Chokushi-Mon & Japanese Landscape - Kew Gardens

Garden

👍👍 Amazing. A lovely piece of a Japanese garden in the middle of London. Tranquil and beautiful. Good chance to meet and see a peacock. I would love it to be bigger to be honest. There is plenty space around it to be hopefully used to expand it? On the way there is a treetop walkway and great pagoda. A... People often mention garden, Japanese, Gardens,

Last Saturday started the Japan festival at Kew Gardens. Very nice events about art, culture, calligraphy and colourful display of chrysanthemums. We had very nice time, the staff were very kind and knowledgeable. Thank you. It was like a magical escape through Japan. Do not miss the Great Pagoda, Ginkgo grove, Bamboo garden and Minka House.

This is an unexpected spot in Kew Gardens but was lovely to bump into after walking along from the Great Pagoda. The colours looked very good in Spring and I sat there for a few minutes peace before continuing my slow walk through the Gardens.

Transfixed by the stunning garden, made more amazing by the peacock wandering around. With the Great Pagoda hovering above, this is an oasis of peace and calm, the planting is made more alive and majestic by the large spheres in the sand.

It's always immaculate and always it fills you with a calm, serene feeling every time you see it .Today it was even more beautiful with the Chihuly's iconic art work added to the landscape. Simply magnificent!

Amazing place. So calm and serene. Really felt like being in a Japanese garden. Kids loved running around in the shade.

Magical place in the mids of Kew Gardens, like a place out of this place, you feel that you are in the far east. Very comfortable and convenient to sit around these beautiful structures and forget you are in London. The sand garden is so relaxing and the whole surrounding is Beautiful. Plenty of benches or you can seat in the grass during a hot sunny day. The pagoda is only open in season, April to Sep/Oct.

It's so good to see Kew Gardens open during Covid restrictions. You have to book in advance, but it's absolutely worth it. Right now (mid April,21) lots of trees are blossoming. Kids playground is better to book in advance too, but a separate queue is there for those who didn't book. The playground is amazing!

One of the best things in Kew Gardens is the Japanese themed "Japanese Landscape". I don't claim to know the intricacies of designing a Japanese garden, but what I can see is precision of the flowers, plants and trees. The attention to details of ornamentation of rocks, building and other garden features that collectively sets a scene of tranquillity. And don't miss the Gateway of the Imperial Messenger at the top of the gardens. Lovely, beautiful and peaceful.

Lovely permanent Japanese garden at Kew, which was particularly appropriate after visiting the temporary Japanese displays in the Temperate House.

By definition, Japanese elements/structures are classified as inspiring and somehow induce a state of tranquillity. Everything over there flows naturally and unhindered. Just sit on a bench and allow yourself to be transported in a different world.

Beautiful Japanese garden! I do miss the glass sculptures that were all around the park in 2019.

It was the last evening in the royal botanical garden with illumination. You know, this also cannot be conveyed in a photo or video... You need to see everything in person!!!
