If you love Mexica food, this is the place for you. Just outside the Borough Market, it's a great option if you want to enjoy the atmosphere with the privilege of sitting comfortably down. We tried the taco experience with a selection of food and it was awesome. Salsas are so good, nachos and tortillas are delicious and the ribs' meat comes off the bones just so fine and it's so juicy. Really nice beers, kind service and good prices. Totally recommended!

Made a reservation for an early lunch on Thursday. Sea Bass Ceviche which was surprisingly delightful with a coriander and Cornish Serrano chili. They were quite skint when it came to the accompanying chips but we made do. We also shared 3 types of taco - al pastor, baja, and mushroom. The mushroom tacos were my favourite. They came wrapped in a shell of crispy Oaxaca cheese with pumpkin seeds and chili de árbol.

Have heard a lot about El Pastor and wanted to try for a while, but it didn’t live up to the hype. We didn’t have a booking, but we were seated straight away (it was a Tuesday evening, so not a busy day). Service was good; waiter took our order promptly and food was bought out quickly. Food was average at best. The tortilla chips were extremely hard and flavourless; not enjoyable to eat at all. We ended up leaving a whole bowl of them. Tacos weren’t great either; the actual tortillas were quite dry and neither of the tacos I had much flavour. I had the prawn tacos, which was really lacking seasoning and the El Pastor, which was also quite bland. Nicest dish I had was the chicken tostadas, they were delicious. Overall, El Pastor is extremely average and I wouldn’t go back. I’m a huge fan of Mexican food, but I’m yet to find a restaurant in London that can satisfy my cravings - the search continues!

Good food all round. Was on a Monday evening as was already very busy. We sat outside with the heaters and everything. Inside seems like a good vibe casual dining with mates. Some of the sharing plates you get to build your own tacos as well. Worth a try if you're into that

Have the Al Pastor 24hr marinated pork tacos. They were very good indeed. The pork was zinged up with avocado, onion lime and the thinnest slither of sweet pineapple which perfected the balance. We had three each and it was the perfect amount. The staff were great and I really liked the music choice (something that often annoys me) A cocktail each finished it off well. It’s a good place to catch a seat at the market. The ribs looked good I’ll try those next time.

We had a wonderful experience. Amazing food, and great service. We had tacos and chips, refried, and also with the 5 salsa. Super authentic feeling and overall great tasting. Highly recommend.

Delicious tacos, great drinks, amazing staff. I hesitated before deciding to try a taquería in London but these tacos were very very good. Even when the place looked packed from the outside, I was able to get a table in no time and the food almost rushed to my table, it was the best decision of my weekend 😂. Fully recommended, even if you see people waiting, give it a try because the line moved very fast. Definitely coming back

Absolutely loved dinning here. The rib was outstanding. Plenty of tortillas and you can get as many as you want free of charge. The corn cake with corn ice cream was delicious.

Food tasted good but the value for money is non existant. If you eat a lot of food then this isn't the place for you. £8.50-£12 for two very small tacos is criminal.

Freshly made tortillas: crunchy and juicy, just as it should be. With a variety of sauces and meat options. The cocktails were good too, the dessert was okay.

Highly recommended. Authentically Mexican, felt like I was back in Mexico City. Cocktails are 🔥 Tacos al Pastor a highlight. But the Corn Cake & roasted corn ice cream trumps all. Come and let your taste buds be wowwwed.

I tried this Mexican restaurant in the borough market and tried the tuna tostadas for a starter and the Baja tacos to follow. The food tasted good and the flavours were authentic with a good spicing. However the portion size is very small.

I googled for proper restaurants in the area for a post birthday lunch. Being Borough Market, it is a tough decision as almost all the restaurants are top quality plus I have preference on food markets over restaurants but El Pastor is definitely highly recommended! There isn’t a lot of proper Mexican restaurants in London but El Pastor is definitely one! Food is all fresh, good and delicious! The ingredients are fresh. The guacamole was so simple but fresh and delicious. The totopos were proper thick and crispy, although I kind of regret not asking for a refill becuase I wanted more but I did not want to fill up before we got to our mains. The 5 salsas are a must have even if you are not a fan of spicy food. We had the Al Pastor tacos, the steak quesadilla, and the sea bass ceviché. The prices are reasonable. For drinks, I had a shot of their delicious house made Mezcal which I believe was from their third batch. The venue is perfect and the servers are friendly. We were lucky to be sat beside the pass and to hear the jefes call out the orders was music to my ears. It was a great experience! We will definitely come back.

Tacos were good but the sides were a real disappointment and overpriced. Do not order the sides. Sit inside if you can as it's not as noisy as outside and tables were small.

We visited El Pastor on a Monday night. It was surprisingly busy, we didn’t have a reservation and they managed to find a table for us within. We ordered Al Pastor, octopus & pork belly and the beef quesadillas (as special of the night). We also ordered two Diablo Rojo. The food was awful. And I’m mystified by the positive reviews. I visited here many years ago and had food poisoning, but thought it a once off. Sadly things haven’t improved. The food came quickly, too quickly. The dishes were cold, the pork belly and octopus had clearly been cooked many hours before and slapped together. The quesadillas looked like a weird pizza- a bunch of ingredients piled on. The French fries (finely shaved and crisped potatoes) on top a mystery. I tried to send it back and ask “what the … is this?” But no one seemed interested in coming by. I gave up and ate it. It was all edible, might even be good if it was freshly cooked. Although the quesadillas invention was not a winner! The cocktails were nice, the only positive about the place. I would recommend wahaca any day over here.

Noisy environment. Tortillas kinda basic and boring. They break easily, good places do double tortillas. Minus also for the el pastor tacos the meat came in a big lump which you could not chew off so you had to use knife and fork. It is definitely a very fresh food experience just not so much for my taste.

Honestly The food was okay. I was just surprised with the little portions. The Al pastor tacos were very good. Drinks were okay. We were very happy the host was able to accommodate us since we were a large party of 6ppl. Recommend making rsrv prior to getting here.

The food is average overall but is good compared to other Mexican/taco options which London lacks. Main reason to visit was to drink mezcal, and this did not disappoint. Service was fast and friendly

Food was amazing. We had chips with salsa and guacamole. I had the Al Pastor tacos and my husband had octopus and pork belly. We tried a few drinks. House frozen margarita, hibiscus and honey dew margarita, spice, margarita, and the Paloma. Everything was great! My tacos were one of my favorite ever.

Food was really nice! We had the tuna tostada and short rib both were full of flavour. For desert the corn cake is an interesting flavour but lovely.

Great Mexican place. Unlimited corn chips to have with your assorted salsas. We had a Very good sea bass with awesome accompaniments. The crab and vegan tostadas were also worth a look. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the food came out fairly quick, hot and fresh. There were also 4/5 vegan options too.

This was a great place from food to drinks to service and staff! Music was also really good. We had the pork belly and octopus tacos, the prawn ones too. We had Mezcaritas and El Pastor pale ale. The chocolate and mole tart. All amazing!!

The service could have been quicker, but overall the food made up for it. Chicken tinga tacos - The tacos were a bit overpriced but it was delicious. 9/10 Shareable rib dish - This was great! They brought out unlimited taco pitas which is great for sharing. 10/10 5 salsas - Worth it to get especially with the rib dish, and you can refill the salsas 10/10 Hibiscus honeydew was the best drink Avocado drink was pretty basic Mango drink was spicy, it really had a punch to it so I wouldn’t recommend unless you like that

What an extraordinary experience, loved this mexican restaurant, the food is full of well balanced flavours and extremely tasty. Loved my spiced mango margarita. Friendly and attentive staff. Great atmosphere. This restaurant has everything we need to have a great meal. Highly recommended.

A nice and buzzy place. Really enjoyed our meal here this evening. Food, service, and atmosphere all great. Good food variety from snacks, starters, main to dessert. A great selection of drinks to choose from also. Some very interesting and adventurous margaritas to choose. Staff were attentive, friendly and approachable. Really recommend the place.

Yummy tacos. I only tried El Pastor tacos and they were really good. I also found the children 's menu very good and good value for the portions they give you. Would love to go back and try some more

THANK YOU IZZY I came into the restaurant today to order for Takeaway but discovered that El Pastor, typically, does not offer this. I went to a nearby restaurant and asked if they'd give me some takeaway boxes and then worked with El Pastor on this one occasion to get a takeaway order. Izzy was super flexible, friendly and accommodating and I can't thank you and the team enough. I hope you consider doing Takeaway!

Amazing food, great drinks and excellent service! Covid safe: temperature checks before entering and staff disinfect the table properly between customers ( even spraying down the napkin holder!)
