This place literally changed my life. All the people are lovely, the yoga and meditation lessons are excellent and really inspirational. I've also experienced a retreat for sub25 and it was an amazing experience. It is an incredible gift that you can find such a quiet place in London, and you do not have to become member or being buddhist, you are accepted, whoever you are. My problems and my anxiety completely disappeared as soon as I entered the centre. Thank you for everything!!

Going to the London Buddhist Centre was the best decision I have ever made in a long time. The atmosphere is zen. The folk working there are so very lovely, especially the gentleman at reception. It is also in a great location, which pulls in a really diverse bunch of people. The bookshop is also amazing with so many gems. Wish I was still living in Hackney, I would be a regular at the Centre for sure.

Great place. They don't bombard you with religious dogma if you're just looking for a setting to continue your meditation/yoga journey. The shrine rooms are beautiful, and a group meditation really furthers your practice. Of course you can dip your toe into the specialist Buddhist teachings/discussion nights too, if that's for you- it's not for me personally. The ordained speakers seem more like normal and approachable people than the stereotypical religious leader and most have interesting insights to share on meditation practice, and there's a couple in particular who I hope to see. Drop-in mediatation is optional donation only. Expect them to address the group and suggest making a donation, and to promote paid retreats in the teabreak- I can forgive this as I guess they are just trying to cover costs & stay open. They teach 2 meditation practices; the mindfulness of breathing, & the metta bhavana(cultivation of loving kindness). The metta bhavana has been more revolutionary to me; it's all about trying to establish the same warm intentions and well wishes to every living being equally- friend or foe, stranger or lover. I only wish the whole world was practicing this!

Been here a few times and so far so good! It feels like a nice and not too intimidating start into meditation and Buddhism that’s open to everyone and feels welcoming. They have a sliding pay scale too which is very welcomed. Only met good people and staff here so far.

Came here on open weekend and was greeted by some really unfriendly patronising men who were all stood around drinking tea and looking surprised we had come and wanted to look around, despite it being open weekend! Eventually one said "there is something on at the moment I'm afraid" and we had to ask if we could get involved. Felt very unwelcoming. Not what I'd expect from a Buddhist center!

Very friendly knowledgeable people working here. I've never done any yoga before and I dropped into a lunchtime session. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have been back multiple times since. It's a beautiful centre with very well taught sessions and somewhere I will continue to visit. It was also my first experience of meditation which I never imagined myself being able to sit through but I left feeling fantastic. Cannot recommend trying this out enough.

A very beautiful Buddhist centre providing meditation and mindfulness classes. Has definitely helped me grow as a human being. I love their small boutique type bookshop as you enter the centre. I'd recommend a visit to their lunch time classes or evening classes.

Incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful yoga teachers. I have a disability and I was really scared going my first time, but it ended up being amazing. Classes feel very comfortable, class size is just right, and the atmosphere is calm and friendly. Thank you! Metta.

Been attending the LBC since March 2013 (6 years now!). It's for me a sanctuary in the middle of a busy city, a place where I can go not only to meditate, but also to study, meet friends old and new as well as deepen my practice. It's an incredibly welcoming place for newcomers, would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in meditation, Buddhism or quite simply the meaning of life!

A place of inspiration, kindness and calm. Do yourself a favour and book on to a course or just turn up and learn to meditate. You’ll find a welcome, some of the most amazing people you are ever likely to meet, and leave with some new skills with which to lead a happier more balanced life. Turning up at LBC 5 years ago was one of the best things I have ever done. A game changer.

Very welcoming atmosphere for any busy Londoner. They offer secular and Buddhist meditation drop in classes - mostly free / by donation. Really enjoy the community here - everyone who leads classes or helps run the centre are volunteers - the place is literally run on genorisity. It's a great ethos.

Lovely! Went there for a guided meditation last week (they do them daily from 1-2 pm) and it was incredibly. Lovely center with lovely volunteers. Definitely worth checking out and supporting the lovely volunteers.

I enrolled myself for a 6 week Mindfulness & meditation course recently. In the first session, I found one of the instructors quite impolite as he did not allow one of the class members to share something with the rest of the class. It was quite ironic as he was telling us about how we should let go of our ego and think about others. Then he literally told her not speak. Also each session we would get a tea break however this was not much of a break as it was 15 minutes of having have to listen to A member of staff, telling us about other courses they do offer and advertising, which does not make sense if you are enrolled in mindfulness & meditation course. I initially asked for a course content but I was not given anything as I was told they did not have one. I would expected that when people are charged for a 6 weeks program , it’s all more organised and more structured.

The online offerings during the covid 19 pandemic have been truly inspirational. When there is so much tension, anger and hurt in the world it is more important than ever to try to live a wise and ethical life. Thank you to the LBC for your devotion to the Dharma and for helping me so much on my journey through this life.

Attended your drop in meditation session this evening. Place was so busy but strangely peaceful and so welcoming. Our meditation teacher was knowledgeable, friendly, funny and honest about the practice. Will definitely come back next time I am in London.

After taking care of my body at the spa experience (sauna and ice plunge) round the corner at the York Hall Leisure Center, I walked into the buddhist center to attend a mindfulness meditation group session led by Ruth. The people there are so warm and welcoming I highly recommend it whether you are a beginner or advanced. The session was deeply engaging and I would out feeling a new energy, body and mind replenished.

This centre is a gem, such a blessing. I've been going there since 1997. Initially just popping in once or twice a year but now I got once or twice a week. It's really friendly and relaxed. Highly recommend a visit Just pop in and often there's someone on reception.

Nice venue, great choice of workshops but after attending 4 times my experience was that the participants form a close-knit community and I felt a bit excluded.

Excellent centre. Very friendly. Buddhism is taught in a very accessible way for those with a Western upbringing. Even if you're not interested in Buddhism itself, you are still made welcome to attend the daily meditation classes .

Really amazing place. One of the only places in London where you can meet genuinely nice people, and have a real sense of community. I would recommend to come a few times for the meditation classes to really get into it - some people come once, can't concentrate and get put off - but this is totally normal - it takes a while to make progress and they give great guidance.

A wonderful, welcoming place. Bethnal Green's Buddhist centre is an oasis of calm and kindness. Coming here for a talk or meditation session makes you feel 100 miles from the hubbub of the city. Highly recommended for people dipping a toe and the more experienced - there's something for everyone.

A peaceful, quiet, and warm place where to learn or to practice meditation. I felt so welcomed at the LBC (bethnal greean). Also, I would like to thank everyone there as their meditations (live and online) brought me some huge breakthroughs in my practice. I can't wait to be back there !

The Buddhist centre offers drop-in meditation(s) sessions for beginners, organised in two parts with a tea and cookie break. Beginner meditation does not require any prior knowledge or experience and is a great opportunity for anyone interested in adding new perspectives or mindsets to their repertoire.
