My first time visit with friends were brilliant, taste good serving portion alright and food presentation very appealing. That’s why I visited again two months later with my family. This second visit was much to the contrary. I ordered two lunch bento by pointing to the menu provided to the server. The one my son ordered was good which was the Lobster tempura bento. Mine being served a bowl of rice with sashimi on top, and I thought that was the sushi bento I ordered. I was bit queried about that but my second thought told me such outstanding restaurant would not served me wrong. I validly thought that might be the way this restaurant served my bento and I was expecting the rest of my food namely sushi, miso soup and salad to be served. After consuming for maybe 10 minutes nothing came to our table and therefore I enquired with a server . What eventually found out was the bowl of rice I was eating was a la carte named Chirashizushi! This a la carte was in pages behind the lunch bento menu and I had never pointed that page to the male server, needless to say I would not know how to pronounce that in Japanese. The female server whom I was talking to at that moment said they could serve me the original sushi bento if I would love to. I replied yes please do. would you, as a reasonable man under that circumstance expect the mistake of this improper serving to be borne by the customer? This end up being the case! When I checked the bill the female server said as I raised my query as food already being consumed for a portion, therefore I had to pay for the Chirashizushi ! No apology for the whole mistake being made by the server! The whole thing seem to me was mistake of customer’s end! I would say there’s lot of outstanding Japanese restaurants in London (Zuma being one I had visited twice and would recommend gals to try instead of this Hannah restaurant). I come not only for food but whole experience including service atmosphere and hospitality. If you want to pay for the price for mistakes made by the restaurant, then go ahead to this Hannah restaurant! I will never visit and will advise my friends and social media fans not to as well!

Decided to give this place a try because it was voted as one of the best Japanese restaurant by Conde Nast Traveller. Went there on the 22nd of Oct 2022. Had the ten course omakase menu. The dishes were exquisitely presented (it was autumn so lots of autumn themed accessories such as autumn leaves, beautiful orange colour palette). The food was original without being too cleaver. The ten course is more like a twenty course menu since some of the courses comes with 4 or 5 mini dishes. It wasn’t too crowded when we were there. It seems to be popular with rich Chinese students / expats. The reason why I gave it four-star instead of five is no fault of theirs. The restaurant is located in an old town hall, and the toilet looks like it’s a school toilet. It’s not something you would expect for a high end Japanese restaurant, but I know this is not something they can change. The staff where friendly, and ever so eager to make sure you enjoy your food. Overall, it was a good experience.

This might be the best restaurant I've ever been to that doesn't have a michelin star yet. The chef and his team have created an intriguing menu using Japanese concepts, Japanese and local British ingredients, and also local ceramic products that come together for an incredible multi-sensory experience. The food is excellent and well worth traveling for.

10/10 restaurant - we came for the 3 course lunch and everything exceeded expectations. The staff were so attentive, the atmosphere was relaxed, the beautiful presentation of the food was more than matched by its taste. Even the little things like the small glass of tomato water that comes out before the starter was so good we wanted to drink the whole jug! PS would recommend getting the selection of Japanese desserts as an add on.

Thank you Hannah for today’s 8 course omakase kaiseki-inspired lunch! All the dishes was delicate and beautiful, service very friendly and attentive and atmosphere relaxed! The tomato water was so tasty.. unbelievable.., other strong points are smoked sea bream tataki, cuttlefish, scallop soba, and of course wagyu . Almost forgot to take photo of the amazing japanese tea ice cream.

Starter is the best! Wagyu and sashimi is of good quality too! However, the quality of sea urchin and crab is not of top quality but understandable for its price. Overall, it is a great meal! Chef is skilled and creative. I like the way the chef use herbs and plants. I would definitely recommend it!

Some of the most amazing food one can imagine. Delicious, amazing flavours and textures. Great seasonal presentation. Attentive and lovely lady running front of house. Honestly some of the best food I have ever had and with the sake pairing (not necessary) it made a very good experience. However the bulding / facilities are not great, Which is a shame when you pay so much for a meal. The food is totally worth it but at the level they aspire to, one expects the whole thing to be as luxurious as the food but in this place they just can't provide this. I would recommend to anyone who wants an amazing culinary experience. BTW, I am not a dessert person but I would have their tea ice-cream any time. Thank you for an amazing meal and fantastic customer service.

This was my family's first time visiting Hannah Japanese restaurant for my mum's birthday. We were not disappointed! We were welcomed by the authentic interior and lovely staff. We'd ordered an omakase menu, donburi, wagyu bento, vegetable bento and a starter. Though a little pricey for the portion, it was definitely worth it as every meal was delicious! I would recommend the lunch omakase (despite it being on the more pricey end- £65) to enjoy a variety of dishes.

Hannah offers and amazing dining experience. We got the 11 courses tasting menu, very recommended. The combination of flavours and ingredients is incredible and the staff explain each dish, which is helpful. They are extremely nice too. The atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxing and cozy. Highly recommended

My Fiancé surprised me with an Omakase Lunch meal at Hannah Japanese restaurant for our anniversary and we had such a great time. We were blown away by the food- the quality and presentation. Everything was meticulously prepared and was served with care. Our servers - Ryu, and the rest of the team, were giving us tips on what to eat first and recommended us the best tea. We are so grateful for the anniversary cake they prepared for us. It was a great dining experience. Highly recommended!

All Bento boxes come with Simmered Vegetables • 2 Kinds Chefs Choice Sashimi • Miso Soup • Seasonal Salad • Steamed Rice AHAB ratings for Starters 🍱🍱🍱🍱 (4/5 Bentos) The fried chicken were lightly battered, crispy and not greasy - definitely a guilt fear dish. 😋 AHAB ratings for Mains 🍱🍱🍱🍱🍱 (5/5 Bentos) The Bentos were a lovely piece of art, each part were refreshing and packed with flavours. AHAB ratings for Price 🍱🍱🍱🍱🍱 (5/5 Bentos) Surprisingly enough, the meal even for just one was filling, you can easily spend £30-£40pp and be satisfied. AHAB ratings for Ambience 🍱🍱🍱🍱 (4/5 Bentos) The harmony flowed from the decor through to the dishes, such a calm atmosphere and the only thing that was missing was some sort of zen music. 🧘🏻🧘🏾‍♂️ Although Hannah Japanese restaurant is Michelin guided, it’s casual and laid back than we’d expected it to be which was nice for a Sunday luncheon with friends.

Had the dinner omakase recently with my family and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very pricey but I genuinely feel like the ingredients and care taken in the food itself makes it well warranted. Definitely on special occasions though. The tartar urchin dish was amazing. I just wish it were two smaller pieces as it was quite the mouthful and would have been nice to enjoy two bites instead. The dessert had a flambé dish that only 1 out of 4 dishes were able to catch fire. This meant while my dessert was incredible, everyone else's whisky content was too strong. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience with friendly service who explained each dish further than simply naming ingredients.

Visited here a couple of years ago but I believe they changed their menu now. I appreciate they still decided to serve us when they were about to close. Excellent service and food. I would definitely recommend.

Can honestly say this was the best meal I’ve ever had! My fiancé and I went last weekend as we were in London for the bank holiday and a friend had recommended Hannah to us. From start to finish, the staff were amazing, friendly, incredibly attentive and so helpful with their sake suggestions The food was incredible and honestly, perfect. There wasn’t a single flaw at any point! Will definitely be eating here again!!

Enjoyable culinary experience. Really interesting and fun ways to plate and serve food. 8 course dinner with sake pairing. Our favourites were Otto and wagyu. Service was lovely and swift. As soon as we finished a course, the next course came out in a timely pace. Unfortunately, I had to give 1 less star due to the atmosphere and communal toilet in the hallway. Spotlights are far too strong, and hitting our eyes/faces, try and adjust the lighting to aim at the plates at the centre of the table rather than the customers. The restaurant area itself was decorated nicely. The serving plates and glasses were unique, some antiques, and some contemporary.

Amazing omakase dinner. As a foodie, there were a number of dishes that were some of the best I have ever eaten. Expect a diverse, seasonal, and beautifully traditional selection of plates that blend an authentic Japanese approach to cooking with local British fish and ingredients. Cuttlefish sashimi, prawns with soft tofu, A5 wagyu and dover sole cooked over charcoal were some special highlights. The service was great too. Really glad we found this gem, I would fully recommend experiencing this place.

Went for lunch bento set. It was absolutely amazing. Portion was quite generous too for such high quality Japanese. The grilled chicken was perfectly made. We also ordered the lobster tempura - really fresh lobster, full of flavour, again perfectly made. Highly recommend and I'll be back soon. This is 5*+ place ❤️

I had the Chirashizushi (£31) for lunch which came with a miso soup and salad. The salad and soup is like any you'd have in a Japanese restaurant and the salad didn't have much dressing. The sashimi bowl is visually very appealing, and has about 14 pieces of sashimi. Though the pieces are in smaller pieces, some have special garnishing which makes the flavours really stand out, and you can taste the freshness of the fish. There is a scattering of salmon roe on a bed of rice that is cooked just right, and there were small balls of wasabi and vegetable (ie. Snow pea, pickled mushroom, lotus root) you can have with the fish. You'll have to navigate carefully around those, but that in itself is an experience! The decor and music makes it perfect for a meal to impress. There's an option for a more luxurious bowl, and maybe ill come back as a celebratory meal (~70). They also do omakase experiences.

Excellent dinner experience! The Omakase dinner set is a bit pricey but definitely worth the price. I genuinely liked the chef and his team’s idea of joining traditional Japanese with British cuisine which took the whole Omakase experience to the next level. Each dish was fresh, well balanced and very flavorful. We especially loved the deep fried abalone with the liver sauce and the Cornish crab gohan which brings out the umami flavour so well. Other than that, the friendly and professional service made it a very enjoyable experience - they explained each dish in detail which enhanced the experience further. A big shout out to Ryu for the great service!
