Pro: nice open space and have a variety of activities. clean. Con: No drinking water. you need to bring water with you for your workout which is inconvenient. - Weights machines are old and definitely needs to be replaced. - Weights dumbbells are different brands and colours also the Weights dumbbells holder has no numbers to indicate where you have to place the weight back so you will see loads of weights on the floor or 10kg next to 35kg - Weights bars have many wear and tear. The rubber for most of them are gone.

The music is awful and they put ads wich are really offputting when exercising.Everybody wears headphones so I dont get why they have to blast such awful music.

Gym is ok overall but far from great. Main plus of this gym is its size and free weight section which is mostly sufficient. The problems are numerous though, some of the equipment looks ancient, could well be 30+ years old, then there is no water dispenser in the whole gym, which seems mind-boggling to me, they do not have enough weight plates which can make lifting heavy a chore, their homepage has incorrect opening times for the period between Christmas and nye, gym etiquette is not enforced by any of the trainers so most people do not care about bringing weights back, veryyy slow wifi and the men's changing rooms has basically no mirrors except at the entrance.

This gym is great and cheap. I have had memberships of better gym, pure gym, and the gym all in the local area. I have also tried Bannatynes and Virgin Active clubs elsewhere. For the money, this gym is spacious, the equipment is decent, there are plenty of machines and the trainers are great. I especially love Legs, Bums and Tums on Tuesday and Wednesday. In fact the trainers for those are so good I actually look forward to the next one each time, I wish they could have another 2 at the weekend. Because the gym is cheap, the people are more down to earth and the staff working there are polite. Nadia is especially really friendly. Better gym's corporate membership is 50 a month, 30 more than this, and the trainers aren't as good and you have to queue to go in when booking for a class. TheGym have those annoying caged gates that are a nightmare to open if your card stops working. Virgin and Bannatyne have those annoying touch button lockers that always go faulty. PureGym is alright but more expensive. Only downsides, and they are easily overcome: No water in the training area, you need to go to the bathrooms to refill bottles. And the bottles need to be 500ml or less to get into the sink. Only 2 ladies loos. No towels for hire/available. No wifi. Some of the more popular classes get full really quickly, and they don't really do pilates here (which is a shame because I would love a pilates class) Thank you fitness4less for helping my life without breaking the bank!!!!

This is a really good gym. Great location, well maintained, good value and not too busy outside of the lunch-time. The only thing that lets it down are the showers are not adjustable for temperature, that wouldn't be so bad if they were not so scalding hot! a problem exacerbated in warm weather.

Lovely atmosphere and pizza isn't bad (can recommend the porcine mushrooms if jot the margarita). Slightly strange lighting makes it all a fun experience, especially with one of their cocktails (again not the best, but good fun all the same).

Good gym, however there are some negatives, therefore I can’t give it 5 stars. 4 stars is quite generous. 1. One of the female toilets is out of use. There’s only two toilets and it would be nice if it was fixed sooner rather then later. 2. Not enough classes in the morning. 3. No water fountain. If you don’t bring enough water in your water with you, you have to buy water in a single PLASTIC bottle either from the gym or from the one of the local supermarkets. Not very environmentally friendly.

Great bare bones gym in a beautiful converted train trestle. Really good value for money too, especially if you sign on with one of the many promotional rates throughout the year. It's never so busy you can't find a spot and the space and equipment are plentiful. It's always clean and well ventilated and the changing rooms are well kept. Only drawback is no pool/sauna facilities but perfect for a quick lift-n-dash.

As a regular member I would definitely recommend this gym! 5 stars….great gym. Staff friendly and accessible, willing to give tips and advice when asked. Welcoming atmosphere. I have never felt intimidated as a woman, even in the weight area. Always see the cleaner working really hard to keep equipment/changing rooms clean and tidy, there is also plenty of spray and tissue to wipe equipment if required.

I really enjoyed going to this gym at this location. Classes and staff were the most favorite part. The price and offer value is amazing. If not moving to another location I would be still going there. Really recommend this place! Thank you!

Great price, reasonable equipment (including Olympic weightlifting area), free classes, but quite crowded during peak hours. *Edit* Additional star for the new equipment and moving the stupid Smith machine out of the lifting area!

For someone like me, who was once described as the most anti-fitness person ever, this gym changed my life (yeah it sounds cheesy but true lol). I've been going there for a year now pretty much every day. First I did that because it was conveniently a couple of minutes from work so I had no excuse not to go. If I chose a gym near my home I would have never gone for sure. What do I love about this gym? I love the architecture, I love the layout, I love the classes and I love the different tools and machines (apart from the kettlebells. Aluminium/metal handle instead of cast iron?! Seriously?! Whose 'brilliant' idea was that?! 🙄) . But most importantly I love the people. The 'gymrats' are as part of it as are the Trainers. There is a living, breathing community with a bunch of great people. Good atmosphere, great banter and a lot of sweat. It doesn't matter, if you're a man or a woman, big or small, strong or weak. Nobody cares while they all make you feel welcome. What else would you want from a gym? If I ever changed my job, I'd make sure to look for work in the area so I could keep on going to this gym.

Very good value for money - decent gym with all the equipment. Does get crowded at peak times but I just go to a class if that's the case. Staff have always been friendly too. Changing/shower rooms could be nicer but you get what you pay for!

Cardio equipment is never cleaned as it was, when the gym opened in 2011...sweat..sweat all over. Some members use powder for their workout and couldnot be bored to wiped equipment after use. 😕

Really pleased with the gym in all respects bar one - the smell in the mens showers is almost unbearable and the showers themselves are pretty poor. If they could sort out the smell it would be 5 stars and if they upgraded the showers id be recommending to everyone I work with...

  • 4/5 Rob 1 year ago on Google
Almost every aspect of this gym is a win, but having to stop your training on the frame because a PT is running a class for one person, is a bit pathetic. Also the showers in the male changing room are absolutely disgusting. Slimy floors and putrid smelling drains, do not a pleasant experience make. But, they're putting their prices up, regardless, so there's that ...

Full Review tbc: When on hired class - event not linked with gym Note - there is no water fountain. So bring lots of water! Staff friendly and easy going which is a plus. You can find the gym around the corner (not on a corner) underneath / past the bridge

No-nonsense gym with plenty of equipment and personal space. Minimal mirrors seem to deter the tiktokers and instagrammers, which is also commendable.

I love this place. I've been coming here for years, since it first opened. It's a large gym, with a huge variety of equipment and weights. Maybe nine separate areas depending on what you're wanting to do. Plus a large studio room for classes. It's a marked constrast from the typical high-end gyms which you pay much more for. Where you get the whole swimming / sauna experience, fresh towels etc. But their actual gyms are never nearly as good as this one is. Over the years they keep making gradual improvements in the types of equipment and layout, until it's now in an optimum state for all tastes. Pros: it's cheap, very large, laid back, friendly. It's got a lot of choices, accommodating almost any kind of exercise. Except swimming. Cons: there's no water dispenser, and I'm not a fan of the music.

It gets the job done, but it’s a very dirty and relatively poorly equipped gym with worn out machines and weights.

Decent gym with adequate equipment, one big minus would be lack of water fountain. For 35 pounds in Central is still probably the best value for money.

  • 4/5 Emilien A. 4 years ago on Google
The space is good and there’s a decent breadth of equipment. Biggest issue are the opening hours which are quite restricted for a central London gym (e.g. 6pm on weekends...)

  • 5/5 Carmine M. 5 years ago on Google
    Excellent gym with quality equipment.

  • 3/5 C G. 5 years ago on Google
Big, clean and well-equiped. Good distribution of the areas. However, there is no wifi connection and not even network signal, which makes it difficult for people who might need to answer important or urgent work phone calls. I have also noticed something strange: lockers are usually taken and locked while there are not many people working out, wondering if there are customers who will just "reserve" their lockers or use them as storage.

  • 4/5 Stefano C. 6 years ago on Google
Great gym, If you are like me and just want to do your own thing its great. Its basic but if you end up only paying around the £20 mark its more than fair. Many Pros, Cons: I have seen people just come with shoes off the street and then straight working out. Some of the mats then have gravel and other stuff of the street. Also so free weights have their numbers so warn off that you can't read what weight they are ( good be fixed by just writing on them with a marker).

I have been a member of the gym for over a year and it has been fantastic. The gym facilities, shower and changing spaces are brilliant, never too crowded and of a great standard. Classes and instructors make workouts fun and accessible. Staff very helpful and in particular Simon Gibbs, who has been excellent when dealing with membership and various other queries! Highly recommend!

I found this gym thanks to friend. It is very close to Southwark, but still easy walkable distance from Waterloo East. POSITIVE: Gym is spacious plenty of equipment, not necessary the newest stuff. Changing rooms spacious, clean showers. There is is number of different classes run through the day and you there is large numbers of personal trainers to pick from. NEGATIVE: Things are not fixed fast. During summer a shower cubicle was broken for more then 8 weeks. Now that same shower is broken again. First the watter was running non-stop for a week till they shut it down, so not environmentaly friendly. Now because of that another 3 showers are blocked so we have use of only 4 or 5 cubicles. One of the pully machines in room with free weights is broken for 2 weeks. Is it really so difficult to have it fixed? Stuff generally do not care about you unless you are one of the PT clients. You do hardly get "Good morning" or " See you next time" when coming or leaving gym. To put a cherry on the top there is one of the personal that is regularly playing guitar in the gym like there is nothing else do and no customers to look after. I guess I will need to start looking for new gym because this one is just going from bad to worst

I love this gym. First of all it is reasonably priced, so why pay more somewhere and get the same or less? This is the only gym opened every day (including Sunday) in this area, a big plus. And they have many classes, of all types, even Thai Boxing. They have plenty of machines and weights. In short: the best gym in this neighborhood.
