Probably the worst customer service ever. I'll keep it short. Paid membership, IT system so bad it doesn't work and unable to get member prices or benefits. Email to solve problem, no response. Try again, 4 week later get some response as I request full refund. The helpdesk agent "Claire" seemed only interested in me sending screenshots of my bookings to work out the original IT problem. I informed her at least 3 times that I wasn't interested and just wanted a refund. She just out right refused to acknowledge my request said if you don't in the next email I will raise it with my bank under section 75 consumer credit act. She then said can't help you now as you are raising a complain. Such awful customer service and basically they just want your money without doing anything and if there's a problem, they want you to give up or sort out yourself.

As with most other reviews for GLL, very poor customer service, difficult and complex access to memberships and bookings, very difficult to speak to a person (which you will need to do when your membership expires for no reason and with no notification). This organisation is supposed to be a charitable social enterprise but is anything but. Their opaque systems, strong avoidance of contact and needlessly complex access requirements effectively exclude large sections of the community they are supposed to be serving. If they were anything but effectively a monopoly, they would be quickly out of business. I had a 60+ concessionary membership which expired, had to navigate through their contact-avoidance call steering and go through a complex process with an agent only to find that this membership type no longer in list of options. Had to renew as a standard Adult which results in a price hike of 60+%. Raised an issue with customer services and 2 days later was informed that my account had been changed to adult concessionary. I was certain this option was not listed prior to raising the issue, so it seems the option was omitted in error or deliberately. As with all my interactions with Better (GLL), I feel frustrated and unvalued.

Be aware of GLL's dodgy policies and the fine print on their contracts!! GLL claim to be a charitable non-profit organisation. However, I'd dispute it, given how they have treated me. I also suspect that I'm not the only person with grievances against the organisation. In March, they emailed their members and posted on their premises that the gym had shut down due to the Covid pandemic. The message explained that they would freeze all their members' accounts until further notice. A few months later, they started taking money out of my account again without informing me – even though my local gym was still closed. I contacted them as soon as I found out, but they explained that they had reopened some of their other branches - none of which I could get to. To cut a long story short, I would never have signed up to their Purley branch if it was not so close to where I lived. They've taken hundreds of pounds out of my account for a service they've not provided and have refused to review my case.

Had the sad duty of working for these clowns after they took over the sports village in sutton . They don't man their gyms sufficiently and have not got panic buttons installed yet so a huge health and safety issue . The management are clueless and don't take control and let the poor staff pick up the pieces when it all goes wrong . Staff have left due to management bullying some being signed off with health issues . Fortunately I've left now but I would not recommend going there as they do not look after their staff or customers .

Well, well GLL. Still trying to hire staff on "Zero Hour" no contract work placement! What an absolute disgrace. They are using people for their own benefit and presuming people are desperate for work. Have just given 2 people whom interviewed myself a complete "Slap Down" verbally of course! Both parties didn't even know what was written in the job speck - tut, tut.......

Worst customer service ever. I paid swimming membership through this company but am regretting why I did as I didn’t have a choice. There’s no phone number to contact them and yet it’s difficult to get hold of them. I wanted to cancel my membership but I don’t even know how to do it and no one was able to help me I had to cancel the contract through my bank. They should be avoided at all cost.

equipment is good, but hygiene levels in Mile End gym very poor, despite it being recently refurbished. Not much customer care either once you have signed up it as if you no longer important. This gym has not had a weighing scale as the old "very basic" scale is broken. i joined early Jan 17 and this broken scale still has not been replaced. The swimming changing rooms are disgusting, and i will never use the swimming pool. infact i will be leaving this gym.

Great facilities yet due to cutbacks from above - the few staff are great yet clearly overworked (to a point where they can’t be that helpful). Had my van back window smashed on the car park yet when I voiced it at the front desk i got a reaction like it was my fault (blank faced errrr) . Wouldn’t show me the camera footage and didn’t even call me to say they had checked themselves ( which is what they said they would do). 2022, the year where company owners show there true colours and drive there staff & customers to misery.

Clear and complete lack of respect for their customers' time as they're so difficult to contact. Corporate aside, their gyms, pools and sports facilities are great though.

Absolutely appalling - they took over gyms form Aquaterra like Sobels & have turned it into a money making machine by bringing in the Trampoline park against objections from all the use the gym - no consultation, no nothing. Staff try their best to keep the system in check, but what a sour move by Islington Council to award GLL instead of staying with Aquaterra. The only reason I still go to Sobels is because of the guys & girls that take the classes, they have been there for years & are brilliant, if it wasn't for them a lot of us would be going else where. This is on behave of a lot of members at the gym. Appalling, appalling, appalling, appalling can't say it enough times :(.........

I was just frustrated at the difficulty of booking general swimming for my two boys at the Tadworth swimming pool run by Greenwich Leisure Ltd. I tried calling the phone number, but it just kept directing me to the website. After 12 minutes, I gave up. I then went to the website, but the timetable was incorrect. When I called back, the customer service representative admitted that it was wrong, but blamed the centre. I was directed to the activity booking page, where I learned that "MP lane 4" means "The whole of the main pool." This is not clear and should be clarified on the website. I am disappointed with the level of customer service I have received. I would like to see the timetable corrected and the website made more user-friendly.

Great people at the facility doing their best but HQ staff appear poor - been there too long, need a good shake up. Would not survive in a private co. Nearly an hour to book a class this evening. IT issues most days.

Absolutely appalling customer service. I cannot understand why they spent uncountable thousands renovating their leisure centres and spend nothing on improving their IT and customer service. keep your distance..

Nice enough people, but GLL is poorly run, so don't expect to be treated fairly. Gone to another gym today and couldn't be happier!

Are you ready for this? After closing my account a couple of years back, randomly 8 months ago they started taking money from my account again. They are now refusing to refund and I am left wondering why they still had my bank details. Surely a huge GDPR breach. Obviously I am seeking professional advice but I would think twice before giving this company your personal details.

GLL is the epitome of a totally useless organisation. It took them three months to get rid of toxic waste material from Cally Pool. Far from the promised “best” experience, customers endured months of bog standard treatment by a “bully”. “Lions led by donkeys” is the best way to describe this incompetent outfit.

They actively exclude older, disabled people. I honestly don't know how they achieved charity status.

Pinner club------ appalling health risk. Mens shower, toilet areas and spa, filthy; covered in soap scum residue and mould slime in the steam room. Litter, chewing gum, discarded clothing, empty bottles left laying around for days on end. Drains blocked, broken lights not replaced. Complain to the local manager and all you get is excuses, nothing gets done. This company is ripping off everybody

Sadly I have to agree with most people. Very badly run. The Tennis staff and coaches are great but are let down by the company they work for.
