I've really enjoyed the class, instructors and staff, but really disappointed with how OrangeTheory handled my membership over the pandemic. I'm afraid I'll sound to rant-y if I explain the whole thing but basically they charged me my regular membership for digital content during lockdown without my consent and without communicating that that's how they were handling it. In fact members got emails saying their memberships were frozen. When I inquired about this it took months to get an answer out of them and in the end I'm not getting refunded for what I'm owed. Again, the class and staff are great but their corporate side is super shady, bad at communicating and will ruthlessly take your money.

I joined this gym recently with my friend, we were hoping to motivate each other and lose some of the lockdown extra pounds. I was very nervous as I have let my fitness level go to pot, but everyone who works here is so lovely and friendly. They really welcomed us with open arms and always seem happy to see us. The gym is clean and well thought out and very COVID conscious so every other rower/treadmill/floor workout space is coned off so nobody is right next to you while you are sweating and huffing and puffing. The workout is tough but you go at your own pace but I am looking forward to getting fitter and fitter. The heart monitors are addictive to watch on the screens around the room, you push yourself to go that bit harder and wrack up the splat points. I have a massive phobia of the treadmill and every coach has spoke to me about it and encouraged me to go at MY pace and stop when I need to. I also have the option of using a stationary bike if it gets too much for me. I don't regret joining here and I would really recommend it to everyone, whatever your level of fitness.

High intensity interval training based group class. Different to Barry's Bootcamp and Rebel by not aiming to be hip and trendy. Lights left on so you can see what you are doing, no on site hairdresser and instructors more involved. Key differentiator is the heart rate monitor score board where you can monitor your intensity levels.

Always great to visit an ot studio when I'm traveling

  • 3/5 Gemma H. 6 years ago on Google
Mixed reviews on my first visit. The place has undergone a refurb but it didn't feel finished when we went with chipped paint and workmen wandering around. The two ladies on the front desk who helped us get checked in were hilarious and very friendly. During the class, I found the instructor quite unclear and had to watch those around me to understand what was expected of us. The equipment is top notch and the treadmills in particular are great, a really lovely experience. On our way out we were asked if we wanted to join and were disappointed that, despite what the website said, we couldn't buy individual classes. We left without signing up. I'd go again, but in a very competitive arena, they'll need to do better overall.

I love Orange Theory and the Islington studio is a really welcoming and fun studio. Like other OTF studios in the States (and I'm guessing everywhere), the workouts are second to none. But what I especially like about the Islington studio is the staff and the coaches. The staff at the desk is always friendly, do a great job welcoming members, and perfectly handle any specific requests/questions. The coaches are incredible. They somehow manage to make a pretty grueling workout fly by, tailoring to any specific requirements/limitations. Overall, it's a really welcoming, encouraging studio with a wonderful community behind it (and not in a cloying way!)!

I was reluctant to invest in the extra expense of this gym compared to say a Fitness First, but it could not have been more worth it!! The concept of training to your own heart rate zones, rather than having a trainer arbitrarily yelling that you should be running at a certain MPH pace or lifting a certain weight, means that it's really a gym that everyone can feel welcome at regardless of fitness level and get a great workout. The trainers and staff are so friendly and motivating. I've missed my OT so much over Covid lockdown and can't wait to go back on 12 April <3 <3 <3

My Husband introduced me to this studio after he joined to do a weight loss challenge- which he won. He has prefers this studio than any other gym , his exact words are : " they push me to the limit, they focus on you and work together to reach the desired goal, is an hour but is worth it .. is an hour well used" We have loved coming here - We burn the most calories!! It's absolutely good! You'll see results in no time! Really recommend it to anyone wanting to lose weight or to keep fit!! Trained staff, clean facilities, quality of service!!

Unfortunately this gym only cares about money and nothing else. Recently had a membership there that I had to cancel. Accidentally emailed the wrong studio but they confirmed that my membership was cancelled. Fast forward two months and I’m still getting charged. Ask them for a refund as I didn’t go to the gym in that time thinking my membership was cancelled. They said I emailed the wrong studio and didn’t have the decency to even give me a partial refund. Pretty low and petty way of doing business. So many gyms out there that wont treat you like garbage. Avoid!

Best gym experience I've ever had! The facilities are kept very clean which is a huge plus, but the best part has to be the staff. The team are all very friendly and motivating and the trainers are really passionate about what they do! Keep up the great work!

I held a membership at this OrangeTheory for 2+ years and would highly recommend it to everyone I know! I always felt at home during my time there and the workouts were a great mix of cardio and strength training. I never felt like my money wasn’t well spent. I only left due to moving back abroad, but I miss this team dearly!

Run far away from this blindingly adorned cult freak show of fitness and inappropriate. Scientology meets fitness = orange theory. It’s an absolute cult mentality using well established cult techniques to brainwash, and I can tell you that is not used for positivity. I’m surprised it hasn’t been shut down, in every country.

The best workout I found in London, Orangetheory is a great studio class. It's a combination of cardio (you can choose from the treadmill, spin bike or elliptical trainier) and floor work with body weight, dumbbells and the TRX. They also throw a bit of rowing sprints in there. The studio is new, clean and well-kept and the trainers correct your form. The twist is you wear a Polar heart monitor and know how hard you were working and how many calories you burned in the hour class.

Great facilities, very clean and the style of class is incredibly motivating with the results you would want. However, it is expensive for a class only gym, and I unfortunately couldn't justify committing to a membership.

F?? Barry who? IMO, Orangetheory is easily the best HIIT workout in London. The instructors are all amazing and encouraging, the workout is always fulfilling and full of endorphins, and the gym is always immaculately well-kept and clean. All of the locations in London are great; but Islington is my favorite because I really like the community, members, staff, and coaches. It's also conveniently close to the Highbury and Islington station. Definitely worth every penny.

I've been coming in for classes for the last two months and I'm really happy with OT. It's a tough but manageable workout, I find the stats on each session really motivating. The team looks after the cleaning/hand sanitising/temperature checks really well, the staff are super friendly and welcoming and remember to greet you by name (thank you especially Saoirse) and the trainers are always really positive and attentive (thank you Charence & Steph).

I was a member here for 3.5 years whilst living in London and loved it. The facilities are excellent, well maintained and kept clean. The workouts are hard but in a good way! I always came out feeling good about myself and I think being able to track your progress with the different zones is really helpful. When I was consistent I definitely noticed the difference, whether it was a heavier weight, higher gear on the strider or my heart rate recovering quicker. But the best bit about this gym is the staff. The front of house staff always welcome you with a smile and are ready to help with anything. And then there's the coaches, who are unbelievable. They bring so much energy to every class and push you in the best way possible - no shouting, no singling out, no unrealistic goals. But they'll certainly not let you slack! Not only do they somehow know everyone's names, they also seem to know what you're capable of better than you know yourself!? They'll celebrate every achievement with you no matter how minor you think it is, and there's a strong focus on getting your form right including adapting exercises for injuries. The most welcoming and positive gym I've ever been to. Worth every penny. Big love to all the past and present staff there for making me enjoy going to the gym!

Different every day, let's you track your progress with a heart monitor.. tailored for everyone's individual ability level.. and beat of all.. amazing friendly staff and community!

I've been an on/off member with them for over a year. Used to do two sessions a week, now downgraded to once a week as they changed their timetable and I decided to do yoga and boxing on other days to spice things up a bit. I like the music and my favorite instructors are Mavis and Emmanuel - love their jam and enthusiasm. Sessions are usually tough, but I do enjoy looking at the results afterwards - an email is sent after each session to every participant with their stats. On average I burn 500-550 calories. I gave 4 stars only because of the price. With my attendance of once a week, it works out to be about 15 quid a session which is a bit steep. But apart from that, great.

I am an Orange Theory member from the US. I love the workout (combination of cardio and weight that specifically train me on strength, power and endurance). Orange theory makes work-out so much fun . I’m visiting London for the first time this week, needlessly, I must visit Orange Theory..especially after all the excellent English beers and Fish n Chips I have had. I visited the Islington studio today. First of all, the front desk staffs, Mary and Mavis were super friendly and helpful on the phone and when I came in. I felt at home immediately. I was also impressed by how clear, spacious and organized the studio is. Most importantly, coach Emmanuel was excellent. I have had almost 150 OTF classes in various US studios with many different coaches. Emmanuel is certainly one of the best I have ever had. To name a few of his awesome coaching: professional demeanor, friendly attitude, perfect time management of the class, he constantly check on the members of he/she handles the workout fine for or need more challenge or alternatives. He also paid lots of attention and make sure members’ form were correct while doing the floor exercises. Orange Theory - Islington studio is highly recommended.

Highly recommended for visiting out-of-towners who want to go to OTF. Nice facility with a locker room (with lockers that lock) and showers, with shower towels provided (but not workout towels). There is a Starbucks right down the street for post- (or pre-) workout refreshment. It's near a station on the Victoria line, which isn't the most convenient coming from tourist locations, but if you figure out the bus system (very simple with Google Maps and credit card tap-to-pay) it is easy to get to.
