Went in to get my ring size. Was informed I could buy a plastic gauge for £5.50. When I mentioned to the member of staff that I already had such a gauge and that I found it inaccurate, he kicked off about the fact that "people come in here all day long for their ring sizes". His attitude was disappointing, his tone was rude. It's a jeweller. I expect to get an accurate ring size. It barely takes a minute. I don't expect it to be a free service (I would have happily paid) and most certainly don't expect to be treated with such ill regard. I informed the member of staff that I would be taking my business elsewhere. It stands to reason ring size => purchase of a ring. For what it's worth, for £4 one can buy the full set of metal sizing rings off amazon. I don't like the idea of taking business away from bricks and mortar stores, but being turned away in the manner that I was makes me too embarrassed to walk into another jeweller to ask the same question.

I visited on the basis of Google reviews, and I'm so glad I did! This tiny gem (pun intended) in the centre of London is perfect if you are in need of any jewellery expertise! I needed a new silver chain for my Mum and ended up getting one for myself too! Don't hesitate to pop in.

Peter was so helpful. I needed a signet ring and for it to be engraved very quickly for my daughters 21st. We did everything by email and Peter was superb with his communications. I didn’t even have to visit the store. Peter arranged everything and then sent it by secure post ahead of schedule. I cannot recommend this company enough. They care about their customers.

Took my late Mum's pendant in for cleaning and bought a chain for it for a gift for my sister's for her wedding day. I was treated with kindness and sympathy as I was upset. I'm so glad I stumbled across City of London Jewellers online and bought a beautiful sterling silver locket for my god daughter's christening. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Peter made me a stunning three stone diamond ring on a platinum band. I took my Mum’s engagement ring and my own. Peter is a brilliant jeweller - really skilled and clearly passionate about his craft. I took in a fair few items that needed fixing, polishing, cleaning and resizing. He did all of this quickly and flawlessly. My late grandmother's old gold bracelet from the 50s in particular was almost unrecognisable - truly brought back to life! I went in to this jewellers and asked for a price quote to resize a sterling silver ring. He didn’t seem as if he wanted to give me the time of day and said it “would simply not be worth the cost” as it was silver and then simply dismissed me. This ring holds sentimental value and I have since had it resized elsewhere with no fuss.

I was looking for a very special gold locket to house a picture of my son who has recently passed away. My brother and I bought two silver bracelets from City of London Jewellers and we are very pleased with the assistance we received from Peter. We went back a couple of times and he was happy to have us try on the bracelets to help us decide if we liked them or not. We got each one sized, and my brothers fit well however my one was slightly too big. There was a slight mix up in the measurements written down but Peter was kind enough to adjust the size for free on this occasion and I was very pleased with the final result. What a great find!! Peter is a master at his craft. One of the wedding rings had some flaws to fix and I was lucky enough to find City of London Jewellers. A good product at a fair price, delivered promptly (which was particularly important), with choice of two wrapping papers and bow - as it is a gift. A nice touch and complimentary.

City of London jewellers is tucked away just beside a church on south place near Liverpool Street station. I must have walked past it thousands of times on my way from the station to the Barbican and didn’t notice it was there. I was speaking to my brother asking him where he bought his engagement ring and he recommended this jewellers. I was amazed at the selection of beautiful rings they have. Peter the owner, was extremely knowledgeable, patient and helped me to pick the perfect sapphire and diamond engagement ring for my fiancée explaining how the wedding ring would fit close, which I never would have even thought of. All in all it was a stress free experience for me and my lovely lady was absolutely overjoyed with her ring . Highly recommend this jewellers! I was recently shopping for an engagement ring, but had a particular style and type of diamond in mind (a black diamond). Others jewellers did not instill confidence in me (that they would be able to deliver on my requirements), this was the opposite with Peter. I was looking for a goldsmith to make a bespoke ring. i had mentioned to a couple of other jewellers and they did not seem to interested. When I explained to Peter what I was trying to achieve his first word was yes I can, he then showed me some pictures of rings he made , I explained to him how l wanted the ring to look he understood exactly ,he said leave it with me and that he would phone me when he had something to show me,within a few days he called me to come and have a look at some samples one of which was almost what l was looking for, I explained and within the week he had made the ring to my exact style I have been looking for. This is the second time I have purchased jewellery from city of London jewellers and like the first time I am really happy I did. I am not someone who buys a lot of jewellery and I told the man serving me that I would never be a 'big' customer but despite this he was very patient as I took my time deciding what to buy my mother for her birthday and he answered all my questions without any pressure to 'part me from my money'. My mother and I have similar tastes and she really loves the beautiful gold pendant I chose for her! As I said, I don't buy much jewellery but the next time I do I will definitely go back the this wonderful 'traditional' jewellery shop.

Excellent service and excellent results! I took in my grandmother’s tarnished and dirty ring hoping to get it cleaned up a bit. The results exceeded my expectations, Peter hand-polished the ring and it looks incredible! He also did it really quickly, I gave the ring in on Friday night and it was ready by Monday midday. I would definitely recommend this store for repairs/maintenance of jewellery.
