They're beach huts! They don't provide any type of service. They just kinda sit there, being huts. As huts go, they're quite colourful. I'd go as far as saying that they're probably the best beach huts I've ever seen, which isn't saying that much. If you're a beach hut fan, or maybe just dabble in garden sheds, you're going to nuts when you see them. Three stars. I could probably live without them, but I'm glad they're there. They're just huts.

Fabulous colours. Global recognition. Used by their owners for food, fun, and drinks. It is possible to buy one.

Visiting these bright, pastel and colourful beach huts in Hove and just the whole beach is very lovely. It was not crowded and there are plenty of places to get some coffee or tea. Even thought it is not Spring yet, we had very sunny weather and it wasn't too cold! Perfect day for a beach outing!!

Firstly, it's not about the beach huts bit for the entire beach itself. We went to Hove for enjoying a cricket match in the Sussex county ground but before entering into the ground, we just had a quick round to the beach. Hove is a seaside town and you can clearly feel it even if you are away from the beach. I liked the environment around. When I reached the beach, there are many colourful huts lined up. People were enjoying in front of their huts. It was nice weather, not so sunny but warm. While walking down the beach side path, we could hear music at the background. Then found an area where many people even the elderly people were practising their skating skills. The sea was calm, yachts were far away, a long pebble beach where many were relaxing, having picnic in mixed age groups. Inspite of being a seaside town and a tourist spot, the roads were clean and beach was absolutely clean. The last but not the least, there were many roadside parking. In every street I found there were parking on the both side of the road. So I don't think anyone faces any issue with parking ever. As Brighton beach normally gets overcrowded during summer, Hove is a better alternative to enjoy beach and a day outing. Also, it's not far away from London. So, let's pack and go !!

For a few days we came from London to this beautiful seaside town of Brighton. My daughter took us along the paths of her role model Zoe, who lives in this place. We sat on the beach, walked past these beautiful houses of extraordinary colors. I had to take pictures of my daughter countless times.

Just not seeing the big deal.. nicely painted I guess but some of the roofs are rotting. Heard one of them sold for 25,000 pounds... for a shed. After being there I realized looking at images online is good enough for me.

Magical day with a great friend. Watching the world go by. It's funny listening to residents shout at cyclists as its a no cycling promenade. 🀣

You have to walk along Brighton beach to then to Hove Beach to appreciate the fun and quirky side of this seaside towns. Be sure to head to the pier and check out the exhilarating rides and mini attractions. Great in the summer when people are out and about enjoying drinks in the sunshine. Evening or night you’ll definitely love this place.

Great place for a morning run. Moderate sunshine with a pleasant sea breeze. Wide footpaths for easy running.

Beach huts were introduced in Hove in the 1930’s following the demise of bathing machines and bathing tents on Hove beach. By 1939 there were 473 huts on the promenade. At Hove Lawns originally the huts were placed on the south side of the promenade, in some parts in double rows, thus blocking the sea view from people strolling along the seafront. As there were many more people wishing to hire huts than there were huts available, in 1947 Hove Council introduced a lucky dip system as the fairest way of allocating the huts. In August 1982 Hove Council invited tenants to buy huts at a cost of Β£100. Fast forward to 2010 when 17 new huts at Hove Lagoon were all sold within a space of three weeks for Β£12,500 each. There are now approx 500 beach huts in Hove. Owners pay a licence to the council and must adhere to stringent conditions. There is regulation paint for the sides and roofs, but you can paint the door in any colour, including stripes, though no other patterns. When one owner had his door painted in circles the Council was not amused and ordered a regulation re-paint. During winter storms the beach huts get battered with pebbles and there have been occasions when huts have been blown apart by gales. But in the warmer season a Hove beach hut is the place to be and the prices for these desirable properties just keep going up.

Nice and peaceful area. Toilets, cafes, beach - everything nearby and free. A nice stroll from Hove to central Brighton along the beach with these colourful beauties on your left.

Couldn’t find a space to park our car so just drove along and bought some fish and chips then went. It was a shame because it’s a beautiful day for seaside.

Simple and serene. I prefer this side of the beach than Brighton. Brighton is busy and bustling. Hove just takes the edge off and you can relax more.

Not being too far from the office it's a nice trip down at lunch time and walk around. There's a lot and nothing to do here. If you don't mind getting wet then there is Hove Lagoon with various water sports. Towards Portslade end there isn't really any shops. There are some businesses but not ice-cream. That is more King Alfred way and beyond. It's a stone / pedal beach, no sand. Currently under-construction is a sea defense wall by the yacht club. Filming of Grace has also been done by Hove Lagoon.

Lovely walk from king Alfred with a few mandatory coffee and ice cream stops along the way

Parking is poor in this area. I was here for the finish line of the British Heart Foundation London to Brighton mountain bike ride. I spent an hour looking for a parking location, and ended up a twenty minute walk away. Consider your parking options before you drive here.

The beach huts were quaint, without them the beach would have been just a pebbly beach. Loved walking up and down pearing into the ones which were open. Not sure I would personally like to use one due to the people walking past.

A quintessential English seaside experience! Go for a stroll on the prom when the sun is setting to appreciate Hove at its finest.

Iconic (if ultimately mostly aesthetic), these wooden huts line the seafront and proudly parade their colours in the summer. Families can be seen setting up and enjoying the seafront, the inside of each one reflecting the personality of the owners. At Christmas time a selection of these will serve as an advent calendar, opening on a certain day in December.

My daughter and I walked along the beach from Hove to Brighton Pier. She absolutely loved all the beautiful coloured beach huts and insisted on having her photo taken by her favourite ones.

Staff and manager are friendly and helpful, tables took a long time to have the plates and glasses removed and cleaned, although I imagine that is down to staff shortages as there seemed to be a lot of work to be done by a few staff dashing about the place. Must confess food was not that great for the price charged. Soft drinks cheap enough. Don't think we will be returning though, and that's nothing to do with the staff, more to do with quality of food.

Hove beach is amazing. We went in February, so we could walk the dog in the beach and it wasn't too busy. The beach is clean and there are loads of great places to eat. Just love walking there.

What a magnificent place this is! So full of colours and full of vibrance. A must visit place with Instagram worthy photos. Make sure you have this on your bucket list when you visit Brighton and Hove.

Beautiful beach huts across hove lawns and a nice visual distraction when you jog/run by the sea. Aside from being storage huts, I just feel they could be repurposed to better use (or maybe now they aren't much used because of covid19)

Loved the beach and eating areas. More quiet than Brighton. If you would like a more peaceful stroll along the beach then Hove is ideal. Easy and probably cheaper to park in Hove and walk to Brighton about 25 minutes.

Got to love Hove beach huts. A wide promenade, with Hove Lawns one side and a big wide beach the other, facing due South. What more do you need? There is even a choice of places to eat and drink, with loads more up the beach. Gotta love it

Lovely walk to Brighton along the seafront. Clean toilets too, cafe etc. Very enjoyable afternoon

A fascinating historical feature where yet again, if you reflect like looking at yourself in the sea water opposite. It will encourage you, your family and children to focus on your life and why Brighton has the diversity and colour for a example of acceptance to benefit the betterment of the future of the planet.
