Good and busy place whenever you are in London and craving some decent Indian food. I wouldn't say it was the best meal ever however it wasn't bad at all. Food was tasty although portion size a bit on the small side for what you pay. I had high expectations because the ordeal that it seems to get a table booked and maybe I felt a bit down, hence only 3 starts. Maybe it was too big and too busy? Sooo many people moving around it was a bit too much. The service was good but not what I would expect for a 12% service charge. We order one extra lemonade that came after 15min,so we had already finished everything we had ordered and they brought 2 instead of just one. Price, well, its central London... £40 x person without dessert. We ended quite full but feeling that we paid a bit too much for what we got. Will I get back? Perhaps I will but only with some friends if they really crave some Indian food in Central London. I also think this is one of those places that if you come as a big group you can enjoy many small dished.

This is proper Indian food. Lovely flavour and use of spices. Very good value, attentive service and generous portions. If you like proper Indian food this place is worth a visit….

Came here before going to see a show. I was a little worried at first because of the amount of noise and bustle. However when seated this became gentle babbling and was no issue for my hypersensitive ears. I had a theory at first. They must only employ Models or actors-because every member of staff is just beautiful-but it’s not beauty. It’s something far rarer. Happy staff, paid decently, in a job they might actually like! It’s a bloody revelation I tell you! Smiles everywhere and a real ambiance of gentle warmth and genuine goodness. The food is always exceptional so I don’t have anything to add that others have already said- it is always delicious and decently priced. Whiners who say their meal was small clearly eat more than this little piggy! I was stuffed! Thank you for a lovely meal!

Absolutely delicious food! As we were a large group, we had the sharing platter which was amazing! The black Dahl was the star of the show for me! I am hoping to go back to try the breakfast menu which I heard is also incredible! You can book for certain times of the day, although most of the tables are reserved for walk ins in the evening (prepare to queue/wait but it’s worth it if you have the time). Veggie/ Non Veggie Sharing platters available. If it’s your birthday they sign for you 🥳 Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back.

5 stars restaurant.. I loved every dish and drink. Service was great. Fav: Tikka, lamb shops and tea. 1- book ahead, there's a long waiting line. 2- be careful of the optional service charge on the bill, almost 10%.

Great service and good breakfast options with good size portions and reasonable in price. Place was full so you will always have to wait a little. Would have just liked to have seen some actual tradition indian breakfast items as well.

Really nice breakfast and friendly staff. Ended up paying £50+ for 2 large breakfast with 2 coffees and unlimited tea. Kerjiwal eggs on toast were nice. The mushrooms and bacon are good too.

So worth the wait! The food was incredible, as a carnivore I was so satisfied with all their veggie dishes especially the black daal, okra fries, gunpowder potatoes and the rice pudding dessert. I am definitely going back to try more, 10/10.

We went for an early dinner without a reservation, and a table was promptly provided for us. The waiter was very helpful and assisted us in choosing the dishes. We got the fried okra, which was a delightful experience, also we got butter chicken, I enjoyed its flavor with both bread and rice. We also ordered shrimp masala, which was tasty, though I expected it to be better. Overall, the restaurant atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were cooperative. It's worth trying more than once.

Amazing restaurant, one of the best Indian restaurants in London amazing service great delicious food. The only issue is the long queue. We have to wait for 40 minutes to get a table but it was worth it. They serve you tea and drinks while waiting in the queue. The butter chicken is amazing is the most Highly recommended restaurant

So much flavour in all their food. I didn't know what to expect and it blew me out of the water. The biryani was amazing but the black daal was really the surprise of the night. Would definitely come back. Try to beat the rush though, it can be quite a long wait.

Beautiful place and great Indian food. It gets extremely busy so it is recommended to make a reservation early or even a day ahead in the weekends. We went there for lunch around 4:30 and unfortunately they ran out of biryani at that time. However, the service was excellent and so was the food. The samosas were not to my taste honestly but the okra fries were amazing. Last note, the portions are to the smaller side but with reasonable price.

We went to Dishoom for the first time, and it was an incredible restaurant. Everything, from the atmosphere to the food and service, was outstanding. We had to wait for about 50 minutes because we didn't make a reservation, but it was definitely worth it. Their menu style is unique, and the food was delicious. The best part was how quickly they brought our food after we ordered. They even gave us chocolate mousse because it was my birthday. All in all, it was a fantastic experience.

DISHOOM, Carnaby Someone really has some explaining to do. Why is there always a queue outside. So you can only book a table here before 6pm. Afterwards it will be based off the queue outside which is fair. I went with the pre 6pm option. On arrival, i checked in and the restaurant was busy. This added to my high expectations as i have been wanting to go since Covid. The background music was a bit american diner ish which i didnt mind. Drink of choice was the mango lassi which is my go to when i am at an indian restaurant. This was unfortunately below average. My food order was the chicken bites, the okra fries, the lamb samosas and the chicken biryani. The okra fries were okay. The chicken bites were quite warm and also lacked spice. The lamb samosas with the dips were the only decent offering. The chicken biryani taste different which suggest a homemade recipe which i like but it was just average in taste. It is possible that my expectations were too high going in and i have been told that other branches are a lot better. Not sure i have the confidence to try it again. To summarise, i think the food taste is more for people who are not keen on spice

Delicious Indian food. I would recommend Chicken Ruby if you like butter chicken and in general food was very delicious. Big applause to staff members who were willing to help us in finding the right table and for the great service during the evening. Seems to be a busy place defined worth visiting!

Carnaby Dishoom stands out not only for its vibrant ambiance and diverse menu but also for an amazing drinks selection. The authentic Indian flavors, attentive staff, and an enticing array of beverages contribute to a generally enjoyable experience. Despite the extended wait times, often exceeding two hours, particularly during the peak Christmas season, the exceptional drinks menu helps balance the overall wait. One will not miss but notice the strategic approach to sales and marketing, especially centered around the impressive drinks selection, that adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall dining experience, transforming the waiting period into an opportunity to explore and savor the diverse offerings. Food was amazing overall!! I personally enjoyed Indian Gimlet in cocktails 🍸 Addressing the seating wait times remains crucial, but the outstanding drinks menu serves as a noteworthy highlight that mitigates the impact of the extended wait.

As a vegetarian... For me the place is more of a hype...few vegetarian options... They were good...but very limited.. The service is super good...but the wait time is really long to get seat . The complimentary tea is unmissable on a cold night... Got a complimentary dessert as our anniversary treat.. Thank you for that .

Visited last week and it was great. It was partner’s birthday and we had the seasonal trifle for dessert amongst other lovely things. Best restaurant trifle ever!! All the food was excellent customer service was superlative as always. This is my favourite Dishoom as it’s not too cavernous. Recommended.

The best Indian meal we had in London. Only downside was the wait, as we did not make a reservation prior to coming down. BUT, the 50 mins wait was TOTALLY WORTH IT! The place was buzzing with people who were all enjoying the food and drinks. Did not expect to find such great tasting Indian food in London! A must visit!

    - amazing IPA, one of the best I’ve ever had - chicken ruby was great, creamy and spicy. Good alternative to butter chicken - chicken tika also had an amazing taste and texture. Girlled chicken with indian spiecez - the naan was fluffy and good - the service was perfect - nice atmosphere - moderate prices

I don't normally eat Indian food. But it's worth coming here! We were here on New Year's Eve and were very well served! The food was delicious and the price was very fair. However, you should make a reservation in advance. It's only a bit noisy here when you're entertaining.

The place is always crowded. We waited for an hour to get a table for 2 on a saturday but it was fun as they make the best cocktails. I recommend their ‘special negroni’ with a bitter chocolate! It was delicious! Also, there are many food options, it’s hard to choose. For vegans, they have a separate menu and again many many options to choose.. I recommend this place strongly and I can say that I will be back again and again ! :)

It was a delightful experience. They clearly use high-quality ingredients and offer delicious dishes. Natalie served us tonight, and she was exceptional—knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I opted for their specialty, which closely resembled the Persian dish "gheimeh sibzamini." However, their reservation system could be improved. It seems they may still view it primarily as a form of advertisement (though I have doubts they need it).

Dishoom, a renowned name in the culinary scene, is indeed a bustling hub of activity, as evident from the challenge of securing a table, even for a simple lunch or dinner. Upon entering, the initial inconvenience of waiting at the bar was tactfully turned into an opportunity to indulge in a beverage, a subtle but effective business tactic. The drink, while satisfactory, didn't quite leave a lasting impression. My visit was driven by the desire to sample Dishoom's celebrated breakfast offerings. Opting for the vegan Bombay, egg naan roll, bun maska, and house chai, I eagerly anticipated a flavorful experience. The ambiance, with its charming open veranda and distinctive decor, offered a pleasant setting, especially conducive for enjoying a warm masala chai on a chilly day. The presence of the guard beside the fire pit added a whimsical touch to the atmosphere. However, the culinary journey fell short of expectations. The breakfast menu, tailored for those less familiar with Indian flavors, presented dishes with notably mild tastes and lacking in basic seasoning. The vegan Bombay, comprising vegan sausages, masala beans, tofu bhurji, and mushrooms, failed to deliver the authentic punch of Indian cuisine. The absence of spice necessitated an additional order of green chilies to inject some much-needed flavor. Similarly, the sausages left much to be desired, lacking the distinctiveness that would set them apart. The inclusion of an oversized tomato piece seemed arbitrary and out of place, failing to enhance the overall dish. The bun maska, a traditional Mumbai delicacy, failed to capture the essence of its origin, falling short of expectations. Disappointingly, the house chai failed to impress, lacking the depth and richness expected of a classic Indian tea. The lingering feeling of dissatisfaction persisted even with the naan roll, despite its commendable softness and freshness. The unexpected sweetness within the roll deviated from the anticipated savory profile, further dampening the overall experience. In conclusion, my visit to Dishoom left me with mixed feelings. While the ambiance exuded charm and warmth, the culinary offerings failed to match the hype surrounding the establishment. The breakfast menu, in particular, fell short of delivering the authentic Indian experience, leaving much to be desired in terms of flavor and execution. While I wouldn't dissuade others from visiting, I would advise opting for lunch or dinner over breakfast, in the hopes of a more satisfying culinary experience. Perhaps with focused attention on refining their breakfast offerings, Dishoom can reclaim its former glory and restore its authenticity amidst the sea of tourist-centric establishments.

The ambience is sublime - bustling with activity but somehow still intimate and dreamy - the dishes on offer are diverse yet each one is true to the heart of the place and the descriptions on the menu are gorgeously creative. Every member of the team was kind and polite, but the two who served our little table (number 18, from 5pm) the most were particularly lovely and made our dining experience extra special with their warmth, wisdom and attentiveness. Also, the vegan options were excellent! I especially loved the oat yoghurt Chaat, and was very grateful when a cocktail could be adapted considerately for my diet. All in all, a lovely early Valentine's date. Hopefully we'll find an excuse to visit you again soon, folks!

It was an impromptu lunch drop-in but the staff were very kind to offer us a table though the restaurant was packed! Food, as usual, bursted with flavours! Javier, who served our table, was energetic, positive and lovely. We loved the ambience, food and service! Definitely do try Veg samosa with masala tea!

Great restaurant and bar in the heart of London's Soho. Quick kitchen. Very nice staff. They have a lot of great Indian drinks, try them, they are exquisite. Ideal to go with friends or on a date. Medium price for Soho. Great decoration

We made a late lunch reservation (they don’t take reservations after ~6pm) and had SUCH a delicious meal. The drinks were wonderful, and the food was incredible! It was also surprisingly affordable compared to many of our London dinners.

Amazing food! Everything was super flavorful and tasty! The waitress provided honest and helpful suggestions about our order, as well as recommending the Broccoli Salad - which was superb! Provided a fresh and crispy balance to the rich/spicy dishes. The restaurant has a great vibe. Loved the incense and decor. We were seated in a “cafe” like area, with great lighting! The music was a bit loud… but it was fun. Still was able to have a nice conversation :) My favorites were the Okra fries, Broccoli salad and the Biryani. Big portions as well!

This place is huge and very busy. We arrived fairly early with no reservation, but waited about 45 minutes at the bar and got a table. Our server was incredibly friendly and made our dinner so much enjoyable. The atmosphere is so lively, with all the diners just having a fantastic time. We are no experts in Indian food, but enjoyed everything we had. Everyone we spoke to before our visit had heartily recommended Dishoon, and now we know why.

My favorite Indian restaurant in London. All the different locations are good. The food is just amazing! It's very popular so you might have to wait to get a table but while you wait you can enjoy one of their great cocktails in the bar.

I highly recommend this Indian restaurant in London! Booking a table in advance is a must; otherwise, you might face a 30-minute wait. It's the best Indian spot in town, with a fantastic ambience perfect for family and friends. Whether it's a casual dinner or a lively party, this place has you covered. The authentic Indian flavors are a delight, and the service is top-notch. Plus, they're impressively quick with your food orders.

Yes, my review is unlike other reviews and rating is substantially down. Reason, I am comparing this restaurant with the one in Kensington. I gave Dishoom Kensington 5* because it deserved it (check my profile). From service to food to everything was amazing at Kensington. But this one falls way below standard set by the other location. Food quality - very average. Chicken was tough and house black daal was devoid of flavour. Service - Maybe it was us, as we just walked in without booking. We had to wait for 1.45hr to get in. Restaurant was packed and not even an inch to move. Not sure if they have any policy for overcrowding. Had something gone wrong, it would have been a disaster. Poor management!! Ambience - Well below average. Tables are stacked too close and it just ruins the experience. Verdict - Avoid this and visit Kensington for better experience and value for money.

We visited this place for brunch on a wet staurday morning. The atmosphere typified London - it was bustling with people from all walks of life. Business meetings, friends, families with kids, everything. The service was really nice and friendly and, most importantly for us, the food was just great. It really would be a regular spot for us if we lived closer but, sadly, we were just visiting the area. I highly recommend the house chai!

That 'BOLLYBELLINI' is e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. that changed the game for me. I cannot stress the fact that I would trek here just for this drink. If you ever do cocktail mix packs please let me know because wow. Next we move onto probably the best service staff I have had the pleasure of dining with in London. The food as always was impeccable especially the complexity in flavour in the Dal. Both my cocktails were refreshing but the bellini...You all deserve more than 5 stars!!

Amazing food. Great service and lots of authentic Indian Irani dishes on the menu. The venue was full and though we had a 30 min wait time, the Desi Chai was amazing. Once we got to the table, it was quick and professional service. Each and every dish was unique and flavourful. We have become a fan now of this place. Would highly recommend.

Finally got to Dishoom after always hearing about it but not being able to get a table. A silver lining of Corona is you can book a table for two now! Huge restaurant, lots of diners, very buzzy. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. Good drinks list, (although no cobra beer ?). The food was very tasty, nice spice but not ok much heat. The lamb chops were my favourite. It all came out a little quickly so felt a bit rushed as we were in and out in less than an hour. Will try to go back when not so busy and take our time with ordering.

My favourite restaurant. This is my special occasion restaurant (Dishoom in general) so I don’t go too often. (Translated by Google) Very good food and nice decor! The menu offers dishes very far from those we would expect in an Indian restaurant. However, although the service is of good quality it has deteriorated over time and can be greatly improved. (+) Nice clean toilets (-) The restaurant being large enough, it is therefore noisy (Original) Cuisine très bonne et déco sympathique !

Overall disappointed. Given the current circumstances the food came out super super quick so the service in that sense I just cannot fault. We came for my partners birthday, everyone said happy birthday which was nice but no "celebration" was made. In my opinion there is no point having that option on your website if you're not going to acknowledge the customers requirement. The food was hit and miss. We are an Indian household and many things we cook are on this menu. As a big restaurant in London you want more flavours than your home. Instead one dish was over powered with the wrong masala and the others lacked flavour. Whilst I appreciate London prices too, a glass of orange juice that was mainly ice should never ever be that expensive. We had high hopes and was served with mediocre food. We ordered almost all vegetarian options from the menu, spent a fortune to be left very disappointed

Wow, what a great find. From the front of house to the amazing waiter..... Ross was ours and what a job he did. Talked about the menu, offered advice on what we might enjoy together. The food was amazing, tasted full of flavours. Great choices for vegetarians. Amazing cocktails and all staff said "good bye" as we left. 100% recommend this little gem! Great care with us while COVID 19 is on. Will be back the next time I'm in London....

The curry portion is a lot but not much meat. But overall decent food

Amazing food and service as always. The portion for the black daal was huge, and the jackfruit byriani is one of my favourite vegetarian byrianis!

Amazing Indian food! We waited almost an hour for a table for 2 at 5pm on a Wednesday night and it was absolutely worth it. The service was excellent and very fast, and the food is just superb. The chicken ruby was stellar. I intended to have a small meal and ended up eating every bite! Can’t wait to go back.
