This is the most impressive artwork on the whole Embankment area. Unlike the other war memorials that are placed high on a platform, this monument was designed purposely on a ground level so people could see it eye to eye, get close, be part of the action and feel the various battle scenes. Their intention and hardwork has definitely paid off because they had feedback even from blind visitors who really enjoyed it.

One thing about London is that there are statues and artworks everywhere of British heroes, the Battle of Britain sculpture is a memorial to the bravest of them all. I always pause when passing by, I am sure I am not alone.

The monument was the brainchild of Bill Bond, MBE, the founder of the Battle of Britain Historical Society. He raised funds and notably the British Government did not donate which caused public anger. The sculptor was Paul Day who has done a marvellous job with much detail On 18 September 2005, the 65th anniversary of the Battle, the sculpture was unveiled on the Victoria Embankment, a permanent memorial to 'The Few'. The unveiling ceremony took place in the presence of HRH Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. A great piece of sculpture commemorating some extremely brave RAF personnel.

This monument is located along Victoria Embankment along with a great man statues, monuments and memorials to heroes and figures of United Kingdom. The Battle of Britain Monument is a three dimensional sculpture. It doesn't just celebrate the famed few who defend the skies from Axis attacks, but also those who lived through the attacks too. The centrepiece of the monument is an airman running to battle, not to be missed. At the back and sides lists the names of the airmen who died in defence of the country.

The Battle of Britain Monument in London is a superb monument to The Few - commemorating those people who took part in this vital battle of the Second World War. The Monument is outdoor, free and open 24 hours per day. It is usually lit up at night. See here for its location next to the Thames. This website provides information about the Battle of Britain, the airmen, who took part, the history and description of the Monument and related information.

Amazing monument commemorating the men who died in the Battle of Britain. And those who survived. Soldiers, their faces, their figures expressing tenacity and sacrifice were very suggestively presented. Winston Churchill's words 'Never in the field of human conflict was so much been owed by so many to so few', reinforce the message of thanks for the heroism of the fighting men. It is impossible to pass by the monument indifferently.

We thought this very well done. Monument to Battle of Britain aircrew from home and abroad. The names of the dead, and their squadron badges appear as well as large sculptures of air and land action. Well worth 20 minutes if you're in the area.

Monument to the RAF. This is a monument to commemorates the individuals who took part in the Battle of Britain during the Second World War. Made as a three-dimensional sculpture on the Victoria Embankment, overlooking the River Thames. It was unveiled on 18 September 2005, the 65th anniversary of the Battle, by Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. To go to this monument just walk from the Big Ben area about 200 meters along the Victoria Embankment and you will find this site. Unique and beautiful works, worth to be visited.

It’s a very powerful memorial. Somber but one sees motion, almost perpetual motion, with the driving energy of the love of country. Still it’s a reminder how many have given the ultimate sacrifice as a price for freedom, it’s never free. We must fight for it! To the fallen, we salute you🫡 To those who are serving, we thank you👏👏👏

Delicately crafted and carefully considered. The tone is not one of celebration but of respectful memorial of RAF and civilians, men and women, both British and those from far beyond, who toiled and endured so much. Poignant and humbling.

(Translated by Google) I walked along the banks of the Thames on both sides and I was fascinated by the "treasures" encountered, but in particular I was attracted by a masterfully sculpted structure with three-dimensional appearance fixed with great mastery along the riverbank wall. The admirable work done with great accuracy gives him the opportunity to look at battle and bravery squads that honor the young heroes of the RAF royal force in the battle with the German army to defend the country! An impressive monument that will surely attract the attention of a passionate and eager tourist to know the great moments that have marked the history of the world! Nice, it's worth the attention!

Please see it for yourself and read the history of all those involved both in the Battle of Britain and the creation of this spectacular monument.

Google maps have this wrong! This is a memorial to those who participated in the Battle of Britain. Almost 3,000 persons from 14 countries. The RAF monument is a little further up the Victoria embankment, so don't let them confuse you. This memorial actually used a structure that had been constructed to vent smoke out of the tunnels used by the Underground train system when they used steam engines! The statues were cast by the same company that made the famous lions in Trafalgar Square

Great Place to see and provides easy access to London Bridge and London Bridge Station.. Near by stations are Monument and Cannon Street. Very Lively place and fun to be there. If you are a walker, you can go to Liverpool Street, St Pauls from this place. Enjoy London.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful memorial at full height, celebrating the Battle of England during the 2nd GM, very demanding for the forces employed and for the city of London itself. Aviation played a significant role in this battle. The core of the monument is made up of a series of scenes, not only of the Battle of England itself, but also of themes related to both military (not only aerial but also land) and ordinary life in that historical juncture. It is one of the few sites that focuses not only on military subjects, we can find depicted observers, women employed in the production of ammunition, etc ... The bronze panels worked with bas-reliefs develop horizontally on a light stone base. The monument consists of two sides, with different representations. On one of the two sides, under the bronze representation there is a very significant engraving, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." (W.Churchill)

(Translated by Google) Thank you for offering the vision of this monument to honor and remember the boys who fought for the truth is everyone's freedom. I would however like that, such monuments, did not exist in any part of the world because it would mean that no war took place and that no young fighter died. To meditate, wars are declared by elderly people but then fought by young people; I do not want to create a generational diatribe, I am no longer young, I only wish that anyone who reflected, I have never seen in my life a monument to the war dead that depicted old people.
