I've been a member of DW Fitness First for years and I've never encountered such cold unfriendly staff, regardless of their jobs. After a brief conversation with the girl at the checkout I was left feeling patronised, even mocked. Whoever does the public announcements must of worked for H.M. Prison Service because he was barking at people like a prison guard. 'The gym is closed NOW!' for example, when in fact it was ten minutes to closing. I know they have to get people out but there are ways of doing it and that isn't one of them. There seems to be a culture of contempt for the people paying their wages - and they've been allowed to do it.

*Pros: towel service, convenient location, sauna and hair dryers provided , good classes, some staff members are super nice *Cons: cleanliness seems to be slipping over time, air-conditioning is broken, awkward layout of gym - sometimes you run out of space especially during peak hours, price is not worth it, lacking comprehensive set of equipment, keep an eye on your bank statements from this gym! *Average gym... (Deteriorating), a little on the smaller side. I feel like the gym is getting worse overtime They charge you £5 to pause your membership per month

Incredibly rude service manager! I signed up for a 3 day free trial which was advertised on the website. As I wanted to come in at short notice I phoned reception ahead of time who assured me it would be fine. On arrival at the club the service manager refused me entry and told me she could only book me in for 1 free session at some point in the future. The club not only wasted my time (and tube money) but also lost someone who was extremely likely to sign up. It was also disappointing to see the way the service manager spoke to the receptionist who was only trying to be helpful. I can't comment on the gym as the terrible customer service means I will never step foot inside.

I have been a member of St.Pauls gym for 2.5 years and have stayed with them for the fantastic rates, service and equipment on offer. Every member of staff is welcoming, happy to help and provides advice and valid knowledge into fitness and nutrition. The team care about you and take time to know you whether you are a gym member only, or working with a PT.... they certainly go the extra mile. All the above sets them apart from competitors and I certainly will be staying put for a long time to come. Thanks for the love and support guys!

It has been my gym for the last two years. It is not as cheap as pure gym, but is not much more expensive either and you get a towel! generally clean, not too busy before 8am. The location is great, next to st Paul station and basically on paternoster square. Hearing how much other gyms charge, I think is a great deal.

Overcrowded, broken air con, broken lockers and queue for showers. Yet they continue to show more newbies round and sign them up. Not worth the money nor the post shower sweats. Two stars merely because they have more than one set of weights for a number of KGs, when they're in the right place.

Been coming here for years, generally a good gym. PLEASE sort out the aircon, even the PTs complain “the gym is cold in winter and hot in summer”. This is a modern building, get it fixed. They have cut cleaning staff during the day so the change rooms and toilets can get a bit nasty as the day goes on. Staff are friendly!

Dhruv Rapapara - pathological liar. Not the first time this sort of thing has happened to me or someone I know at Fitness First, but the sales manager, Dhruv Rapapara, promised me that, whilst he wasn't allowed to input into the system a 50% discount as an incentive to return to the club, he could do it manually, freezing my account every other month to effect this. He did this once and then when I complained, said, quote: "freezing it for one month was me being personally helpful to you" and denied ever having had the conversation. The facilities are fine but certainly do not justify the high price and the way they treat their customers, this being one example, is completely unacceptable. Moving gyms and won't be returning, ever.

Great team over there let down by the owners. Standards continued to drop with intermittent issues e.g. air conditioning and changing rooms. Opted out of the subscription.

Gets very hot especially in the changing rooms. Can be difficult to get a locker and space to change.

The air-conditioning here has been broken for almost a year - if you look down the reviews you will see for yourself. It's VERY hot in the gym during the summer months. Almost unbearable to work out in. Staff can never say when it will be fixed. Wouldn't recommend signing up if you want to use the gym during your lunch hour, you'll be going back to work soaked in sweat!

Having been a member for 1.5 years, I've just cancelled my membership. Here are some pros and cons: Pros The staff are usually pleasant Towels and shower gel provided Despite being underground, quite a large space Was usually reasonably quiet at the time I went Cons Aircon frequently on the fritz. Last Summer it was unbearable and it took them months to agree to get more regular fans. Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't now. Some trainers like to use a boombox when they're working out and play music very loud (this is on top of the normal music on the gym's speakers). This has been going for months, but when I recently drew it to the management's attention they claimed ignorance, despite me seeing them walk around the gym when it was going on. Weights are usually just left all over the shop, although I know this is a problem at a lot of gyms. There used to a large stretching area on the gym floor with thick floor mats, but this has now been removed. The men's changing rooms aren't very clean (hair/fluff permanently on the floor), plus there are no foot mats in the showers. Not open at the weekends and I have been told by staff that I would have to pay to use another Fitness First (Brixton). I think the money they charge is probably about right. You get some perks that you wouldn't get at cheaper gyms, but they obviously know it's not as nice as Virgin Gyms or similar. Plus being closed at the weekends isn't great. Ultimately I cancelled as I didn't think the pros outweighed the cons. They didn't argue when I cancelled so I think they know it's not great there.

Gym is nice with good facilities. But don't get Danny Keen as a PT. He doesn't care about his clients and have personally seen him stealing.

Very bad cancellation policy and rude duty manager. I booked a spin class for Thursday 23of August 2018. On Wednesday 22of August at 18.09hours I received an email from the gym according which my booking was cancelled. I contacted the customer service only to find that ,two bikes got broken and my booking was cancelled because I was beetwen the last ones whom booked the class. When I tried to find if there is anywere in the contract a clause which allows them to proceed as they proceeded with the bookings I've been told by the duty manager to don't go in circle, because I can't change nothing and if I want to find that if there is souch a clause I need to read the contract . I asked him to give me the phone number where I can call to make a complaint. Before giving it, the duty manager told me that I won't resolve nothing ringing because the complaint it will come back to them in order to be sort out . Very bad ,bad ,bad attitude and cancellation policy

Extremely poor customer service! This is a nice gym which I've been using for over 3 years. Shame however that the new reception girls are rude and very unpleasant to interact with. They may benefit from some training. They charge you £1 to borrow a padlock, which is unique to St Paul's FF only (I've never had this experience at any other Fitness Firsts). They say it's because 'people don't return the padlocks' but that's obviously untrue, as you would usually leave a belonging in exchange for a padlock. It's clear they are trying to make money out of nothing. Out of all FFs which I use in London, St Paul's has the worst staff members.

SPACE ODDITY Hmmmm 🤔 The location of Fitness First is simply marvelous! It's at St. Paul's tube station. The building seemed very well kept... No unpleasant urine smells, body odour, etc. The room that I was in was quite small, but we made it work. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. No. I wouldn't consider membership due to the fact that I live far away from the area. What I liked was the availability of towels post workout; they were by the reception area. Yeah, I'd be happy to visit again. I enjoyed My Time there. I hope You've enjoyed this review. Best wishes, Blue Bear

Really conveniently located gym if you work in the city but what inspires me to return is Kristyna, a phenomenal trainer at FF. Really focused on your body and what you want to achieve from it, tailoring everything to you - from training to diet - and keeping you motivated throughout. Couldn’t recommend someone more highly.

Too busy to workout. HVAC system cannot deal with gym at full capacity. Water fountain constantly broken. Staff don't know how to use watt bikes

Great gym - but the real highlight is Kristyna. I’ve known her for a couple of years, but most recently she’s been training me regularly. She’s an amazing trainer - she pushes you in a supportive and challenging way but most importantly safely. I have so much fun during our sessions and have found a friend as well as a trainer! I look forward to our sessions, and come away feeling awesome!

A great Fitness First with some really good classes, conveniently located in St Paul’s. the gym is rather compact but the staff is fantastic, both the reception staff and the instructors. I particularly like Leon’s RPM classes which I’ll miss once I’ve relocated outside of London. Great attitude and a friendly place to train.

I've been really impressed with this place so far. Always been a little cautious of fitness first as in the nicest possible way, it's a budget gym. The staff are really friendly, there's a great selection of classes and i can almost always get onto the piece of kit i'm after. All in all it's spot on.

I have been going here for 2 years now. Have to say they have a low staff turnover which is good. The staff and PT’s are all excellent and super helpful (Particular mention to Will Rizk). Gym is clean, well maintained, good equipment and a decent size. Plenty of activities/classes to get involved in also. Towel service is good (maybe time to get softer towels!) Would recommend, not the cheapest but given the location and size is fair.

Friendly staff, good class instructors , big gym for the City, doesn't look it from the outside and not too many stairs to changing rooms unlike London Bridge! Good choice of classes and enough equipment.

A fitness first gym on the Paternoster Square complex f buildings. Ideally located close to St Paul's. The gym is open from 6am to 9pm Monday to Friday nd and offers classes, weights and a full range of cardio equipment. There is also a sauna and plenty of showers. Great instructors on site to help with programmes and general guidance.

The staff here are very friendly and equipment is in well order. PTs are a plenty and I have come to know a few of them who are all very nice. Could be crowded at peak times like mornings, lunch and after work.

I enjoying the gym since September 2019.. I got financial problems and they didnt let me to cancel my membership. I send all the information to them and it seems they didn't want me to cancel. Introduction day the manager told me that I could cancel anytime , I read the contract and is true but after they didn't let to cancel, One month since now im fighting to cancel my membership and they made excuse and excuse. Don't bother to join this gym have better options good conditions. I'm not the only one has the same problem.

Conveniently located gym if you work within the surrounding areas. Best thing about my experience so far is a lovely PT named Kristyna. She really listens to your body goals and creates tailored plans to ensure you meet your body targets. She’s prompt, professional and an amazing PT. She is an asset to the fitness team at St Paul’s and the reason I award the gym 5 stars. I recommend to all, both male and female who want to get fit and make positive changes to their bodies, give Kristyna a try she won’t let you down!
