I was working along Woodford New Rd and by chance took a walk during mi lunch break to find this treasure. Epping forest is such a beautiful spot for a walk near London. As I love walking barefeet in nature, I took mi shoes off, but the area is quite wet and muddy beneath the grass. The main paths are okay. There weren't many people, infact I met less than 5 so you'll hear mostly the sounds of nature and cars passing by on main road which isn't bad considering the cool peace within the woods. There are ponds around the forest and fishing is allowed.

Such a beautiful, peaceful spot, full of life. One of the amazing places in London, to visit if you love nature. Ample parking places around by, but recently the closing time changed to 6.30 pm. Need to be careful from the bikers, cyclists and horse riders as the surrounding roads are very narrow. Love the place !!

A genuine cherish, Epping Forest attracts nature lovers with its alluring beauty and limitless opportunities for exploration. It is a paradise for individuals looking for tranquilly in nature because of its rich vegetation, diverse animals, and serene atmosphere. Epping Forest will likely surpass your expectations whether you're seeking for a leisurely stroll, an adrenaline-pumping adventure, or a quiet getaway. Epping Forest is a great place to go for a day walk near London. It can, however, be quite wet and muddy in winter, though most of the main paths will be reasonably okay - avoid the open Chingford Plain in the south when it's been particularly wet if you can. While not steep, Epping Forest is not entirely flat either, and it contains some surprisingly hilly paths in its middle section. The middle and northern parts are almost entirely wooded. The walking experience is slightly marred by the traffic noise coming from several busy roads that run through it and that on longer walks will have to be crossed. There will typically be quite a few people around at weekends, but rarely to the point of it feeling crowded. Apart from some smaller ponds, it also contains the attractive Connaught Water in its southeastern corner.

Epping Forest is the closest natural park in London. It's big and it's impossible to visit it in one bay but don't worry the are a lot of path so you can choose what's for you. I went into connaught water. The best way to go there is by tube getting off at Loughton and then by bus (20 stop C) till cricket stop. Just cross the road and you can start to walk on the path for less than 30 minutes. If you want to go there by car there is car parking close to the site. In my opinion it's a good place to have a picnic and rest with friends or family. IMPORTANT bring water

Visited this massive forest! 2 months ago and forgot to give a review! Very quiet but peaceful forest. Strawberry Hill Pond was a nice place to chill and watch the ducks and relax with nature! Had a little wander around but wish I had more time to explore! Only saw only a few local people walking their dogs, cyclist and others checking out the forest. Lots of hills and pebbles around so do make sure you are wearing suitable hard wearing trainers! and suitable clothing to avoid bites and stings! :) There is a lot of history about this forest and only learned about it after visiting! Woooooo! - Scary stuff!

Favourite place to get some clean, fresh air in London. Amazing forest. Magical walks. Lots of wild animals. If you know history and your way around, it could be your favourite place :) Highly recommend for family dog walks. Stay of the main track to have a true experience

I came here to do a 'Medicine Walk' which is a way of just walking sometimes for an entire day without any particular destination other than intuitively being guided by your heart, feelings, Greater Knowing...and noticing signs on the way through nature somehow. Well, I came across grazing longhorn cattle. So I sat, back against a tree, in their presence. I wondered what was so compelling about the white buffalo with long curved horns....and the answer came. Of course! White Buffalo Woman! Many of the Native American tribes believe White Buffalo Woman brought the Wisdom Teachings of the Elders to this earth. To me being in the presence of this white buffalo was reminding me of that...and that White Buffalo Woman was revealing her presence. An affirmation the Great Spirit is always here and has our back. We simply have to notice. I would recommend anyone and everyone to set out on a Medicine Walk especially when they need an answer to life's problems or a particular issue the mind alone cannot figure out. Best to do this fasting though water is fine, and having set an intention in your heart-mind that an answer or answers are revealed to you. If you cannot formulate the words then simply place your hand on your hesrt and let your subconscious speak to Spirit....or ask that you receive what you need to know. Again, don't believe a word I say, rather experiment yourself and find out!

Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of London. Would highly recommend. Well done Epping Forest. Epping Forest is a beautiful, huge forest between London and Essex. Perfect for everyone to visit. Suitable shoes/wellies are necessary! For wheelchair or buggy users, I'd recommend the trail at high beech which has suitable paths. My favourite spots are: Connaught Waters, Chingford Plains, High Beech and the Deer Sanctuary

It was one of the most scary place I have been. If you want some adrenaline, try during dark time down the hill in the middle of the forest. Highly advise to go with a group of people do not go alone as it can be very dangerous

Magical place to go for a walk in the sun! When it rains it might get a little muddy so not really suggested. Yet, beautiful and peaceful!

Lovely combination of woods and fields close to London. Clearly marked paths for both people and horses. Great for a casual walk as well as brisk hikes. That this reserve has several main roads running through can come as a surprise. The children loved the fields and open spaces. Saw the occasional deer and a bunch of grazing horses. Couple of polite riders passed by and gave us suggestions on where to wander! :-) Some of the wooded areas were pretty spooky with the light barely filtering in through the trees.
