The gym is far too hot. It it always around 20-22 deg Celcius (see clock thermometer photos below), which is warm even for sitting in, let alone working out in. I have asked over ten times for the staff to reduce the temperature, but it does not change, and in fact, has got worse recently. The staff seem to deliberately keep the gym warm because it's nice for them to sit in, despite making it a horrible environment to do any cardio in. It's a shame because it used to be good and not a warm, stuffy room

This gym location is perfect, at the heart of centre London; has complete set of exercise machine; has enough space for your exercise; and gym is always clean and tidy up. It opens 24/7. The Gym Group is a chain of no frills fitness clubs in the United Kingdom, based in Croydon.

Overall gym was okay but the biggest issue for me was that the pictures clearly show 2 boxing bags hanging in functional area and when I have arrived there was no any which is super annoying as it is half of my training session. Please update people on what is going on in the gym or at least update pictures that you have.

My first month at The Gym Bloomsbury was fantastic! On my first day, I had the pleasure of meeting the Manager, Felix. He was incredibly supportive, patient, and provided clear instructions, which made me feel welcomed and safe. The equipment is always clean and organized in the correct areas, and the classes are both fun and challenging. I highly recommend The Gym Bloomsbury to everyone!

Some notes after 3 months in this gym: 1. Cardio machines are too close to each other, they're touching in fact to the point of squeeking. And it really doesn't encourage social distancing. 2. The music is too loud! People generally wear headphones, so it's weird that the gym music is so loud. 3. I think PTs should encourage/tell people to clean up after using equipment. I've seen a lot of PTs just allowing clients to return equipment without even wiping it clean from sweat. 4. Every now and then there's a huge fly inside the women's changing room, around the toilets and the washup sink. Plus there's always some wet toilet paper scattered around when I visit on the evenings. 5. The mats are filthy, I'm always put off from using one even in classes. 6. I feel like the gym should provide reusable towels instead of paper towels for cleaning equipment. So much wasted paper for each equipment multiplied by the number of people who use that equipment per day. Maybe hang a small cleaning towel on each machine and replace it every few hours. And it's not just because of covid, but for general gym hygiene. Also, shouldn't people be required (or at least encouraged) to bring their own sweat towels? Overall, the gym is in a convenient location, has good classes, usually not so crowded. But I've rated it pretty low because of poor cleanliness and hygiene practices.

Easy to find this gym, it's cheap, and quite clean, got what you need, it's like based underground, it was quite busy the weight rooms and where kettlebells was, loads of rowing and bike stuff, i'm not too bother about that but everyone different, when I went it around 6pm ish time, there is classes, I only wish they had more kettle bells and spaces for people to do their own stuff but hey it's bang in the middle of London, for convivence it's great but better quality kettle bells needed and more 24kg, overall really it is what it is, it's like the mcdonalds of gyms.

I have used this gym for a few good years and always felt it was one of the best in the chain. However, the last couple of months the place is begun to decline. Equipment is rusty and broken. A toilet has had no seat for a few weeks. The general cleanliness is poor. No staff are around in the morning. But it appears the company has spent the increase of gym membership on new uniforms and new bins. Perhaps spend the money on fixing this gym instead.

This gym is an actual joke. They have maybe one of each machine but have about 50 people in at any one time. Guys doing 7!!! Sets on the single lat pulldown machine is just not acceptable. Anyone thinking about joining this gym good luck trying to get your workout in. Went here twice now and left angry both times. Do better.

Very large and spacious, spanning 3 floors. Equipment and facilities are all very well maintained and new. No rusty, squeaky or dysfunctional equipment. The crowd is quite pleasant too, as the gym affords quiet hours at many times of day. Itā€™s never been overwhelming crowded anyway. A great gym for sure

The staff are great. I go to a number of different The Gym's in London regularly and this one is by far the best. The weights are always put away in the correct place and arranged in order too. It's clean and tidy. The showers are hot and not lukewarm. My favourite The Gym.

This is not the picture of the gym. You have to be careful with your belongings, 2 pairs of shoes are gone! So , the people who are there, as a member, are not trustworthy. Took 4 months for having hand wash soap, the spray cleaning is just water inside, it is not actually any cleaning product. Try it for yourself! Managers are nice, though. Some PT trainers will not give you 1 lesson to try it, even if you pay for one,,most of them on the phone whilst training you. They don't pay attention to you.

Joined this unit of the branch a few months ago after moving addresses, and unfortunately, it has been a disappointment. The main reason I joined was the classes, but those are constantly canceled without warning (you are informed the moment the class was supposed to start), and if they do happen, the instructors either start or finish the classes late, clearly without having prepared for it in advance. Seems like they treat it more as a "your turn to deal with" situation. Equipments are good, but they're constantly closing down.

The surrender areas is well allocate with friendly pub's and restaurants within a large Waitrose allocated on the internal area of the Coram Street shopping,šŸ¤©šŸ¤©

Well its not terrible. But it's got the vibe of : I want to exercise, but I have to suffer here because I'm too poor to afford a better gym. At 6-8pm every machine of worth is taken up. The majority of the crowd is a mix of international students, slightly strange looking people and men that look like they work in vape shops or on screen repair stalls. For me I go there for the bikes and have a little ride round. Which is fine. Even at 6pm. Same goes of you wanted to do any other form of cardio I haven't got the mental capacity to stand by some machine and wait for an indeterminate amount of time As the place is underground also. The ventilation could be better. But it's ok. It's not the cool breeze youd like but not as stuffy as first feared but I imagine at the beginning of COVID this place was a super spreader event for sure. I bet my BO frpm yesterday is still wafting it's way around the building So overall. If you want to exercise a bit. your poor and options are limited, this place isn't a disaster, especially if you just want to jump on some cardio equipment.

I have been a regular at this gym for the past year and a half. The gym is always clean and the machines are properly maintained. There are several levels at the gym so there is something for everyone! The staff are incredibly nice and are always willing to chat and offer advice. All in all itā€™s perfect for students and beginners. Also shout out to Brad, the best and friendliest PT!

  • 3/5 Rob S. 2 years ago on Google
So, been here 3 days. Biggest annoyance is only one back roller and a broken one and there is a lack of attachments for cable machines. There is a distinct smell of wet dog and BO that wafts around every so often but I think it's just because the ventilation can't cope. It's not very crowded that I've noticed, generally good capacity. Though I wouldn't normally go to a gym between 5 and 8 pm. It's going to be busier with all of the work leavers. Range of equipment is fine. Plenty of room to stretch and a good range of dumbbells.

A very clean gym with a decent amount of space between the machines. The staff are very friendly and tends to your needs very quickly. There are many machines and offers gymnastic equipment and a boxing bag. However for the price you are paying there is only one squat rack and bench press so you may not get a chance to use them during peak hours.

I have been a frequent visitor of this gym for a few years, very close to my workplace, always clean and after covid, less people started to come so even better for finding more machines available. I was lucky enough to bump into one of the gym managers who approached me and showed me how I was doing my exercises, which wasnā€™t entirely correct. One thing led to another and offered to show me how to use the machines and equipment that I still struggle with. I can definitely recommend this gym for people who like to feel looked after - even besides him, all staff here is super nice and friendly

More than decent quality gym with enough equipment and space, in a convenient location. Some issues with weekday crowding, the layout, and the odd equipment issue (e.g. broken lockers) but ultimately it's more than good for the (very comfortable in London) price you pay! Staff keep to themselves unless asked and are friendly if needed; You get in a fair workout if you plan to go in the quieter hours. Totally recommend.

The gym has all the things you need and the people/staff are fine, one of the 2 mens toilets has been broken for at least 3 months though. I think my problems lie with management. 1) the gym is always packed, they really need to limit memberships otherwise even at quiet times you will wait to use any equipment (midnight to 6am is ok though). 2) no free scales, the machine that used to weigh you for free and do extra for a price is now only paid. 3) when I cancelled my membership they cut my access despite having another week left I'd paid for.

8 months later and the WiFi still doesnā€™t work lol. Every time it reopens after maintenance, a new leak and bucket appears. And it closes down a lot. Bit of a cheek to tell us to travel further away to go to a different branch which isnā€™t 24hoursā€¦ The only good thing about the space is, itā€™s almost empty after midnight. The cleaners are great and friendly too. Itā€™s a shame the members take advantage by leaving weights all over the floorā€¦ Ps, if you donā€™t need the showers, working out after midnight then youā€™re good as gold. Pss, it can be a bit awkward when you find a lot of people take advantage of the gates (two people crammed together to get in a time), making it dangerous at night for the others.

Prepare to be locked in for hours as their exit/entrance doors donā€™t always work and they donā€™t pickup the phone to help. Itā€™s an underground gym and there is no reception while at the same time their Wi-Fi is unstable. They wonā€™t even apologise because itā€™s the cheapest option so they know they donā€™t have to do their job.

Quality gym, staff and equipment. Exactly what I needed for a few days just to keep my head on straight each morning before I began my day. Great expansive weights area with plenty of both free weights and machines and the cardiovascular section was extensive too. Even when its busy, there is still plenty of room and I would definitely re-visit on a future trip.

Great fun every time I go here. If you get stuck with anything all the trainers are here to help. The staff here actually care about you and why you are here. They are also buying new equipment and listening to their members. They are having some problems with some leaks at the moment but the management seem to be on it.

I would say it is very convenient. Nice showers, lovely staff... One small negative is the internet, I never usually complain about the wifi cuz I usually use my 4G but because it is underground, 4G is very limited and non existant in some areas of the gym. Friendly staff. It is not my home gym... The other negative is how busy it can get... so busy especially in the weights area. I have to mention that they do make the most out of the space available with a lot of equipment but it's central London so it will be busy most times...

Joined the gym for a short period of time as I studied in London for a semester. I found the location and the fact that the gym was open 24/7 especially convenient. I would suggest that the gym provides more ways to let users wipe down the equipment as sometimes the spray bottles/wipes werenā€™t available but other than that the gym was always kept clean. The team seemed super nice, although I did not have much interaction with them personally, from what I observed they were extremely friendly and helpful.

Just recently joined and love it already, nice atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, good equipment, place is clean and has plenty of equipment of all sorts. I went at the busiest time of day one time to see how it was - occasionally had a little bit of a wait for a machine but nothing too long and I could just do other stuff in the mean time. At any time other than 5:30pm - 7:30pm there really isn't a wait. Compared to my other nearby gyms, Pancras Square Leisure is much more expensive and Anytime Fitness in Kings Cross... I mean... just look at the reviews, lol. Also, bonus points to whichever comedy genius at The Gym put an 'Every Squat Counts' sign in the toilet cubicles, lol. My only slight grumble would be how warm it gets in there - lots of people working out in an entirely-underground building - the air con could do with being a bit better. But it's a really minor complaint. Definitely would recommend this place. Edited to add: oh also, towel loan would be nice - you have to bring your own :(.

I have been training with Luis @luislopez.fitnesscoach for several years now and he is the best PT I ever had. I like this gym. Itā€™s clean, the staff are great, the kit is great and the customers are all very chilled out. Just a couple of things I would change: Thereā€™s about 150 lockers in the menā€™s room, but only 16 of them are full size. The rest would only fit a backpack. All the good lockers are in high demand (and in weird places). I donā€™t understand why we canā€™t have more big ones. Secondly, the gym closes inexplicably every few months for 2 days for a ā€œrefreshā€. Itā€™s not clear whatā€™s being refreshed, but it does cause a lot of inconvenience (they let you use another gym about a mile away). The music can be pretty loud. Lots of people have headphones on, so donā€™t know why it has to be so loud. Overall though, the gym tries to be part of a community. They do food bank collections and sometimes have competitions. The PTs are pretty chilled out and donā€™t try the hard sell. You can definitely do a full workout and I recommend it.

Fairly big gym. Good equipment but dumbbells only go to 38 kilos. More of a fitness center than for weight lifting. Clean. Finally turned on the heat after being 12 degrees inside. No matter how much artificial light you put in, basement gyms suck.

  • 4/5 Meera A. 2 years ago on Google
Itā€™s generally a good gym, however some equipment are missing such as hyper extension and more squat rack stands as you end up waiting for the squat rack stands to become available for an unnecessary long time. It would also be great to have a hip thrust machine and full length mirrors. The upstairs space could be used to have more equipment. I think this is a good gym for beginners and those who attend classes.

Got a day pass here to workout during a few days stopover in London. Itā€™s surprisingly spacious and has all the racks, barbells, dumbbells, and cable machines youā€™d want. Facilities arenā€™t fancy, but they seemed clean and well-kept.

Equipment is in good condition but there is an absurd number of treadmills (and other cardio equipment) as opposed to benches and deadlifting racks. I would understand if they were used, but I often go in during peak hours and under half of them are used. If you want a slightly better weightlifting area, I would recommend the Caledonian Road location.

Good gym! Spacious, big free weight room area, great range of equipment, range of cardio machines & very spacious area for stretching/ classes. Only downsides are the WiFi trips quite a lot & it's a real shame there are no hairdryers in the changing rooms

Will be making this my regular gym. Very nice and friendly staff team. Jordon in particular was a great help, very polite and made me feel welcome. The gym is a nice, clean environment and has all the equipment needed. Highly recommend this gym for anyone looking!

I joined The Gym Bloomsbury last year and I am really happy to continue training here. I would definietly give 5* to the gym staff as they are really lovely people who are always willing to help. They provide a really high standard of classes and treat everyone individually. The only thing that could be improved is the system of classes, as sometimes is not updated on the app and it makes things a bit confusing.

By far the best branch in London and Iā€™ve been to many of them. Itā€™s always kept clean and the staff are always really helpful and polite. Would recommend AndrĆ© or Adam if anyone is looking for a PT, their knowledge and attention to detail is second to none and you wonā€™t be disappointed. The only slight issue Iā€™d say is the WiFi is really slow!

Great Gym. My whole family use it. Friendly atmosphere, well equipped and can throughly recommend the quality of the personal training. Valentin Apetrei is a very talented PT.

Been in this group gym member for a couple of years now and it's my favourite branch by far! The members are lovely (Rem, Balazs, Andre, Ross, Brad..) - they are helpful and a friendly bunch. The gym is a decent size with a variety of equipment I need. Please can you get a hyper extension machine for this this branch though!

I have been to several The Gym branches. The Gym Bloomsbury is by far the best one i have been to, in terms of equipment, classes, members and staff. The staff is so so friendly and incredibly supportive and greet you when they see you. It feels like a great team and this clearly comes through in a very positive environment in the gym overall. The classes are great fun, with good variety and very inclusive. Absolutely smashing it!

Fantastic place to start my gym journey as a beginner. Very clean, with an array of equipment to use. Variety of classes to suit all capabilities & very attentive class instructors/trainers who are incredibly professional & without fail make each visit a very pleasant one. Highly recommend The Gym Group Bloomsbury :)

Good gym for the price. Has everything you need for a good workout. Lots of cardio and various weight machines. Can be busy at peak hours, but has never been overcrowded in the months I've gone

Itā€™s open 24/7 which is very good. The lack of staff sometimes makes it a bit annoying if you need assistance but otherwise itā€™s very well kept. It can get really crowded and hence sometimes the machines are not as clean as one would wish.

I've been attending the Gym for a year now. Well-equipped: provides all the tools for an effective workout. Quite spacious and clean: ample space on the first floor for classes and activities (bookable free classes with PT!); conforms to cleanliness and hygiene standards. Professional: PT-s are readily available, just choose yours. I recommend Valentin Apetrei, a versatile and talented trainer with deep knowledge and expertise. He is a pivotal figure who will gurantee your success. He has built credibility and trust with many clients. Friendly: the staff is warm and supportive. GM Felix Igor has created a boosting atmosphere with a vibe and a knowledgeable professional team that prioritises your well-being. Just try it!

Excuse me, I have a question, I am coming to London from the 23rd to the 26th. I would like to know if it is possible to practice a minimum of sport in this room and how much is the price for a day without a subscription

With all the respect for the staff, but the gym is awful. It is extremely overselled. There are just too many people. There is always a queue for EVERY piece of equipment and the gym is very small. And they keep selling and more memberships, it's just getting busier. Also, seems like they pay for reviews here, I just don't see how this can be 4.5 stars. The only advantage is that it costs 10 pounds per month with the discount from my employer. I go there only because there is no better choice around and where I live.
