Easy to find and plenty of parking space. A great place for dog walking or picnics. The house is wonderful and packed with many treasures. The woodland walk and Japanese gardens are good. I especially liked the Egyptian exhibition. Has a good cafe serving the usual NT menu as you would expect. Well worth a visit.

Visiting to see the Christmas decorations, we were not disappointed. Had a brilliant time here, they had timed tickets to the house which saves you joining a long queue. Plenty of parking and good toilets. Cafe food was really good but it was busy, there are two stable blocks where you can sit down to have your food, the 2nd one is just under the arch and many people don’t know it’s there , we always sit here as you can normally get a table. Good options for food, even vegan kids meals 👍. The volunteers were amazing as always and happy to share the house information and secrets. The Christmas decorations were stunning. And of course there is a second hand bookstore Those who follow me will also know I tried the scones 👍

Beautiful stately home not too far from Bournemouth and Poole. The grounds are extensive and range from peaceful woodlands to zen like Japanese garden and the exquisite kitchen garden with accompanying glasshouses and play area for the kids. A couple of good cafes top it all off. We visited at the start of Autumn and got to experience the Autumn Trail. Dog friendly too,

Easy to find with plenty of parking and easy access. Beautiful house and gardens with very friendly and helpful staff. The children were engaged with their guide of the house and found it a fascinating place. Picnic area seating was provided as well as cafe. Currently the main toilets are being refurbished so only temporary toilets available, same with the play areas through the woodland walk. We had a lovely day out and would go again.

Lovely day out for all the family (and any dogs). Would have been great to see the light show trails but visited during the daytime at the end of season - one for later this year. Well laid out and very accessible, the grounds offer plenty to see and explore - great to have multi use paths of varying distance on the adventure trails, not many properties seem to allow for cycling. The house itself was a delight, though not much appeared open (no bedrooms on show, for example). The Christmas decor added a real cosy feel to the art on show and warm, traditional wood panelling interiors. One for a summer visit again!

What a beautiful place to visit and staff so welcoming and friendly! My favourite place out of all that is local to us! What I really like is that you don't have to end up trailing around like a tourist pack as there are many different ways/routes you can go around! It's great for all ages and provides mobility accessories for the disabled or physically encumbered! Great for kids and a beautiful drive through Wimborne from Salisbury :) Definitely recommend!

A jewel in the National Trust's portfolio. A must-see house, gardens, and grounds. Love the furniture, pictures and the expert staff.

We visited for a second time. First time was during COVID. Second time was far better. I felt that I had more time to read about the house, speak to the volunteers and just generally take time to explore the property. All rooms were open (unlike our first visit) and it definitely made this trip a lot better. Being able to go upstairs to look at the bedrooms and leaky skylight was lovely. Maybe next time we visit NT will have fixed the skylight. When you've left the library and gone in to the next room (possibly a lounge) make sure you ask the volunteer about the small paintings hanging on the wall as you leave that room. Some interesting facts. Work was being carried out to clean and restore the chandelier at the time which was also good to watch. It looked very time consuming and luckily there was no Only Fools and Horses moment 😉. Make sure you visit the laundry area outside with all the different Irons . The gardens are lovely and there is a walk around the estate which is recommended. There was also work going on fitting a heat pump and lots of information about why this is taking place. This didn't affect the visit at all.

Really interesting National Trust property, with friendly, knowledgeable room guides. Loved hearing all the stories about the paintings. Lovely range of walks around the grounds and gorgeous gardens.

A great place for a walk. The castle is very beautiful. We liked that it featured a children's room, a very detailed laundry, as well as a restored kitchen garden with installations of the main office, a recreation room, an apple room... the playground in that place is of high quality and very convenient combination with a kiosk and a lunch area.

I had a very enjoyable visit on a sunny afternoon. The grounds are spacious and include formal gardens, expansive lawns, woodlands, a large kitchen garden and a beautiful Japanese garden. The house is grand with exquisite furnishings including items from ancient Egypt and paintings and from Italy. Well worth a visit.

Would recommend a visit to Kingston Lacy. A grand house and outer buildings with many historic features including fine works of art and furniture. Very helpful room guides along the way if you do the house tour. Usual National Trust cafe and gift shop which does not disappoint. Garden walks very good depending on the time of year. We visited late April and so much to see. Plenty of parking and all free to NT members.

We went here on a fairly wet and dreary day in February so the gardens weren't as enjoyable as they would be in the summer time, but the house was really amazing - beautiful marble staircases! A real highlight was seeing the keys to Corfe Castle, the history is fantastic. An interesting feature of the site is the milk vending machine in the car park - you can get fresh, local whole milk here! We gave it a go out of sheer novelty/curiosity and it was great.

Venetian style house in Dorset! One of the most stunning National Trust properties, really unusual and had a great back story. Nice gardens around too. It's fascinating that much of it was built when the owner was in exile in Venice.

We had a great day a beautiful place to visit both inside and out. The house is so well preserved and presented and the gardens are amazing. I would highly recommend this national trust property.

Lovely gardens, perfect tome of year (February) to see them. Very busy, no admittance to the house as too popular. That was ok as the weather was terrific so glad to remain outside. Would like to see the cherry blossom one day.

Great place to step back in time. They have a good variety of walks which are very easy, and take you through various impressive indigenous and foreign vegetation. Some of the trees are really impressive, and the colours always impress.

Great day out. Gorgeous house with lots to see inside. Staff in each room were able to explain a lot about the history of the house and the furnishings in the room. The grounds are lovely. There are wheelchairs available to borrow for the day which was helpful.

Lovely NT house and extensive gardens with well laid out paths. Ideal for families. Our latest visit was to see the Christmas tree display in the house

Lovely historic property, part of the National Trust Collection. The house was built C17 by Ralph Bankes to a design by the architect Sir Roger Pratt. It is very opulent in places with one of the rooms, the Spanish room having walls hung with gilded leather. House was stunning, however on a personal level I just didn't connect with it. The gardens were a little parched when we visited and I had high expectations of the Japanese garden (which were not met).

Visited with a friend on 21/10/23. The gardens are beautiful, goods paths around and as others have said, needs to be much better directional signage for the various parts of the grounds. Dogs allowed but not in the formal gardens. Nicest bit for me was the Japanese themed garden. There's a Kitchen Garden too with kids play area alongside. House is attractive with lots of detail and objects, paintings etc. Top attic floor off limits on our visit as limited volunteers available. Cafe usual NT fayre, pot of tea & flapjack (oversugared, bland and cheap tasting) £5.10. Staff friendly though. With the house you have to select a timeslot which are 15 minutes apart. What prevents me giving 5 stars is experiencing the usual tiresome NT membership push, it's the same at most NT sites I find.

An absolute delight. Lovely house and the gardens are well worth a visit. Very well kept and beautiful autumn colours, especially by the kitchen garden. Well stocked shop and very friendly and helpful staff in both the shop and cafe.

Visiting family in the area, so went here as a trip out. The house is, as often the case, spectacular. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Huge tree's, lovely lighting, and well informed guides. It was a bit busy, probably due to the poor weather, but plenty of space for looking round, lovely to have so many children there ... it didn't look like there was anything special on for them, unfortunately. Great lunch, and seating in the stables is perfect. The Spicy Cauliflower Pasty is an absolute treat. The second hand bookshop is worth a visit .. and the little Christmas sale worth a look. We didn't do the advised walk and the rain had decided to beat us .. but it looks lovely from the photos. I've included the poster advertising the snowdrops if you're interested, in the photos. There's no need to book in advance, although there's a timed system for the house, we certainly didn't have to wait.

Beautiful house and grounds. Enjoy visiting each time we’re in Dorset. The gardens really are spectacular. Love checking out the kitchen garden and exploring what is new. Highly recommended.

A fantastic house that is complete with all it's original fixtures and furnishings including a magnificent collection of artwork. The guides were very helpful, friendly and informative. The grounds are very pleasant to stroll around and the kitchen garden should not be missed. All told a great place to visit.

Easy to find and park . I enjoyed looking around the house . Nice place to enjoy some peace in lovely surroundings. I had a cup of tea from a little hut whilst waiting for my partner to return. There were tables and chairs to use freely . He went to walk the dogs around ' The woodland trail ' and eventually met about 10 other dog walkers who also agreed that the sign posts were really poor on where they could ACTUALLY walk the dogs . Better signage would certainly help future dog walkers .

I liked the inside of the house and how much cool stuff that it contains inside it, The food there isn't that excellent though. It's a nice cafe though. You can buy Sausage rolls, Pasties, Sandwiches, cakes, drinks, ice cream and also wedges. The gardens are lovely to walk around and I would recommend this place for school trips as it's excellent to see an old house in the National Trust.

Interesting house and really great grounds, plenty to do and see - could easily spend a day exploring and it's a lovely setting. We particularly enjoyed the Japanese tea garden and the kitchen garden. Could do with better signage around, some paths shown on the map as dog friendly routes were roped off when we got to them, nothing to show you which colour path you are on etc. Also, major wasp issue at the stables cafe we must have had 10-15 wasps around our table at one point, every table seemed to have the same issue.

Stunning looking house, with it's Italianate architecture belonging to the Bankes family. Very interesting hearing the history of the house and the changes that were made. Vast collection of art and Egyptian artifacts. Lovely Japanese and formal gardens. Great to hear the stories told by the national trust volunteers. Stunning house, lovely gardens, tasty cafe, adventure park's for kids and lot more to see and do. Highly recommended.

A visit to National Trust's Kingston Lacy was an absolute delight! The grandeur of the historic house, surrounded by sprawling parkland, was a mesmerizing step back in time. The park is a serene escape, perfect for leisurely walks and picnics. The meticulously curated gardens are a visual masterpiece, each area telling its own vibrant story. The staff's warmth and knowledge added a personal touch that made the visit even more memorable. Kingston Lacy is a haven of beauty and tranquillity, where history and nature intertwine seamlessly. Whether you're a history buff or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, this destination is a must-visit. I left feeling invigorated and grateful for such a captivating experience.

Great for a day out with/without kids long walking trails and some that you can cycle aswell. The house is great with some great staff the gardens are well maintained to very high standards. Even the walk trails are trimmed and easy to access. Parking site is big enough and not really struggling to find parking. Will definitely come back. For some more walking maybe cycling.

Lovely house and some wonderful paintings here. Every room has a member of staff who are really knowledgeable. Lovely cafe as always with the NT. The staff were every friendly and gave us a free tea due to an error they had made. Spot on with the customer service. Gardens were lovely to walk in and so much of it to explore. Definitely will come again.

👍👍 Great place for a walk out of peak times. There is a car park and an over flow carpark here though in peak times these can get full fairly quickly but in quite times (early morning and through the cooler months) parking is not a problem. You can do a short walk on the path next to the river, headi...
