The enormous oak timbers of Westminster Hall's hammerbeam roof are awesome. However, current conservation work on the ancient stone walls is revealing a structure, long forgotten but just as fascinating.

A beautiful medieval Hall. The last remains of the original parliamentary buildings. Used as the staging point for all the Westminster tours. This time I took the tour of the Speaker's apartments. The best of them so far. So if you're interested, it's well worth your time.

Wow wow and wow! We had a tour today of Westminster Hall and the Houses of Parliament. Photos can be taken in the great hall but nowhere else, which is understandable. Everyone is given headphones so that you are able to listen to the guide, this worked well as there were a few tours going on. Phil the guide that took our party of approx 15 people around was brilliant, he had good humour, fantastic knowledge and answered any questions put to him. We were able to see both the house of commons and lords, the central lobby, and other significant areas of the building. Cannot recommend highly enough, a must see.

Incredible to be able to stand in and marvel at a space which for 1,000 years has been central to England's history.

Iconic! The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the iconic seat of the British Parliament comprising the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The history of the Palace of Westminster begins with Edward the Confessor who had the original palace built here around 1050. Until the fire of 1512, this palace was the seat of the English kings; Eduard I Longshanks is the only king born here. Though built as the seat of royal power, it has been the seat and symbol of democratic power since the first meeting of the English Parliament on 20 January 1265. What Guy Fawkes failed to do on November 5, 1605, a great fire succeeded in 1834: the palace was largely reduced to ashes. The design competition that was launched on this was won by Charles Barry. Between 1840 and 1876, a huge, more than 1,000-room building in Gothic Revival and Perpendicular Gothic Style was built. Barry was assisted in the interior design by Augstus Pugin. The most famous part of the Palace of Westminster is of course Big Ben (officially the Elizabeth Tower since 2012), but the large, square Victoria Tower is also a striking feature. The oldest part of the building is Westminster Hall, parts of which date back to Norman times. A tour of the democratic heart of the UK is very interesting, but a view from the outside is impressive too!

Very old and very well maintained. We did not go inside, but what history. They were digging up a lot of the grounds when we visited in fall of 2023. Hopefully, that is over for your visit. Such a magnificent monument to the government of the country. Glad I was able to visit

Incredible to be able to stand in and marvel at a space which for 1,000 years has been central to England's and then the United Kingdom's social and legal structure. Humbling to think of all those important people, so intwined in our history, have had to come to this place too. Unbelievable to think it is still here after all the history it's been at the centre of.

A visit to the British Parliament is a highlight and must-do when visiting London. Very impressive and interesting. The guided tour is better than the audio guide. Book at least several days in advance!

Beautiful in its simplicity. This hall has stood for 1000 years and been home to so many historic events it’s impossible to name them all. The trial of William Wallace and many others was here as were many major decisions that affected England, the UK and the world long before the Houses of Parliament came into being. Worth standing here and reflecting on this for a time rather than rushing through to look at the famous green benches.

If you get chance to do the Houses of Parliament tour... then do it. It was on my doorstep for years & I didn't bother...We did it recently, excellent.. Whether the whole heritage/history/royalty/politics thing is for you or not..it is part of our (UK) culture & heritage. The woman doing the tour was a bit bossy (!), but it was an excellent insight...Took about 2 hours.

A very enjoyable experience only let down by maintenance work interfering with the tour causing one to become confused. The touch sensitive audio tour not very user friendly and over sensitive touch screen making tour confusing. I would go again. Very nice gift shop.

A fantastic historical Palace to visit. Expert guides to show you around and lots of history to absorb. Camera's not allowed inside which was a bit disappointing but totally understandable

We took the multi media visit to Westminster Hall and we were able to go at our own pace throughout the venue it took us just under two hours. Having not been before I found it very interesting in both Houses. The headsets were good and very easy to use. If you haven't been before I recommend you go, there is a lot of history in the hall well worth seeing. Make sure that you obtain tickets before you go at the kiosk.

Really great day out. We did the audio tour. Did mess up the sequencing of the playback of parts compared to where we were in the building. But, soon remedied that. The tour is very informative and gives a good insight into the history and workings of parliament. More so than anything you pick up on broadcast news

Fantastic guided tour, not sure who the tour guide was but he was informative and fun. All I know is he was a former school teacher, if you get him, it's going to be good. You can only take photos in some places but you get to see the Commons and Lords. The café is ok, the chocolate cake was a little dry.

Always a joy to go to Westminster. The art is superb. To see the carriage this time was such a treat. And in the grand hall, don't just look up at the grandiose architecture, but also look down and see history in the floor. One of the newer markers is the site where HM QE2 lay in state. When in London this is the place to visit for history buffs.

Really fascinating place. Never thought I'd get to walk where the lord's and MP's. Would definitely recommend an audio or guided tour just to take it all in. Will be coming back if we can make it when parliament is on session.
