I have been coming to the Grenadier since I moved to London in 1997. Every time I am back it simply moves me; no music, no pretentious customers, no hipster beer in jam jars. I sat here with my dad, with my best mates and often just on my own at the end of a long day in London. It simply is the best place. Full stop. (And so good that it’s hard to find!)

Beautiful, small mews pub, steeped in history. Apparently a former Army Officers’ Mess. Came here to avoid the crowds at the weekend of our late Queen’s funeral. Off the beaten track, so definitely more of a locals’ pub than a tourists’ pub. Lovely zinc bar and a good choice of cask and keg. Enjoyed a couple of pints of well-kept Landlord. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Great selection of beers and friendly bar service. The fish and chips was a good large portion and cooked to perfection. The beef Wellington was indeed yummy and proper albeit pricey. Venue felt like dining at someone’s house with tables spread across multiple small rooms. Overall, an enjoyable experience and would return.

I very rarely leave reviews but I had such a lovely evening out for Christmas Eve that I just have to. Beef Wellington for him and Veggie Wellington for me, both with delicious roast veg and gravy. Fantastic food and the perfect cozy atmosphere! Really a gem in London.

Truly excellent tucked away little pub. Good selection of tasty food, decent bar meals and even better snacks (Scotch Eggs are to die for). Three or four ales on, and a seasonal selection of cocktails. Prices reasonable for where it is.

Great to be back after a years absence. I never tire of this place. A real hidden gem in London that you need someone to tell you about to find, as there is no chance you're going to be accidentally walking past this pub. In fact it's so good I'm not even going to divulge where it is as we don't want more people finding it! Do we? If you've found this review and can find the place then you deserve to be here. Cheers! Out of the way gem of a bar that's tucked away in a seemingly residential corner of London. Incredibly friendly staff! Great selection of beer and cider. Great bar eats! Highly recommend trying the Scotch eggs! Be sure to look up while you're there. The ceiling is also covered in dollar bills with little messages written on them.

Nice place, not sure how anyone finds but it was crowded. We were happy they could take us without reservations. The Beef Wellington was good. The duck was not very tender.

This discreet pub has an Intimate bar with additional seating in the rear. Food was excellent, well presented and well priced. Friendly staff and diverse clientele. A very atmospheric and historic pub with its own ghost. A gem of Belgravia.

One of the best secret pubs in London. We stumbled upon it on the way back to our hotel, and had dinner there. Great vibe - locals and students frequent it, and you can't blame them - the place is fantastic from the food to the service to the decor. Ceiling is covered with paper money. It almost make you feel like you go back in time. A wonderful experience.

Very nice pub with pretty good food and a lovely atmosphere. The pub is really nice, has a traditional feeling to it as it is quite small and feels authentic. Nice staff and good drinks. Food is pretty good, burger a bit dry and the beef wellington, at £32 probably isn’t worth it, but pork and chicken roast were good. Recommended for a nice drink

The place was recommended to us by a friend and wow are we glad we went. A proper English pub with loads of history and a friendly atmosphere. On the ceiling there are money to pay the debt of the resident ghost! There is currency from all over the world and even my home country, Iceland. We ordered an asparagus cesar salad, duck breast with mash and truffle parmesan fries. Everything was really tasty and reasonably priced. We tried the Grenadier ale and some IPAs.

Great intimate pub in Belgravia, a stone throw away from Hyde Park Corner, well hidden in a quiet mews. Full of history, very cozy - we went for dinner and had an excellent beef Wellington. The atmosphere was excellent and all the history is on the walls and on the ceiling !

Unless you were taken there - you'd be hard pressed to find even if you do know London well. Had a great time there with the boys, drinks reasonable. Didn't get to eat there - but the food that was coming out looked like decent pub food. Service excellent, friendly staff, clean bathrooms. Roof is plastered with currency from all over the world...

Best Wellington beef in London!Cozy pub with a friendly service. Me and friend of mine shared a scotch egg and truffle chips with parmisan cheese and finally got a very generous portion of sticky toffee pudding, everything was simply amazing! What a discover! It’s already been one of my favorite pub!

Very small venue tucked away in a quiet street. We didn’t have a booking and was lucky to get a table on a very busy Saturday afternoon. We had the scallop which was delicious followed by the fish and chips. I am not normally a chip person and I find myself unable to stop eating the chips! The sauce tasted handmade which was a treat. We have already decided we will be coming back to try the beef wellington next!

I am just going to talk about the Wellington because is the onlybwe had. S P E C T A C U L A R. It is the best i have had ever. Not only the beef that is a 10, also de gravy, the onion, the carrot, everything perfectly balance. The beef, like butter, tender tender tender. The atmosphiere of the pub is also very good. Two points to improve from my point of view. The tables, at leat ours, was very very close from the one besides us. And the lights, i think it could be a litle bit brigther. Again, the best Wellington i have ever had. We will recommend it and we will come back.

Super hard to find, you have to go down multiple alley ways. The food was amazing. I went to this place because the beef Wellington had really good ratings. The place was really busy, so make sure you have reservation.

I think if you’re coming here then you’re eating. It’s a pseudo gastro pub but in a proper old dining room style, so the food, which I didn’t try, may well be good. My rating is based on its appeal as a pub. The service is great and price at £7 a pint was standard for central London. The decor showing grenadier history is nice, with some good oil paintings. The bar is pretty modern for what appears to be a classic old school pub from the Mews accessed entrance. The toilets are small and pokey, through the restaurant. The clientele were what you might expect around Hyde Park corner. Suited, stale, pale, males talking business. Fine but it’s not great for general atmosphere. Has a feel of a pub you don’t pop into for a pint, rather one you go for a drink followed by a fairly posh pub dinner. Not what I usually look for but has its place.

Rightfully located in the the Mayfair area of London, we were looking for a true British pub. We were referred to The Grenadier by our hotel concierge. Greeted with the most delightful staff, in the smallest of spaces, they made you feel right at home. The foods were on point and the food did not disappoint. When you think of fish and chips, this one was probably the best I’ve ever had. Crispy and flakey fried in a way that the whole filet and batter melts away in your mouth. Sat next to us randomly was another American couple, that we thought, if another american couple came here, and we were recommended here, we must be in the right spot.

The Grenadier is an awesome pub. I would love to go back! I rated it 4 stars because the bartender forgot to put my order for a Beef Wellington in to the kitchen. After 60 minutes, 2 pints and no food, I had decided it was enough. I was honestly not mad, I was just disappointed. I enjoyed myself a lot despite the lack of food.

While the staff may not be thrilled to have more tourists visit, this place is a well-kept secret that visitors will only discover by accident or with the help of a local—which is how we learned of it. Only went for drinks so no food pictures this time but the tea and beer were excellent. The memorabilia and history throughout this small pub are also amazing and worth a visit—even if it’s to grab a quick drink then nip off back to work. It’s a little out-of-the-way but getting some extra steps in won’t hurt—especially since you’ll likely be getting something alcoholic or deep-fried during your visit. Beautiful location with matching interior and a clean but outdated lavatory, this is a great stop when you need to get away by yourself for a while or spend some time with your best mates. Definitely recommend the in-house beer when you next need a few minutes to yourself.

A great little hidden gem of a pub steeped in history dating as far back as the 1700s if not further, small in size but makes up for it in a good selection of food and drink with friendly staff. A spooky storie resides in the pub of a soldier that cheated at cards and owed lots of money in debt, as you look up at the ceiling filled with notes and messages from across the world to help pay his debt to move on.

I returned for the first time in over 10 years and it was as excellent as I remember. A great choice of beer, wine and spirits and really friendly staff in a quiet Belgravia mews location. A really friendly crowd of local workers and residents gave it a great vibe. It's definitely worth a visit and definitely worth a return.

Great-looking pub on the outside, full of charm on the inside! Plenty of little spaces to pull up a chair by oneself and take in the casks from various brewers - I was blessed with Timothy Taylor Landlord and a Wandle Bitter from Sambrooks, opting for those instead of London Pride, or keg beer from 1936 and the ubiquitous Beavertown Neck Oil. Plenty of bar food options as well, from chips to grilled haloumi to sausages. I had an excellent (and inexpensive) Scotch egg with my pints. Pleasantly quiet inside on a wet evening of pub hopping!

My wife and I stopped in on Sunday for lunch. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation. We shared the beef Wellington which was a smart idea for lunch. We will definitely stop in again if we are nearby.

Top class. Wanted to visit for quite a while now. A very cosy back street mews pub. Nice pint of Timothy Taylor's. Well kept. A few ghostly tales from the barman and nearby is a film location for the final scene of the 1951 film Scrooge. Food looked good as well.

A hidden gem. A stunning pub in a cul-de-sac location with a great selection of drinks on offer. Outside seating was minimal but plenty of room to stand. We look forward to returning soon to sample the menu.

A great little find down a "row" in the heart of Belgravier. A tucked away pub, which I wonder how anyone finds, is a delight to visit and so quiet you would wonder whether you are actually in the heart of London. A good range of wines and beers on offer and outside seating to enjoy the peace and quiet of your surroundings. No great views, but peace and quiet, if that is all you need, is enjoyable enogh. Staff were polite and friendly and prices were reasonable. A good place to visit if you are in the area.

Lovely old pub that looks superb inside and outside. Unique style. The food offering is decent for a pub but it’s maybe one way they could improve even more. But I’d happily eat there (unlike many pubs) and I regularly take visitors.

A superb, hidden gem. Very difficult to find but it was once upon a time well worth the effort. Unfortunately, since my original review, the staff have changed and are no where near as friendly. Visiting with family, we ordered the first of our drinks (my wife's drink) then immediately changed the choice. This was met by tutting and sighing and whispering to another member of the barstaff, making us feel rather uncomfortable. A real shame to witness such a downturn in service in just a few years. Afraid it will be some considerable time before we visit again, especially when you have such a welcoming place as The Star Tavern just around the corner.

I decided to take some family members there for Sunday lunch back in August. I hadn't booked as it was a decision made on impulse. The bar maid was so friendly and equally helpful in getting us a table for four. The food was excellent and the wine list, being a wine merchant, was very interesting as well as reasonably priced for top French & Italian labels with bottle age from good vintages. The whole experience was absolutely brilliant as well as relaxing in such a historical little pub of sheer class. Made even better by friendly, warm and inviting staff. Can't wait to go back again...
