We visited the Parrot cocktail bar in Aldwych, situated within the Waldorf Hilton on a Friday evening. The bar is a partnership with Lee and Nicky Caulfield and is intended to draw on the exotic inspiration of the Palm Court where the Waldorf has traditionally hosted entertainment events. Wow, what a cocktail menu. They all sounded so good. We started with Puffer Parrot (£13): Absolut Elyx vodka, seasonal mixed fruit and vanilla ice cream. The glass was designed more like a puffer fish than parrot but looked pretty cool! The cocktail was more like an alcoholic fruit smootie so a little thicker than normal, presumably because of the ice cream. We loved the Kakapo (£15): Roku gin infused with basil, cucumber and sugar snaps, elderflower cordial, lime juice, vanilla syrup and soda water. The cocktail arrived in an exquisite parrot shaped glass and the flavour combinations working perfectly. Along with our cocktails we enjoyed some of the signature bar dishes. We tried the Confit Duck Spring Roll, sirrachi, soy and spring onion (£9) and the Spicy Crispy Squid, smoked chilli jam and kimchi (£9). The duck spring rolls were packed full of filling and the spicy crispy squid packed a punch when paired with the chilli jam. They were excellent small plates to enjoy with the cocktails and the squid was some of the best we have tasted. Parrot is a gorgeous cocktail bar in Aldwych, perfectly located near the theatre district. The cocktails are beautifully created and presented and it has a sophisticated but unpretentious vibe. We loved that there is a live band on Friday and Saturday evenings.

I had such a lovely time here on my birthday. Lovely decor, great staff and lovely clientele too. Everyone in the establishment on the day were so friendly and sang happy birthday to me. Would highly recommend, didn't pre-book on the day, but to avoid disappointment I would recommend booking a table.

Absolutely awful! Although the place looks cool from the pics cocktails are £14-16 which is the absolute high-end in central London, but that’s at a swanky place with a view that’s packed with beautiful and affluent people. Such was not the case at The Parrot as there was literally 1 other guy sitting at the bar and 1 couple at a table at 10:15p on a Friday night. Maybe it was dead due to the way over priced drinks? Or, perhaps it was the really weird and annoying music they were playing? Both were enough for me to turn around and leave. I didn’t even bother to take any pictures...it’s off my list. I hope readers will find my review helpful. #TabesTravels

Good value cocktails, nice atmosphere and friendly staff, who were happy to adjust cocktails to your taste, or make recommendations. I'll recommend their signature Parrot cocktail, which was impressive by the size of the chunk of ice in it, and a Parrot logo seared into it (don't worry, the cocktail isn't all ice, as you might find in some cocktail bars).
