Great manager, great dishes, small but comfortable. Do not seat ilst the table close to the front door as it can get noisy. I would definitely recommend this place since they do have a great variety, fantastic flavors (try the coconut naan!) and nice service from the waiters!

I went to this restaurant today. It was great inside, and the food was very delicious. I had tandoori chicken, lamb sheek kebab, daal makhani, and pilau rice with mango lassi as drink. The mango lassi topped everything, and near second was the sheek kebab. I did not like their daal makhani. Tandoori was tender but it lacked the spice "kick". Overall, good food.

It's quite a decent place. I think they're included in the Michelin guide. The place has a nice ambiance. The food was delicious. But I didn't like the tarka daal. Samosa was overpowering by the sauce. You can barely taste the samosa. . The salted lassi was great. Service was quick and efficient. I think they are run by Bengali people. The atmosphere was nice. The dinner date will be nice over here. I will be visiting them again soon.

We ordered through their web and one of the dishes never arrived. We were told we would get two free starters as compensation in our next order, which sounded reasonable ("don't worry, we will make a note in the system", they said). Next time we called for an order we were told they didn't know what were we talking about, and our free starters were never honoured.

Quality has gone to the floor over the last few years. Ordered a chicken Delhi masala and mattar paneer among other dishes - this meant receiving the chicken in one box and the paneer in another covered in the same non-descript tomato curry. Will not be going back

A shadow of its former self. Once a great Kennington establishment, now a ‘serve it fast’ run of the mill curry house. Very sad. Total inability to deal with a simple allergy request, served the wrong food, rude waiters.

Tikka tastes like tomato soup. Dansak wasn’t very sweet or sour. Naan lacked coconut flavours. Reasonable food, but at that price, would expect better.

As world renowned author, Harry Potter’s creative mind, J.K. Rowling has dined in and mentioned this place in her book, Lethal White, the Kennington Tandoori is a gem, Michelin guide recommended, Indian restaurant in London. Owners hosted us for the dinner and has a great time and company with my son. Good food, clean and cozy atmosphere, hospitality and good company; what else would one to ask to have a nice dinner with loved ones. Definitely recommend Kennington Tandoori to have nice Indian meals and conversations with your family and friends.

Had an early dinner at 6pm and the place was not busy, which was perfect as we got all orders very quick. The food was lovely. We had the Kashmiri lamb: tasty, fall off the bone. Dumb byriani: not too bad but the presentation was stunning. Came in mini dum pot with a divine dhall Okra: this was so yummy and tasty Bread: peswari and garlic coriander naan were very tasty too

Best curry house in the area by far, just excellent. Also a rare example of the food being basically as good as a takeaway as it is in the restaurant itself, which is hardly ever the case. No brainer to take out from here again, but also the restaurant is incredible too, will 100% go back

Have had take outs and eat ins at the KT for a good few years now. Always reliable and great value.Take out tonight was outstanding - splendid breads, chicken tandoori and goan lamb- samosa and prawn puri also very good. Great treat after a long drive down from the North!

  • 5/5 Phoebe A. 2 years ago on Google
Really great festive menu and service! Great okra, samosas, and paneer with vegetables. The chicken tikka masala was also very good (although slightly on the sweet side). Also enjoyed the sides and kulfi. We will definitely be back soon!

WORST REATAURANT EVER. I generally don’t provide reviews but this restaurant is to another level of lies and bad customer service. They made me wait for 3 hours saying order is on the way and never delivered. Please DO NOT ORDER

Absolutely spot in meal.... Had the mixed starter which I would definitely recommend. Full advisor biryani which came with a pastry top! The lamb was very tender and the doll was not too hot. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend. Also do very good non alcoholic drink KT Thirst Quencher. Good service from Ali!

Average Indian restaurant. Food quite bland so not surprising it was empty when I visited.

The food and service was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Indian food.

This review is based only on their takeaways (which are delicious) and not their restaurant, which I've not been too. Lamb samosas for starters are a must. Legend has it that David Cameron's last take away in Number 10 was from here, but let's not hold that against KT.

Im very happy with my meal. KT tandoori still the best in town. I had a Goan vindaloo of kentish lamb. Lamb was soft and succulent with perfect amount of heat. Overall taste was on point.

Curry had no flavour and naan bread was completely burnt, you could even smell it was burnt

Wonderful meal this evening. We loved the starter platter and all our main meals were delicious. The service was great; attentive but not officious.

Went on a Saturday night expecting it to be a lively atmosphere and a nice evening. We were the only ones there and when they brought the chicken korma we ordered it was pink. We left and didn't even get an apology from the staff.

Excellent Indian. Been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. They even let you order your poppadoms before you order your main dish these days.

  • 1/5 Rocío M. 1 year ago on Google
The rudest place ever. I called for a late delivery and they would ask me 5 times my details, I’d answer and they would raise their voice, interrupt, and be incredibly disrespectful. I just wanted to check if my delivery was coming soon. Lastly, when I was able to ask a question, the person on the phone with me immediately answered that they can’t answer if I am not finishing my questions. Well, I’m pretty sure if they’d listen, they’d be well and able to answer. Good luck if you ever order from there. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Flavoursome food and regional specialities, vastly more interesting and tasty and fresher than generic “curry houses” . charming service. A gem in an otherwise limited local selection. The hot curries are definitely hot so take care!

Ordered a chicken curry. Chicken was Raw… pink and slimy on the inside. Thankfully I checked before eating and hopefully I don’t get sick from trying the sauce! Absolutely unacceptable.

"It was really impressive! Family meal for dads birthday. Staff were great with the kids …and adults 😊 Food was lovely and restaurant was busy but you didn’t feel any less important or slow service. They even did a special ‘happy birthday’ message for dad. Well done for being so attentive and thanks so much 😁"

    Lovely food. Momos were delicious.

  • 5/5 Tim L. 4 years ago on Google
Ignore mediocre ratings - this place is awesome. One of the problems I find with review systems is not enough recognition for long-standing institutions like this one ...check out the press - politicians, businesspeople and locals have been dining here for decades. And the awesome food explains why. We particularly enjoyed the seasonal autumn menu with saffron gin and pumpkin curry - delicious and very very high quality. Highly recommend and we’ll be back.

Got food poisoning from the curry. Takeaway menu not quite what was expected! To top it off, the Manager's attitude shocking when called. Certainly won't be back.

Must be under New management .... Why are the staff so rude? They are meant to be a fine dining establishment. The food has been hit and miss for the past six months. Give it a go, see for yourself....

  • 3/5 Hugo K. 3 years ago on Google
The food is excellent but unfortunately it is just overpriced. I only order from here every few months due to the cost. If they reduced their prices by 10-15% it would probably be every week or two but out of principle I can’t bring myself to do it.

Lucky to get one star. Website said order would be 65 minutes. Phoned after 75 minutes, told would be 10minutes. Phoned after 2hours told would be 15mins. Called again after 2hrs 30mins and blamed delay (but not the twice they lied directly to customer) on the extraordinary circumstances they find themselves in. No food, no refund. Is a con

Would absolutely recommend trying out this place. Excellent ambience, flavorful dishes, great customer service. They never disappoint.

  • 4/5 B H. 7 years ago on Google
Top notch food, probably the best quality Indiain I have had in London. At £70 for 2 people for two beers, a shared starter, two mains, a shared rice and papadoms it is at the higher end in terms of price but worth the treat. Great staff.

I have had many meals at Kennington Tandoori and have been happy but tonight's meal was absolutely bland and cold. Clearly the chef was having a bad day, I've tasted better boil in the bag meals. Sadly you have now lost my custom and any future recommendations.

  • 3/5 nerissa j. 4 years ago on Google
Ambience is nice, the presentation of the food is good however the amount you receive is pitiful. the service from the waiters is very poor, felt quite uncomfortable ordering , there are no pleasantries or smiles just men with hard faces on a bad wage taking it out on people coming to eat.

To all that want to have a special Indian lunch or dinner experience, I recommend this place. We came here for lunch and our waiter Syed took excellent care our table. Any question was followed up by a wonderful and helpful reply. Very friendly and helpful 10 out of 10!

  • 1/5 Mandy W. 4 years ago on Google
Absolutely horrendous customer service! Got there after 10pm and was given the look of death.I asked if they were about to close? No, they were open til 11pm and gave us a table. I don’t know why they even bothered; they obviously wanted to close early! They were rude, obnoxious and their food was overpriced and nothing to sing about. Please, do not put any more money in their pockets and for the odd reviewer who said their customer service was excellent, you are a big fat fake, probably being paid for it?- not in free curries I hope?!

Ordered twice on Just-Eat while on a business trip. Advertise as delivering to where I am staying. Cancelled my ordered on two different days/times

  • 2/5 Christian D. 4 years ago on Google
So the place is nice and modern, that's great, however it's just not a great amount of food. I ordered prawns for a starter and TWO small prawns came out! For £9 it's an extortion. The chicken tikka tasted nice at least but again not a great deal of food, so a simple lunch turned into a very costly meal! The waiter is also scary and confused himself time after time on what we ordered. The final straw was when the staff were arguing in front of everyone. Not a nice experience, won't be coming back.

Really bad experience with this business. They are essentially thieves, both the proprietor and his wife Rukhsana Hoque will steal from you. Beware.
