A couple of good dishes but some misses as well. Went there for lunch. Service is fast, friendly and not rushed. Got a few dishes to share. The hummus with brown butter tasted good, but it was runny and there was very little of it. The falafel tasted a lot like baking soda and were mushy. However, the mushroom skewers were great, you don't miss the meat, albeit slightly salty. The roasted cauliflower was probably my favorite dish, especially with the salsa macha. The labneh was good too. Despite these issues, I think they showcase what a vegetarian restaurant can be. It's also vegan and gluten-free friendly.

After hearing some raving reviews about this place from our friends and colleagues we decided to give it a try. As we were told, the food was truly exceptional in terms of flavours (we ordered the vegetarian sharing menu) and portions were really generous! Even if you’re a meat eater (like I am) you should really give their vegetarian menu a try as some dishes tasted really ‘meat-like’ (special mention to the oyster mushrooms skewers that tasted almost like yakitori ones with a Middle Eastern twist!). However, I had to knock down a star for several reasons. First, the service was really rushed and for a 10 course tasting menu it kind of negatively impacted our experience as we felt we didn’t have time to properly enjoy our meal. Secondly, the restaurant was quite small so it felt a bit crammed when we got to our table. Finally, the background music was way too loud and in disconnect with what we were eating (house music really didn’t fit in the setting…). Overall, we had a good experience at Bubala but we probably won’t return.

We've had a bad experience in the restaurant today. We ordered one vegan and one vegetarian menu for £35 each - at least that's what we thought. What we didn't know was that there is not such thing as a £35 menu as you are automatically billed £70 (for 2 people), So, when we received the bill, we realized that we were charged £140 in total instead of the expected £70. The menu, however, makes no mention of this fact and the waiter said nothing about it. When I told the manager about this issue after the meal and suggested that they clarify the pricing on the menu itself, he failed to fully acknowledge the problem and said something along the lines of 'that's how you see it'. The food is good and deserves 4 stars, but the misleading pricing bordering on dishonesty makes the restaurant's 'worth' much less.

What can I say? Absolutely delicious! What a vibe! We enjoyed the weekend lunch menu for £40pp and couldn’t finish all of the food. So many intense flavors and combinations. The restaurant offers vegetarian and vegan set menus, as well as an a la cart menu. I also have to rave about the tequila strawberry cosmopolitan. Yum!!

I’ve been to Bubala 3 times and every time has been faultless. They are veggie / vegan and when I last went, which was for my birthday lunch in the upstairs private dining room, we had the vegan option of the Bubala knows best set menu. It was AMAZING! Everyone (including meat eaters) loved the food so much, really good combination of flavours. The mushroom skewers were one of my favourite dishes, but hard to say as every single dish was really good. Can’t wait to go back!

As a big meat eater I can solidly say 10/10 - Didn’t even miss the meat at all. The oyster mushrooms were so meaty and smokey and the halloumi was like no halloumi I’ve ever had! A must eat place for everyone.

We had a really great time at Bubala, with the ambience and food adding to our night. The food was really delicious and the restaurant has done a great job with all the vegetables. It’s one of the best vegetarian restaurants I’ve been too and the food is great!

Had one of the best lunches I’ve ever had today at Bubala, after wanting to go here for a long time I booked a lunch for my partner’s birthday. We had the Bubala Mezze set menu and not one of the dishes disappointed, in fact everything was so incredible good we couldn’t even pick a favourite. If the food wasn’t enough the service is also amazing, Lara was the perfect host, she made the experience outstanding! We will definitely be back.

One of the best restaurants I have been to in London. All vegetarian / vegan and delicious. Every dish is so flavourful. I have been there 3x now and it was better each time. We went yesterday to celebrate a few different family birthdays. Our waitress Kat yesterday was particularly helpful too and made it an even better experience.

Bubala is easily one of my favorite middle eastern restaurants in London. The food is fresh, flavorful and filling. The staff are really warm and friendly too. We ordered the labneh, laffa bread, charred oyster mushroom skewers, cucumbers and confit potato latkes - each and every dish was absolutely scrumptious! Highly recommend all these dishes. I'll be back very soon to try out other dishes.

Amazing vegan and vegetarian food. Well priced food and everything was tasty! The halloumi dish is worth the hype too. Waiting to go back when things reopen!

Had a brilliant dinner here last weekend. Fantastic variety of vegetarian dishes (which was perfect for my partner who struggles to find great options that aren’t all the same). Also great value for money, and great, friendly service. The pickles, laffa bread and hispi cabbage were absolutely delicious! Could not recommend this place highly enough!

Avoid the Bubala scam and do not waste what could be a convivial meal gathering - on coming to Bubala. 1. Upon reserving a table in Bubala the price that one is repeatedly asked to confirm in their online reservation interface is 32.50 pounds for a set menu per person . Yet, you will then find out later that in fact this alleged 32.50 charge is actually 40.00 due to some extra charge with which they top up the alleged price that was originally noted in their reservation interface. 2. To make things much worse, when you arrive there and need to choose between their 2 set options of vegan/vegetarian menus, they then will tell you that in fact what is listed in the set menu per person, is what they will serve for 2 people to share, so you will actually get half the listed menu/portions per person, but they will charge you double for it. In practice, it now turns out that the listed menu of originally 32.50 that became 40.00 actually becomes 80.00 pounds. 3. Moreover, even if their set menu would be honestly served for a single person rather than 2 - the portions in which they serve the dishes in the set menu are ridiculously tiny, with the layer of hummus on the small plate, for example, being literally infinitesimal, or very little bread to accompany with. 4. The table per party is too small, the plates are also too small. 5. The dishes are also not spiced properly, being mostly too salty, or for example too hot when unfit for the dish. 6. The staff and the ambiance is disagreeable, for example immediately offering water for which you will be charged extra, crabby staff, and constantly rushing you to clear the table as you eat. As a connoisseur of mediterranean/Israeli cuisine and restaurants - Bubala does not live up to and in fact has nothing to do with the proper standards of this cuisine and/or hospitality. Do not waste your precious time and money there.

Dishpatch’s excellent service; BUBALA’s brilliant delicious vegan dinner delivered to our door on the South Coast UK in recyclable packaging. We added one meat dish of our own. I’m including screenshots of the restaurants Google Maps page and their Dishpatch menu. We often use Dishpatch because the service is first rate and they’ve a varied selection of dinners they deliver in carefully designed and recyclable boxes. The food doesn’t have to be eaten on the day; usually it can last 3 or more days. Also there’s plenty to eat for dinner with leftovers contributing to following meals/snacks. Bubala cooked many delicious dishes for us, thank you, with two prepared and needing reheating or finishing. As you can see from the photos there are lots of dishes and many flavours..we would love to eat in their restaurant. CH

Honestly my favorite restaurant in the entire world. Middle eastern food elevated to gourmet level and yet still as comforting as your grandma’s cooking. Portions are very generous, everything is super tasty and refined. Even the homemade drinks are amazing! I’ve recommended it over and over and everyone’s loved it! The staff is really welcoming, professional and warm. The atmosphere is intimate and joyful… it’s a 10/10 experience

Let’s start by saying that the bread changed my day 🔥🚀 great food and nice ambience. Would recommend. You will need to order several dishes as portions are small. Would be even better if there were 2-3 real mains on the menu (ie slightly bigger portions). Hard to find availability online. Dog friendly 🐶

We had the vegetarian tasting menu, it was really good taste-wise! The service felt a bit rushed though and we were brought the bill without having asked for it. I understand they are tight for space but still, if you spend £35 for a tasting menu, you don't want to feel rushed finishing it.

We were passing by Bubala quite often and after checking their menu, decided to book a table there. We had the vegetarian tasting menu that consists of 10 dishes. The food was really good, the mushroom skewers, the bread, and the hummus were among my favorite ones. The waitresses were friendly, professional, and the service was good overall. The only thing I'd change is probably the music that was too loud and felt like it didn't really work well with the overall vibe.

Such a wonderful restaurant. The food is excellent and the staff is so kind. Truly such a lovely group of people working at Bubala. We tried so many items off the a la carte lunch menu, I wish we could have tried them all. So much flavour in every dish. Don’t skip the halloumi, it was divine!

Every foodie friend has talked to me about Bubala and I now understand why! I had high expectations going in and I loved every bit of the whole experience. The vibe, the simple menu, everything was vegetarian and delicious! The hummus with burnt butter, labneh with confit garlic, stacked potatoes (Confit potato latkes) and oyster mushroom skewers were mind-blowingly good. Everything was good. Just eat the halloumi as soon as it comes as it hardens and becomes less good.

Bubala means 'darling' in yiddish and happy to confirm this is a darling of a middle Eastern spot. Dining in you have the option of a vegetarian or vegan set menu- we went for the vegetarian and it was excellent! The oyster mushrooms, smacked cucumbers, and blackseed honey halloumi were our favourites- full of flavour and slightly different to what we would normally eat. They got the basics right too with the laffa bread with labneh and humus which were also banging. Definitely recommend if you're looking for quality and flavour filled non meat middle Eastern food!

Bubala was a truly delicious vegan/vegetarian experience. The portions were generous, the flavours rustic, and the food just kept coming! The oyster mushrooms were phenomenal and a real highlight. Certain aspects of the ordering process were a little confusing at first, it seems that you have to decide as a table whether you would like the food to be either vegetarian or vegan, rather than ordering individually. However, the split between vegan and vegetarian worked for our table. Sadly, our bill was overcharged by £30 which we only noticed when we got home, but we were refunded.

An amazing dinner, served by awesome staff in a buzzy atmosphere. Came after hearing about Bubala on the Off Menu podcast and it did not disappoint. The starters especially were absolutely incredible - even best the famous latkes for me! We had the Vegetarian Bubala knows best menu and advice would be, come hungry. It’s a lot of food and it’s rich. Absolutely divine and great value. We didn’t enjoy the wine we chose, so maybe ask for recommendations there. The staff are absolutely lovely and really helpful. Worth every penny.

Wow wow wow! One of the best meals I have had in london in a while. Middle eastern flavours with unique twists. The flavours were insane. Every dish was a sensation. The hummus with burnt butter.... just wow. The mushroom kebabs. The carrots on whipped cauliflower with apricot salsa... the list goes on. This place is a stand out restaurant in London for me. Excellent staff and service and good drinks/wine selection. A must visit.

Amazing. We were countertop for dinner, and had the vegetarian sharing menu. It was more than enough for the two of us, and lovely wines too. Everything was great - we felt we could’ve gladly eaten even just the bread and dips all evening.

I had a birthday lunch at Bubala and it was superb. The staff were fantastic, the food was delicious, so carefully balanced and prepared. They were even kind enough to bring us their delicious salted caramel truffles with a birthday candle. Totally unpretentious dining. Just perfect.

One of our favorites in terms of food and flavors! We had the set dinner menu (vegan version) which was all round delicious. There are however quite a lot of dishes to get through in 1.5 hours (9 total not counting desserts) and we felt a bit rushed at the end of our meal. The staff is very accommodating.

Wow. This place is was amazing! We had the lunchtime taster option, which was delicious and great value. We had so much food and so many dishes to try. Everything is vegetarian or vegan, and virtually completely gluten free. I think this will be one of my new favourite London restaurants.

Went to Bubala in Spitalfields for lunch and had the set menu. Every dish was absolutely delicious and really unique flavours, with our favourites being the oyster mushroom skewers and the labneh dip. The portions were very generous and well worth the price. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and although we didn’t have a reservation they were able to accommodate us with seats at the bar. Highly recommend!

Got the bubies takeaway on deliveroo. Outstanding food and I have spent a lot of time in israel. The latkes are incredible and they even gave me an extra side of crispy aubergine 🍆

Simply brilliant. Had an anniversary dinner with my partner and this is some of the best food we've had. I'm vegan, so I felt very at ease here with the vegan set menu, every dish that came out was perfection. They even greeted us with a complimentary anniversary glass of bubbly!!! Lovely, welcoming staff; beautiful restaurant. We will be back!!!!

Such good cooking! Completely floored by the quality of ingredients and the cooking - totally stellar! Thoroughly enjoyed lunch, tried the vegetarian set menu, very filling and extremely reasonable pricing. Do not miss the cocktails as well, fantastic! Will highly recommend!

Very delicious food with a lot of efforts in each dish. Service was very prompt. The only thing is that the portion is quite small for all of the 7-8 dishes we had. Overall a very pleasant dining experience.

Such a delicious vegan vegetarian restaurant! We came for dinner and were not disappointed. You can only have the set menu for dinner which is £35pp for a vegan or vegetarian menu. We had a mix and the dishes were amazing! The dips and breads, mushroom skewers were a highlight but everything was delicious! Set menu doesn’t include desert but the service was amazing and we had an awesome night here!

Second time at Bubala but this time I was a lot more appreciative. The eat out to help out menu was really good value (see pictures for content) and had so many flavoursome dishes. The labneh was my favourite alongside the halloumi in black seed honey. They'd also taken decent measures with perspex screens and staff wearing plastic masks.

As a self confessed carnivore Bubala (meaning a sweetie, darling, a term of endearment) was a wonderful surpise. The vegetarian Middle Eastern sharing plates menu is served in a small and narrow room with counter seating. I would recommend the vegetarian set menu (£35 per person) which includes nine dishes from cloudy humus to halloumi with black seed honey to savoy cabbage, caramelised cauliflower & hazelnut. The food is full of flavour and surprisingly filling. The dessert menu offers four chices. I would highly recommend the coconut malabi (£5.50) which is fresh and indulgent. The service is extraordinarily friendly and warm. Book your table ahead of time as Bubala gets busy especially during the weekends.

Absolutely fantastic. Tasting menu is brilliant value. Loads of food, all very interesting, one of the best meals I've had in ages.

  • 4/5 Garth S. 2 years ago on Google
All veggie menu. Great food and good variety. Really enjoyed the mushroom dish. But as a vegetarian myself, it is great to see so many options on the menu.

  • 3/5 L M. 2 years ago on Google
Decent fare with a special mention to the mushrooms and aubergine dishes. Mains were a little bland in comparison. Main gripe is the pace at which they send the food out and get you out of the door. Felt rushed and dampened the overall enjoyment . One minute we are brought a glass of wine and the dessert menu, the next we were given the bill. Probably would be better to order less a la carte and have time to enjoy the food /the friends.
