Lovely beach and great promenade for cycling, running, walking. This part of the beach is watched by life guards so its safer to swim here.

We always have such a fabulous time when we visit. The street is so much fun for the children and with an ice cream and tea hut just a short walk away, kids and adults alike are kept hydrated and happy 😊

Very peaceful place. It was a great day trip. Nice little town with a colourful atmosphere. Only thing we missed is we couldn't go for boat trip, it was close.

A concrete promenade runs along the beach between Tankerton and Whitstable. Colourful beach huts overlook the sea which must be nice to sit in on sunny days. The beach is separated by groynes to prevent sand and shingle migrating along the shore, and these provide shelter from the wind on blustery days. The promenade leads into Whitstable harbour where you can enjoy refreshments after your walk. Showers are provided on the beach to wash off salty sea water. Look out for silent bike riders zooming past you as you walk. A great place to exercise! Out to sea are wind farms, and Maunsell forts from the second world war on the horizon.

Delightful beach to walk on, with great views of the sea. We were here at about 5.45-6.15 on a cool evening in August. It wasn't the best day overall weather-wise, but the time we were there at Tankerton, it was ideal :) Would love to visit here again, and perhaps stay a couple of nights.

A place for sea food lovers. I have visited this place twice and love the fresh oysters right from the sea. beautiful place and well connected by train (station Whitstable). The beach is unique as every day twice a sandy beach emerges during low side allowing people to walk into the Sea.

Lovely refreshing morning swim, water clear and great to have a freshwater shower on the beach to rinse the salt off before long car journey home.

Lovely beach, with plenty of space. Very nice to walk on the long footpath. From the top of the hill there are several benches, where you can appreciate the amazing views.

Beautiful day during visit. Cafe (card machine broken on day so was cash only), toilets nearby. Lot's of benches to sit and take it all in. Walk on top or down the slopes and both have hard footpath. Entertainment on day with food tents so a bonus.

Wonderful location. Free parking along the shore, long beaches. Very picturesque. Cafe with toilets to the rear. Mainly stoney beaches. View of the Maunsell sea forts in the distance. Wind turbines. Beach huts. Very pleasant all round.

Nice beach only 15 minutes walk away from Whitstable. We thought it was a lot nicer and quieter. It's mainly pebbled but we were able to walk in the sand once the tide went out a bit. There are a lot of beach huts along the coast, really pretty. There is parking close by and public toilets. If you want to picnic there is also grass area next to the beach where you can walk along and see the coast higher up

One of the best beaches to visit on the Kent coast. Plenty of parking on the road above the slopes and so much space once on the beach even when hot weather does appear. Please beware of changing currents as it can change very quickly.

Beautiful beach with well cared-after facilities, incredible view it's like a paradise and people are having so much fun. Sand and water is clean and clear as crystal, definitely recommend going to this beautiful place especially at weekends while the atmosphere is great with the crowd and weather!!!

Love the sunsets here and walking out on the street at low tide. No filters on these pics. Great evening with the kids and friends. Well worth a visit.

Tankerton Beach is a hidden coastal gem that offers a serene and picturesque escape near Whitstable, Kent. My visit to this beach left me mesmerized by its natural beauty, tranquil atmosphere, and breathtaking views. The pebble shoreline of Tankerton Beach is simply stunning. Walking along the beach, I felt a sense of calmness as I listened to the gentle crashing of waves and felt the smooth pebbles beneath my feet. The beach is well-maintained and pristine, making it a pleasure to explore and enjoy the peaceful ambiance. The colorful beach huts that adorn the promenade add a touch of charm to the scenery. These vibrant huts create a delightful backdrop for capturing memorable photos or simply admiring the picturesque coastal landscape. Tankerton Beach also offers ample space for leisurely walks or jogging along the expansive stretch of pebbles. It's a fantastic place for beachcombing, as I had the pleasure of discovering unique seashells and pieces of driftwood along the shore. The beach is well-equipped with facilities, including clean public toilets, convenient parking nearby, and cozy cafes where you can grab a snack or a hot beverage to complement your visit. It's the perfect destination for those seeking a peaceful coastal retreat, breathtaking sunsets, or simply a moment of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I highly recommend a visit to Tankerton Beach to experience its natural charm and unwind in the midst of captivating coastal scenery. It's a true hidden gem that will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and connected to the beauty of nature.

It was a great first time visit for us. Fist a walk around the shops chatting to some lovely shop owners and making the odd purchase. Then onto here to stroll along the beach people watching. The beach huts looked beautiful in all the various colours. We were jealous of all the people who had access to them. Seeing all these families and friends enjoying but also respecting personal space and not leaving litter.

We actually went to herne bay but was so surprised by the amount of people there not worrying about social distance that its wont any surprise when the second spike comes so we carried on to tankerton and it was loverly plenty of space we were able to sit and have ice cream and later a portion of chips which was very nice so be warned dont join the masses as they all think I wont catch more fool them

Smashing views great ice creams...if u want a beer go to the tankerton arms...avoid marine...good views but poor customer relations, sticky tables and poor beer

I work for serco though a agency and empty the bins along Tankerton Promenade and i am appalled by the way people overload the bins and leave their rubbish round them, it clearly states if bin full take your litter home, Not rocket science is it? Makes it look untidy for all the Beach Hut owners and the people who use the promenade, if people had a brain it would make people’s days more enjoyable and my job easier

It's a very nice walk and has lovely views. It's wasn't too busy so great for social distancing ? There isn't many places to get something to eat or drink but if that's not what your after then it's great long beach. It looks like a great place to cycle as there was lots of people/families cycling. It's got a large flat path around the beach.

North facing, long shingle beach running from Whitstable all the way down to the start of the Hamptons. Close to shops, a public toilet and a cafe nearby. Water levels can make swimming difficult at low tide but generally a nice spot for swimming or a picnic.

It is a nice beach, it depends on what someone is looking for exactly. Not a Brighton or Southend. People tend to come here with their dogs which can be difficult if your 3-year-old is extremely scared of them. The beach was relatively quiet when we visited and probably it is the usual traffic as there weren't a huge amount of amenities there. There is a skate park which was very busy and looked like fun, and just minutes off the beach there is a big playground for younger kids.

A lovely place only a short distance from Whitstable. Tankerton Beach tends to be less busy than Whitstable so is a good spot to chill before heading into Whitstable.
