Getting increasingly frustrated with Soho Gyms. The pricing is high for what is frankly an average space. This morning for the forth time in 3 months I and 15 other members have been left stood outside waiting for a front of house member to open the gym. It's supposed to open at 6.30am at 7.20am I left having heard the gym was probably going to be dark for another hour. Always the same FOH person responsible for late opening. Leaving myself and many others wondering why Adrian still has a job, and how the management are going to compensate the members for such tardy behaviour. And also the personal trainers who are losing business because someone can't get out of bed when their alarm goes off. Considering how many other gyms in gone same price range that are available in central London. Maybe it's time to move to one that cares a little more about its members

Soho Gyms was sold a couple of months ago, and the atmosphere here in Holborn is increasingly funereal as the gym, a mere shadow of its former proudly idiosyncratic self, with ever more members and instructors fleeing the sinking ship, awaits it's final dismemberment and incorporation into the bland and faceless Pure Gyms empire: very sad. Very interested to see the belated response of Pure Gyms to my review. All I will say is that, during the 4 months or so that followed Pure Gyms purchase of the Soho chain, Pure Gyms treated Soho members in Holborn with an indifference bordering on contempt, making, so far as one could see, virtually no attempt to keep us on board. It is, therefore, hardly surprising that, feeling distinctly unwanted, most of us gradually drifted away, as did most of the very popular members of staff.

Disgraceful service. I am a movegb member and being a first time user did not expect the i interrogation i received when i arrived. Rude receptionist insisting on me producing some sort of pass. I AM WITH MOVE GB it is done by booking or post code! I have never had this with before. Definitely will not come back!

This gym forbids deadlifts, but it compensates for this by only having one squat rack. Luckily it opens at 7 which is probably too late to do a complete workout.

If you know what central line hell of a heat is than you wonโ€™t be a stranger to suffocating here in PureGym Covent Garden. Today is one of the hottest days this year and guess what none of the air cons are working here. I addressed this question to the manager and with no hint of an apology he just pointed at one of three ACs and let me know with a gesture and a raised eyebrow that one of them was. In fact it was only blowing barely cool air!!

Very well equipped, trendy but rather posy gym. Attracts a largely gay clientele.

Can't deadlift. They took over Soho gyms and they can't run it the same way, or even half as well. Ruined a perfectly good gym.

This gym needs a serious renovation, everything seams to be old, abandoned and quite dirty. They do have nice staffs and great space with wide range of equipment but a lift up to this gym is very necessary.

Denied a trial session here because I had a trial at their Farringdon branch 5 years ago. The monkeys behind the counter havenโ€™t got a clue what theyโ€™re doing.

EDITED! Soho gym has been bought by Pure Gym so I think this will change a lot. I've been going to Soho for more than 10 years... It's really sad that it's going to be swallowed up by a faceless corporate brand. I'll leave the original bit of the review as a little momento of what a great London brand Soho Gyms was... R.I.P Great gym. Been a member for years now... Nice atmosphere, friendly crowd. Perfect if you dont like corporate chain style gyms.

It's a basic enough gym but that largest problem I have with it is that it doesn't have any stations where you can grab a sanitary wipe to clean the machines. I find that appalling.

The original soho gym, has a good variety of equipment. Definitely worth trying out if your in the covent garden area. Their soho shakes are really nice and freshly made to order.

Been to a few gyms in my time and this one is pretty good. The staff are all lovely and knowledgeable and all the equipment works. Changing rooms and showers nice and clean.

Great gym but doesn't have as much as other PureGyms in terms of the functional area - no squat racks or bars in the functional area, no boxes, medicine balls only go up to 5kg, not many kettle bells etc. Loads of equipment for general weights workouts, though, and good range of classs. Staff are great and facilities are good.

The new Pure Gym maximises floor space at the old Soho Gym location. Thereโ€™s still some good equipment and itโ€™s well laid out. Itโ€™s a shame that the changing rooms have been minimised. I can imagine busy times will be uncomfortable as there are barely any lockers and even less space to change. Itโ€™s a ridiculous and unnecessary move by Pure Gym and one that is likely to cost them customers. More worrying is the mould building up on the windows. Thereโ€™s also no long term locker hire - which is odd as there is plenty of space on the gym floor for this. The 7am opening hour is also disappointing - given that this is in central London most users are office workers keen to get on with their work out in the morning.

So the gym is closing in March... What a shame used to be such a great gym when it was run by Soho gyms, pure gym have seen so many managers here since it opened perhaps 8 have come and gone it seems. Odd as it only opened last year. It was clear none of them wanted to be there to be honest as it's gone downhill at times, members dropping things, working out in jeans, leaving bags in places. The PTs from Soho that stayed were the best thing about this place. So friendly and helpful. All the new puregym staff were the complete opposite so farm

Admittedly I've only ever been here off-peak, but it has always been quiet and clean. Good use of space, I've always felt comfortable working out here.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my training here and that is 100% down to the staff. I'm still hurt that you can't deadlift or do any olympic weightlifting and that the range of classes has gone down in the past 6 months due to noise complaints but not really much you can do there. I really enjoy the classes at lunch and they're my favourite part of the day. AirCon is fine. I don't know what these people are complaining about. You're here to sweat. No? Please keep it up with your wonderful energy! (and bring back DLs.. I don't think I want to even fathom deadlifting on a smith machine ๐Ÿคข)

Positive points - The staff is friendly, the gym area is pretty good compared to other gyms in central London, plenty of free weights to use. Now the bad bits ... - Poor equipment maintenance (quite a few badly MENDED equipments) - Overall gym cleanliness is BAD (male changing room and loos are filthy), - AND they charge ยฃ1 to blend your own protein.

Fairly well equipped gym, no gym towels provided nor equipment wipedown supplies that I saw, so must deal with leftover sweat, etc. Men's locker room and shower clean enough, but you must bring own lock, towel, soap. Gym towels and locks are available for sale in machines (also cold bottled water), five quid each in July 2019. I think the water was 1.50. Air conditioning was completely overwhelmed by the July heat, must have been 85 degrees and 90 percent humidity inside the gym at times.

Nice chilled out gym, very few women go but that doesn't bother me. The staff are all very welcoming and just has a nice non corporate vibe,

The wifi often doesn't work (at least for me), the air circulation is not great and the equipment is a tad old. But to be honest the relaxed atmosphere and the friendliest and smiliest staff definitely makes up for almost all this.

17th of November 13.00 Circuit training in London Covent Garden branch is cancelled due to low number of people signing up. Isnโ€™t it ridiculous not to inform people who actually sign up and travel all the way to the gym?

Great gym! so convenient and very close to my work. Can get very busy in the evening after people finish work, which is why I recommend going in the morning or during your lunch break.

Been a member here since their opening as a Pure Gym. It works perfectly for me as my office is close by, and the gym floor is never extremely busy in the mornings when I am there unlike other Pure Gyms I've experienced (High Holborn, Great Portland Street etc), however the changing rooms are rather poor - They are very cramped and narrow, which of course is not a reflection on staff but a building limitation. Since Autumn 2019 the showers in the mens toilets have either not been working or only a few working. There is also almost always no hot water - not great in January!! Also - the hairdryers never have the attachments on them - If the cleaners throw these away please tell them not to :)
