An absolutely beautiful Area Of Natural Beauty (AONB). Very popular for islanders, tourists and surfers. There is plenty of parking as shown in my drone photos. Situated along the Military Road which is a beautiful drive along the coastline. The yellow fields of rapeseed in the late spring/early summer is nicely contrasted with the white cliffs around Freshwater and Tennison Downs in the background. There is no access down to the beach for disabled people, especially those in wheelchairs, but it is lovely to sit on the clifftop. Please be aware that the cliffs are definitely not suitable for climbing, as again in the photos, they are crumbling and falling on a very regular basis. There are toilets for able and disabled people. The parking isn't free, as the area is owned by the National Trust, but it doesn't cost a fortune. There is always an ice-cream van present and that is run by Steve. I think it's only Christmas Day that he doesn't work so you're almost always guaranteed of an ice-cream or burger/hotdog. One final thing to mention is that there are no rubbish bins on the site (no idea why) so please take it all home with you. The wildlife (which is quite vast, both inland and sea) do not appreciate getting their heads stuck in your waste, ok I'm talking about a small minority of people and I don't mean to sound rude. There ends the short essay of my favourite place on the island.

Really nice bay and a great place to watch the sunset. I have spent time on the sands here when the kids were younger and it is nice though there's not much here - an ice cream can in the car park and toilets but that's about it. Ideal if you just need a beach to hang out on.

Excellent sunset today and a full moon rising over the downs.

Lovely walks along the coast, great views and perfect for swimming. The dinosaur footprints are incredibly well preserved and visible at low tide. Parking is limited so get there early and toilets are on site as well.

Lovely bay. Need to go down quite a few steep wooden steps to reach the bay. Only has a small toilet hut at top of the wooden steps next to the car park which is not large. No other facilities at this bay. Very nice place when you get down onto the bay. Because of the high cliffs behind you on the beach (which is sandy on the whole, but also in places stoney and a few rock pools to the left of the steps - which is also the dog friendly area) it is quite protected from the winds. Gets very busy from lunchtime onwards.

This is a lovely little beach which not many people seem to know about so even on a school.holiday there is plenty of space. There are few amenities here, so if you want to spend the day remember to take all the food and drink you need. There is a small toilet block at the top of the cliffs, but as you can imagine it gets busy! For those of you feeling determined you can sometimes.find the odd fossil here and there in the stones on the beach, especially those that have just fallen in the regular rockfalls. All in all, we really enjoyed the sea, the sand and the fossil we found. A lovely afternoon!

This is a good beach. It's mostly sandy with patches of stones. There's a car park which is free of you're a national trust member but otherwise there are charges (I don't know how much). The car park is close to the beach down some steps. There are public toilets which aren't very nice, they're pretty run down and smelly.

Small beach at the bottom of the cliff. National Trust car park at the top which you have to pay for. Parking on the road looks to be free. Maybe good for surfing and swimmers but nothing else there apart from the view which is pretty much the same as the rest of the cliff walk on that stretch.

Calm & Nice Sand Beach in Isle of Wight where the crowd is pretty less. You can find Dinosaur Foot Prints here in low tides. Car Park available and just walk few mins(down) to reach the beach.

Beautiful beach with a great view of the southern cliffs, also a great place to hike across especially at sunset

Lovely walk. Sat and ate lunch at the Tennison monument where we had such lovely views. Nice and easy walk with awesome views of the sea. Compton beach is lovely. The closest toilets are in the National Trust car park. There was a NT ice cream van. Apart from that there isn't anywhere to buy any water, so make sure you take food and drink with you.

Compton bay is a beautiful beach with large sloping sands and a Jurassic history as well as the SS Carbon shipwreck

Stunning views out to sea. Lots of walking around the area. Public toilets are closed for winter. Not suitable for disabled visitors as beach is accessed via lots of wooden steps.

We parked here to do the purple circular walk. We went clockwise and found the first two thirds to be well signposted and easy to follow but the last part was difficult to navigate and it's not a complicated walk. I think it's advisable to download the app! Well worth it as the views are amazing. It's probably around 10 miles. Car park was empty when we arrived at 9.30 but rammed when we got back at around 3. There is very limited parking for any vans over 6'4"
