities have resulted in David Lloyd Kensington gaining 1 more happy member!

Been a member when it was Harbour club and the gym was properly run, clean and functional. Since it's changed to david lloyds, its gone free falling. The Spa area is filthy and unwelcoming, the lights in the steam room haven't been working for 5 weeks now. The shower in the SPA area fills up with water on the floor making it unpleasant and unhygienic. The floors are dirty. I hope things will get sorted ASAP and they make it back as an enjoybale place to work out and relax

Same feel as slytherin dungeons. Everything looks slimy and dirty. Plus air feels congested and stressful. Not even one bicep cable machine. Jacuzzi exists only theoretically. Pool has 4 lanes, but you have to guess what lane is what. I understand inflation but we do not mine towels from mars. Absolutely not worth it.

I had the worst experience ever in the club everything broken, no hot water for over 3 days, dryer spinner broken almost every month, left is awful old left, NOT full equipment there are many missing gym equipment. That’s why this club been rated 3 star ⭐️ I would rate it 1 star

Nice quiet (enough), the staff is great and very helpful. But misleading advertising as they don't have a spa. They only have a Jacuzzi, 2 saunas , one steam room at different places. So not exactly a "spa". But I loved the place for being quiet enough to relax and having separate areas for adults only. It's clean everywhere. I would recommend it for membership.

Great club! I have been a member for 2 years and have the best experience thanks to my PT: Sherif Elfadaly. Sherif will ensure your fitness goals are met whilst listening to your specific needs & priorities. He’s incredibly professional and pushes you to be the best you can be! I am very happy with my results and can’t wait to see where this journey will go. Thanks Sherif for being awesome.

Hi My experience here was extremely disappointing. The gym was not clean and I was unable to find help when I needed it. The fact you are only provided with one towel discourages me from joining. It never used to be the case - you could have as many towels as needed. It is a shame the gym has changed - it used to be a great place.

Pleased with joining David Lloyd gym especially this branch bit sceptical at first that it may be ‘just another gym’ - facilities are great just undergone a small refurbishment, really nice zen feel - classes such as Blaze have won me over - it isn't ‘just a gym’. Having read a great many reviews I have had the pleasure of training with Sherif Elfadaly - he is a lucid personal trainer. It can be challenging to find a personal trainer who ticks all the boxes - this you will find with Sherif he is authentic, knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. Substantial structure in the way he trains, creative in each of his sessions and is super motivating - no judgements, he makes you feel like you can succeed no matter what level of fitness you may be at. I'm not even into a few weeks of training and my momentum is sky-high from training with Sherif. He's professional and patient, I've always felt comfortable around him. Super happy to be a member here, look forward to fully utilize everything it has to offer (which is a lot!)

I joined the club during the pandemic (right after the restrictions were lifted) and have greatly enjoyed my experience! The Kensington space is massive, kept very clean, and has diverse equipment across multiple floors for all types of workouts. I have been training with Personal Trainer / Coach, Sheriff Elfadaly, who is by far one of the best trainers I've ever had! He is super professional and has customized my workout regime to what suits my fitness goals. I've seen incredible results and would highly recommend Sherif to anyone looking to get serious about their health, no matter how beginner or advanced you are, and to have a ton of fun in the process! Thank you for everything you do and can't wait to continue the journey 🙏

Just don't. They enrolled too many people, gym & facilities are always full and overcapacity. You have to be lucky to get the machine that you want. As for the pool... you would have a better chance at winning the lottery than getting a spot to swim in the pool. Jaccuzzi is always full as well. The locker rooms cabinets are all in use, people keep their things overnight and more. Shame on David Lloyd Kensington. You turned what was a comfortable & expensive gym 3y ago into an expensive, overcapacity and uncomfortable gym.

First time going to this club in years. Annnd 7 of us got stuck in the lift at closing. No communication from David Lloyds i had to ring my home club (range park) to get help as Kensington phone lines go down at closing. Fire brigade was the first communication from out side the lift. Made a formal complaint and there response was generic and ignorant. The spa was nice i will give them that.

This gym is fantastic, with friendly instructors and excellent facilities. The pool is definitely a big plus. It's never overly crowded, and even though it's a family club, you can easily avoid being around kids if you don’t want to. Special thanks to Duncan for the personnalized tour. Duncan was so nice and accomodating to our specific needs. I highly recommend it!

Joined this gym when it was a harbour club. Since then, the service has degraded massively. I can’t honestly understand how they can justify the prices for their bog standard service. The food at the cafe is limited and very poor quality. Overcrowded gym with not enough facilities. Contract that you have to sign is ridiculous. You’re better off joining Virgin active, for the same service but without being tied in for a minimum term. Half the time I was a member the lifts would not work. App is not good. When they transitioned from Harbour Club to David Lloyd they did not automatically reduce the fees. Instead they didn’t let me know I had to choose to pay the lower fees. Subsequently I spent several months paying a HC fee for a David Lloyd service. Money grabbing practises are diplorable. They have now responded to this review, trying to discredit me by saying they can't find my details. Even though they have been spamming me with calls and emails over the last few months. You have my details already, we have a dialogue over email. respond to me.

The bar team is amazing, all the team members are always positive and have smiles on there face and are always happy to help and answer any questions, I recommend David Lloyd Kensington as the gym to go too as it is a clean and welcoming club.

  • 2/5 edward b. 2 years ago on Google
I used to like coming to this harbour club as it is quiet and I can set myself up in a section to do my exercises. On my last visit I had set up like usual and then my area was completely taken over by two personal trainers working with one person. There was plenty of options for them to work elsewhere and when I stated that I was working out here and had everything set up they just ignored me. They then spent the next 30 mins running around grabbing different bits of equipment for their client to use and not putting it back nor letting others use it. They have become like a petulant child who takes their ball home when they don’t get picked at sports. The personal trainers should be more mindful and not act like they can do whatever they want.

Terrible experience, the place is dirty every time my son goes comes back sick which proves they don’t clean the kids area or crèche. The place is smelly and you get lost in it. Staff are only nice to win you over as soon as you sign they change. I regret all the money I wasted on the place wouldn’t recommend it at all. In addition they added payments now for attending things!

Very dissapointed with this club and will end my membership soon because they keep removing all the group classes. This week they have removed Zumba from the timetable. If you like group classes I recommend joining a regular David Lloyd club.

I am training with Sherif Fadaly who is a fantastic trainer. I have had many PT over the years and they tend to either be too hard on you from the get-go; or never rally ramp it up. Sherif started off careful, measuring my strength, flexibility and stamina and went from there. I was able to feel and measure improvement after 5 weeks already! Small but noticeable. He changes the workouts throughout the week so that it stays fun. He is a no-nonsense serious guy with a pleasant personality. The club is excellent and offers a lot for the price (two gyms, many classes, cafe, work areas, kids area).

Highend gym and sporting facility with a good pool. The location and size of the gym is unique. The good thing is the have a physio/ physical rehab called PURE attached to it so they then train you in the gym it self. Highly recommended

It is a great place, however the staff needs training. At times the staff take over the place, shouting, speaking loudly, eating from outside at the cafe ... sometimes you find 5 members of staff walking around, yet the place needs cleaning. The downstairs gym floor is really a mess ! the staff takes over the place, it its more like a staff area than a members club. I wish the manager instruct his staff better ...

UPDATE: David Lloyd have been in touch to say they can’t do anything about one of their own members stealing from lockers in the changing room. He escaped through the fire escape, how can they allow this?! AVOID! They allow thieves to steal phones and trainers from padlocked lockers. They checked CCTV and recognised the thief as a member but couldn't do anything about it. Ridiculous as fees are high and belongings should be safe (especially in locked lockers). Should revoke memberships if they're thieving. We shouldn't be have to fork out on the lost possessions which could get stolen again.

Members beware!!!! There are thieves operating in this gym. Stole a phone from PADLOCKED locker! DL don’t care about your belongings or banning these members. Only care about their image unfortunately. Please take your valuable belongings to the pool or gym floor, as you maybe come back to find they have been stolen!

Very welcoming staff and clean space. We were visiting from a different home club and the staff were more than helpful. Terrible sales team! I joined the club and I decided to cancel my membership within the grace period.
