Poor staff / I’ve tried to give constructive feedback but no one listens. Poor customer experience. Lots of basic gym equipment missing. Happy to change review if anyone at the gym actually wants to call me and listen to my feedback again and try to resolve issues. Update: not only had no one contacted me the gym manager (Ali) has lied on a public forum (Pure’s own website where this review was posted) to say he has. I’m not sure if it’s the culture at Pure or just this gym, but all very disappointing. At this stage I would take any tangible gesture of goodwill (a call perhaps?) to change my review and experience, but I guarantee none will be forthcoming from this gym. Update II: Pure's response has changed. It used to say "we have contacted you to discuss the matter" (which was simply not true). Pure has more details and is choosing not to contact me to discuss. This shows really how much Pure cares about its customers. The whole gym has a bad culture. When you have a manager like Ali who is disrespectful to members, members don’t care and leave gym equipment lying around, have a hostile relationship with staff etc. Something needs to change

The gym's hours are inconvenient for my schedule. Closing at 10 pm on weekdays and 8 pm on weekends is frustrating. Blaming local licensing is a poor excuse. The gym should prioritize its members' needs and find a solution. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a busy schedule. Find a gym with better hours.

Grubby. Looks, feels like I would catch covid in that place. When I arrived, there looked like vomit in the wash bowl. Had I not paid for a month I would have run a mile. I couldn’t see a single trainer till one came to kick us all out. Not a single cleaner either. Is that how it’s meant to be? In my opinion too many people allowed at any one time. The first treadmill I got on wasn’t working. Bins overflowing everywhere. Once my month is over I will not renew. Scared to go back quite frankly.

Amazing gym. Been traveling for a few months and this is one of the best gyms I’ve found. I was a bit skeptical before because it’s a chain but in the end, totally worth it. Plenty of dumbells and free weights for olympic lifters. Machines and cardio space as well. Stretching and boot camp areas for dynamic training. Locker rooms are spacious and have clean showers. Keep in mind you need to register on their website and pay as you want. You’ll get a pincode to enter/exit the gym. There are no staff to help up. Only thing I would add would be a sauna!

Staff seem pleasant. However what really let it down for me is how unbearably packed it is. If you do an hours workout usually, allow an extra half an hour or more as you most likely won't be able to access the equipment you need due to crowding. By the time you've waited for the equipment sometimes my pumps gone so I just feel like going home. It's impossible to have a continuous high intensity workout in this gym unless you're using one machine perhaps, but you'll be bombarded with people wanting to jump on it between sets too so it's just a waste of time in general. (Understandable that people ask to jump on as they're desperate to workout too and its obviously everyones gym so I'm not blaming them at all.) I have a workout just for bayswater gym it's a simple 3 exercises workout as I know I won't be able to access anything else within a reasonable time. I'd pay double for this gym to be 24/7 and the recent renovation has amazingly made it even more crowded and poky by the weights section. 😭 The staff do seem friendly like I mentioned so thats a plus though I haven't given any feedback to them because unfortunately if the issues I've mentioned could be changed they would have already I imagine. I appreciate whoever read this whole review though.

Cycling class. I went 2 days ago and I was horrified by the behaviour of this new instructor, he started by mistake the class earlier and some girls they come on time for the class and he was very rude and kicked them out saying that they don't have respect and they disturb his class even shouting at them "get out and close my door", they went to the supervisor or manager don't know for sure because almost all the staff is new and he managed to speak with the instructur and let them in, and during the class i was checking the time on my phone because the clock that was on the wall was not there anymore and I had straight after the yoga class and I wanted to make sure I go there on time, he insulted me because I was checking the time on my phone he said some disrespectful words and he told me to get out from his class because I am not allowed to look at my phone. Really? I'm not paying for this gym to go there and be insulted. I will go to other gym this staff behavior is not acceptable.

Absolutely ridiculous. So called Pure Gym Personal Trainers behave like they own the equipments and need to use most of weights for their 1 client. Nobody would behave like this in a gym, people share equipment but it looks like, this is not a case if u are an employee. Extremely rude attitude. Really disappointed, never seen anything like that in other chain gyms.

    (1) Poor equipment (poor diversity and zero equipment for calisthenics, only one bench press and constantly busy), (2) staff cleaning machines while you are working out spreading the dust over customers, (3) zero reasonability when I forgot my lock and was carrying my bag inside (they asked me to purchase a lock), (4) showers always smell bad, (5) overcrowded unless you go very early in the morning, (6) poor WiFi signal upstairs, (7) a poor woman constantly cleaning the male changing room while people are showering. Of course there will be someone in the staff now thanking me and apologising but when you have any kind of problem or an offline complaint no one is really willing to help

Overall, my experience at this gym was unpleasant and disappointing. I would not recommend this gym to anyone who wants a quality workout experience. The overcrowding, unpleasant odor, and poor equipment maintenance made it clear that the gym does not prioritize the comfort and satisfaction of its members. Save your time and money, and find a better gym to work out at.

Typical PureGym, plenty of space, plenty of equipment. Would be happy to award four stars for the facilities, although the men’s toilets are always in a terrible state. The reason this gym is getting a two star review, is because of the members that use it. Nobody who goes here has any clue how to use the equipment properly and have clearly never been to a real gym, where you would be expected to tidy your weights away after you use them! Complete lack of gym etiquette shown by all but a few. You will see people leaving weight bars fully loaded, dumbbells all over the floor, etc. At best a complete lack of respect, at worst a health and safety nightmare. Staff seem more interested in carrying on their own private conversations amongst themselves than actually tidying any weights away, although admittedly, this would be a full time job. There are no antibacterial wipe dispensers and nobody wipes down the equipment after they use it. If you’re serious about your training then find somewhere else. Not recommended

Joined three weeks ago and already regret it, despite the low fees. Basic equipment as you would expect in a discount gym, but generally in working order. Gym is crammed with equipment and has an odd two-floor layout with low ceilings in some areas. Unpleasantly crowded most of the time (exception: treadmills). About half of customers seem ‘normal’ (student and office worker types), the other half is questionable at best. Low hygiene standards: no paper towels and cleaning spray available – never seen this in any other gym! – yet signs reminding customers to wipe down equipment. No one does, obviously. Gym staff is rarely present. Bathroom and changing room cleanliness is lacking about half the times I’ve been there. Inconvenient to find a parking space – most streets are residents only any day of the week. I’ll look for another gym soon.

Nobody to open the gym this morning December 31st , managers arrive an hour late , members standing outside waiting for 1 hour, others turning around and going home, very Poor Show Pure Gym, not a good way to end 2019 and putting off new members from joining

Not the best gym I've used, not the worst. Staff here need to enforce the members' code of conduct. Too many people don't re-rack their weights, or behave appropriately. Ends up making a session annoying.

WAY too small for the area. Having used PureGym Shoreditch and Bristol, this is by far the worst. No staff to organise the dumbells after closing (as they do with the other gyms, it helps police the abusers and encourages everyone to keep the gym tidy). To give context, at 08:30am Shoreditch had 66 users and Bayswater had 43, however Shoreditch is double the size in terms of free weight equipment (more squat racks, more benches etc). As others have said, it could benefit from more staff, more cleaning and more free weights. Probably ok if you just want machines. Glad I only had to stop in for 2 days, would recommend looking for other options if you want to use regularly.

Well, to put is straight forward, if you're an educated, emphatic and clean person you should not choose this gym as you'll definitely be dissatisfied. Nobody is cleaning the machines after using them nor remove the plates/weights regardless if you ask them or not. Most of the trainers (not all of them) don't mind doing the same thing without any remorse. So in my opinion you should avoid it as they are plenty of other gyms in the area or close to Hide Park as well.

This gym has lots of equipment which is great, however, no one ever seems to clean them. I always make the effort to wipe down equipment before and after use, but I haven’t seen anyone else do the same. Although there are sanitizer stations, they are often empty and I have had to ask staff if they could refill them. The people that work there aren’t very friendly and seem full of themselves - not a encouraging environment. I only like one staff member as he always lets me finish up my set before closing and told me he was shocked to see someone cleaning the equipment! Today just before closing one staff member yelled at me several times to get off the machine and out the gym when I was finishing up my cool down… so rude.

I've trained here on and off since around 2018. If you time the workout times using the app and/or Google busy times, it's usually OK. But still, it can be unexpectedly busy. It isn't often I can do my plan A workout in this gym, but there are enough backup options. So it's OK, but just not optimal. It would be nice to see more 20kg plates and more free weights and less machines but that is just what suits me personally. A member of staff to put dumbbells and plates back would also be an improvement as it turns into an absolute free-for-all during peak. I wish this one was 24 hours, as I have to use both Bayswater and Hammersmith if I need to train during the night.

Horrible. On vacation and wanted to get a day pass. Could not even get in the gym because the door to enter is like a tsa security checkpoint. When I pressed for assistance no one came. Two of the employees saw me waiting outside and asking for help they just shrugged their shoulders and walked away. Disgusted. What a dump.

So good! I remember before renovation they had just one squat rack and it used to get a bit crowded but ever since renovation it’s the best gym I’ve been to. Prices are amazing, can’t really complain- equipment is new and great state. Generally super clean. Haven’t tried a class so can’t say about that. The only issue is, if something breaks it generally takes quite a while to repair it, most machines have a second in the gym so it’s not a huge deal either but just one small con. Apart from that super great value.

Why are there only boxing classes on Monday??? Most of us work until 5:30-6pm and cannot make it to the gym on time. This is super frustrating considering that this unique class can take place on a Saturday or Sunday. Please look into it and make the necessary changes. We are paying for a membership after all.

Well equipped & the staff are super awesome. Love their classes too - just tried LBT and Constantino was great - I'd give him 5***** ratings if i could! Other than that, gym does get very busy (I go on the app and check how many people are there... then decide whether to go) wish it was 24hrs though.

Not the best PureGym I've been to. Understandably the premises isn't huge so the space has had to be used carefully however it just seems a little dim lighting wise. Staff seem nice. I wouldn't say approachable as it feels more like they're all Personal trainers who are there just to serve their clients. However they smile. Sometimes that's enough. :) All in all. It's a budget gym. You get what you pay for and to be fair, for 29.99 a month in this area, this isnt too bad.

Excellent venue, large and airy, has a lot of machinery for workouts but also has sufficient squat racks for Olympic weightlifting. Has also a large room for classes and many cardio machines. Sufficiently busy when I visited in the afternoon. All in all, I liked the place, newly refurbished so all equipment is new, very nice to workout in such a venue. The coaches lineup is also sufficiently large should one need additional guidance. Staff who did the tour was extremely friendly. I recommend this neighborhood gym!

Excellent new gym which officially opened on February 29, 2016 in the same building where there used to be an LA Fitness facility. Completely refurbished, it features a body building area, a cycling room, lounge and changing rooms with showers and lockers on the ground floor, and various cardio machines on the first floor. Cheap monthly price with no minimum contract, access with passcode, lots of free classes every week and friendly staff. Only "downside" is that the personal PIN code must be typed not only every time one gets in and out of the gym, but also when accessing the locker room, but I guess it's for increased security.

Absolutely ridiculous the gym isn't open until 0630. For those that want to get a full gym session in before having to travel anywhere for work it's far too late. There's a massive queue every morning when it opens and it's a race to get on the equipment. If it were open earlier, it wouldn't be so busy when it opens. Won't be visiting again.

YOU’LL GET BETTER SERVICE AT A POUND STORE. Absolutely the worst client experience in London. I needed help to set up a travel pass, I spoke with Ken, AGM for 30 seconds to be dismissed to basically set it up myself. He didn’t explain a 3 session travel pass expires after 3 consecutive days. This was not clearly written on any receipts or confirmed in any emails. As a tourist from NYC, this makes no sense. Most visitors will have a busy itinerary and will have workouts scheduled at their convenience. I had to pay another travel pass to gain access this morning. John at front desk had no empathy or understanding and expressed to me this has happened to other clients in the past. This is a client experience issue and directly comes from lack of communication from management to staff about client resolution and the lack of clarity in their receipts of these policies is unacceptable.

I have had Bayswater Puregym membership for almost a year now and I have only good things to say! I was a bit intimidated in the beginning as I am not used to going to the gym alone and lifting weights but the staff there is incredibly friendly and helpful. They also have great facilities and space. Something for everyone - lots of dumbbells and variety of machines, cardio space, stretching and dynamic training areas. Every now and then I like to do a class and these are fun too as you can feel that the instructors are genuinely putting effort to make the class enjoyable for everyone. The only thing to be aware of is that it gets a bit busy during peak hours (6-7pm) but I feel like that happens in every gym. Also so far everyone has been friendly to share the equipment if needed and you can look from the app how many people are in the gym and when it’s the busiest. So would be smart to work around that if possible.

The gym needs to be cleaned properly. The team need to tell users to wipe down gear they use. The personal instructors can see the person they training didn’t wipe it! The staff don’t really cate what goes on in there. The power plate needs to be somewhere, where we can use it!It’s in the corner, absolutely filthy and in poor condition. There are no bar bells. This Gym is in a good location, and has decent amount of cardio equipments. The weight training area is good however it would be better if people put the weights back in place if they are not using it. The classes are fine but I have seen better gym classes although they are at a higher cost. The personal trainers are mainly focused on their clients and would not really help other members.

I like this gym. I always see staff on the floor and always see at least one cleaning the machines. There are designated “Help spots” you can go to if you need to speak to someone. Reasonable monthly price, well equipped for my needs. Only thing I quite mind is that it smells from sweat the minute you enter (I mean yeah we go to the gym to sweat right) but still think there should be something done about this and also everyone on their phones hopefully not recording.

Extremely loud music and busy and everything is occupied all the time. Was toxic enough for me to leave without finishing my workout. Won’t visit again.

Good gym, many weights and machines, everything you need to complete your workout. A bit busy sometimes. Overall great value for the price. 🏋🏻‍♂️

Great for UK people with UK bank accounts. Does not provide for immigrants or tourists. Highly escalated prices for visitors. Hopefully managers will rethink. Cannot join with visa.

I joined recently and am very impressed with the standards of the gym, equipment, staff. It’s very friendly. The quality of the machines are Matrix. They play good music too!

Facilities have been renewed recently and is now an incredible affordable gym. Well done to the team who look at exactly how folks were using the gym and changed the layout and put new machines to match exactly that!

I mainly use the cardio equipment during off peak times so can always find plenty of free machines.

It’s a functional gym and has everything needed for any workout. However, the ventilation could be better. Aircon doesn’t work most of the time. The cardio area upstairs could have better air circulation. There are often leaks. Ground floor could have another cleaning station near the entrance

    Good place, but so small.

Convenient gym, in a very good location close to Hyde park, Notting hill gate. The nearest tube station is bayswater. The gym is split in two floors. Ground floor where the changing rooms are and some equipment and the cycling studio. More equipment on the 1st floor. I hope the extend the late working hours as some other branches of puregym the pin access system is there so it shouldn't be that difficult. Enjoy your workout guys

I have been coming here for almost 2 years. People are nice, personal trainers are super friendly and helpful. They refurbished the gym a few months ago and now it's even nicer and complete. I can not give the five stars because even trying to be polite and nice in this review... The gym is always dirty and the changing room (ladies) is disgusting. No joke, amazing for a workout and meeting nice people, but the cleaning... I just would like to respond to whom replied to my review: It's not my work to tell the staff (cleaners) that the gym isn't cleaned properly (this is about who cleans, not about the personal trainers who shouldn't need to clean anything in the gym as they are PTs)

Constantino is excellent as a sports professional! He always brings into the class such an amazing vibes! He has great energy and now how to to transmit it to us. Great classes, workout and you end up being happy when you have had a bad day. I would highly recommend him:)

It's worse after the renovation. There used to be properly spaced running machines (now they all are just bunched together in a row, which is terrible, or alternatively, there are some by the entrance - are even you serious about that, I thought it was only for the actual renovation period); and it was possible to use the room with mirrors as an area to stretch, exercise on a mat, dance, whatever, when not used for classes, but now that that room is closed and the new stretching space most often is simply not enough for everyone, especially in the evenings. So disappointing.

The gym seems mostly clean, wipes & disinfectant are still provided for members to mop up their sweat from benches. However it is concerning to see large patches of black mould that have formed on walls and ceilings from moisture & condensation. It would be good if management can find a way to dehumidify the gym and keep it well ventilated to prevent recurring mould forming in the gym space.

Good for the price. Has all the equipment you may need. It’s an ok gym, great price but there’s mold on the walls which has been growing. Showers don’t have great pressure.

PureGym SAVEHALF deals’ EXCLUDES the Bayswater PureGym branch. Taken discrimination to another level…….how sad. False advertising and misrepresentation.

At PureGym Bayswater you don’t just have one personal trainer but a whole team to ensure you make the most out of your workout. The managers Matt and Ken work hard to create a sense of community and to make sure members feel heard and valued. John, Daniel, Nyall, Jordan, Max, Constantino, Silvia and Tony always bring their personalities and diverse fitness backgrounds to the classes making them dynamic, challenging and uplifting.

Gym is grate. Management is poor. Gym Management is not able to implement gyms own rules. Even though they are pleasant people.

👍👍 Fitness first on Baker Street is a great gym. More than that-- given the location in prime Marylebone this is a gym that is so good I have felt lucky that a gym as good as this exists so close to my house. 👍👍 I had such a great experience at UP Mayfair! My husband trained with them a year ago and the results were incredible. When I struggled with my weight after lockdown, I decided a big change was needed. Best decision I ever made - wish I had done it sooner. The training program is hard but I genuinely...
