Wonderful place to train if you are a powerlifter in London. I'm just staying in town for a few days, but felt right at home from the moment I stepped in. Owner and members were extremely welcoming and equipment is top quality, an amazing training environment overall.

A gym like this is a rare find in London. Not only because of the equipment but also the atmosphere. As a girl I’ve found it quite difficult to find gyms that are welcoming, not intimidating and where you can feel comfortable. But this gym fulfils all three. I can’t recommend this gym enough for girls who want to enjoy the gym without having to worry about anyone else. I’ve met lovely people at this gym who encourage you and are always willing to help if you have any questions. There are many impressive lifters here but also people at all abilities and ages. I travel about 45mins to get here because of just how amazing it is. There really is no other gym like it.

Such an incredible space with the best equipment and community that has taken my training to another level! Since coming out of lockdown, I felt completely unmotivated in my old commercial gym and had to change something. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found PC… it’s such a cool space that importantly has such a good community feel that really pushes you but is also so welcoming. The owner and members have made me feel so welcome, and I can’t ask anymore. I train with a bodybuilding approach but anyone is welcome. I would say though, you have to train here if you love powerlifting! I could go on but have to mention the most and best quality equipment I’ve ever come across…

Amazing Gym! Vibe is cool, equipment is very unique for London & the music was nonstop bangers. Love the old school set up and awesome MedX equipment.

I came from Poland to visit London and wanted to train. From DM messaging to an introductory gym tour, Chris (gym owner) made me feel right at home and consequently, I had a very positive and strong workout. Physical Culture is hidden away in Putney and is a real gem. Operating since 1928, the community itself is also strong here. There Is enough old and new equipment for any powerlifter, weightlifter and bodybuilder, which, for its size, is very impressive. There is enough room to move in-between sections without bothering other members. Eleiko PL and WL plates are in abundance. Happy to return, when next in London. A members-only gym, so it is recommended to DM or email Chris to organise a session if you are interested in joining. 5 stars without a doubt.

One of the best equipped gyms I’ve ever seen! After being a member at this gym for a year I can confidently say it’s the most comfortable I’ve ever felt in a gym environment with absolute security of self and belongings. The gym is extremely well kept and you’d be hard pressed to find anything at all similar in London

Travelling through London and heard about it on social media. Can’t believe there’s such a well equipped strength training gym in London and I didn’t know about it. Mental! Chris the owner was very accommodating- they don’t usually do day passes but let me train. Never seen so many calibrated plates in London- defo best equipped I’ve been to in the uk

Was in London to visit my sister, and Chris was happy to help me out with a place to work out, definitely one of the prettiest powerlifting gyms I have been to.

A proper weightlifting gym in Putney filled with everything you could possibly want! Both members and staff are super friendly and will be more than happy to share advice/techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced this gym is perfect!

A fantastic gym for any kind of strength training (olympic weightlifting in my case): great equipment, people and atmosphere. Owner Chris is really friendly and helpful. I always have a good session at PC, I couldn't recommend it more.

Hands down the best gym I have ever been to with an abundance of top tier equipment and friendly people. Truly a one of a kind old school gym experience which is lacking from most of the new gyms. Would recommend a visit at the minimum to everyone!

The gym is a must see if you go to the UK. All the material is amazing. The place is like an artwork, and of course Chris and everyone at the gym were amazing. We definitely felt like at home. 10/10 experience. Hasta pronto des de Barcelona

I’ve visited gyms all over the world, I’ve seen ones bigger, fancier but nothing quite as well equipped for Powerlfiting. The energy of the place is immaculate, the owner Chris is extremely friendly, and the variety of bars and plates makes it a true paradise for any strength athlete. I’d recommend this gym over any in the area, you don’t find places like this often.

Trained here during a brief London visit. This gym is the real deal – top notch equipment and vibe. Highly recommended for powerlifting training!

Best gym I’ve ever joined. I’ve just moved to London so first job was to scout out the best gym in the city. This was my winner. I cycle 30 mins to get here but it’s absolutely worth it. They’ve got a fantastic selection of top quality equipment. Every bar you can imagine and amazing machines (rogue belt squat, nautilus, med x etc). Chris, the owner, is a great guy who showed me round and clearly continues to invest in the gym with new kabuki equipment arriving recently. I can’t recommend this gym enough.

A fantastic gym. Chris and the team are incredibly friendly and welcoming. If you are looking to get stronger no matter what your level, there is no better gym. It has all the equipment you need and some you didn't know existed. If you aren't sure where to start, personal training is available.

The best gym I have ever been to. It may seem scary at first but everyone is nice and will help you if you have any questions. It’s like one big family. Loads of Benches, Squat Racks and Deadlift Platforms.

My first time outside of a standard chain gym, my boyfriend who’s a member at PC finally convinced me to come. The equipment was amazing and the atmosphere was friendly. No pressure, everyone just seemed happy to train - loved it!

Best Gym Around! Physical Culture Gym is a fantastic facility in Putney with by far the best and most comprehensive equipment I have ever seen in London. Whether weightlifting or powerlifting, everything you could wish for is in that gym including an insane amount of various BB & plates, DB rack, machines & cables (to name a few). Very friendly and welcoming members, most are focused on their workout but helpful and happy to answer questions. Very easy to set yourself up to do work, no need to worry about things missing as they have everything. Special thanks to Chris for taking the time to chat & looking forward to the next training session already. Can’t recommend this gym enough. Cécile

Best powerlifting gym in London! Felt home once i entered the gym! has all the power racks, power bars and tons of calibrated plates you can ask for. They even have 0.5kg micro plates which are a plus!! The members were super super nice and assisted me a couple of times as it was my first time there. Personally would love it if they offered drop ins but looking forward to get a membership there soon!

I have been attending this gym since 2017, and did some barbells (without coaching) and machines, but now I have now started a barbell lifting regime with a coach. The gym is incredibly focused on getting people strong. A friendly, positive atmosphere. Loads of equipment. I urge people to attend to keep this excellent facility buzzing.

An amazing gym with just about every piece of equipment you could ever need or want, by far one of the best equipped gyms I’ve ever been to; Complete abundance of calibrated plates and top level bars, benches, and racks. There’s a really welcoming atmosphere too so it’s great for newcomers regardless of experience level. Even better is it’s close to the buses and tube stops if you don’t want to drive there, although there’s a decent amount of parking available on the street around the gym if you do. Be near impossible to find a better gym (especially for the value!) in london, 100% recommend!

This is an amazing gym!! Fantastic space, equipment, and people. There’s a great selection of barbells, plates, other free weights, and machines. Training with people who take their training seriously is the best. I was in town for a couple days and felt welcomed in right away. If I lived in London, I would join in a heartbeat.

Joined that gym 4 months and can easily say it is the best gym i have ever been to. Best equipment you can find and great atmosphere is definitely a winning combo. If you are looking for a gym where you can train hard surrounded by people sharing the same passion, Physical Culture is the gym to join!

The best Gym I've ever been to by far, and I've been to 10-15 gyms over the years. You can't match the equipment, there's always something new to try and always a rack available. The atmosphere is very relaxed, everyone is welcoming and people at all stages of training are catered for. All in a fantastic setting under the district line bridges as well! Strongly recommended.

Fantastic experience at Physical Culture today. They’ve got all the equipment you could possibly imagine for any powerlifting or weightlifting training. Thank you to Chris for keeping the quality of the gym so high. The gym is also close to various Tube stations! 100% would recommend to any powerlifter based in London.

This is a fantastic old school body builders gym founded in 1928. Everyone here is so friendly and a lot of people who go here are personal trainers who obviously look for the best place to go and know what they're looking for. There are some interesting bits of equipment you'd not get in a normal gym for so many tweaks to exercises. Everyone is super helpful and don't mind helping if you need a hand. if you need coaching, nutrition planning etc, want to try powerlifting, or just want to get fit in a good environment this place great and the people make it a real community. Highly recommend the place, just drop in and say hi and check it out, you wont be disappointed.
