A very nice shopping mall, has variety of stores, so many options and cafés/restaurants all around. I've had a good shopping and a nice walk over there 🛒🛍️

I recently had the pleasure of visiting an incredible shopping mall located in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This massive shopping center is truly amazing and consists of four malls combined into one convenient location. Each mall is color-coded with Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue. I parked at the Yellow Mall, where parking is free and there is no limit on the duration of your stay. The play area for children is absolutely beautiful and exciting, featuring wall climbing and other activities. There are unlimited options for dining, so you'll never have to worry about where to eat. Although I didn't see any Indian food options, they have a Turkish delight stall and definitely some Chinese options. You can also find a PRIMARK store here for those who love to shop there. The mall even has a free indoor maze that was set up during the Easter holidays for Easter egg hunting. The mall boasts an unbelievably large number of branded shops, and I was particularly impressed with the Guess store. For added fun for the kids, there's even a Train on Wheels that goes around the entire mall. There is a security team all over the place, so there are no issues with safety or security. The mall provides clear and readable directions, and each mall area has a help desk for extra customer care. To fully experience everything this mall has to offer, you'll need at least 4-5 hours. I loved every minute of my time here, and I definitely recommend a visit to anyone looking for a fantastic shopping experience.

I've been wanting to visit the Metricentre for a while now and as me and mum have been visiting family I took the opportunity to have a quick visit, a quick visit that ended up being 4 hours long. I was really impressed by the sheer size and shops available, and the place didn't feel busy or crowded either. We went into quite a few clothes shops and had a coffee at one of the Starbucks there. I'm glad I didn't have much to spend else I could've come away with a hole in my pocket. The design of the interior was really nice in some areas, and the whole place felt really clean. I did find that the mobility shop was quite far away from where we had parked, which had we done some research before we would've parked elsewhere, but I do think they could have a couple more mobility shops around, and definitely one of the ground floor rather than the top floor. We did have a good time none the less and will definitely come back when we're next up in Newcastle.

Lots of parking in the various coloured car parks which are free but monitored. We park in Yellow as this leads you straight to the Odeon cinema or the arcades. The arcade is great and there are so many different games to play with a soft play located toward the back. There are plenty of information stations with maps to help you find the shop you need. There are plenty of restaurants which are mostly situated upstairs in the yellow section. The Metrocentre always have decorations up for the various celebrations which are great. My son is obsessed with the train that goes around the metro and loves going on. It is £3 per person whether adult or child which I don't agree with. Great selection of shops and you'll certainly get your steps in around this place.

It’s been around about 4 years since we were last here and it seems that these big Mall type places like in the USA are on the slide, there’s still plenty of stores to visit but they are all selling the same or similar items and that’s the issue I have, there is sadly a lack of different/ original stores to look at and there’s also a lot of large empty buildings advertising coming soon or our other closest store is here throughout the different wings, not sure I would visit again to be honest, nothing you cannot get right on your own doorstep to be honest and the only reason for our visit this time was to visit the Genius Bar at the apple store. Hey ho!

It's so huge and divided into two levels and four zones; green, red, yellow and blue. Upper level and lower level. You must have a guide map inorder go find a place. It has Arcade on yellow zone next to the entrance. There is a Fataush restaurant inside and its a good option for those looking for Halal food. There is a £land shop for Poundland shopper. If you love frozen yoghurt you will find it here. You need a full whole day to go around to see each and every shop. But still a day wouldn't be enough. It has a free whole day carpark for customers which is great. The customer service (Help desk) is on upper level in the middle of the mall. They have lifts and escalators on a walking distance. It has step free access for wheelchair users to shop around.

Love this place there is so much to do. The kids enjoyed the arcade area and the slushie shop where u fill your own cups with as many flavours and add fresh ice cream on top! It's the best thing ever. This place also has an indoor play area, cinema and bowling. Lots of food places. Rock climbing and shopping. Lots of parking available. Definately worth a visit

I visited the MetroCentre while on holiday in the area, mainly just to see what it was like as it is listed as the UKs BIGGEST shopping centre. As soon as I arrived I parked easy as there were plenty of spaces. Parking FREE is a bonus too as it means I can explore shops for as long as I want without worrying about carpark fee's clocking up. This benefits both the visitor and the retailer's. It was good to see the use of some solar panel car ports in the carpark too! When I entered the shopping centre it looked just like any other UK shopping centre, but it wasn't very busy like many are. I was glad to see that the MetroCentre had provided proper paper maps to show the location of the shops toilets and other facilities, it was very considerate of them and the map came in handy. As for the shops, there was a good range of shops as expected, plus a Namco Fun Scape entertainment centre and climbing activity centre, which are handy if you get bored of shopping! Outside the Shopping centre were even more retail units, they were a bit of a walk away though. Considering the size of the MetroCentre I was very surprised not to see a big "central" food hall. There are plenty of food outlets scattered about, but they are not all grouped together like in some shopping centres I have visited, like Merry Hill Shopping Centre in the Midlands, which is operated by intu. In Merry Hill there is one big hall with about 20 different food outlets around its edge selling every type of food, from Fish & Chips to Chinese. Although the MetroCentre is listed as the largest shopping centre in the UK, some parts of it are like a ghost town! Absolutely full of empty unused retail units. For the FREE parking alone, the MetroCentre is well worth a visit to do your shopping though, so I totally recommend it.

A shopping Center that’s has clearly seen better times, sadly. Popped over on the way to see the giant reindeer that was lit up outside. Very depressed to see so many shops closed inside but the ones that were opened were very well stocked and eager to help you in any way. Booking for the food court is highly recommended as the waiting time are in excess of 45 minutes. All in all I hope this shopping Center rejuvenates. It’s such a huge place and would really be if it with more shops being opened.

The Metrocentre was within walking distance of our hotel and had plenty to see and do. Great range of shops including Apple, Hugo Boss and Zara. We went to Pizza Express for food, service was excellent and wish I could remember the names of the staff who served us. It’s been a fair few years since my last visit and I’m sure they had sort of an indoor theme park in those days.

Fab place to come spend day. You can go shopping and if you fancy a quick bite to eat plenty of places to grab quick bite or if you want plenty of restaurants also. Lots and lots of shops top to bottom🙂 Clean and tidy and plenty of clean toilets throughout. You can either get lifts or escalators to all floors. It hosts a great big car park if your driving here. Been few times now and would definitely be back, family and friends already visit here also x

It's big as fuk! Love the experience. The Hunger games movie (Song of Ballars and mockingbird) was not very cinema worthy though. Ladies choices in movies is quite tragic 🤷🏾‍♂️

Good place to spend a weekend visiting. Free and plentiful parking as well as a lot of places to eat. I do think though that it would be a lot better if there were more places to sit down and rest, particularly places where there are free tables to sit and eat at as there used to be some a good 15-20 years back when Metroland was still there. Some other parts of the mall have a lot of vacant shops which does give a bit of an eye sore, but otherwise a good place for finding places to eat and do shopping.

Great place for shopping outside of busy city. Loads of brands under one roof will save your time and can check the bargains in them. Also many restaurants to fill your stomach with tasty food.

My local shopping area so have visited many times. Has changed over the years but still good to visit, a lot more eating places now and still lots of shops to be reopened. Sufficient to fill most of the day if you are not local and with the retail park (Furniture stores, IKEA and the range) should find most of what you require.

This big shopping centre is simply incredible, combining four malls into one handy location. Each mall is labelled with the colours yellow, red, green, and blue. There are numerous restaurants and shops to choose from. You'll need at least 4-5 hours to thoroughly enjoy everything this mall has to offer. I enjoyed every minute of my time here and would suggest it to anyone looking for a great shopping experience.

Great place to visit for all your shopping needs. Plenty of places to eat and drink and for the kids to enjoy themselves too with climbing walls, little trains to take you and them from A to B which is entertaining for them. Generally a lovely few hours for yourself just to chill out relax and shop or window shop, also FREE PARKING. Win Win for me. Thank You 🌟

Had a great few hours shopping here. It has certainly changed since I was here in 1990 when there was lots of greenery and a small stream. Although it is now decorated in a more modern and minimalistic style, it was still nice to walk around. There were different coloured zones which matched the different car park areas, which made it easy to find the car at the end of a shopping trip. There was a small train that drives around which we saw lots of parents with children using. Like most large shopping complexes at the moment, there were a number of empty shops. I saw two information booths (there might of been more) in the two different colour areas that we visited. We got a physical map from the young lady at one of the booths, and she was very helpful. There are also big interactive boards where you can look up shops by floor or category or just view an overall map. Overall the centre was clean and the temperature pleasant. We will definitely return next year.

Metro Centre is a shopper's dream! This mall offers an extensive range of stores, from high-end brands to cozy boutiques. Navigating through the mall is convenient, and the diverse selection of shops ensures there's something for everyone. A go-to destination for a day of retail therapy in Gateshead!

There's a lot of shops closed now. Like we went through an entire wing that didn't have more than one open. If your looking for slightly expensive shoes, or the mainstream clothing shops, then I guess you might be happy. But it wasn't for me. Also even though there's quite a few places, the choice for food is limited. Mostly burgers and Italian. Couple different thrown in the mix, but overall lack of choice was disappointing. Especially considering how it used to be. But I'm guessing that's no ones fault, as more independently owned placed would have suffered and have to close during/after the pandemic. One plus is that you can catch a train or bus that takes you right outside the doors, and they appear to be regular. But I won't be heading back anytime soon. Just not for me

The epitome of the soulless out of town shopping experience. I only go here when I have absolutely no choice - twice a year maximum. Identikit stores and shabby common areas/transport hubs. The Hotel Chocolat cafe is the only high point, but generally, I'd sooner eat spiders than shop at the Metrocentre.

I wouldn’t choose to visit a mall, but sometimes needs must and this place has it all. It does exactly what it says on the tin, everything you could want under one roof. Plenty of parking including a good number of blue badge bays, lifts to all levels if required, disabled loos, a good choice of eateries when retail gets too much and of course enough shops and choice to satisfy the need for retail therapy. If I loved shopping, then I’d love this place.

Still one of the best shopping centres in my opinion. Large spacious, well laid out. Lots of free parking. Great variety of shops and places to snack or eat. Cinema and other things to do for entertainment, also good public transport links. Mostly indoors so all weather shopping is a pleasure.

This place is huge, but I was only on a quick visit. I went quite late on so it wasn't as busy as it usually gets. The map you can pick up will give you some idea which way to go if you're looking for specific shops rather than just browsing. There is a huge variety of shops and food outlets, also cinema and amusements. Parking was easy when I went but I can imagine it being quite hectic at busier times. Well worth a visit, but if you're not a fan of masses of people, go late evening to avoid the crowd.

Most helpful staff, hired wheel chair ( no charge ) parked in blue zone for mobility users. No issues, centre busy but not too overcrowded

  • 3/5 M B. 7 months ago on Google
Such a shame there are so many empty units and restaurants etc. Although that's not all the centres fault as the age of Internet shopping has the high streets and shopping malls struggling massively. Why they got rid of a profit making metro land to increase retail space and maintain their position on the list of largest shopping mall in Europe is beyond me. Now they are slipping down the list of largest shopping malls and retail is dying.

Very big, spacious, has literally every store, accessible but quite a distance from town. I can't just rush down to my favourite stores. Also, no supermarket for groceries except M&S food which is not enough. Would be nice to do all my shopping in one place as opposed to travelling around.

I was shopping yesterday and was shocked at the amount of people not wearing face masks! Also some of the shops don't seem as bothered about the hand sanitising and the amount of people entering the store. It's all very frightening and puts you off going. There should be more security ensuring people have a valid reason for people not adhering to the rules and shops should be reminded about the safety procedures.

2nd Biggest more like 2nd worst! I have attached photos of the much more incredible character filled Trafford Centre in Manchester instead. My friend and I went to Trafford and we were jaw dropped at the amount of amazing character the mall had. Everything from a mini China town to an gigantic food court. Marble floors, Egypt style Pizza Hut, a huge arcade centre and cinema. Trafford is also very easy to get around too and you know which part of the mall you’d in as every part has something unique and different. Meanwhile Metro Centre is completely lifeless! I have seen Aldi shops with more character than Metro Centre. There is no character, the mall is bland, boring and nothing to check out and nothing that amazed us. It’s just a giant empty square shell of a building. Lots of empty stores and there was a lot of children causing trouble for security littering all over the mall and not obeying security guards either. If you want to go to a big busy and exciting huge mall I recommend Trafford! It’s much better than this soulless building

Place was deserted due to Covid lockdown, only a handful of shops are open, probably about 20 people in the whole centre but some little jobs worth in a yellow jacket told us to walk on the left even though there wasn't anybody there. Pity they couldn't do the same when the arrows were first put in place last summer but it was like a free for all then

Good shopping mall with easy parking! Plenty of parking with good sized parking bays we came by on a Sunday and it was free parking! Shops are usually open until late. Inside there a good choice of shops laid across two floors. All the regular high st names are here with the additional smaller brands.

Young Drivers operate in the Metrocentre coach park. They provide 1-2-1 driving lessons for youngsters 10-17, in "real" cars! My 10yo grandson has been 3 times, either here or at Newcastle Racecourse. He absolutely loves it, and by the time he's able to take his tests, he'll be a much better driver than me! Staff and instructors are lovely and you get a logbook to keep track of your progress. Highly recommended

I strongly suggest watching a movie at ODEON and being in the arcade. If you're visiting Newcastle you shouldn't miss out on that ^ but it's worth a visit too if you like shopping or just looking around stores. Especially during the holidays or events to see more decorations.

We mainly use MS the store is well set out plenty choice. You can rest with coffee or tea in the cafe which sells a rang of tasty sandwiches and cakes. The metro center has something for even the most discerning shopper from young to old. There are plenty of shops and restaurants.

The metrocentre still has an appeal especially in bad weather, it has suffered over the years with the rise of online shopping, I prefer the real shopping experience, hopefully after the pandemic the centre will be able to offer a better experience...

Not as good as it use to be its lost many of those little independent shops that made it different from all the other shopping centres. There are many of the big stores so it's still a good place to spend a day shopping.

Should be an excellent place for shopping and leisure. Sadly there are too many empty lots or overpriced boutique style shops. Such a shame. If only rents were lower so more diverse businesses could set up shop so to speak.

It was great and rather crowded, they had a very good marking on the floor to let people know it's been set up as one way on each side of corridors ...as usual you have people breaking the rules or not paying attention to the signs ...but overall all were under control ...there were some long queues for some stores ...

Spent a day here with the family on our way home From an overnight in Newcastle. Great shopping centre with literally loads of brands to choose from. Children had a go on the wall climbing they have based in the shopping centre and enjoyed spending their pocket money in the arcades. Lunch options were amazing and we actually stopped at two places one for lunch and one for pudding. Treated the kids to cookies too on the way home as Millie’s cookies looked to good to resist for my pair! Even managed a wee train ride around the shopping centre which my son was delighted with. Would definitely recommend this shopping centre. Could spend the day here, we didn’t have time to fit in a cinema trip but we plan to visit again soon to squeeze this in.

I had never been to the metro center. To be fair I put it off because the place is so big and it put me off in the past. Its actually very easy to park up. You can access the centre from a few angles. Before you go, check what shops you want to go to and the car park will come up etc green car park is where marks and spencers shop is. It has blue badge car parking spaces. It's wheelchair accessible. Free to park at all times!

Plenty of maps around to aid navigation. Covid guidance posters/notices clearly on view. Car parking was easy enough to find and is free. Sections of the mall are named by a color which coincides with the car parking. Parked at yellow mall car park. Close to the restaurants, arcade and cinema.

This is a great shopping center in the northeast. Easy transport links lots of bus's train's. And lots of car parking. There are lots of different shop's to look at its all in doors. Plenty of places to eat from pubs to Italian restaurants. And there is fun things to do for the little ones. I recommend a good two to three hour visit to see everything.

A great place to shop. Unfortunately there are quite a few closed stores right now, but more are opening (Harrods make up in June, I believe). They are busy redecorating in the Town Square and it should be be quite lovely. I particularly enjoyed the friendly Luff pillow and bedding stall outside Boots and Accessorize in the Green mall. Great products!

MetroCentre is the largest shopping centre in Europe, it was opened in 1986. It is a great place to spend a couple of hours with hundreds of shops, tons of restaurants and plenty of bars, plus an odeon cinema & amusements which include ten pin bowling. Parking is completely free. Over the years there have been many various  changes/alterations to the centre itself including opening and closing times. Lately however I have noticed more shops closing or downsizing like WHSmith and Vision Express, which is a shame! new stores do however open up from time to time. Even though the MetroCentre has been open nearly 35 years it still looks very modern and clean inside, however I would say the outside exterior of the building needs some updating and cleaning in certain areas. Once again the Metrocentre is a great place! There is so much more that could be written about it but unfortunately this would make this review mega long!!

Haven't been here in a long while. Used to be a brilliant shopping mall but not anymore. Its OK if all you want to do is eat. Everywhere you look its just cafe after cafe. Burger bar after burger bar. Cookie shops. Bakers. Just food Everywhere. Far too many. And walking through the place was cold. Couldn't wait to get back to the car just to get warm. Won't be hurrying back.

Not too busy, one way routes are in place, with most people following them.

👍👍 My regular shopping done here. Unfortunately. My favourite small shops have actually all gone. Only B+M left. Forgot Boyes The shop that has everything. And Iceland, and Superdrug, and Home Bargains, and Greggs, and + plenty charity shops. Oh And... a Lloyds Bank. Not many of them left open.

👍👍 Big mall, a lot of shops and easy to find the way as it's pretty much straight line.
